[0:00] So, all right, let's get into the scripture tonight. What I want to do tonight is just kind of conclude what we've been involved in the last several nights. [0:11] And just kind of conclude with what I'll just say some practical thoughts and regarding the study that we've been sitting under. And if you weren't here, or just to refresh your memory, we were introduced, the series was called Answering Atheisms. [0:27] And on Sunday, we were introduced to the fact that we're in the last days and that God has something to say and to remind us of being in those last days, and that is that He's the Creator, and it's something that's under attack. [0:42] And as you've witnessed in your lifetime, it's very much so been under attack that God, or God as the Creator, the thought of it, of there even being a God. [0:53] And He's, really, it's not just that He's disregarded, but He's completely been displaced in our society, in the United States of America, and the world. He's completely been displaced as the Creator. [1:04] Something that was just common belief, even among probably lost people, was that there's a God, He's a Creator. That was years back. And now today, it's gone so far that that's not even allowed to be talked about. [1:18] And so that was kind of the introduction. And now, part one, Monday night, Brother Biscoe discussed some claims and beliefs of these lost men, these very special, gifted, just mighty men, mentally, wise men of the world, the wisdom of this world, and the claims that they make and how he showed from their own writings how completely unscientific they are, yet calling their ideas science and claiming this is science and we follow the science. [1:49] And you've heard that shoved down your throat for, well, the last year plus for sure. And he showed from some of their hypocrisy of their own words from their own books. [2:01] And these are the men that the world is just worshipping and believing and following blindly. And the blind are leading the blind, as Christ said, right into a ditch. And they call it science because I guess calling it lies just has a different ring. [2:15] So they'll paint it with something that we can accept and swallow. Part two then, last night, he brought forth some major arguments. And he refuted them with the Word of God and showed how the Word of God has the answer. [2:29] The Word of God that some of these men even reference and attack and mock to build their case against this God of the Bible actually has their answers. They just refuse to study the Word of God and to comprehend the whole counsel of God. [2:44] And so the answer is there. They just don't want to look for it or even acknowledge that it could possibly be in this book. So come to the book of 1 Timothy tonight with me. And primarily we'll stay right in the Timothys. [2:58] And so being that we've had so much of that information presented to us over the last few days, I feel it's just semi-natural just to carry on and conclude with some more scripture. [3:18] Paul writes to Timothy and to Titus. These two men, these preachers, young preachers of churches, local churches, and Paul, as the authority and the apostle to the Gentiles, writes to these young men. [3:35] These are called pastoral epistles, 1, 2 Timothy, and Titus. And so he writes to them and addresses certain issues of their day, things that they were dealing with. [3:45] And these issues that Paul's talking to them about, they're different. The topics are different than what we deal with today, but they're similar in their nature. [3:58] And that's what we'll see very clearly. You'll hear it in the wording. It's almost like, wow, we could totally apply that to today. Go figure. The Word of God is valid and speaks to our hearts today. [4:09] Today. These men in this time were attacking the faith of some, the truth, Bible doctrine, and they were replacing it with ideas that can't be proven. [4:20] Sounds like today. They were trying to establish things that, they couldn't prove them or establish them to be true, but they were trying to teach them. And so this is a different day, but I want to show you it's the same spirit today, and so much the more. [4:37] Today, the same MO of the men today and what's going on today as it is back in this day, and so the Bible just has the answer. And so what we could do is go to the Bible and receive guidance and learn how we ought to respond to these issues when we encounter them in these certain areas. [4:57] Now, we're going to just kind of glean our way through 1 Timothy and 2 Timothy, and I'll just keep pointing out these things. They pop up over and over and over again, and it's not hard at all to show you how it applies to today. [5:09] So let's start in 1 Timothy chapter 1, and let's look at verses 2 through 7 to begin. Paul says, Notice that. [5:36] So do what? He's telling them what I charge you from verse 3, that you do. [5:46] Do it. Verse 5. Now, the end of the commandment is, Charity of a pure heart and good conscience and a faith unfeigned, from which some having swerved... What's that mean? Swerved. [5:57] You know what it means. You swerve in your car to avoid hitting something. You swerve all the time. You turn aside. Look at it. It's in the verse. Having turned aside unto what he calls vain jangling. [6:10] You say, We don't talk like that today. Oh, you'll know exactly what that word means. You'll recognize it when you hear it. You'll hear plenty of it. Vain jangling. He said that. And in verse 7, Desiring to be teachers of the law, and notice this, Understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm. [6:30] Now, what I want to show you is different time, maybe different specific issue, but same attitude, same result, and that's why the word of God is so relevant. [6:44] It's always been relevant. It works. God doesn't have to just deal with this issue. The principle and the teaching that he lays down for it applies through the ages. [6:55] And so what Paul is going to say to Timothy and to Titus in these areas are things that we can pick up and use today and understand today when we're faced with these issues. Now, in this passage, let's look at it specifically. [7:07] I just kind of broke it down into the action of man, what he's referencing, the issue, and then the response, the biblical response that he is admonishing these men to take. [7:19] So the action of man, or the issue, the man, the infidel, we call him the unbeliever, or today call him the atheist, if you want to. It's going to work. It's going to be the same stuff. The action of man is that he's swerved. [7:32] He's swerved in verse 6. He's turned aside unto vain jangling. So it's a lot of noise. It's a lot of noise. Jangling, just that word has that in, it's built into it, this jangling, just a lot of noise, but no substance. [7:49] And that's something that's, it's just going to keep coming up, so I don't even want to spend time on it right now. There's no proof. There's no substance. Just a lot of words. Just a lot of talk. Just a lot of hot air. [8:01] They've turned aside from the truth and from the faith unto something that they can't prove to have a lot of noise. And what's the scriptural response to this? Look at verse number 4. [8:13] Paul says, Neither give heed to fables, endless genealogies, neither give heed to the things which minister questions, rather than godly edifying, which is in faith. [8:27] Neither give heed to things that result in questions. Those kind of things that was addressed this week, they're attacking in nature. He talked about the fellow in Oregon with the book that he put out, and his whole operation is to question, question, question, question, question, to get a crack, and then take that and tear down your whole belief and just get you to question it. [8:49] That's a satanic. Genesis chapter 3, Yea, hath God said? He starts with question, question, question, and tears down what man knows is right and confuses them, deceives them. [9:02] And that's the stuff right there in the book. And Timothy's dealing with it. Paul addresses it. Don't give heed to that stuff. It's just ministering questions. It's not edifying. [9:13] It's not helping. And here's something that he says that I tried to highlight when I read it, verse number 7. Paul exposes this guilty party here in verse 7. It says that, Desiring to be teachers of the law, and doesn't this sound like the evolution guys, the stuff they put out, understanding neither what they say nor whereof they affirm. [9:35] What's that mean? They affirm. They say this is true. We know this is true. Didn't that sound like the, was it Dawkins or Hawkins? Which one is it? We know this is true. [9:47] Well, how is it true? We don't know how. We know it's the truth. We know it had to happen that way. There's no other way, but we don't know how it happened. That's them. [9:59] Understanding neither what they say. They don't even understand what they're claiming or affirming to be the truth. And so what does Paul tell Timothy to do? [10:10] Don't give heed. Don't give heed to their nonsense. You don't have to step into the ring with them. Your job is not in that realm. And this is something that, in some men's ministries, they've messed up and they've chased these kind of things. [10:26] They've decided, this is what I'm called to do. And don't get this twisted. I asked Brother Biscoe to come and do this here. I want him to do this and I'll show you why, even in this passage. [10:39] But it's not a calling of a young man or of a minister to take on academia and to go after and convince them when they're lost, to convince them that they're wrong and this is right. [10:51] It's not going to work that way. It never has. So what's the action there we showed you here is what they've turned aside to, what they're claiming and what they don't understand. And the scriptural response is not to give heed to them. [11:05] Look in the same chapter. Look now at verse number 18 through 20. Paul continues. He says, he kind of gets back on his message and he says, This charge I commit unto thee, O son Timothy, according to the prophecies that went before on thee, that thou might spy them, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare, holding faith and a good conscience, which some, having put away concerning faith, have made shipwreck, of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme. [11:36] So notice Timothy is dealing with things and with people in his day that are, they're wrong and they're putting forth wrong things and it says their action here is that they put away faith, verse 19, having put away concerning faith. [11:52] So they're stepped off, they're stepped out of the truth and they put it away and decide we don't have any need for that. What we need now, we need proof. What we need now is we need evidence, not faith, done with that, stepped away from faith, now we want to see it in science. [12:11] And Paul's going to end this book talking about that very topic. It's so relevant, I'm telling you. So Timothy's dealing with this in another case here and what's his response supposed to be? [12:23] His response is to war a good warfare in verse 18 and how's he to do that in verse 19, holding faith and a good conscience. And those two things are going to come back up in chapter 4 as well in a similar way. [12:36] He's told to hold, not go fight them and smack them, not to build some website that kicks them and makes fun of them. He's told to hold faith. You stay in the book, Timothy. [12:48] You stand on the truth, Timothy. You don't back down, doesn't matter how big they are and how many books they've written and how many people fall behind them and criticize and mock you. You stand on the word of God. You hold faith and a good conscience. [13:02] And that's a personal thing that comes up as well in a few chapters. His response is to war a good warfare, hold faith, stand your ground. And Paul even takes it a step further saying, I delivered them unto Satan, those guys. [13:17] That's what I did. They're going to learn not to blaspheme one way or another. And this is kind of a little peculiar thing that's something we don't talk about much and say things like that in the local church. [13:28] We're going to deliver you to Satan and get out of here, stuff like that. But Paul talks like that. He talks about it more than once. And just to give you a reference while we're here, I think we'll get to it later, but look at chapter 2 of 2 Timothy. [13:41] Keep your place, but flip real quick over there. One time in 1 Corinthians 5, he talks about delivering somebody unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh. That's somebody who was in sin and they weren't repentant of it and they were told to get rid of him. [13:57] And Paul called that delivering him unto Satan. He has no use for him anymore. He's done with him. He washes his hands of him and he's just going to let him go reap the reward of his heir. Now in 2 Timothy 2, we'll get through this passage as well, but just notice the last verse, verse 26, it says that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil who are taken captive by him at his will. [14:23] And this thought, I don't have any problem connecting to this thing about Satan and delivering on Satan because the context of it all is very, very similar and there's some names up in verse 17 of that chapter, Hymenaeus and Philetus. [14:37] There he is again. And so anyway, they're taken captive by Satan at his will and Paul just says, let him go. Titus, he tells him to that heretic to reject him after the first and second admonition. [14:50] And so that's your scriptural response here is that you stand and you hold faith and somebody who's going to be the heretic or going to be stepping away or putting away faith and saying, I need evidence, I need proof. [15:03] He said earlier, neither give heed to that stuff and here he says, deliver them unto Satan. Be done with them. 1 Timothy chapter 4, look ahead of that next time. [15:13] Chapter 4, first seven verses we'll read. 1 Timothy chapter 4 and notice again this same context and elements Paul's writing to Timothy about repeatedly in these epistles. [15:27] These young preachers need to be aware of something. They need to know how to handle it. Verse 1, Now the Spirit speaketh expressly that in the latter times, there we are, some shall depart from the faith. [15:39] Did we see that already? Swerving, turning aside, putting away faith. They've departed from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils, speaking lies and hypocrisy. [15:55] Boy, that line just fits today. They're speaking lies and we saw it from their own words this week, hypocrisies, having their conscience seared with a hot iron, that's them, forbidding to marry and commanding to abstain from meats and now he just deals with a specific issue about food that can be received and if you know the truth and so forth, verses 3 and 4 and 5. [16:18] Now verse 6, he says, if thou, Timothy, if thou, preacher, if thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine whereunto thou hast obtained, but refuse profane and old wise fables and exercise thyself rather unto godliness. [16:39] Timothy, don't waste your time with them. Refuse to hear that. Stay away from it. It's devilish. It's satanic. Giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils. [16:51] Departing from the faith. Speaking their lies. They're hypocrites. They're liars. They're led by Satan. And what's Timothy, well there's the action of man there is they're giving heed to these spirits. [17:02] They're being deceived. They're speaking lies. It's that check for today. Right down the list. Speaking lies and hypocrisy. And he tells them to refuse them in verse 7. [17:14] And he tells them also verse 6, if thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ. So it's Timothy's duty and job as a pastor and as a Bible preacher to expose that air to the brethren. [17:32] Now this is, the point I'm trying to drive home is that his job is to expose it to his flock, to the people, is to make them aware of it, caution them, beware of what's out there and what they're teaching. [17:43] It's false. It's wrong. Here's the word of God. Feed them with the scripture. He doesn't say, Timothy, you go out there and you let them know and you light the world on fire that they're all wrong and they're all wrong and they're all wrong. [17:56] You debate them. You get in their colleges. He doesn't bother with that. He says refuse in verse 7. Wait until we read back the list. Of what Paul tells Timothy to do in these kind of issues where they're speaking lies and where they're teaching things they don't even understand themselves and they're claiming it to be true and they want to believe it but they can't and they've turned aside from faith. [18:18] All right, move ahead. Remember in Colossians 4 where, let's take a peek at it while it's close by. [18:29] Colossians 4. We read this verse each night in verse 16. He told Timothy what we read there that refuse profane and old wives' fables and exercise thyself rather unto godliness. [18:49] And he told Timothy, and I didn't read it, well, if you got your place still back in 1 Timothy, skim with me the passage. He spends the rest of that chapter 4 dealing with Timothy as a man and about his ministry. [19:04] And it's like one-on-one time, check these things, Timothy, that you're doing them and that you exercise yourself to godliness. He's concerned about his own personal walk and his relationship with God and he tells him to be an example in verse 12 to others, to give attendance to reading. [19:22] That's himself, verse 13. Neglect not the gift that's in him in verse 14. 15, Timothy, meditate on these things, give thyself wholly to them. [19:34] And then verse 16, take heed to thyself and to the doctrine, continue in them. He's dealing with his ministry in verse 16, you'll both save thyself and them that hear thee. [19:46] Save thyself, don't be afraid of that. It's not talking about salvation from hell. Timothy's going to save himself from what? From verse 1, departing from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, doctrines of devils. [20:01] Put the brethren in remembrance of these things, that you're nourished up in words of faith and good doctrine, where unto thou hast attained. You're not going to fall for this stuff. You've got to give heed to yourself. [20:12] You've got to stay, give attendance to reading. You've got to give heed to the doctrine. Continue in them. Stay in the word of God, Timothy's charging him as a man, as a leader, and a minister of Jesus Christ. [20:25] And so, saying all these things, come back to Colossians just to make a connection here, if you can pick this up. In Colossians 4, we read this, it was in verse 15 and verse 16 where he mentions the church of Laodicea. [20:38] and not to take the time, but you understand the church age and the last days and the symbolism there of the church in Revelation 3 that matches this age. [20:51] And notice the very next verse, in verse 17, some similar words that Paul writes to a certain man, Archippus, just like he says to Timothy. Verse 17, and say to Archippus, take heed to the ministry that thou hast received the Lord, let thou fulfill it. [21:09] Now to me, that's a connection in 1 Timothy chapter 4 to that man, same thing with the Colossians or to Archippus in this connection of this Laodicean age where the latter times, it said in 1 Timothy 4 verse 1, and how everybody's getting pulled away and deceived and seduced and believing lies and afraid to stand for the truth and he says, take heed to thyself and unto the doctrine, Timothy, he tells the other brother to take heed unto the ministry which you received of the Lord. [21:43] Why? That you fulfill it. You gotta finish your course, men. You can't fall aside. You can't swerve and turn aside and follow this vain jangling. Don't worry about what the world's doing. [21:54] Hold faith. Stand up. Now continue in 1 Timothy and we'll skip ahead to chapter number 6. 1 Timothy chapter number 6. [22:06] In this Laodicean age of apostasy where they're worshipping science and what they call science, Paul warns them to take heed to themselves and to their ministry to fulfill it, to finish. [22:18] 1 Timothy 6 and we'll pick it up in verse 3, 3 through 5. Paul says, If any man teach otherwise and consent not to wholesome words, words, words, words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ and to the doctrine, there it is again, which is according to godliness. [22:40] So if anybody has a problem with what we'll just call the truth, verse 4, he's proud. Notice this, knowing nothing. Sounds like our crowd. but doting about questions. [22:53] Sounds like that crowd again. questions and strifes of words whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmising, perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness. [23:10] From such, withdraw thyself. What is the deal here, the issue, the actions of man in this time? They're teaching things that are otherwise or contrary to the truth. [23:21] They're opposing in the sense that it says that they consent not to wholesome words or even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ and to the doctrine that's according to God. [23:31] They don't consent to that. So they don't like that. They disagree with the truth, with the doctrine of the Lord Jesus Christ and they fight against it. And so the result is knowing nothing, doting about questions. [23:47] That's them. And notice this also in verse number 4. It says, questions and strifes of words. Strifes of words. Know what they're doing today? [23:59] They're printing books and they're using their words to create strife and questions and debate and cause division and question your faith and take it away. [24:13] Their whole goal is to rip away the truth of the word of God and rip you away from believing it and being so foolish, naive and helpless and then exercising your mind and your ability. [24:27] They're using words. They're doting about questions and strifes of words. It's not, they're not using in the laboratories, they're not using evidence and proofs, they're using words. [24:41] They're writing essays. They're causing foolish men that to, or they're using their own intellect to tower over the common man and cause them to lose faith. [24:56] So there again, it shows up again. Now look to the end of this chapter. Chapter 6, verse 20 and 21. Last two verses. Last charge in this epistle to Timothy. Verse 20, O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust. [25:11] There's some more of the same language. Avoid, avoiding, profane and vain babblings and oppositions of, notice this, science, falsely so called, which some professing have erred concerning the faith. [25:29] Now there's, this is just every chapter here. It's coming all over this epistle to Timothy and connected to the warnings of the end times and I didn't give it to you of the, or it'll be the next one, never mind. [25:46] He's worried about them erring concerning the faith. They're babbling on about profane things, things that are, that are removing God and his giving glory to God, but rather giving it to man. [25:58] And they're vain, their babblings are vain and there's no substance to them. It means nothing. It goes nowhere. And they're opposing the teachings of the word of God with what they're calling science. [26:14] Now, this is, they're supposing themselves then to be scientists, I guess, in what they're doing, opposing, in their oppositions. [26:26] And what are they in opposition to, verse 21 says, profess, which some professing have erred concerning the faith. That's what their problem is. That's what they're opposing. [26:38] So, Timothy's told to avoid that nonsense. They call it science, but it's not science. It's falsely called science, but they've erred from the faith. [26:50] Again, there it is. And his command, his response, is to avoid their teachings. Now, I want you to take a note here, if you don't already have this, that the word science in your King James Bible has been removed in all the new Bibles, or I shouldn't even call them Bibles, they're versions of the Bible. [27:07] It's been ripped out and changed to knowledge. And science is knowledge. But, for some reason, that word wasn't good enough for all the new versions and their versions. [27:19] And I know why, because it was truth and because the devil's doing it to use science now, and it doesn't contradict with his Bibles. But in this book, it gives you a strong, straight-up warning that they're opposing, or that Timothy's to avoid these oppositions of science, where science opposes the truth. [27:44] And it's falsely so-called science. It's removed from all the new versions. It's destroying or concealing this teaching and this connection to how the modern era today is using science as its God and as its way of teaching what they proclaim or their agenda or what they want to say truth. [28:06] And this has been in this King James Bible for 400 plus years before science was ever a God in America or in the world. And it was there proclaiming that truth for us today. [28:19] the new versions have removed it because it's too true. It's too true and it's too on point. And what you see from this is you should always take note to these things is that the Word of God as always is so far ahead of the movements of man. [28:41] For over 400 years that phrase has been in this book science falsely so-called. and it's always just kind of rubbed against a certain element all that time but today it is so on point that it's just removed. [28:58] Get it out. Take it out of the text and now it's not a problem anymore. And that's what you got today in all your modern wannabe Christianity churches and wannabe Bibles is there's no conflict and there's no contradiction to what science is teaching falsely so-called to what the Scripture warns us to watch out for and avoid. [29:20] I don't know if you remember but a few weeks ago I showed you in I don't remember the message now something with peace oh okay about the word pride. [29:32] I showed you how in this Bible the word pride is connected a few times to Sodom and how that's the thing today that's the word the flag they fly is the pride flag and little did they know that for a long time God had that in His book and the connection to His book so far ahead of man He's just following through just catching up and there's more there's more in here that we haven't seen but if the Lord tarries another hundred years another two hundred years God forbid if He tarries more light will just keep popping out of that book it'll keep showing itself to be so far ahead of its time it'll be so accurate thank God for that book now God didn't call His preacher or His young pastor here to take on the academic or the intellectual world and debate them and confront them and to build arguments and publish material and to chop them down at the knees look at 2 Timothy chapter 2 he told them to avoid them he told them to refuse them he said neither give heed to them all right 2 Timothy chapter 2 and we'll just read a few of these verses here look at verse 14 through 18 don't want to have time to get the things that he's talking about of these things put them in remembrance something he says just like he did earlier charging them before the [30:58] Lord that they strive not strive not about words to no profit but to the subverting of the hearers what would he be talking about well the issue is a little bit different in his day but it certainly fits our issues today and he's telling them not to strive to words with no profit all they do is subvert the hearers and look what he tells them to do rather verse 15 study to show thyself singular approved unto God a workman that needeth not to be ashamed rightly dividing the word of truth but shun profane and vain babblings there it is again for they will increase amen unto more ungodliness that's it you got rid of God you don't have to worry about him don't even know about him don't even think he exists not accountable for anything and now you're wide open for your sin and it's wide open and now the sin's just coming out and coming out and getting exalted and it's disgusting and it's the truth of the word of God they will increase and yes they have increased unto more ungodliness and their word will eat doth a canker of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus who concerning the truth have there it is again erred turned aside swerved have erred saying the resurrection has passed already and overthrow the faith of some and so we don't want to go down any further through the passage but their actions they're subverting believers and others with their words that have no profit profane and vain babblings again they're erring they're overthrowing the faith of some and the [32:33] Christian response is to strive not with them to study verse 15 get in the book again to shun that in verse 16 and in verse 21 if a man therefore purge himself from these purge himself from these what's that it's those men verse 17 and their teaching and their error you're supposed to get away from it stay away from it purge himself from these look at chapter 3 we'll wrap this up here in the next chapter 2nd Timothy chapter 3 and verses 5 through 8 speaking of the last days in verse 1 perilous times and a description of men we read through this passage just maybe last night and verse 5 says having a form of godliness but denying the power thereof from such turn away see I keep saying the same thing to Timothy for of this sort are they which creep into houses and leads captive silly women laden with sins led away with diverse lust ever learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth and then he talks about some men verse 8 now as [33:57] Janice and Jambres withstood Moses so do these also resist the truth men of corrupt minds reprobate concerning the faith it's a different issue back then I know but do you not get do you not see how this language is so applicable to the garbage that we got going on in our world and teaching and against the word of God and how these are heady in verse 4 high minded lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God this stuff is so on point for today this bible is not out of date not even close and the issues Paul deals with they're the same application just a different issue the same way to approach it the same way to look at it and so they're leading captive in verse number 6 it says lead captive silly women laden with sins led away with diverse lust so they're leading captive what I'll call the simple the simple like in Romans 16 by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple and so they're leading astray the simple that's what man's doing the atheist in our day these are their actions they're resisting the truth they're reprobate concerning the faith that's a bad place to be reprobate you can't even receive the truth when you're reprobate of a reprobate mind you know that word in the bible they the command then in verse 5 is to turn away from such turn away now our time's up here tonight but if you want to scribble these ones down in [35:36] Titus chapter 1 verses 9 through 14 and Titus chapter 3 verses 9 10 let's do that last one we'll do that quick Titus 3 just a page over he deals with something in Titus 1 and you'll see that he describes the action them subverting whole houses teaching things they ought not giving and he tells them not to give heed in verse 14 and now come down to Titus chapter 3 and verses 9 through 11 but avoid foolish questions and genealogies and contentions and strivings about the law see that was the topic then they're not striving about the law all day they're striving about way worse than that they're striving about even the existence of the Lord God himself it's far worse for they are unprofitable in vain verse 10 a man that is a heretic after the first and second admonition reject knowing that he that is such is subverted and sinneth being condemned of himself that word subverted showed up earlier today and it's the word overthrow the faith of some that's in the passage what it is anyway this is these pastoral epistles [36:49] I hope you saw the language is so redundant and there's so many things Paul's warning these preachers and dealing with them about and there's most of the time he's just saying stay away from it turn it off you've got a job to do take heed to yourself don't get sucked away with debates and arguing and thinking you're going to win them I know that sounds good and I know you can make somebody can make the argument well if I don't then they're going to go to hell if they're that if they believe that system and I'm talking about the men of corrupt minds reprobate concerning the faith I'm not talking about the innocent kid that's getting taught lies in high school that needs a presentation of the gospel I'm talking about the man that Paul's talking about who has swerved who's turned aside and now he's refusing the truth and he refuses the light God gave him and he loved darkness rather than light and Paul says you stay away from them it's satanic what's going on with them you don't get caught up in it because that's just going to distract you from what God has called you to fulfill and when Paul closes his epistle to [37:57] Timothy in chapter 4 and read it he said I fought a good fight and I finished my course and I've kept the faith and these are things that these men just two verses later three verses later says Demas has forsaken me and the things it's all over these end times and it's all over these pastoral epistles that are warnings of the end times what's coming we're seeing it coming we're seeing it be fulfilled and I want us to be sure that we understand it and have our eyes open to it and realize this bible is so prophetic even in the pastoral epistles what a thing now be careful stay away and don't get sucked into something that's not that God's not called you to because you think you know the answer now if the Lord brings somebody into your path and you're witnessing and a conversation opens up by all mean give it a go give them the word of God give them what you can just like these are things you've heard last night but don't think that you're going to go out there and tear down their system and their walls because this thing is getting built up from the devil the God of this world and God's allowing him to do it and he said he's going to do it and we're watching it happen don't pretend you're going to tear it down you know these guys say these stupid things like [39:15] I'm going to charge hell with a squirt gun and stuff like that it's the same dumb mentality of I'm going to defeat this by the power of God the Holy Ghost in me no you're not you're not going to defeat what God has allowed and ordained and prophesied that's going to come to pass it's coming to pass it's happening in our lifetime men are they've turned they worship the creature more than the creator and I'm not telling you to go crawl in a shell that's the worst thing you could do there's souls that need to be saved and work that needs to be done and a savior that wants to is not willing that any should perish but as far as a system and how it's being put together and built up you're not going to chip it not you not me but one on one be faithful and maybe I could do this again to you got a couple days here where we can do something for Christ and try to get a lost person here and get them under the sound of the gospel so let's be faithful with those things that are right amen all right we'll be dismissed father thank you for tonight
