[0:00] good desk just a place that I have hopefully you got one of those hopefully you got a place that you go to hopefully got that go-to place and I'll have one of those and it's changed over the years you know sometimes it's in one place sometimes it's in another right now it's been in the same place for a while I'll turn your Bibles to Acts chapter 2 Acts chapter 2 just thinking not really planning to be up here tonight but you spend time in the Word of God I'm reading a book right now that the person talks about inspiration and emotion and he talks about the difference you you get things on outwardly through emotion but inwardly you get things through inspiration and I thought about that and I thought about you know the things I you know I respond to outwardly and then those times where it has nothing to do with the outward at all it's it's completely um just alone with the Lord

[1:26] I want to look at Acts chapter 2 just for a few minutes try to encourage you in um in this right here uh titled it a fresh start a fresh start you know I think I think there's some things that uh we can look at here that the in the book of Acts look at Acts chapter 2 and I want to start in verse 41 it says then they that gladly received his word were baptized and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls and they continued steadfastly in the apostles doctrine and fellowship and in breaking of bread and in prayers and fear came upon every soul and and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles and all that believed were together and had all things common and sold their possessions and goods and parted them to all men as every man had need and they continuing daily with one accord in the temple and breaking bread from house to house did eat their meat with gladness and singleness singleness of heart praising God and having favor with all the people and the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved let's pray father we are glad uh to have thy word and I know I speak uh for myself and I believe for these here that we are glad to be in thy house and appreciate the message on Sunday with uh with the reasons we gather and now Lord it's good it's good to gather again around thy word it's good to gather uh around thy fellowship and gather around thy uh song that we can praise thee by and it's just good thank you so much for that tonight uh stir our hearts to talk about a fresh start and um I believe that's where we're at right now we're at a place to get a fresh start in in thy work bless thy people in Jesus name amen so uh a fresh start you know this is uh this is about as fresh as you get right acts chapter 2 acts chapter 2 you know the apostles they were am I allowed to move yeah yeah no yeah right there no uh can they hear me even if I move I move that's what I do uh but the the the apostles here this is this is as fresh as it gets okay they were told to go to uh Jerusalem and wait right and they're going to wait for something to happen they're waiting for the promise of the father so they go they go to Jerusalem they wait and uh and this is what happens right here in Acts chapter 2 and and I gotta I gotta only imagine that they could not in their wildest dreams imagine what took place in Acts chapter 2 what do you think you think there's no way they could have thought of such a thing so in Acts chapter 2 we have a we have what you would what what I'm going to call a fresh start for the church a fresh start for the church and I believe that's what we need to do we need to uh we need to roll up our sleeves and we need to get ready to have a fresh start in the work of God amen amen I'll amen myself if I have to amen amen amen this is that so in Acts chapter 2 here they they they they they started and this is what happened okay uh for us I'm going to talk just for a few minutes tonight on uh having a fresh start

[4:59] I'm going to look at some of the things that happened but for them for for us we follow the word of God we have it as our final authority right we look at it and we we glean from it and that's what we live our life by for these people here their fresh start is what happened right nobody told them how to do this this is just what happened so we glean from that on on what happened here uh we've come a long way since then uh we have a book with pages huh we have a completed old testament new testament in a book uh with pages we can hold dear and we can read and we can live by uh you know I don't have to say this but you know this we the the the core things that we believe in this church is one of them is is we believe in the final authority of the word of God right it is our final authority for all matters of faith and practice is it not is it not that for you it is for me so in everything in my life I'm I'm not looking for an idea of it right you've heard me talk about the concept there and I'm not going to get into all that right now but but I'm not looking for just an idea I'm looking for what does the word of God say what does the word of God say we're not pioneers in this I was thinking this morning as I was sitting at my at my desk I was thinking about uh the churches that make it through this I was thinking about the churches that are struggling during this time uh not even going through what we did but just in this time the struggles that they're having we're not the only ones we're not alone and and and many many have gone through some of the things we have gone through uh in the last year we're not pioneers but I believe if we if we consider the scripture there's a lot of things we can draw from especially right here and I and I can't even begin to extrapolate everything and to tell you everything it says but we just look at a few things here so I started in verse 41 it says then that they then uh they that gladly received his word they gladly received his word look uh I want to I want to say this a fresh start I want to talk I want to say five things and I want to say five things that I think that we all can agree on you know I started a message a while back probably eight months ago um but I wrote down I wrote down the message some things we can all agree on and I left it blank and just kind of kind of threw it away huh that that ought not to be there ought to be some things we can all agree on you think I know we've been we've gone through some time there where it seemed like huh that would be really hard to do but we at a time of a fresh start and I believe there's some things in this fresh start that we can all agree on first thing is I think we can all agree on the fact that it is all about God can I get a witness huh it is all about God this everything going on everything for us is all about the Lord revelation 411 revelation 411 hopefully you know the verse hopefully you've memorized the verse hopefully it's dear to you huh thou art worthy oh Lord to receive glory and honor and power for thou hast created all things and for thy pleasure they are and were created you believe that hopefully you believe that that has been a theme verse to this church as long as I can remember

[9:00] I mean if pastor if pastor Dave preached on one thing a lot he talked about that a lot we are here your purpose right your purpose is to glorify the Savior your purpose is to please him that's what we're here for that's what we're here for it's all about God I think I think we can all agree on that it is all about God so the start here in in in the book of Acts here it's it's a start a fresh start for them look at look at verse 39 it says for the promise is unto you and to your children and to all that are far off even as many as the Lord our God shall call okay this is all about the Lord calling his people that's what this whole thing is ever since then long before then but for us for the church ever since then it's gone all the way down to where we are today we're still doing the same thing we're still heeding the call of God still heeding the call of God and uh as a fresh start let's let's remember that this is all about God this amazing work of the Lord is all about God something else something else it's uh look at verse 32 the first 32 it says and they continued steadfastly in the apostles doctrine and fellowship and in breaking of bread and in prayers I want I want to I want you to look at and they continued steadfastly in the apostles doctrine the second thing I think we can all agree on is the man of God is an elevated position the man of God you know I understand it and I believe he is just like us but he is in a position of authority for the Lord he is in a position of some authority for the Lord you believe that you believe that I believe in pastoral authority I believe that I believe that God has elevated uh certain men to uh lead the work of God I believe that I believe that for as long as I know in my

[11:24] Christianity the Bible says render honor to whom honors do look here's what I want to say pastor Wolski is not Wolski I want to help you all right I want to help you let me help you your you your attitude toward the man of God is going to is going to decide where you're going to go with the man of God the Bible says to render honor honor to whom honors do uh it says in first Timothy chapter 5 17 it says the elders that rule well are worthy of what do you know double honor we're not talking honor we're talking double honor you think that's elevated I think so not single honor double honor double honor um uh Paul Paul had left Titus in Crete and he told him or ordain elders in every city that's how this thing got started elders were ordained elders raised up they led God's people that's what happened

[12:40] Peter Peter Peter the man talking here in the book of Acts he says he says he says I'm an elder that's what he said he was an elder I think we can all agree on if we all think about it it is an elevated position it is an elevated position and we ought to give honor to that position I believe it'll really help you it'll help you in your spiritual walk it'll help you in in what we're looking at right here in the book of Acts and a fresh start in the work of God look what they say in verse uh it was it was 42 and they continued steadfastly in the apostles doctrine there was something about Peter getting up and talking that made them go wow and they continued steadfastly in the men of God that uh were elevated there and and said something that became doctrine and they continued steadfastly in that what we do look I go to this church because there's things I believe

[13:54] I so believe it that I so believe that there are some unique things about this work that you're not going to find closer if I didn't I'd go find it it isn't about it isn't about um coming to talk to somebody or or what I did or it isn't about any of that it's about what this place believes it's about God and his work that's it about that's it about it's an elevated position it's an elevated position something else is uh the local church is where we assemble look what look what it said here it said they continued steadfastly in the apostles doctrine and fellowship and in breaking of bread where's I'm looking for

[14:56] I'm looking for where they uh oh verse 46 and they continuing daily with one accord in the temple in the temple you know that's what that's what was there the temple was what they had until the jews rejected the trinity god the father god the son the god the holy spirit and god went boom you're done and started the local church buildings pillar and ground of the truth amen but right here right here it was continuing daily in the temple the local church is a pillar and ground of the truth it's where we assemble i think we can all agree on and having a fresh start in the work of god that that this is the pillar and ground of the truth you know you're supposed to behave yourself a certain way in the pillar you know that that's what the verse says i think it's first simity chapter three it says uh that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of god the pillar and ground of the truth there's a way you need there's a way we need to behave ourselves here and i think as we look in the book of acts here in chapter two we can see the fresh start that they had and we can draw some things from that as we as we go on to have our own fresh start quickly moving along here in uh number number four is uh the ministry of the local church i think we can all agree i think we can all agree that there is a there is a ministry of the local church to win the lost i don't think anybody i don't think any of us would disagree that the the reason one of the big reasons we're here is to uh spread the gospel right tell others about christ what what did he say he said i've given you the ministry of reconciliation you doing that you're doing that that's what that's what the ministry is that you have you have the ministry of reconciliation hopefully you're doing that hopefully during the during our daily walk we are trying to uh win the lost reconcile the lost back to god look at ephesians chapter four you know the verse hopefully you know the verse i'm sure you do it's been it's been preached on it's been taught on it's been looked at many times i think brother pastor walski even used it this this last previous sunday but in ephesians chapter four and in verse um uh verse 11 we're talking about the ministry and he gave some apostles and some pastors and some evangelists and some uh pastors and teachers for the perfecting of the saints for the work of the ministry for the edifying of the body of christ there you go i think we can all agree on what the ministry of the church is right perfecting of the saints the edifying of the body of christ the work of the ministry i think we can all agree on that i think we can all agree on that as we as we have a fresh start we can all agree let's let's focus on that and let's uh let's do something with it i said earlier let's roll up our sleeves and get behind the man of god and his vision to move forward the work of the lord in the kingdom of god amen amen preacher all right last thing last thing look at verse 46 again verse 46 in the book of acts chapter 2 and there's a lot to look at in the passage uh just some things that i i i i looked at this morning

[19:00] verse 46 and they continuing daily with what how many times have you heard that preached here taught here they continuing daily with one accord continuing daily with one accord in the temple and breaking bread from house to house did eat their meat with gladness and signal singleness of heart praising god and having favor with all the people that's what we need to do that's what we need to do we need to try to be in one accord we need to uh i think we can all agree on that our testimony in the work of the lord our testimony uh to each other our testimony here should be in one accord it should be in one accord i think we can all agree on that it should be i think maybe there's some times when it ain't or when it isn't right but i think we can all agree on hey look we've got the written word of god is there anybody here that doesn't believe it right so we believe it and this is how it started it started in one accord and it spread like the virus huh one accord that's what we need to have singleness of heart breaking bread from house to house i tried to picture what was going on there they're fellowshipping they're fellowshipping with one another look i just want to encourage you let's have a fresh start let's have a fresh start you know i i don't know if you thought much about it but as pastor comes in here and his family comes in here let's make them really glad they came here that shouldn't be hard to do right maybe when you get a chance take a look at that passage there's a lot going on there gladness one accord fellowship breaking bread continuing steadfastly a lot of good stuff in there a lot of good stuff in there let's pray father thank you for thy word and lord i pray for pastor walski as as this this this transition has come about and we are where we are today and hopefully he'll be here with his family really soon and and and this work will launch off in the right direction once again help us to stay focused on on our mission and especially at this this this time where we can have a fresh start lord please bless the church and draw us closer together the one accord no doubt is is something of you the unity is something uh that you desire bless the church lord those people tonight that we had mentioned that are that are struggling that are suffering that their health is having problems

[23:04]  i pray for their families i pray that you'd be merciful god right now i'll put them be put them on the throne just lay them on the altar lord only you can bless them only you can do something that we can't do i remember reading the passage recently about importunity and you did it because we just every day we're we're bringing the same person and laying them on the altar before thee and begging you've heard me say before lord i i pray you do a mighty work in jesus name amen amen you
