[2:43] of the night, my friends, you'll be in the sky. [2:57] Before me shall the Lord die set if it is so that ye that ever start at my right hand I shall not do it be because of this my heart is glad and joy shall be expressed in my glory and my grace and confidence shall rest because my soul in in the world shall not be left by thee nor will thou give thine holy one for a chance to sing sing thou will me show love my heart of joy joy is that is for life is my right and our pleasures and my more and my heart let's try to gather in prayer let's pray oh lord oh god as we gather in your name we pray that you would bless this gathering and that you would remind us afresh of the privilege of the privilege that we enjoy of being able to meet together and to be found where your word is read and sung and declared we pray that you would bless it to us and remind us of how little must take place before this privilege is taken from us not only might we be deprived of the privilege of attending by reason of of our own ill health some have have experienced that that they are going out and in and in and out as they chose without entrance going about their lawful legitimate business and all of a sudden all these things were cut short and included amongst them was the very [6:57] privilege that they enjoyed of coming to God's house with God's people and we know that too often we we are guilty of of presumption thinking that every day is just going to be the same as the days that have gone and that if it was to change then surely we must have something to say about that and that it will not catch us unaware but that it's not the world in which we live we live not only do we live in a world that teaches us that our own physicality and humanity tells us different but also that we live in a world that is so unpredictable in many respects there is the predictability of it being a sinful world and that it is under your justice pleasure but the consequences of that are hidden from us in many respects so much so that who knows what day or hour may bring to prevent us from meeting as we do as so as occurred so very recently with the appearance and the experience of all of us of pestilence by the name of God and all of a sudden the courts of your house was denied us but it is not simply that we might fall prey to something like that but we see in the world in which we live that there are calamities aplenty not only do we see and hear of natural disasters ailing us places today that are are in wrack and ruin because of the elements floods have closed the doors of God's house homes that were so recently occupied and have been left derelict and that the world over and we see it happen is a frequency that makes us think that that it may well be the voice of the Most High that is bringing us to reflect on where we are at with regard to our relationship with yourself do not allow the fool that dwells in our heart to say otherwise we are also mindful of the terrible events that are in the world where nations are at war and neighbours are in conflict and the weapons of mass destruction are unleashed and we see havoc as a consequence of all of this down and we commit to you all who have suffered as a result we cannot understand how the wickedness in man's heart is not in some way prevented from from producing the awful awful reality of the wickedness that is seen in these actions but you have not only permitted it it may well be the case that you have so ordained it because the word of the Most High God which is your word teaches us that you have ordained whatsoever comes to pass even permitting the wars that are so terrible to behold [11:05] help us to realise that there is no remedy for the wickedness that is in man's heart but one remedy and that is to flee to Christ and to ensure that the peace that he has procured for us by way of the cross may be in our possession and that it may not only speak to us about the need that we have to be reconciled to God by way of the cross but that that reconciliation may work in us producing in us the desire to seek peace with all men and we bless you and thank you that you do encourage us and teach us within your word to submit to the word of God and to be instructed by it to learn the true meaning of of gospel peace and to see it worked out in our life we pray for you we pray for your blessing on all who who preach the word this evening wherever their lot is cast in the world we know that we have found it relatively simple and easy to come together this evening here to this place there has been little to frustrate our passage but we know that there are other shanty they may not have that liberty but we give thanks for all that you have called to proclaim the word and wherever their lot is cast in the world that they may have the liberty to do so and to seek to set Christ before the mind's eye of fallen creatures such as we are that we may challenge men and women young and adult to consider where they stand with regard to the salvation that is offered in the gospel whether it is their possession or not we pray Lord that you would remind us of the need that we have to to petition the most high to bless the word that is preached that it may secure that which you have purposed for it as indeed you have promised so to do that it may yield fruit in our own lives here in this place how often we have been free to come and to hear the word and be challenged by it and yet the truth through of so many that still they are not saved and salvation is only possible by means of Christ and we pray that you would open our eyes to behold him and all the beauty that is his remember those who are in need this evening we pray for those who are grieving and sorrowful we pray for those amongst their own people here who have sore hearts and who are grieving the loss of loved ones and we remember them to you and pray that you would be the one who would assuage their grief and pour the oil and the balm of your own love into their open wounds that they may find healing we pray Lord for those who have to deal with with illness and sickness of varying degrees that they may seek recovery at your hand and you are able to do so far more than any human physician but you are a physician of souls above all else and we pray Lord that in the midst of all our needs that we recognize the need that we have to bring our cares and concerns that are spiritual to your attention that they may be remedied we remember those who have experienced the voice of death today [15:07] and we commit and commend them to you who look upon places that were full of those that they knew and now who are no longer found you teach us in your word that the moment of death is a moment when we are ushered into the presence of God and those who have lived their life excluding that God will find that he will fill that moment in a way that you did not fill it for them prior to that and the vast eternity that is before us will be occupied by that God to deal with those who are your enemies as those who are your friends and the moment of death is not the moment by which that can be altered we pray Lord for wisdom to make our calling and election to you that we may know to look after our soul and to put it in the safe keeping of Christ so bless us together this evening bless all that has been done hither to this day in all the places where Jesus Christ has been lifted up may we look to him to be our portion again this evening forgive our transgressions and pardon our sins in Jesus name we ask it all amen we are going to sing now to God's praise from Psalm 63 [16:50] Psalm 63 the first six stanzas verses 1 through to 8 Lord thee my God I nearly seek my soul the thirst for thee my flesh longs in a dry parched land wherein no waters be that I thy power may behold and brightness of thy face as I have seen thee heretofore within thy holy place since better is thy love than life my lips thee praise shall give I in thy name will lift my hands and bless thee while I live even as with marrow and with fat my soul shall filled be then shall my mouth with joyful lips sing praises unto thee when I do thee upon my bed remember with delight and when on thee I meditate in watches of the night in shadow of thy wings I'll joy for thou mine help hast been my soul thee follows hard and me thy right hand doth sustain and so on these verses of Psalm 63 from the beginning [18:05] Lord thee my God I nearly seek Lord thee my God I ever seek Lord thee my God I ever seek my soul the thirst for thee my soul the thirst for thee my great songs in that life my heart's child will in the waters of thee that I thy power may be whole and the brightness of thy grace as I am with thee to God with thy holy grace holy grace since there is thy love and life my lips be great shall give [19:35] I end thy day I end thy day will lift my heart and bless me while I live in heaven even as with my oh and with God my soul shall fill it be and shall my mouth with your full lips say that praise sing that praise the song to thee when I give thee upon my day when I give thee upon my day remember with the night [20:44] And when on Thee I met Thee dead In the watches of the night In shadow of Thy ways I'll joy For Thine my help has seen My soul, the volus hargain Thy right and just as Him We're going to hear God's word as we find it in the Old Testament Scriptures in the book of the prophet Isaiah and reading the 25th chapter [21:50] Isaiah chapter 25 We'll read the whole chapter O Lord, Thou art my God I will exalt Thee I will praise Thy name For Thou hast done wonderful things Thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth For Thou hast made of a city an heap Of a defence city a rule A palace of strangers To be no city It shall never be built Therefore shall the strong people glorify Thee The city of the terrible nations shall fear Thee For Thou hast been a strength to the poor A strength to the needy in his distress [22:54] A refuge from the storm A shadow from the heat When the blast of the terrible ones Is as a storm against the wall Thou shalt bring down the nines of strangers As the heat in a dry place Even the heat with the shadow of a cloud The branch of the terrible ones Shall be brought low And in this mountain Shall the Lord of hosts Make unto all people A feast of far things A feast of wines on the lees Of far things full of marrow Of wines on the lees well refined And he will destroy in this mountain And the face of the covering Cast over all the people And the veil that is spread Over all nations He will swallow up death in victory [23:54] And the Lord God will wipe away tears From off all faces And the rebuke of his people Shall he take away from off all the earth For the Lord hath spoken it And it shall be said in that day Lo, this is our God We have waited for him And he will save us This is the Lord We have waited for him We will be glad And rejoice in his salvation For in this mountain Shall the hand of the Lord rest And Moab shall be Throdden down under him Even as straw is trodden down For the downhill And he shall spread forth his hands In the midst of them As he that swimmeth Spreadeth forth his hands to swim And he shall bring down their pride Together with the spoils of their hands And the fortress of the high fort [24:57] Of thy walls Shall he bring down Lay low And bring to the ground Even to the dust And so on May the Lord add his blessing To this reading of this word To his name be the praise Let us sing now the 23rd Psalm Psalm 23 We are going to sing the whole Psalm Lord's my shepherd I'll not want He makes me down To lie In pastures green He leadeth me The quiet waters by My soul he doth Restore again And me to walk Doth make Within the paths Of righteousness Even for His own name's sake Yea though I walk In death's dark veil Yet will I fear none For thou art with me And I rot And staff me comfort still [25:58] My table thou hast furnished In presence of my foes My head thou dost With oil anoint And my cup overflows Goodness and mercy All my life Shall surely follow me And in God's house Forevermore My dwelling place Shall be Psalm 23 The whole Psalm To the praise of God The Lord's my shepherd I'll not want The Lord's my shepherd I'll not want He makes me down To lie And pastures And pastures Gently leadeth me [27:01] The quiet waters My soul My soul He does Restore again And me to walk Doth make Within the paths Of righteousness In fullness I'm Bel Close [28:06] I hear none new For thou art with me And I wrought And staff me Come, the Lord is still My table, thou art firm It is impressions of my voice My head, thou trust with all the joy And my cup, O earth, flows [29:12] Goodness and mercy All my life Shall surely follow me And in God's hands forevermore I dwell in your pleasure Shall be I'd like us to turn now to the chapter that we read In the Old Testament Scriptures The book of the prophet Isaiah, chapter 25 And we can read again verse 6 [30:14] And in this mountain shall the Lord of hosts Make unto all people a feast of fat things A feast of wines on the lees Of fat things full of marrow Of wines on the lees Well refined And he will destroy in this mountain The face of the covering Cast over all people And the veil that is spread over all nations And so on One would suggest that it is a great privilege To have the role of ambassador When you are asked by the monarch To serve And to represent that monarch [31:17] Wherever they appoint such service to take place I think most ambassadors I think most ambassadors feel Themselves to be privileged Because they represent The king or queen of their country And their task is to promote the king And represent the views of the king Or whoever the monarch is And if they consider it a privilege Surely It is even more of a privilege If your Role as ambassador is to represent The king of kings The one who is lord of all The apostle Paul May explain to us That that is The role that is given to the lord's people [32:20] That there is a very specific And a very real way In which god's people Are ambassadors for christ And Some may think that This is really a A task that is assigned To Apostles Perhaps Or Preachers of the gospel And there is a sense in which You would be right in Arguing that But there is also a sense in which Any person who has come to Saving knowledge of the lord jesus christ That they are required To share with others The knowledge That they now possess They have had a face to face encounter With the person Of the lord jesus christ [33:20] And through him They have experienced Reconciliation With god And as they have experienced Reconciliation with god They know The awesome wonder Of That peace That is now there Which they did not enjoy Prior to that And We might think that That is something that Is The The domain of the new testament But Significantly It isn't It is Also Clear From the old testament That This was a role That was given To the lord's people That they shared That knowledge That they had With Others About The The Privileges [34:21] That Belong to god's people But in particular The prophets And the prophets As they Look to the future And look to The experiences Held out to them By god Which were To be their Experiences In god's Appointed Time And that's the most Wonderful thing About it How the old testament Prophets were able To To speak So Knowingly And so Confidently About The provision That god Had promised To make But They were waiting To see Fulfilled We may ask Questions About How much Knowledge Did they have How much Of the The [35:22] Word of god Given to them To declare Did they Understand But you will Remember that As ambassadors It was not Their role To question The task That was Given To them They might Not have Fully Understood What god Wanted them To share With others And Clearly There are Certain Certain Passages Of scripture That Even Now When we Read them When we Read them And know That they Promises That they Are prophecies We want Them to be Understood Whether They are Fulfilled Prophecies Or prophecies That are Yet to be Fulfilled We want Clarity Of mind To understand What god Is actually Saying through Them So you Can admire The prophet Who went Out with This message And shared [36:23] It with Others Declared It to Others Even when They did Not themselves Fully Fully Understand The significance Of what they Had to say Now bear in Mind these Words Of prophecy Are contained Within The book Of the Prophet Isaiah Spoken Many many Years Before They were To be Realised In fact Some people Think that They are yet To be Realised In truth They think That these Words are Only to be Understood In The fullness Of time When The coming Of Christ For the Second Time Comes As a Bird But I would With many Others Disagree With that Assessment The fact Of the Matter Is That At the Heart Of what The prophet Is saying Here Is the Truth Concerning God's [37:23] Provision For a Fallen World Of a Saviour Of Sinners It is In actual Fact The Declaration Of the Gospel Thinly Veiled It may Be But Clearly The Gospel What God Was going To do Through The Passion Of Jesus Christ That Would Ensure That Sinners Could Be Saved And The Message Was a Message That Was Often Declared By Prophets Without The Certainty That We Can Have Having Seen How God Has Done That But If You Want Clarity On This Just Think About The Words Of The Apostle Peter He Talks About Christ Christ That he Knows Well Christ That he Knows As far As His Work Of Redemption Is Concerned [38:24] But He Links In What He Knows About Christ To What Was Known By The Prophets He Says For As Much As You Know That You Were Not Redeemed With Corruptible Things As Silver And Gold From Your Vain Conversations Received By Tradition From Your Fathers But With The Precious Blood Through The Spirit And To In Love Of The Brethren See That You Love One Another Fervently See [39:24] That You Love One Another With A Pure Heart Fervently Being Born Again Not Of Corruptible Seed But Of Incorruptible By The Word Of God Which Liveth And Abideth Forever And So On There's A Word That Is Emphasized There A Word That God Gave To His Servants The Prophets They Proclaimed It As His Ambassadors They Appointed Men And Women Of Their Own Generation To The Passion Of The Lord Jesus Christ Yet To Be Born But Promised Before The World Was Not Only That They Were In Such A Way Convinced Of Their Own Position As God's Chosen People The People Of God Were Contained Within The Jewish Nation And Yet The Promise Embraced [40:25] Others Outside Of That Nation The Promise Was So Expansive That Others Throughout The World Were To Be Beneficiaries Of The Gospel And The Blessings That The Gospel Brought And That Is Contained Within This Passage That We Have Here A Word That Speaks About The Awesome Power Of The Gospel Of Jesus Christ As It Is Proclaimed By Virtue Of The Fact That It Is A Gospel Of Good News Contained Within The Passion Of Jesus Christ And The Work That He Has Accomplished The Chapter Begins With A Song Of Praise But It Quickly Moves Its Focus To The Blessings Of Salvation A Salvation That Will Not Be The Unique Possession Of [41:26] The Jews Alone But Also To The Gentile Nations But I Want Us To Think Of The Words Of The Passage That We Read Last Year In This Mountain Shall The Lord Of Hose Make Unto All People A Feast Of Fat Things A Feast Of Wines On The Leaves Of Things Full Of Marrow Of Wines On The Leaves Well Refined Three Things That I Want To Think About Very Briefly First Of All What Is This Mountain That The Prophet Is Directing Us To The Second Thing Is What We Are Told Is To Be Found On This Mountain We Have Mercy He Says The Third Thing The Awesome [42:26] Nature Of This Mercy That It Is Not Curtailed As We Said It Is Not Restricted It Is Something That Is Promised As Being Able To Touch The Lives Of Jew And Gentiles The World Over What Is Then This Mountain And There Are Times In The Scripture As We Have Seen In The Past Where Various Mountains Are Spoken Of Within The Scripture They Have A Specific Place In The History Of God's People There Are Mountains That Bear His Name There Are Mountains Where He Performed Awesome Acts Where He Revealed His Glory Where He Met With His People Where He Received Sacrifices From Their Hands And Their Names Are [43:26] Throughout The Scripture But While We Can Understand That Mount Zion For Example Is The Mount Where God Himself Is To Reveal His Glory The Mount Which Speaks Of Jerusalem The Holy City That Speaks Of The Place That God Is Pre-eminently Concerned With As A Place That Is Bound In With His Affections As The God Who Has Loved And Demonstrated His Love For Our People In That Place The Emphasis That We Find In These Words Is An Emphasis On The Glory Of [44:27] God As It Is Found In The Revelation Of His Purposes In The Gospel Of His Grace Remember He's Looking Forward The Prophet Has Been Given This Message He Is God's Ambassador He Declares This Word This Word To All Who Hear It And As The Prophets Of Old Often Found The Message That They Declared Was Not Often Well Received It Was Not Often Recognized As A Favorable Word It Was Not Often A Message That People Were At Ease With And In Many Respects Nothing Could Be Less Disconcerting To The People Of God Of That Generation Than Knowing That God Had Interest Beyond The Boundaries Of The Jewish Nation And Those [45:27] Who Were So Content With God Speaking To The People Through The Old Testament Ceremonial Law And So Restricted Although They Didn't Consider It A Restriction By The Types And The Imagery Of The Old Testament Form Of Worship The Sacrifices The Festivals The Means Of Grace That God Ordained By Which He Ministered To The People Don't Get Me Wrong This This Was God's Way Of Bringing Spiritual Fear To The Hearts And Minds Of His Own People But God Through The Prophet Was Telling Them That The Day Would Come When These Things Would Come To An End And Better Fear Lay In Store [46:28] And The Mountain Of Which The Prophet Speaks Here Is The Mountain Where On The Gospel Banquet Is Going To Be Set Before Them A Banquet That Is In The Description That Is Given To Us A Banquet That Contains The The Soul Gladdening Effect Such Such A Banquet Would Bring A Feast Full Of The Best Of Fear And They Will Not Misunderstand What he Has To Say In The Sense That That When The Prophet Is Saying This Is What God Is Going To Provide For You And The Gospel That [47:28] Is Provided Or The Banquet That Is Provided Will Have The Best Of All Things On It They Understand The Typology They Understand The Imagery But They Need To Understand That It Goes Beyond What They Have Previously Encountered Even In The Grace Of God As They Experienced It In The Old Testament Dispensation It Goes Beyond Their Expectation Because It Meets Their Greatest Need You Put It Like This And I Suppose This Is The Best Way Of Putting It They Were Directed Prior To This To Look Forward In Anticipation To The Coming Of [48:28] The Passion Of The Messiah And Whatever They Understood By That Personage And What He Was Going To Accomplish For Them They Were Incapacitated By The Limits That Their Own Intellect Placed Upon Their Understanding Of What God Was Going To Supply Them With Their Sins Were Sins That They Had To Deal With By Way Of Sacrifice Daily Their Sins Were Things That They Thought That They Could Deal With In The Way That They Applied Themselves To God's Law And Because Of Their Inability To Fulfill The Law Their Requirements Were The Requirement That Was On Them Was Always There But Here Because Of The Nature Of The Banquet That God Has Prepared [49:29] The Provision Will Meet The Greatest Need That They Have Finally Once And For All And It Is In Need Of A Perishing Fallen Race Met By One Passion And That Passion Is The Passion Of The Lord Jesus Christ What He Is Directing Them To And What He Is Directing Us To Is A Banquet For A Hungry And A Perishing Soul And The Passion Who Participates Or Partakes Of The Provision That Is Set On The Banquet Banqueting Table Is Somebody Who Will Never Hunger In The Same Way Again Such Is The Nature Of The Fair That Is On The Table It Is I [50:29] Think Inevitably The Case That By Nature We Are Always Seeking Satisfaction Outside Of What God Provides We Are Never Content With God's Provision For Us Naturally This Is Our Inclination To Do Something For Ourselves That We Think Might Satisfy But Our Endeavors Will Always Prove False But Here What Is Said Through The Prophet Is That Everything Prior To This Everything Outside Of This Are Just Like The Husks That The Prodigal Had To Partake Of When He Was Away From His Father's House They Will Not Satisfy And They Will Not Meet The Need That Is There And This Is What The Mountain [51:29] Is All About In This Mountain Shall The Lord Of Hosts Make Unto All People A Feast And The Feast I Suppose The Description Of It Is Limited As To Detail But At The Same Time It Is Sufficiently Detailed To Give You And Understanding That Nothing That Is On This Table Will Be Turned Down By You It Is The Best Of Fear It Is The Most Satisfying Of Provision That God Has Made What Lies Behind The Provision Well The Answer To That Question Is That It Is Clearly Understood That What Is On The Table Has [52:30] Been Put On The Table By The Lord Himself Nothing That Is Provided On The Banqueting Table Of The Gospel Is Anything Other Than The Best Because The God Who Is The Almighty God Is The One Who Has Provided It Sometimes We We Would Attend Functions And On The Function We Might See Provision Put On The Table And We Turn Our Nose Up At It And We Do Something Before It Or Something Instead Of It But Because Of This Provision And The One Who Has Provided It And The Reason For It Nothing That He Has Set Before Us In The Banqueting Table Of The Gospel [53:30] Is Anything Other Than Necessary To Our Need And It Is Entirely Of His Provision He Has Made It It Is Nothing You Know Sometimes We We May Be In In An Event And You Will Be Asked Take Something Yourself Bring A Cake Or Bring Something So That Everybody Will Have A Share In What Is Provided Well The Provision Is Here Entirely Made By God For The Good Of God's People And Everything On It Is By Virtue Of His Own Mercy [54:50] Makes Makes Them Free So Different In That Respect You Know That Everything That Is On The Gospel Table Is Provided For God's People By God For His People So Nothing That He Provides As Far As The Gospel Is Concerned Is Anything Other Than Necessary Anything It Isn't Too Much And It Isn't Lacking In Any Sense Of The Word When You Read On In The Prophecy Of Isaiah And Get To The Memorable Words Of Chapter 55 Nothing Could Be Further From The Truth Than That There Is Dissatisfaction On The Part Of The Recipients Or The Beneficial All Who [55:51] Partake Of The Gospel Fair Are Satisfied If You Remember We Spoke About The Prophet Declaring By Virtue Of God's Appointment The Doctrine Of Reconciliation That We Could Have Peace With God Through The Lord Jesus Christ That Is The Central Core Of The Gospel Message That Peace With God Is Secured Only By Way Of Jesus Christ And When We Think Of Gospel Blessings Can We Think Of Any One Of These Blessings Remote From From From The Person Of The Lord Jesus Christ You Cannot You Cannot Even Begin To Imagine Something That You Can Put Along Side All That The Gospel Presents To You Who Are Sitting Under The Gospel Who Are Told This Is God's Provision [56:51] For You You Are A Sinner In Need Of Saving And God Is The Provider Of That Salvation And He Does So In The Person Of Jesus Christ And Nothing That You Can Provide Yourself Or Put Alongside What God Has Provided Equates To It If Anything We Are Told It Takes Away From It In One Of Don McLeod Last Books Principal McLeod Last Books He Talks About The Preacher Of The Gospel And The Gospel That The Preacher Declares And In That Book The Emphasis I Think Returns Again And Again To The Need That There Is In Evangelism To Focus On The Passion Of The Lord Jesus Christ Because [57:53] The Danger Is That When We Try And Explain The Need For Salvation We Are Intent On Doctrinally Expounding That Need Or When We Try And Explain The Relationship Of Salvation To Faith We Try And Expound Faith And How It Works And Where It Works And So On And He Says That Is Always A Danger Because It Distracts Us From The Passion In Which Our Faith Rests Upon Which That Faith Rests What Is On The Gospel Table If You Like There Is Nothing On The Banqueting Table Of God The Mountain Of The Lord Which Is The Banqueting Table Of The Gospel There Is Nothing On It But [58:53] All That Applies To The Passion Of Jesus Christ Think Of The Passion Of Jesus Christ Where Would You Begin To Talk You Go And Talk About His Beginning He Doesn't Have A Beginning You Talk About The Knowledge That This World Took Of In His Incarnation You Talk About All The Various Aspects Of His Passion As It Is Revealed To You In The Gospel What He Did The Miracles He Performed The Relationships That He Entered Into The Love That He Showed The Pain That He Endured In The Treatment That He Received From Friends As Well As Enemies The Cross That He Bore Everything There Directing Us To Where To The Passion Of The Lord Jesus Christ [59:54] His Death That Atones His Resurrection That Promises Life His Ascension That Assures Us Of The Ongoing Intercession At God's Right Hand And The Promises That Are Ever Present That Point To His Coming Again To Judge The World To Take His People To Be His Own The Gospel Provides Nothing Less Than The Passion Of Jesus Christ To You And The Passion Of Jesus Christ For You Is The Gospel That You Need To Believe Because You Are A Sinner As I Am A Sinner And Our Salvation From That Sin Can Only Be Found In The Passion Of Jesus Christ You Know Sometimes We Get It So Wrong When We Try And Impress People [60:55] Through The Preaching Of The Word And We Dwell On Issues And Facts That Are Coincidental And Not Coincidental But They Are Almost Words That Should Be Heard But Should Never Be Central To The Message Of The Gospel I Remember Speaking About G.B. [61:22] Duncan Before And He Describes The Nature Of A Relationship That That Existed Between Two Young People And It Was Their First Experience Of Of A Relationship But It Wasn't Something That Had Grown Or Developed Into Mature Love Because Their Interest In One Another Was Really In What One Had To Offer The Other Or As He Put It Because The Boy Had The Ability To Buy Chocolates For The Girl For The Girl For The Gifts Rather Than The Giver The Gospel Doesn't Allow Us To Think Of What Christ Has To Offer Purely Because He Has Something To Offer And He Does But More Than Anything The Gospel Presents To Us A Passion The [62:23] Passion Of The Lord Jesus Christ The One Through Him Forgiveness Of Sins Is Possible The One Who Is The Means By Which God Ministers To Our Shell Shocked Souls Because Of Sin And The One Who Is Instrumental By His Spirit In Bringing The Blessings Of God Our Way God's Mercies The Psalmist Speaks Of Them As Meeting Us Every Day And Preeminently They Are To Be Found In The Passion Of Jesus Christ And Out Of The Vast Resources That God Has At His Disposure He Could Provide The Feast But He Was No And There Is No Obligation To Do So But Out Of His Goodness Out Of His Grace Out Of His Mercy He Does So You [63:26] Know Some People Talk About God As If He Is Obliged He Is Obligated To Show Mercy If It Was Obligation It Wouldn't Be Mercy Mercy And If You Deserve What God Provides It Wouldn't Be Mercy What God Provides And Supplies Through The Gospel Is Mercy As It Is In Christ Jesus The Third Thing We Have Here Which Cannot Be Overlooked And That Is It Describes To The Multitude Who Are Beneficiaries Of The Gospel To All People It Speaks Of The Extent Of The Gospel Invitation I Can't Exclude Any One Of You Whatever You Have Done Whatever You Are Doing [64:26] I Have No Right To Insist That The Gospel Is Not Yours Because The Gospel Is For Everyone The Blessings Of The Gospel Are Only For Those Who Believe In The Lord Jesus Christ And Who Trust In The Lord Jesus Christ That's Not Saying The Same Thing The Gospel Message Has To Be Heard By All But In Order To Receive The Blessing It Must Be Believed It Must Be Accepted As God's Provision For Jew And Gentile Rich And Poor However Extreme We Have Gone In Our Lives Off The Beaten Track It Is Something That Meets Our Need And All We Are Obligated To Do Is Accept It Receive The Grace [65:27] That God Supplies In It I Think It Was Lachlan Mackenzie Who Said Sin Is Universal Which Is True Is It Not All Have Sinned And Come Short Of The Glory Of God But The Gospel Is Equally Universal In The In The Invitation To Believe Must Be Given To All And We Cannot And We Dare Not Overlook The Generosity Of The Gospel Invitation Just Because All Do Not Accept It God Tells Us That He Is God And There Is No Other There Is None Else And When When This Word Came To Us By Way Of The Prophet It [66:30] May Well Have Offended Many It May Well Have Offended Many Because Even In The Lord's Day When He Spoke Of The Gospel That Was His Gospel Some People Didn't Believe It Wasn't For The Samaritans It Wasn't For The Gentiles But The Salvation That Is Contained Is For All Regardless Of Who You Read The Apostle Paul's Understanding Of How The Gospel Works You Know That Wonderful Chapter Where He's Talking About The Resurrection Of Jesus Christ And The Way The Resurrection Is Something That Every Believer Has To Has To Understand Means Something For Them You Know In First Corinthians Chapter [67:31] Fifteen He Says For This Corruptible Must Put On In Corruption And This Mortal Must Put On Immortality So When This Corruptible Shall Have Put On In Corruption And This Mortal Shall Have Put On Immortality Then Shall Be Brought To Pass The Saying That Is Written Death Is Swallowed Up In Victory O Death Where Is Thy Sting O Grave Where Is Thy Victory Where Do Where Do Where Do Do Come From Well They Come From Later On In This Very Chapter The Implications Of The Gospel Table The Banquet Is That It Is For All And Those Who Participated And Those Who Partake Of It They Are Assured That The Benefits That That The Gospel Brings Will Be There Look At John's Account In The Revelation He [68:31] Talks There About What Lies Before In Eternity In The Presence Of God He's Looking There Before The Throne As It Were Looking At The Vast Hordes The Vast Array Of Peoples Remember They Are Peoples Meaning Different Different Classes Different Bodies Of People From The World Over Who Are They He Is Asked These Are They That Come Out Of Great Tribulation And Have Washed Their Robes And Made Them White In The Blood Of The Lamb Therefore Are They Before The Throne Of God And Serve Him Day And Night In His Temple And So On They Have Washed The Robes And Made Them White In The Blood Of The Lamb In Other Words These Are The People Who Who Doesn't [69:31] Say That They Were Gentiles Or Jews Or Whatever Says That They Have Come To The Lord And Believed In The Lord And Trusted In The Lord And Been Cleansed By The Lord Their Sins Have Been Removed The Stain Of Their Sin Has Been Obliterated And God Has Taken Them Out Of Their Sin Ridden Environment Because Of That God's Provision Of A Gospel God's Provision Of The Gospel Anything And Everything Your Soul Craves Is Provided By You Don't Need To Look Elsewhere The Person Of The Lord Jesus Christ Is The One To Whom You Look I Am His Ambassador The People Of God Who Have Experienced [70:32] His Grace Are His Ambassadors They Can Testify To His Grace They Can Testify To The Fear That They Have Participated In Partaken Of That Has Left Them With An Ongoing Hunger We We Always Used To Hear That As Christians And It Was Always True No Matter How Often You Met With God's People And You Enjoyed Their Company And The Fellowship That They Provided And The Gospel Message That You Drank In And That Filled You Leaving You Content Leaving You With The Satisfaction Of Soul That You Couldn't Get Anywhere Else What Happened Well However [71:32] Fooled You Were You Always Wanted More Of The Same However Filled You Felt By That Gospel You Knew That Only That Gospel Would Fill You Again You Didn't Forsake And Go Elsewhere You Didn't Want To Go And Try Something Different You Didn't Think That There Was Better At Some Other Venue You Knew That What Christ Had Set Before You Even Himself That That Is What Satisfied Always Remember That If You Are Believer That Is What God Has Set Before You In His Word A Gospel That Satisfied A Gospel That Polices A Gospel That Restores A Gospel That Encourages A Gospel That Ensures Peace By Way Of Christ And [72:32] There Is None Other There Is No Other Way By Which Salvation Is Possible But By Believing This Word Of Which The Prophet Speaks Let Let Us Pray Oh Lord Oh God We Marvel At The Way Which You Serve And Of All Given This Word Of Instruction That So Many Would Be Offended At That There Was A Mountain And That Mountain Was None Other Than Of You Providing It Speaks Of The Gospel Provision That Satisfies The Fallen Race Of Adam Where Satisfaction Is No Longer Possible Things That Are In This World And This World Holds Out To Us As Being The Means By Which We Will Be Made Fat That We Will Be Filled With Enjoyment And These Pleasures Are Fleeting And They Never [73:32] Never Last However The Things That The Gospel Has Brought Into Our Experience Are Things That We Would Want Again And Again And We Pray That All Of Us Would Stretch Out Our Hands To Avail Ourselves Of This Provision That You And Your Mercy Have Made Forgive Us Our Transgressions In Jesus Name Amen We We Going To Conclude Our Service Singing From Psalm 45 Psalm 45 The Second Version Of The Psalm Verse 13 Psalm 45 The Daughter Of The King All Glorious Is Within
