I got saved when I was four years old and I thank God for that. And like you said, we've been in Southern California, been here for about a week now, preaching some meetings. [0:14] So we thank the Lord, but we're looking forward to this morning, what God's going to do for us. And being able to see the building and see what God's doing, it's a blessing. So if we got any young people in here, say whoop whoop. [0:27] Wow, that hurt older people too. Good. Well, that's the first sound you're going to hear when you get your license. Woo-woo, pull over, please. Please pull over. I like getting young people involved in church. [0:39] Go to 2 Timothy, actually 1 Timothy chapter 4. 1 Timothy chapter 4. I like getting young people involved in the church. I do a lot with young people. We got a youth camp. [0:51] About 400 kids come over to New York and we thank God for that. I pastored in upstate New York for 10 years and just went into evangelism. And so I escaped the communist country of New York. [1:06] And it's wild. Now, how many of y'all have ever been on the East Coast? Oh, wow. Almost everybody. Good. Good. Right there from New York to D.C. and Maryland, Virginia, and then Jersey and PA is the most people living in this country. [1:25] And that whole area right there from New York to D.C. is controlled by the world. A lot of people don't know that. Most people living in our country is in between those states right there. [1:40] And they're all, it's controlled by the world. You got the Pentagon and then you also have where all the, in New York City, where all the countries of the world meet. They're leaders. And it's a, it's a wild place, man, that all, all, all that right there and being controlled. [1:56] So how many of y'all know Sleepy Joe? All right. Well, he was at my graduation and I was from Delaware, graduated in Delaware. And my dad got the witness to him. [2:08] And my dad told him, he said, hey, Joe, are you saved? And he said, yes. He said, now I know you're lying because you're a politic. He said, poly, he said, poly means, politics mean this. [2:20] Poly means many and ticks mean bloodsuckers. Amen. He told him that. He double dog dared him to come and hear him preach and he didn't. But Joe Biden, I know our president has been witness to but rejected Christ. [2:33] Y'all need to pray for him. And as, as things go on in this world, I know this, we're getting down to the end, man. The Lord's coming back soon. Amen. And what a, what a blessing. [2:44] I said, I can't wait. I hope the trumpet happens today. We get out of this mess and our kids don't have to grow up in this mess. Amen. But praise God. While we're still here, we need to serve them though. [2:54] Amen. Look at 1 Timothy chapter 4. Look what it says here. It says, now the spirit speaketh expressly. Now that word expressly means plainly. [3:06] Listen, it is not that hard to hear from the spirit of God. A lot of people make it hard, but it's not that hard. It's not that hard to hear. You got a word of God. You got the spirit inside of you. [3:17] Amen. When you got saved, you got the spirit inside of you. And God cut away that soul, away from that flesh so the spirit can be inside of you. And there he dwells inside of you. But you got the word of God. [3:29] You got preaching. And the Holy Spirit will speak to you very plainly. It's not that hard. We make it hard. We have a lot of other noises around that try to keep us from hearing the spirit of God. [3:45] And so you got to be careful of that. But I want you to look. It says that in the latter times, some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, doctors of devils, speaking lies and hypocrisies, having their conscience seared with a hot iron. [4:00] You say, what's going on? Well, what's going on is we're here. A lot of people are hearing other voices but the spirit of God. You ever wonder why, you know, that a lot of people ain't getting saved like they should be? [4:15] Why ain't these pews filled? Where are they? They're laying home. They're watching on TV. Maybe they're not even watching out. Maybe they're on their boats. [4:26] Saved. Born again. Supposed to be Bible-believing. Believe the King James. But they have seducing spirits. Doctors of devils. [4:37] And you better be careful what you listen to. I'm telling you what. You'll get upset at church. You'll get upset at something. And you'll start hearing other voices. That's what happens. [4:49] I've seen it over and over. Pastor 10 years. Worked under my dad for about 13, 14 years. After Bible school and seen all that stuff. And before that, when we had the church, just seen people. [5:01] What in the world are they thinking? What are they thinking? Because they're getting seduced by other spirits. And they believe something else. [5:13] The Bible says here in verse 3. Look what it says. Forbidding to what? Marry. Forbidding to marry. Now, we got a lot of that. We got a lot of people forbidden to marry. [5:24] And at this time, at this time that Paul's writing this, there was a lot of people forbidden to marry. When you get married, you submit yourself one to another. Right? Hold your place here. [5:35] Go to Ephesians chapter 5. You with me? Say amen. Kids say woo-woo. There we go. All right. Now I know the kids ain't sleeping on me. Ephesians chapter 5. [5:47] Go to Ephesians chapter 5. We know these verses. I'm not going to get through this whole lesson. [5:59] I know that. But I want you to get this down. This is very important. I want to hear from the Holy Spirit of God. And you say, well, I'm not charismatic. No, we're not charismatic. [6:11] But I want to hear from God. I want to hear from God this morning. I want to hear from God when I read my Bible. I want to hear from God when I'm in troubles or when I'm depressed or down and out. [6:23] I don't want all those other things distracting me. So there's a great lesson Paul wrote down. He said they're forbidden to marry. And I'm going to apply this spiritually to you. Look what it says here in verse 25. [6:36] Husbands, love your wives. Even as Christ loved the church and gave himself for it. That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of the water by the word. [6:48] That he might present it to himself a glorious church. Not having spot nor wrinkle or any such thing. But that it should be holy and without blemish. [7:00] So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. And so here we see the comparison here that when Paul's talking and writing. [7:12] He's talking about Christ in the church. And he's using a husband and wife. My beautiful wife's here with me. Lynette. And when we got married I learned to submit to her as she learned to submit to me. [7:25] Now I know we're Bible believers. Man that woman's supposed to submit all the. But there's things that I need to be careful with. Is because she's a little wiser in when it comes to the children. [7:36] For example. Every time I give the kids medicine. It freaks me out. Babe how much do I need to give them? If she's not there I'm calling her. How much? MML whatever. [7:48] You know. I don't want to overdose them. Maybe I should. But I don't want to overdose them. Listen my wife. She had hip surgery back in. Two years ago in April. [7:59] And boy we. I was going to be this good husband. I got a little bit of dyslexia. Man I thought man. I'm going to help her out. And so I read the directions. I overdosed her on oxycodone. [8:12] She never paid attention. She was in so much pain. Brother I was trying to help her out. She was supposed. When we called. Because we needed more. They said. My Lord. How many you been taking? I was giving her 12 a day. [8:23] Man I about killed my wife man. She. When we found out. She got laughing. I said what are you laughing at? She said you should have got an insurance policy on me. Amen. I felt this small. [8:34] I said never again. I said never again. I don't want to mess with that stuff. But I have to submit myself to that. You understand that men. And some of you men know what I'm talking about. [8:45] I'm not. My wife doesn't run the home. But there's certain things that I don't know. If I'm going to help out. And in the kitchen. I need to ask for some things. Amen. And so. [8:56] I got to submit myself to some things. And the Bible says here. Submitting yourselves. In verse 21. One to another. In the fear of God. So when Paul's writing over there. In 1 Timothy chapter 4. [9:07] He's talking about forbidden to marry. I'm going to apply this spiritually. You better learn how to submit to God. If we're supposed to be the bride. And I. Man I don't know how it works. [9:18] I'm a bride of Christ. You're the bride of Christ. You better learn how to submit. To. God. Hey listen. [9:29] There's a lot of Christians forbidden to marry. Well. I'm glad I got saved. But I'm not submitting to him. See that thing. You better learn to submit. You say why. [9:40] Because he wants to take the word of God. And wash you. And clean you. And get you to where he wants you to be. So when he presents you. To God. You'll be washed in the blood. You'll be clean. [9:50] You'll be spotless. But you're going to have to submit yourself. You're going to have to submit yourself. Hey the spirit speaks very plainly. But we don't want to submit ourselves. [10:02] See we're submitted to sports. We're submitted to our news. We're submitted to everything else. Our job. But God. And when you start learning how to submit yourself. Man it makes your life a lot easier. [10:14] We watch Christians all the time. That don't submit themselves. I remember a guy in my church. I remember my brother-in-law preached. And he raised his hand. [10:25] And he said this. He said listen. I need y'all to pray. I know how to submit to God. But I have a problem submitting to man. Well red flag went up for me. The guy ends up leaving our church. [10:36] Because he didn't want to submit to his pastor. Nah I'm an easy going guy. I'm not as strict. Or putting my thumb down on people. But he didn't like it. Because he couldn't have control. [10:48] And what happens is. You don't learn how to submit to your boss. Submit to your pastor. You ain't going to be able to submit to God. You see how that thing works. [10:58] Oh I can submit to God. But I have a problem submitting to man. No. You have a problem submitting to God. Because you can't submit to somebody here. Children same thing. If you can't submit yourself to your parents. [11:09] You're going to be distracted. You will not hear the spirit of God talking. You won't hear it. But when you submit yourself. You'll start hearing them very clearly. [11:20] Because it's expressly. It's plain. You submit yourself to your husbands. You submit yourself to your boss. You submit yourself in the right thing. [11:32] As long as it's not sin. Now listen ladies. Your husband will say. Listen. What we're going to do. Jesus is going to come. And we're going to drink this Kool-Aid. And we're going to put Nikes on. And put blankets over us. But this Kool-Aid has poison in it. [11:44] That happened here in California. Y'all know that right? In the 90s. God got some people. They were submitting to them. But hey listen. If it's against God's word. [11:55] I can't submit to that. Hey honey. Let's go rob a bank. Nope. My God's word says something different. You got to be careful though. I had a lady in my church. Her husband was back sending himself. [12:06] They got to end up getting a divorce. God got a hold of her heart. She wrote a letter. She let me read it. She wrote a letter to him. And apologizing to him. For all the times she didn't submit. Under the things that weren't sin. You know what God did for that lady? [12:20] Boy she's heard the spirit of God. And God's guided her. And blessed her tremendously. You say why? Because she got that thing right. With her ex-husband. He said that he read it. [12:32] He cried. He didn't. He said what in the world? And he was a jerk man. He was a loser. He played video games. She'd hold the. She'd keep a job. [12:42] He couldn't keep a job. Crazy stuff. Matter of fact. As the men of my church. I wasn't there. Before I came. They were helping moving them out. He stayed on the video game and couch. [12:52] Until that was the last thing. Until they unplugged it. He didn't help them move at all. And here's this lady. God gets a hold of her heart. She says I want to tell. I want to say I'm sorry for not submitting. [13:02] When you said you didn't want the dogs in the house. And blah, blah, blah. Some of you right there bowed right up. I wouldn't apologize. That sucker. But God got a hold of her heart. [13:14] And said you get that thing right. I will bless you. You say what was happening? She was hearing the spirit of God. Because she started submitting to the spirit of God. [13:27] The word of God. The Bible says obey them. That have the rule over you. And submit yourselves. For they watch for your soul. [13:39] As they that must give account. That they may do it with joy. Amen. And not with grief. For it is unprofitable for you. I had a man in my church. [13:51] He got upset with me about something. Didn't come to church for two weeks. Wouldn't answer my calls. Stupid. It was just so dumb. And it was over some. I was just trying to do things in proper and order. [14:04] And he was upset about it. He come knocking on my door. Car running. He wanted me to get in his car. I said no let's get in my car. He was a little hothead. And I remember getting in that car. [14:15] And I said before we start. Let me ask you this. I said did your pastor sin against you. Or was it your preference. As soon as I said that he went. Pastor I'm so sorry. [14:27] It's my preference. See if you keep that in your mind. With your pastor. Or any Sunday school teacher. Youth leader. Whatever it is. Even your boss. [14:38] Is it preference. Or did they sin against me. See we like to make our preference. When we have a preference. We think somebody sinned against us. But really no. [14:49] It's our preference. Amen. Pastor wants to do it this way. Here's one. I heard this story before. A new pastor come in. [15:00] There's a big size church. And he come in. And he said guys listen. They worked in the office. They had four or five people in the office. They're at the church. And he said look. He said I'm sorry. [15:10] But we cannot have coffee. In the office. Man where I'm from. Man they had IVs with coffee. Man I'm. Negative 30 man. [15:22] They're drinking coffee all the time. And boy what a thing. That pastor sinned against us. He said I don't want to have coffee in here. Because it made me. It makes me sick. And I'm sorry. [15:33] I know some of y'all like coffee and stuff. But if we. I don't want it in the office at all. Well. Everybody's like okay. They did. And some people complained. [15:44] But here's. Here's the test. He would leave and go away to preach. People would bring coffee in the office. You know what that shows me? You're not submitted. [15:58] You're not. Because if he said. It's not sin. It's just your preference. See. This is. This is how far we got away from Christianity folks. [16:09] Well. Well. They're not here. What they don't know. Won't hurt them. Had a youth director. Used to say that brother. God broke his neck. He died early at 40 some years old. [16:22] He used to tell us teens that all the time. What they don't know. Won't hurt them. See. If you're going to be submittive. You're going to be submittive. Like okay. Pastor doesn't want that. [16:33] Then we ain't going to do it. If pastor's not here. Hey. If mom and dad don't want that. If mom and dad are out on a date. We ain't going to do it. And what happens is. [16:44] You'll start hearing the spirit of God. He'll start speaking to you. And showing you things. When you submit yourselves. When it's not your preference. And it's not sin. [16:57] But we have a problem with that. Don't we? All right. You with me? Say amen. Go to 1 Peter. Go to 1 Peter 5. [17:07] Go to 1 Peter 5. Trying to help you this morning. We've gotten really relaxed as Christians. We made ourselves. The final authority. [17:18] Instead of the word of God. Listen. This stuff preaches to me too. I go to people's preachers churches. And if they want something. I try to submit myself. [17:29] I'm submitted to your pastor right now. What he wants. And so I try to be careful. You say why? It doesn't matter. If I don't like it or not. As long as it ain't sin. [17:41] I got to submit myself. Look at verse 5. Of 1 Peter chapter 5. It says. Likewise ye younger submit yourselves. Unto the older. [17:52] Yea all of you. Be subject one to another. And be clothed with what? Humility. Hmm. Hey listen. Being humble and humility. [18:03] Two different things. That's a whole nother study. For God resisted the what? And giveth grace unto the humble. [18:13] You want grace? Humble yourselves. You know God can't humble you? God can't humble you. [18:24] Oh yeah. You'll get stung by the humble bee. You'll go through the humble machine. But I've watched them still buck themselves against God. The only person that can humble you is you. [18:40] The Bible says humble yourselves. Humble thyselves. Humble thyselves. God might put you through the humbling machine. But it's going to take you humbling yourselves. [18:55] And you need to learn that. Go to James 4. Go to James chapter 4. James chapter 4. [19:12] Look at verse 7. Look at verse 7. Submit yourselves. God can't make you submit. I'm glad God ain't up there holding a gun up to our heads and saying if you don't submit. [19:26] You know. You know what God's done? He put a law in years and years and years ago. You know what it's called? The law of sowing and reaping. You sow seed. [19:39] You get the fruit. The law of sowing and reaping. God put that in a long time ago. But God's not twisting your arm to make you serve him. God's not trying to make you submit yourselves. [19:50] He said submit yourselves therefore unto God. Resist the devil. And he will flee. You want the devil out of your life? What's the key? Submit yourself to God. Humbling yourself. [20:03] Draw nigh to God and he'll draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands ye sinners. Purify your hearts ye double minded. Say what is it? I. Forbidden to marry. [20:15] What you're. What he's saying is that you're forbidden to. You don't want to submit yourselves. To God. More. The more you submit. You say well I go to church. I go. There's things. [20:25] I'm not. Listen. I'm not talking about the easy stuff. I'm talking about the hard stuff. Because you guys are here at nine o'clock in the morning. Son. That's early. I'm used to ten. [20:36] I'm a lover of the covers. And I had to drive 45 minutes this morning to get here. I thought. Son. That's early. I said. I wonder who's going to be there. There's a. There's a good bunch of people here. [20:47] You want God. You're here because you love the Lord. But what's in your life that you know you have a problem submitting to? See we're not here just to be. [21:00] We're not here just to. Just to be. Clock in and clock out. We're here because we want to get something from God. So he can grow us even more. I wonder. I always wonder. [21:12] I've been in church all my life. I always wondered if. If I submit myself more to the Lord. What could God do with me? And what could he do for the church? So I got to find out. [21:25] What's that thing. That I need to learn to submit to. And. And humble myself to. So I can hear God from my next steps. Folks. [21:36] It doesn't matter. How old you get. Or. How long you've been in church. And how much you know. I remember. Hearing Brother Peacock. Talk about. Dr. Ruckman there. [21:47] Riding down the road. And there he is. 93 years old. And he has his sunglasses on. They're heading to go preach somewhere. And tears running down his face. He looked over at him. And said. Hey doc. What's going on? He said. [21:58] Man. I just read something. I just never saw before. God just deal him. I'm. I'm sitting there going. What? 93 years old. [22:09] It knows the things. If I just had. If I. If I just had a thumb drive. Of what he knew. Putting it back in my head. Hallelujah. Would be amazing. And there he is. [22:20] He's at my dad's church. Sitting in the chair. And he got this book. He's reading. He's going. Man. This is good stuff. My dad looked at him. When he come in. He said. Man. This is a good book. Dad said. You wrote that book. [22:33] And he looked at him. He said. Oh yeah. I did. He said. I forgot half of the stuff here. He said. It was good stuff. But at 93 years old. [22:44] I hope I still. Trying to get something out of that book. And yielded my heart to that book. To God's word. Because I want to hear. That spirit speak to me. I need it to speak to me. [22:58] I need it to talk to me. All right. Go back to. Second. First Timothy chapter four. You with me? Say amen. No whoops. [23:09] There you go. Second Timothy. Excuse me. First Timothy chapter four. [23:20] Keep on wanting to say second. He says. Forbidden to marry. And commanding to abstain from meats. Abstaining from meats. Commanding to abstain from meats. [23:32] Now for the sake of time. For the sake of time here. I want to make sure that. We. We'll look at the verse. Go to Acts chapter 10. We'll look at it. [23:43] Come on. We'll do it. I told you. I won't be able to get through all this. Acts chapter 10. I'm stating from meats. [23:57] Strong meat is given to them. Paul tells the Corinthians. He says. Hey. He said. I couldn't feed you with strong meat. He said. [24:08] Because you're a carnal. Now we know carnal. Carnival. Fleshly. But in that past. That carnalness was. Was envy. And strife. Comparing yourselves. [24:19] Among yourselves. People that. Were trying to live clean. And holy. People that wanted to live for God. But they were. So puffed up in their. Own minds. Of what they do. [24:31] Oh. Some are Paul. Some are Apollos. And that's what happens. In churches. As we. As they've been going. For a long time. We get very proudful. We get that. [24:41] Carnalness in there. But I want strong meat. I like the milk. I like those things. But I want strong meat. And he said. Abstaining from. Listen. If you. [24:52] If you never. Submit yourself. You'll never get to the strong meat. You'll never get to the doctrine. You'll never understand. I've had people. I don't understand. They don't get it. [25:03] Been in church for a long time. It's because you won't submit yourself. All right. Here's. Here's. Here's. Here's. Here's. Peter here. And he goes to Joppa. And there he is. [25:14] He raised some people. A lady from the dead. And a lot of things were going on. But here he is. He. He. He goes to sleep. And up on the. A housetop. In Acts chapter 10. [25:25] And look at verse 10. Acts chapter 10. And he. And he. And he falls into this trance. At the end of that verse. And he saw heaven open. And God begins to come down. [25:37] Look at verse 14. We're skipping a few things here. And Peter said. Not so Lord. What was it so? There was these. Unclean beasts. These creeping things. That God says. [25:47] Hey. Rise and eat. And he said. No. Not so. You see. He was still stuck with the law. And he said. Not so. For I have. Never eaten anything. That is common. [25:59] Common or uncommon. Excuse me. Unclean. Excuse me. And look at verse 15. And the voice spoke unto him. Again. The second time. That God have. What God have cleansed. [26:10] That called not. Thou. Common. So what God was doing. If you know this story. What God was doing. He was preparing Peter. In his heart. [26:22] Because there was. Getting ready. Cornelius was sending. Two Gentile men. He was a Gentile. Cornelius. He was sending these men. To come find him. And Joppa. And when he's at Joppa. [26:34] You know. Jonah left Joppa. Joppa means. The place called beautiful. It's a type of a church. Don't leave the place. Called beautiful. So here he is. He's in Joppa. [26:45] He has his dream. And listen. I'm not saying. We're supposed to have dreams. Or anything like that. And there's. We got a. A pure word of God. Amen. But what I am trying to show you here. [26:56] If you write. Read that passage. Is God was preparing him. For something that he was getting ready to show him. He. These two men come. He goes. He preaches. And then God shows up. [27:07] In Acts. Acts is a transitional book. God shows up. And he looks around for the Jewish guys. And he says. Who for. Who could say these Gentiles can't receive the Holy Ghost. [27:17] They didn't get baptized. To receive the Holy Ghost. They got the Holy Ghost right there. God was preparing his heart. So when Paul came. To show him that. Hey. The gospel is going to the Gentiles. [27:30] He was revealing. A doctrinal truth to him. That he didn't know. Now. Saying all that. I'm not saying God's going to reveal. [27:41] Some new doctrinal truth to us. But what I am saying. When you submit yourself. That book becomes alive. And you start to see the truth of the Bible. [27:53] I was talking to my brother last night. And he was telling me all this stuff. That what the Lord did. God has revealed truth to you brother. Because you've submitted. And the more you submit to the Lord. [28:04] The more truth he'll show you in that book. The more you'll be able to eat meat. And get stronger. To be able to help somebody else. And the problem is. [28:15] We don't want to submit ourselves. And so what happens is. We don't. We have a lot of churches. That don't eat strong meat anymore. It's very watered down. [28:27] And then when the pastor preaches on something. And God shows him something. Through the word of God. And he begins to explain something. Guess what. Guess what happens. We leave going. I didn't understand any of that. [28:40] Because you're not hearing the spirit of God. Now I'll tell you this. Some of you need to get off of social media. Listen. This has ruined us. [28:52] You're a tweeter. And all that stuff. I'm not saying it's a sin to have it. But I told the church the other night. Me and my wife at the beginning of this year. We put a block on. That shuts it off after an hour. [29:03] So we won't be consumed. Now listen. The older folks are like. Yeah. Amen. There's young. Young. Kids. They didn't go. Well what about your newspaper? [29:14] What about your news? Really. We let so. And we're so busy. That we can't hear the spirit of God. [29:28] What about your sports? We can't hear the spirit of God. Your job. You get consumed with work. I have. I have to shut it down. [29:40] Someone said man. I need to. I need to spend some time with God. I need to spend some time with my family. That's important. I need to spend time. But we're going to have a cleaning day on Saturday. [29:51] Well. Pastor. I'm sorry. I can't come. Oh. I can't be here. On a Wednesday night. Whatever. Whatever service you have. I've watched people do that. It's very important. [30:03] You know. God is going to reveal a truth to you. You know. Our jobs as pastors. Our jobs as pastors. Is try to. [30:13] To feed the flock. And if your pastor. He gets up. And he feeds the flock. But here's the other thing. Everybody's like. Well. I'm not getting fed there. Well. [30:25] The problem is. Is. You're so full of everything else. He can't feed you. And so. If you start getting hungry. It changes things. You say. [30:35] How do you know. I've watched it in my own life. And I've watched it in other people's lives. In my church. They. They ain't getting nothing. They ain't getting nothing. They're falling asleep. While I'm preaching. Or teaching. I've watched it over and over. [30:46] And all of a sudden. God gets a hold of their heart. And they start submitting. They. They. They move from the back. To the front. They're taking notes. They're asking questions. [30:57] They're hungry for the word of God. You say. What happened. They just submitted themselves. Then God begins to reveal. Some strong meat. And they start eating steak. And it starts to be good. Amen. [31:09] Boy. They begin to enjoy it. They begin to enjoy it. Now. Listen to me. When you read your Bible. You start to see things. I had to tell people. Had this lady. Listen. [31:19] Where I was. Folks. How long has this church been here? 35 years? Okay. You had a good pastor before. Got a good pastor now. [31:31] Still King James. Am I right? Doctrinal preaching. Right? The church that I took. Was 25 years. Before I came. They didn't have a pastor. [31:42] Longer than three years. Those people didn't even know. Church etiquette. They didn't. They don't. They didn't know. [31:52] Who Dr. Rumpel was. Howes was. They didn't know. All these guys. All they knew. Is the Christian radio. And they would hear. John MacArthur. [32:03] Or some famous guy. Out there. And all that. That's all they knew. I was there 10 years. Got them grounded. In the King James Bible. Got them soul winning. Got them coming to the altar. [32:13] Saying amen. All that kind of stuff. That we take for granted. That we grew up in. And let me tell you something. About those people. When I had to leave them. [32:26] They were. We had no kids. Listen. We had no kids. In that church. We got up to 80. They had a church split. We had all this stuff. That happened. I had no kids. And they were just my kids. [32:37] When I told my kids. We were going into evangelism. They begin to weep. They said. What about the people. You know why. They love those people. They were hungry. For the word of God. Boy. [32:49] I'd preach. But I teach. And God would show up. And just be a little bit of us. And boy. God would show up. And up there. In the cold. Cold nights. And he'd meet with us. He'd say. Why. There was a bunch of people. [33:00] That submitted themselves. They got saved. When they were 60. Got saved. I had a lady come. She was looking for a church. That just taught the Bible. And she was in a St. John Episcopal church. [33:11] And she's got a Bible. She began to read. She got saved on her own. And she began to read her Bible. And she would ask the woman preacher. Why don't we use the Bible? Why don't we use that Bible? [33:22] And boy. They'd give her all this junk. So she said. I begin to look. And I went to a church of Christ. And on Wednesday nights. And she said. I went there on Wednesday nights. Because we didn't have Wednesday night service. [33:32] And she said. I'm sitting there. And they opened the Bible. And another book. And I thought. Well this is good. This is better. Her name's Miss Sharon. And Miss Sharon wrote by our sign one day. And it said. [33:43] If you're shopping for a church. We're open on Sunday. And she said. Well I am shopping for a church. Well she was loyal. And so one Wednesday night. [33:53] That church of Christ. Had closed. They had canceled their service. And she said. I remember that Baptist church. That Central Bible Baptist church. They still had Wednesday night service. [34:04] So she came in late. And boy. I remember. She sat in the back right there. And boy. I was teaching in Colossians. And I got done. All she could do. Was sit there. And go. Look at her Bible. Go man. [34:15] I come back there. I was shaking hands. I come back there. I said. Ma'am. I said. Are you okay? She looks up at me. And she said. I just got fed meat. Now listen. My mind. [34:26] I'm like. Nobody talks like that. Unless they've been reading that book. Unless they went to another. King James Bible believing church. But people don't talk like that. [34:37] And so I got to talk to her. She started telling me where she went. To the St. John Episcopal Church. And so the next Wednesday night. She went back to that church. Well they canceled again. She came again. Well then she came a Sunday. [34:49] Easter Sunday. She watched two people walk down. Get saved. I did a presentation on the crucifixion of Christ. She sat there and wept. And listen. Let me tell you about the character of Miss Sharon. She called that woman preacher on Monday. [35:00] Said I need to meet with him. She said. I'm resigning my membership. And I'm going to a church that teaches me the Bible. Where I can be fed. Now I'm not the greatest teacher. [35:11] I'm a special ed kid. Got dyslexia. I'm not all that. But I'll tell you what drew her. Was that book. And boy. Just to see her grow. [35:22] And hungry. And ask me questions. And say. Well wait a minute. It says this in Matthew. Remember Matthew is a transitional book. Who's it talking to? And she go. Oh. Okay. That's right. [35:32] I forgot that pastor. And she's just growing and learning. All that. Man. There's a hunger. And you know what happens to us? We get so comfortable. [35:44] We get so laid back. We get so distracted by everything else. That we stop hearing. The voice is so plain. Because we stop submitting ourselves. [35:56] To being hungry. For meat. There's a lot to this passage. And I want you to go back. I didn't go over all these verses here. But if you study that thing out with. [36:07] With Peter. What amazing thing. When Paul comes. Peter's the one that stands up. And says. Hey. He's exactly right. God. I seen God do this. Where he saved these Gentiles. [36:17] And boy. It went on. And God. God did a miracle with that. I want you to go to. Back to us. First Timothy chapter. Four. You with me? [36:30] Say. Amen. There we go. We'll be getting it. All right. Up there. [36:40] That little church. I learned something. I grew up in church all my life. My daddy's church. Been. You know. Thirty. Thirty eight years. He's been there. And boy. I've watched. [36:51] Chris. I go around and preach. I've watched Christians. I've been in church all their life. They've stopped getting hungry. For God's word. And I'm begging you this morning. Get hungry for it. Get hungry for it. [37:04] I sat down with brother Andrew. See other. Breakfast. The other morning. And boy. We got talking. I asked him a question. He got talking the Bible. Boy. I love hearing. God challenged me with some things. [37:15] And to look at. And study. I love that stuff. I want more of God. I want more of his word. I'm not talking about coming up with some new doctrine. I'm not talking about that. [37:27] I'm talking about God just showing up. And letting me see it at a different angle. Because sometimes them verses. They go. You can look at it. This angle. Get something. [37:37] And then another angle. And look at this way. And get something. And then this angle. They come in different forms. As you grow. It's amazing. It's amazing. [37:49] So we got here. He said expressly. And I'm going to have to shut it down. Expressly. And the spirit speaks expressly. But I want you to go down to verse 7. [38:01] Look at verse 7. It says but refuse profane and old wise fables. And exercise thyself. Rather unto what? [38:13] Godliness. Godliness. Exercise. You know what happens when you submit yourselves. And you get home for the word of God. You know what you'll start doing? You'll start exercising unto godliness. [38:24] That's a doctrine. You know that right? Look at 1 Peter chapter 3. Look at verse 16. And without controversy. Great is the mystery of godliness. God was manifested in the flesh. [38:37] Justified of the spirit. Seen of angels. Preached unto the Gentiles. Believed in the world. Received up in glory. Let me ask you this question. When's the last time Jesus Christ manifested himself in your flesh? [38:52] If Jesus. You say. Well I'm not Jesus. No, no. You got Jesus inside of you. And they should see Jesus. They shouldn't see Samson. But it's going to take you exercising unto godliness. [39:05] Which exercise is something I don't like. Right? Physical exercise. But what about spiritual exercise? When you start exercising the word of god. [39:21] Living holy. Let's get the movies out. Let's get the wrong music out. Let's get these things out. Matter of fact. Lord I want my thoughts to change. I'm telling you. [39:34] We taught our kids not to look at nakedness. We'll go to the store. We'll go to the store. The grocery store. I always put out them stupid magazines. My daughters. Daddy don't look. Israel don't. They're turning them around. We'll walk down the mall. [39:45] They'll look to the left. I already know. They're talking about Victoria's Secret. It's a filthy but perverted thing. We're protecting each other. Living unto godliness. [39:57] When's the last time somebody saw Jesus manifested in your flesh? Because you were exercising the doctrine he had taught you because you've submitted. [40:08] And you've heard the spirit expressly. And so now I'm exercising it so people can see God in me. Here's the last thing. [40:18] And we'll have to shut it down. If you're a preacher, here's your points. Expressly exercise and look at verse 12. Let no man despise thy youth, but be thou an example of the believer. [40:33] It says in word and conversation, we've lost our examples. Where's the example this morning for the young people to watch? [40:44] Listen, your family knows you. Your kids know you. Where's the example? [40:57] I've watched people go to my dad's church that had the wrong, they were the wrong example. And I got to close. It was the wrong example. I want to be the right example for the next generation. [41:10] But it's going to take me hearing the spirit plainly, expressly, exercising, being an example. Father, thank you for your work. Thank you for today. [41:20] God, thank you for these folks. God, and I thank you for the word of God and what you've done in our hearts. God, I'm nothing. Well, I'm not saying that I'm something. Every day I got to exercise and every day I got to submit myself to the word of God and applying it. [41:36] That's my whole point. Let's apply the word of God to ourselves, exercise it so we can be the example to the next generation and to the world. And we'll give you all the praise, honor, and glory. In Jesus' name, amen and amen. [41:46] Amen. Yeah, good. Yeah, good.
