[0:00] Psalm 34 I will bless the Lord. [0:15] And again, I will bless the Lord.! Amen. Please be seated.! I want to talk about blessing the Lord. Blessing the Lord. Who's blessed this morning? Who's blessed? [0:27] I watched this sermon and there was something about a fellow who came into a room and he asked the lady, how are you? And she said, blessed, blessed, blessed, blessed. [0:41] I'm blessed. I'm blessed. You're blessed. And we want to bless the Lord. That's what we're here for today. To think of blessing the Lord. Blessing His name. Psalm 34. [0:53] We're just going to talk through this psalm together. I'm going to go through a couple of the psalms this morning. Bless the Lord. Psalm 34, verse 1 I will bless the Lord at all times. [1:10] His praise shall continually be in my mouth. There's a Jewish tradition that urges people personally to bless the Lord no less than 100 times every day. [1:23] They make it a tradition. That's a good tradition, isn't it? So bless the Lord 100 times every day. The word bless is from Barak. It literally means to kneel. To kneel. [1:34] And a Baraka is a blessing. Literally the bringing of a gift to another on bended knee. When we bless the Lord. We're bringing Him our gift of praise on bended knee. [1:47] Bless the Lord at all times. In Psalm 145 it says, from verse 2. Every day will I bless thee. [1:58] And I will praise thy name forever and ever. Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised. And His greatness is unsearchable. [2:11] Psalm 145 is saying, praise Him now and praise Him forever. Praise is now and it's forever. As you homework, please read Psalm 145. [2:24] Psalm 145. We don't have time to cover it today. Psalm 145. Write that down and make that something to do at home. It's a song of beautiful praise unto our great and almighty God. [2:38] Back to Psalm 34, verse 2. My soul shall make her boast in the Lord. The humble shall hear thereof and be glad. [2:49] When we bless the Lord at all times, there's one thing for sure that we can brag about, that we can boast about, about our awesome God. [3:01] Our awesome God. We want our boast to be in Him. And when we do, there's gladness and there's joy. There's rejoicing. Who's got gladness this morning? [3:13] I saw another sermon and the preacher said, if you're glad, notify your face. Notify your face. If you're glad this morning, put a smile on your dial for the Lord today. [3:26] There's joy. There's rejoicing. There's gladness in Him. Jeremiah 9.23 talks about this boasting that we can do. It's a good kind of boasting that we can have. [3:37] Jeremiah 9, from verse 23 to 24, it says, Thus saith the Lord, let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches, but let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the Lord, which exercise loving kindness, judgment and righteousness in the earth. [4:13] For these things I delight, saith the Lord. Glory, glory in this. Glory because you know and understand the Lord. Bless the Lord. [4:26] Boast in the Lord. God loves it when you do. He loves to hear you bless Him. He loves to hear you bless Him. And you are blessed. I know our preacher before talked about being lucky. [4:39] And they call Australia the lucky country. And we wish people good luck. But more than being lucky, you are blessed. You are blessed. It's not some luck of the world, but it's the blessing, the blessing of God. [4:52] And if you are blessed, why don't you bless Him? Bless Him. David did. David goes on, prompting others to praise. He's in verse 3 of Psalm 34. [5:04] Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together. When we bless the Lord at all times, we want to magnify Him, to exaggerate Him, to amplify, to put our focus and our emphasis upon Him, to magnify Him. [5:24] In other words, to make Him great. And we want to get together to do this. It's a good thing to get together with people who want to bless the Lord. It's good for your soul to be where others want to be, blessing the Lord together. [5:40] So much so that wild horses can't drag you away from wanting to be where there's others, to exalt His name together. Together. There's a beautiful thing when it's a blessing, the Lord together. [5:54] An exalting of Him, and a lifting of Him together. To get together with the people who love Him, who want to bless His name, and lift it up. [6:04] And David found some reasons to bless the Lord. Verse 4, he says, I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and He delivered me, from all my fears. [6:16] When we bless the Lord, at all times, we will want to seek after Him. He will hear us, He promises to, and He says He will deliver us, from all our fears. [6:28] Now, we've all got fears, of one kind or another. But the Lord, if a blessing, will deliver us, from all our fears. So, seek the Lord, bless the Lord. [6:42] Verse 5, it says, They looked unto Him, and were lightened, and their faces were not ashamed. When we bless the Lord, at all times, we're going to take a different look, at life, we're going to see things, through a different lens, in a different way, through a different perspective, because we're going to look, unto Him. [7:01] We're going to look, unto Jesus. Yeshua, salvation, our Saviour, the Lord Jesus. We're going to look, unto Him. We're going to take, a different look. And we, when we don't understand, we're still going to take a look, at our Saviour, our Master. [7:17] When we don't understand, what's going on, we're going to look, unto Him. And the Word says, your faces, are going to be lightened up. He's going to lighten us up. Lighten up. Verse 6, it says, this poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him, out of all his troubles. [7:35] If we bless the Lord, at all times, when we cry unto Him, we're not going to dwell, on our woes, and our troubles. He's going to hear, as we bless Him, He's going to save, He's going to rescue. [7:50] Verse 7, the angel of the Lord, encampeth, round about them, that fear Him, and delivereth them. The angel of the Lord. [8:01] When we bless the Lord, at all times, the Bible says, that He's going to send an angel, to come and overshadow, He's going to come, and be that, 24 by 7, surveillance, that protection, that shield, our stronghold, the angel of the Lord, He's going to encamp, around you brother, He's going to encamp, around you sister, and He's going to deliver you, our Saviour. [8:28] Bless the Lord, at all times. Verse 8, oh taste, and see, that the Lord, is good. Blessed, is the man, that trusted, in Him. [8:40] When we bless, the Lord, at all times, we'll see, the goodness of God. We'll develop a taste, a different taste, a different appetite, for something beyond, what this world's, satisfaction, so called, can bring. [8:56] The satisfaction, that is only found, in something supernatural, someone supernatural, when our desire, is after Him, for things above. [9:07] This old world, isn't going to satisfy, us any longer. Our humbling, and our thirsting, is going to be, for things above. For His praise, for His righteousness. [9:18] Oh taste, and see, that the Lord, is good. You are indeed, a blessed man, a blessed woman, today, so bless, the Lord. [9:30] You sought Him, and He heard you. He has delivered you, from all your fears. You looked, unto Him, and were lightened. [9:41] You cried, unto Him, and He heard you, and saved you, and delivered you, out. of all your troubles. Don't you, just want, to bless, the Lord? [9:54] Don't you? Does anyone here, want to bless Him? I will bless the Lord. I will bless the Lord. The angel of the Lord, is even now, encamping, keeping watch over you, on every side. [10:13] we know, we know in the word, it speaks of the angel, of the Lord, it could be, a Christophany, a Christophany, it could be Christ, appearing in, in prospect, of His coming, as the Son of Man, coming in, the, foretaste of, of it, as an angel, as the angel, of the Lord. [10:34] And, the Lord Jesus is here, He can deliver you, you that fear Him. No wonder that David cried out, I will bless the Lord. [10:45] He cried out, he couldn't but cry out, when, at all times, at all times, His praise shall, continually, be in my mouth. Bless, the Lord, even when you don't feel like it. [10:59] Bless, the Lord, continually. You don't have to get, some warm and fuzzy, feeling, you don't have to get, some spooky, tingles, you don't have to even, feel like it. [11:12] I will, bless, the Lord, at, all times. Bless, the Lord, you're a blessed people, you've got, such blessing, just the blessing, of knowing Him. [11:25] You that trust Him, you are truly blessed today. Verse 9, it says, O fear the Lord, ye His saints. There is no want, for them that fear Him. [11:36] The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger, but, they that seek the Lord, shall not want, any, good thing. Friends, it says, there's a promise here for you, that you shall not want, any, good thing. [11:51] There's lots of things we want, that we're not going to get. But, you're not going to want, any, good thing. The good things. Because, He is the giver, of every good gift. He is the giver, of every good thing. [12:04] Every, good thing. We ought to bless, the Lord. Verse 11, it says, come ye children, hearken unto me, and I'll teach you, the fear of the Lord. When we bless, the Lord at all times, we want our family to know. [12:19] We want our, children to know. We want to teach others, the fear of the Lord. We want to teach others, to know Him. Verse 12, it says, what man is he, that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good? [12:33] Keep thy tongue, from evil, and thy lips, from speaking guile. Instead, let your mouth, be filled with His praise. I will bless the Lord, at all times, His praise, shall continually, be in my mouth. [12:51] Keep thy tongue, from evil, and thy lips, from speaking guile, or lies. Instead, let your mouth, be filled with His praise. It saddens me, when I see, Christians, using curse words. [13:05] Christians, using curse words, writing curse words, on Facebook, for example. Writing curse words, speaking them. Flippantly, curse words, dropped from their lips. [13:16] Order your lips, to be filled with His praise. Continually, continually, filled with His praise. Verse 14, depart from evil, and do good. Seek peace, and pursue it. [13:28] When we bless the Lord, at all times, we get a life, that is a blessing. We decide, what we say, will be a blessing. We determine, those steps, we will take, will be, on the pathway, of blessing, departing from evil, walking after peace, and righteousness. [13:49] Verse 15, the eyes of the Lord, are upon the righteous, and His ears are open, unto their cry. When we bless the Lord, there's an open heaven. When we bless the Lord, His ears are open, unto our cry. [14:02] When we bless the Lord, He will hear us. Won't you bless Him? Bless the Lord, at all times. Verse 16, the face of the Lord, is against them, that do evil, to cut off, the remembrance of them, from the earth. [14:19] Verse 17, the righteous cry, and the Lord, hear it, and delivereth them, out of, all their troubles. When we bless the Lord, at all times, He, is, our, deliverer. [14:31] He will deliver us. Verse 18, the Lord is nigh, unto them, that are of, a broken heart, and savent such, as be of, a contrite spirit. [14:41] Even if, you've got a broken heart, this very moment, think of the blessing, of His closeness to you. He is nigh, to them, that are of, a broken heart. [14:53] Bless the Lord, for that. He is near you, even when your heart, is weighed down, and heavy. Even when your, spirit, is contrite, when your heart, is broken. [15:08] As your spirit, tunes in, to the wavelength, of His spirit, the Lord, will be near to you. No matter what, we're going to bless the Lord. We're going to make that decision, I will, bless the Lord, even, in times that are hard. [15:23] As he goes on, in verse 19, many, are the afflictions, of the righteous. That sounds, a bit scary, doesn't it? Many are, the afflictions, of the righteous. [15:36] Many. But, the Lord, delivereth him, out of them all. Even in the times, of affliction, when you're not feeling well. Bless the Lord, anyhow. Bless the Lord, now, at all times, at all times. [15:51] Verse 20, He keepeth all His bones, not one of them, is broken. Evil shall slay, the wicked, and they that hate, the righteous, shall be desolate. [16:01] Verse 22, But, the Lord redeemeth the soul, of His servants, and none of them, that trust in Him, shall be desolate. When we bless the Lord, at all times, He redeems our soul, He nurtures, our faith, He makes us to flourish, and to abound, with blessings. [16:21] His praise, shall continually be, in my mouth. David says, I'm not going to stop, I'm not going to stop, praising Him. His praise, shall continually be, in my mouth. [16:33] The word praise, English word praise, comes from the Latin, a word that means, price, or value. When you praise, it's saying, that you praise Him. [16:45] You put a price of value, upon your Lord, and Saviour. You value, you say, He's worthy, when you praise Him. Tell your soul, to bless the Lord. [16:55] Turn now, to another Psalm of David. Psalm 103. I just picked a couple, here today. There's really so much, we could learn, from the Psalms. [17:06] Learn from the Psalms. Take time, to read the Psalms, when you're feeling low. You can, you can give yourself, a high, from the Psalms. [17:17] You can, you can have an upper, and you can, take the word of God, to lift you, to lift you, from this earthbound, life that we live. [17:28] David says, I'm not going to stop, praising Him. Verse 1 of Psalm 103. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that, is within me. [17:40] Bless, His holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul. David commanded, his soul, to bless, his God. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not, all his benefits. [17:56] What are some of these benefits, we could think of? The benefits, of being a safe man, a safe woman today. Verse 3, He forgiveth, all thine iniquities, who heareth, all thy diseases, who redeemeth, thy life, from destruction, who crowneth thee, with loving kindness, and tender mercies, who satisfieth, thy mouth, with good things, so that thy youth is renewed, like the eagles. [18:22] The Lord executeth righteousness, and judgment, for all that are oppressed. What has He done for you? What has He done for you, this morning? What has He done for you, through your life? [18:32] Do you stop, and bless Him? Do you stop, and forget not, all His benefits, unto you? He forgives you, He heals you, He redeems you, He crowns you, with loving kindness, and tender mercies. [18:46] He satisfies you, He renews you, He governs you, with righteousness, and justice. I will bless the Lord. Bless the Lord, O my soul, forget not, all His benefits. [19:01] Verse 7, He made known His ways, unto Moses, His acts, unto the children of Israel. Another reason, to bless the Lord, is when we consider, His grace. Consider His grace, for a moment. [19:12] The Lord is merciful, and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. Verse 9, He will not always chide, neither will He keep His anger, forever. Verse 10, He hath not dealt, with us after our sins, nor rewarded us, according to our iniquities. [19:33] Take note of verse 11, For as the heaven, so great is His mercy, toward them that fear Him. [19:50] If you're one who fears God today, the Bible says, His mercy is as high, as the heaven above the earth. [20:01] You know, they can't measure that, you know, they can't measure that, into outer space. So great is His mercy, towards them that fear Him. His mercy is truly great. [20:13] That's another good reason, to bless the Lord. You that fear Him, bless the Lord. Verse 12, As far as the east, is from the west. So far hath He removed, our transgressions from us. [20:25] That's amazing, isn't it? That His grace, has removed our transgressions, so far from us. How awesome, is His forgiveness, His love, His saving power. [20:41] Verse 13, Like as a father, pitieth his children, so the Lord, pitieth them, that fear Him. What tender love, a father, a mother has, for their child. [20:53] A tender, tender love. So the Lord, pitieth them. So the Lord, has compassion on you, that fear Him. Think of His tender, compassion, and bless, the Lord today. [21:07] Verse 14, For He knoweth our frame, that we are dust. As for man, his days are as grass, as a flower, of the field, so he flourisheth for the wind, passeth over it, and he is gone, and the place thereof, shall know it no more. [21:21] Verse 17, But the mercy, of the Lord, is from everlasting, to everlasting, upon them, that fear Him, and His righteousness, unto children's children, to such as keep His covenant, and to those that remember, His commandments, to do them, the Lord hath prepared, His throne, in the heavens, and His kingdom, ruleeth over all. [21:43] Bless the Lord. David closes this Psalm, verse 20, Bless the Lord, ye His angels. He tells the angels, bless the Lord, ye that excel in strength, that do His commandments, hearkening unto the voice, of His word. [21:59] Verse 21, Bless ye the Lord, all ye His hosts, ye ministers of His, that do His pleasure. Verse 22, Bless the Lord, all His works, in all places, of His dominion. [22:13] That means everything, doesn't it? All His works, in all places. David says, Bless the Lord. Bless the Lord. Psalm 150, verse 6, it says, Let everything, that, hath breath, praise the Lord. [22:31] Praise ye, the Lord. Bless the Lord, O my soul. Will you bless Him? Will you bless Him? [22:42] Will you say, I will bless, the Lord. Will you say, as the psalmist said, I will bless the Lord, at all times, His praise shall, continually be, in my mouth. [22:55] Let us pray. Heavenly Father, we thank you that, we can bless you. We can come in praise, in that frame of, in that frame of, of bowing, our hearts to you. [23:09] We pray, if there's any yet, to be saved, that they'll find, that reason to bless you. The saving grace, that takes our sins, so far, as the east, is from the west. [23:21] That mercy, that is as high, as the heavens, above the earth. Lord, we thank you, that you came in Christ, to come, as the, ultimate, absolute, complete sacrifice. [23:39] In Christ, you came, in the person of your son, to be that one, that perfect one, to take man's sin, even the ugly, ugliness of sin, the most ugly sins, we could think of, as we talked of today. [23:55] The most ugliest of sins, you've taken it. You've, you've borne our guilt, our shame, the vileness of our sin. You've borne it, Lord Jesus, on your cross. [24:08] You've paid it there, in nailing, in being nailed there, for us. We pray, if there's anyone here, today, that yet to be saved, they don't know, what it means, to bless you. [24:21] They're not saved yet. We pray, that they'll cry out, even now, for mercy. They'll cry out, for mercy. Lord, they'll say, Lord, I don't understand it all, but I know, I'm not worthy of heaven. [24:36] I don't understand, it all, why you bled, and died, why you had to, suffer for me, but I know you did, for my sin. And I thank you, for dying on the cross, for my sin. [24:49] I receive you, as my saviour, my Lord, now and forever, your forgiveness, for my sin. I receive it now, by faith. We pray, for anyone, who's prayed such a prayer, that they might, tell someone today, that they've prayed, that prayer right now. [25:09] Pray, if there's any, who are struggling, in their Christian walk, there's things, that are dragging them, down to earth. Help them, Lord, to lift up, their eyes, and see things, from a new, a new way, of looking at life. [25:27] If there's people, here today, that are, sick, and sorrowing, and, they're in affliction, today, they can say, many are the afflictions, of the righteous, but the Lord, delivereth them, out of them all. [25:40] Lord, we pray for deliverance, for those that, need it today. Pray for refreshing, pray that, each soul, might come to say, bless the Lord, oh my soul, and forget not, all his benefits. [25:55] We thank you, Lord, in Jesus' name. Amen. Amen.
