Confidence in God’s life giving word 1 Kings 17v1-24\r\n\r\n Confidence?\r\n\r\n God rules all things by the Power of his word\r\n\r\n- Famine\r\n- Famine of God’s word\r\n\r\n‘The days are coming,’ declares the Sovereign Lord, ‘when I will send a famine through the land - not a famine of food or a thirst for water, but a famine of hearing the words of the Lord.\r\nPeople will stagger from sea to sea and wander from north to east, searching for the word of the Lord, but they will not find it.’ Amos 8v11-12\r\n\r\n God preserves his servants by the Command of his word\r\n\r\n- God’s provision\r\n- God’s plan\r\n\r\n God reaches the lost by the Grace of his word\r\n\r\n- Grace offered\r\n\r\n‘…no prophet is accepted in his hometown. Failed People, Faithful Word\r\n- A secure place to be! 1 Kings 2v1-46\r\n\r\nGod’s means of establishing a secure Kingdom\r\n- A King who obeys God’s word\r\n\r\n‘When the King takes the throne of his Kingdom, he is to write for himself a scroll of this law…It is to be with him, and he is to read it all the days of his life so that he may revere the Lord his God and follow carefully all the words of this law and these decrees and not consider himself better and turn from the law to the right or to the left.’ Deuteronomy 18-20\r\n\r\n- A King who acts justly\r\n\r\nGod’s response to enemies of his Kingdom\r\n\r\n- Rebels will not be tolerated\r\n- Promised justice will be done\r\n- Religion will not save you\r\n\r\n‘…so it will be at the end of the age.
