Satan, in his attacks, can be subtle. We need to wise up to his strategies. He deceiveth the whole world. The majority will be misled. And his plan has always been this, to deceive. Notice that it will be a secular deception. Just some thoughts to spell out how I would see this deception unfolding. Firstly, it's a secular deception. A secular deception. Many these days unthinkingly swallow whatever it is that the media tells them. Whatever is dished out by the media. They will swallow the lies that are dished out to them. The media feeds us lies every day. The serpent is still as cunning and seductive as ever. You know, what has been called today the new age is really the old lie. It's not new. It's old. It's the old lie.

[2:27] The new age movement. We see that in the educators and governors of our day. What they're pumping out to the school students, the uni students, even the kindy students. The humanism, the lies of evolution. You're just another life form. You're just as valuable as the ants that you step on when you walk out of here. That's your value in the eyes of the world. And evil has been rebadged, repackaged, such that now evil, they've changed the label. It now says good.

[3:06] Come and take a drink. Drink this Kool-Aid. It's good. It's evil. The Bible says that they will call evil good and good evil in Isaiah 5 verse 20. It says, whoa, answer them. That call evil good and good evil. That put darkness for light and light for darkness and put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter. Whoa, answer them. The Bible says that this is what is going to happen. People will rebadge that which is good and call it evil and repackage that which is evil and sell it to you as something good. There's a mass, broad scale, secular deception going on. As we see the left-leaning media and the politicians and lawmakers pushing on people their agenda, which is really the agenda of the evil one. Now what we receive these days, I was just having a look, just a brief Google search. Came up with what the world is saying is evidently the case. It's factual. Well, Google says it's factual. But I mean, in the sense that if you do a search for this, how is the media controlled? You can do a search for this yourself and you will find that most sources are saying that the bulk of America's mainline media is owned and controlled. This is 90%. 90% is controlled by a mere five giant corporations.

[4:50] Some say five, six or so. But basically five giant corporations control all the media. 90% of the media. And then apparently as to the news content, you've got Reuters and Associated Press. Reuters and Associated Press provide most of the news. And who owns Reuters and Associated Press? The Rothschilds. The Rothschilds. So it's all controlled by a select group of corporations that are owned owned by very controlling kind of people who've got their own agenda. And how are we seeing this today? We're seeing it, for example, I put to you in the same sex agenda. It's yet another smokescreen that's really all about undermining biblical values and morality. Because once these ungodly laws come into play, where we cannot decide as to a marriage between a man and a woman, now it's something that's perverted and twisted and corrupted. The holy institution, the sacred institution of marriage is now trashed and corrupted and soiled with that which is abomination and evil in the sight of God. And we're seeing this undermining of biblical values and morality such that ultimately, if you tuck it to the extreme as to what it leads to, it's really a relentless campaign against biblical Christianity. Because we won't be able to speak so forthrightly against such things when it might be seen as discrimination. But the Bible does say we should discriminate, we should discern, we should judge, we should decide between right and wrong, between evil and good. But this is a campaign being waged on many fronts through all kinds of media.

[6:59] We're seeing it across the political sphere, within the halls of power, the halls of power that govern our land, in the secret societies such as Freemasonry, in the infiltrating of education for all ages and all media.

[7:16] There's a churning of this constant propaganda machine. And yet many are blissfully unaware of what's happening. They just don't even realise that this is what's happening. Secular deception, I put to you. It's secular.

[7:54] Another point I'd like to make is self-deception. Self-deception. There is a self-deception that goes on in our world today, in people's thinking.

[8:06] People are self-deception. 2 Timothy 3 verse 13 tells us, But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse. Evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse.

[8:20] They'll become more and more so. Deceiving and being deceived. So not only are these evil men and seducers, these ones who are trying to corrupt and influence people in an evil way, they are deceived and they're deceiving themselves. Self-deception.

[8:53] And you can sincerely believe me that this is water when really it's poison. It's poison. You can be sincerely wrong. I could be sincerely wrong and just drink this. Thankfully it is just water but...

[9:29] Many good people are in the cults today. They're falling hard after false beliefs, yet not realising their self-perception. It's sad. It's sad. I know someone was just telling me this morning how he had spent some time with the Jehovah's Witness people.

[9:48] And he'd helped build a kingdom hall. And he said they're such lovely people. They are! They're people just like you and me. But they are suffering self-deception. They are deceived and being deceived.

[10:03] They're deceiving and being deceived. They've been led astray into some perversion, some substitute. Led astray. I was reading lately how Mormons, some huge proportion of Mormons, to be Baptists.

[10:23] Now, I'm not saying Baptists have necessarily got it all together, but they were in a professing Bible teaching church. And they became Mormons.

[10:34] Self-deception. The enemy of our soul works covertly. And he brings spiritual block in us that's holding many in darkness today.

[10:46] Satan is a master con artist. He really is a con artist. You know, you make a good used car salesman. I hope there's no used car salesman here. So they go, he's a con artist. He's a trickster.

[10:58] He cons people and it's easy to fall for his tricks. And the reality of deception is that it happens unknowingly. It creeps up on us. And we're not even aware of it.

[11:09] You know, it happens incrementally, doesn't it? Incrementally. Look at where the Salvation Army used to be. And where they are today. Some things happen incrementally. Such that something's changed.

[11:22] They're not preaching the gospel like they used to. If at all. And it's happening in many quarters too. Not picking on the Salvos necessarily. I know that some have got loyalty to the Salvos here tonight.

[11:35] But what did William Booth start off with? You know, what did Wesley start off with? And what's that looking like now? I mean, there's likely room for improvement right from the beginning.

[11:47] But nevertheless, there was some tangible, some element of biblical foundation in the pioneering stages. And yet, incrementally subtle changes such that it's nothing like it used to be.

[12:03] And there's a self-deception. It creeps up on us. You know, self-deception creeps up on us. Because we're not even aware of it. And the Bible tells us how the enemy of our souls blinds the minds of people.

[12:17] We see that in 2 Corinthians 4 verse 4. 2 Corinthians 4 verse 4. It says, In whom the God, small g, of this world, has blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

[12:52] They profess themselves to be wise, but they become fools. We see that in the universities. Where some, they get this inflated pride and this sense of self-importance, that they know it all, and yet they know nothing.

[13:06] They're largely completely oblivious to what's going on. This is what happens in the cults. And Satan is the mastermind of deception. And it's global, people. This deception, it's a secular deception.

[13:20] It's global, it's through media, through the entire news and information systems of our world. It's secular. It's overtaken our world in every possible way.

[13:32] This deception is a self-deception, such that those that are themselves deceiving, are themselves deceived. Thirdly, we see it's a spiritual deception. This deception is of a spiritual nature.

[13:47] And we're repeatedly told in God's word to be alert to spiritual deception. Satan and his underlings are themselves deceived, and they appear as ministers of righteousness.

[14:00] They're the ones that the world looks up to. The greatest preacher in America. A minister of righteousness. But what is he really on about? What does he really... Where is his look at this really?

[14:12] 2 Corinthians 11, 13 it says, For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.

[14:28] And no marvel for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of life. False apostles. There's a lot of talk about apostles and prophets today.

[14:40] The new apostolic reformation. There's talk about various people who call themselves apostles. And they call themselves prophets. As if it's some title to brag about.

[14:54] And Satan himself takes on the guise of an angel of life. An angel of life. So it's saying here he masquerades himself as something that seems attractive.

[15:08] And it's something that's of God. Many claim religious books and religious encounters with supposed angels visiting them.

[15:21] Notice there's various ancient books that people say, an angel revealed this to me. They claim mystical revelations and signs and wonders. And we're seeing that in Christian churches.

[15:36] Extra biblical revelation. It's not in here. Just what they think. They had some visit to heaven. They had some encounter.

[15:48] It could be that the angel Moroni, who was said to have appeared to Joseph Smith, was a real angel. It's very possible.

[16:02] A fallen angel. A fallen angel. And this has led to the Mormon deception. There are over 15 million Mormons today. On our planet.

[16:15] 15 million Mormons. Lovely people. The large part of them, I'm sure. Every Mormon I've met has been a very nice person. I went to school with one.

[16:27] At 18, he was going through his training. And I could see. The Mormon says this. And the person they're visiting says this. Then the Mormon says that. And then the person they're witnessing to says that. Thoroughly trained.

[16:40] Line by line. Everything that they're told by someone at the door, they've got a response for.

[16:55] And this man, this school student, friend of mine, was preparing to be a missionary. preparing to be a missionary. For two years of his life, he was going to go to another country as the Mormon church sent him to go and dedicate his life to the service of the Mormon God.

[17:17] Deception. The Bible tells of false prophets in the latter days. In 2 Peter 2, we read, but there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be.

[17:30] False teeth among you, frivolous, shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that brought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction, and many shall follow their pernicious ways, by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.

[19:10] They are in the process, this article says, of stripping her of her rights to continue as minister. They're starting to, maybe, maybe head, that's partly in the right direction. But, you know, the United Church, can an atheist lead a Protestant church?

[19:26] Well, she is. She is leading it at the time of this article, September. God help us. God help us. There's a saying, Canada.

[19:41] But what about Australia? You know, it's happening all over. It's global deception. It's secular. It's self-deception, spiritual deception. We've seen this decline, this falling away, these heresies that abound.

[19:58] And heresies seem all the more accessible these days, don't they? Tune into your internet and you can get your, you could get your heart's door of all kinds of heresies.

[20:11] They're abundant. There's many voices that clamor for our ears. Many people along the way have lost faith in the churches. I know someone was telling me earlier today. They've lost faith in the churches.

[20:22] No wonder. No wonder. Where the churches have gone astray from Bible truth, get out of them.

[20:33] Steer clear. No wonder many Christians are confused about, about what to believe. Because they're not faithful to a faithful church.

[20:44] They take a bit here, a bit there, a bit from here, a bit from there, and it brings doctrinal confusion and misunderstanding. The enemy loves it this way.

[20:55] Where biblical Christianity worldwide is in a state of decline. And many Christians are lax and careless. Because there's no absolutes anymore. There's not a Bible you can rely on anymore.

[21:08] There's all these footnotes saying, oh, doubt this verse, doubt that thing, doubt that. Rather than believing it. We've got a Bible we can believe in. Amen? There is a Bible we can believe in.

[21:21] There is an absolute from God. There was one woman talking to me lately. She claimed to be a spiritual person. Spiritual. Oprah Winfrey's very spiritual too.

[21:32] A lot of people talk about being spiritual rather than being Christian. And this woman, she was telling me how she was very spiritual. And her female partner wanted to speak to me.

[21:48] And I showed her from the Bible, a Bible verse that lovingly, tactfully, with a care for her soul, with sensitivity, I showed her that there was a Bible verse that tells how lesbianism is a sin.

[22:05] And we should turn from it. Just, Bible's that. It's a King James Bible. Oh, I've not seen that before. As if, I said, I'm sure that one is pretty much the same in any Bible.

[22:16] It doesn't really matter what Bible you've got. But she said, oh, she sort of went on saying, I'll believe what I want to believe. It doesn't matter what that says. No.

[22:28] I didn't do it to condemn her, to be harsh, but I'm just telling her the truth. That's all we can do, isn't it? Someone has lied to her. In all the churches and spiritual experiences that she has had, someone has lied to her.

[22:45] They haven't told her the truth. We're being lied to. We're being lied to by many of the popular TV preachers. Not necessarily all of them. It's good and bad.

[22:56] Take your pick here and there, yes. But there's a counterfeit gospel that is prevalent. And we're being conditioned into accepting these things. That it's true. When it's not biblical.

[23:09] It's not accepted historic biblical doctrine and practice. It's something newfound. New way. There are churches today who regularly adopt unscriptural practices.

[23:27] Totally unbiblical practices. Such as slaying in the spirit. Slaying in the spirit. It's almost like it becomes a part of the service that they have to have this particular ritual or this particular display.

[23:46] But it's not in Hebrew. That's the problem. You can't find it in the Bible. It's just not there. And people are not questioning the fact that there's no Bible behind these practices.

[23:58] And in some quarters we see the other extreme where the grace of God is replaced with a performance of religious works. Where you're in a bondage to a ritual servile kind of keeping yourself saved by what you do.

[24:21] Again, wrong. And so people are running on this treadmill of works never knowing the saving grace of God. Never knowing that you can know that you know that you know that you're saved.

[24:34] This is the record that you can know that you have the present sense eternal life. It's not achieving it or maintaining it by they're irrelevant.

[24:46] And the lines have been blurred between righteousness and unrighteousness. The church is under attack. Discord and division. Toxic people with toxic talk.

[24:58] The sowing of discord is a thoroughly wicked sin that God hates. We don't do that in this church. Murmurers and backbiters are doing the devil's work.

[25:10] The devil would love us to be such. The Bible tells us some whose mouths must be stopped. Their mouths must be stopped so you can't hear the words.

[25:21] They're doing damage to God's work. Doing damage to God's work. The devil works in so many ways doesn't he? In spiritual deception within churches. The constant deception is happening where there's a declining impact of the church.

[25:37] We've stopped being salt and light. We've lost our impact. And at the heart of it all is the enemy's hatred of the truth. The truth is under attack. The truth is under attack.

[25:48] It's been diluted, distorted, mixed with error such you can't find it anymore. And there's this superficial Christianity that's light and fluffy and weak and watered down.

[26:00] No substance to it. No gospel there anymore. And the God, small g, that people worship is some kind of fuzzy God. A bit like maybe this God that they've stopped believing in now.

[26:12] That they don't even believe in the God of the Bible and what the God of the Bible says and what the God of the Bible calls us to. The Bible is disregarded. They don't even preach the Bible.

[26:25] Modern man knows better, so he thinks. And churches are filled with lost people and in godly ways. Now this church is filled at times with people who are lost thinking they're saved.

[26:40] That is a tragic truth. And there are churches and there are pastors, preachers who are not saved. And they're called ministers of righteousness.

[26:52] That's what the Bible says will happen in 2 Corinthians. The ministers of righteousness will be lost men and women. Churches and pastors unsaved leading others into more and more error.

[27:05] Deception. It's subtle but it's happening. The enemy will find our weak spot, our Achilles heel if you like. Our lack of prayer. Our lack of Bible study.

[27:17] Our lack of seeking after his faith. I know there's people in this church who fast and pray. We need that. We need Bible believing people in Bible believing churches.

[27:31] And yet even in such many are being led astray by worldliness and spiritual deception. Demonic influence and they're unaware of it.

[27:43] Why? Because people are biblically illiterate. They're biblically illiterate. So they don't even have a faithful Bible let alone read it. 1 Timothy 4 verse 1 it says, Now the Spirit speaketh expressly that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils.

[28:07] The latter days. The latter times. So what are we to do in these days of deception? I put to you we need a couple of things. We need watchmen. I know there's people that have got a heart for the prophetic signs of the times.

[28:25] We've got a heart for warning people. We need that. I was talking to a brother earlier. And we need ministries like we need people to sound the alarm. Lift up your voice like a trumpet.

[28:38] We need watchmen. One of the problems is that the watchmen are not at their post. They're that's what I'll give Julia trouble when I go like that because she hates my snoring.

[28:53] We need watchmen who are awake not asleep. One of the problems is that the watchmen are not at their post. They're asleep. Isaiah 62 verse 6 it says I have set watchmen upon thy walls O Jerusalem.

[29:08] The watchmen will be stationed upon the walls high up watching out on the horizon to see for the approaching enemy. We need watchmen on the walls who will keep alert and watch out.

[29:19] Jeremiah 6 verse 17 it says I set watchmen over you saying hearken to the sound of the trumpet but they said we will not hearken.

[29:33] Jeremiah 6 verse 17 hearken to the sound of the trumpet we will not hearken. That's what's happening today. The enemy wants to annihilate the church and put out its flame.

[29:46] Of course we know the real church will never die. The gates of hell shall not prevail. We're going to smash them down. The real church will always be the remnant of God's people.

[29:58] But the enemy wants to annihilate the church to snuff out the flame to put us to sleep to dilute and deform what the church is such that it's not the church anymore.

[30:10] And we need to keep spiritually alert. We need watchmen in these days. Watchmen will scan the horizon. Watchmen will watch out for the wolves and those that will hurt the sheep.

[30:23] Watchmen who will be spiritually alert. That's all of us isn't it? We should be vigilant. Don't be fooled. Satan is busily planting tears amongst the wheat.

[30:35] We read of that in Matthew 13. In other words he infiltrates church groups and virtue runs denominations today. Now that sounds a bit almost far fetched but that's my perception at least.

[30:50] But I believe certainly the son that stand out. You know the Pope of Rome Pope supposedly it's not the Pope because Pope means father. Call no man father. But the Pope of Rome is evil.

[31:05] Evil. The enemy is running some denominations certainly such as them. Matthew 13 it says but while men slept his enemy came and sowed tears among the wheat and went his way.

[31:22] The enemy came while the people should be watching and guarding the field. The enemy came while the watchman was asleep. And when the blade sprung up and brought forth fruit there appeared tears also.

[31:35] So the servants of the household came and said unto him sir didst thou sow good seed in thy field for whence then hath it tears. He said unto them an enemy have done this. The servant said unto him wilt thou then that we go and gather them up.

[31:50] Tears amongst the wheat. I know a brother was talking to me some while back and saying how it's a fact and I believe him that there's only a small number of churchgoers they're saying.

[32:02] We can't take for granted that everyone here is a Christian. I pray that you will be a Christian. I pray that you are a Christian. But we can't take that for granted because there's tears amongst the wheat.

[32:16] They look like wheat but they're tears. It's a weed that looks like wheat. They're weeds that look like wheat. And the enemy is sowing tears amongst the wheat.

[32:29] Why? Because the people are sleeping. Church is asleep. The devil is lulling many to sleep. He'll sing you a lullaby. He'll make it very peaceful for you.

[32:40] And oh you're going to have such a sweet sleep. Many are slumbering. And where does sleep begin with inactivity? You clock off for work and you walk in the front door and oh where's that pillow?

[32:54] That's what I feel like. When you become inactive you start to get sleep. You don't. Let's not be inactive Christians. This doesn't mean we're running a treadmill of works but we want to be active for our Lord don't we?

[33:08] Don't get inactive because you start to go to sleep. No one going to sleep here tonight? I'm watching. We can get overtaken by a spirit of slumber.

[33:19] What is the answer? We need watchmen on the wall. So number one solution I put to you is we need watchmen. We need to be wakeful watchmen. And secondly we need the word.

[33:30] The word of God. This book has the answer. It has the answer to deception. How do you counter deception? With the truth. The truth.

[33:41] The truth preached soundly and resolutely and forthrightly. In John 8 31 and 32 the Lord Jesus said to those Jews who believed on him. If you continue in my word then are you my disciples indeed.

[33:55] And you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free. God's word is the measuring stick. This is our freedom. This is our liberty.

[34:06] This is our standard. Our stand. The truth shall set you free. It's the only authoritative message that we need is the measure of God's word.

[34:17] It will help us to discern between right and wrong. Between sound doctrine and false doctrine. It will help us to discern the truth. And this is a more sure word. More sure word.

[34:32] I've heard it said I've got a word from the Lord for you. Here it is. This is the more sure word of prophecy. People might claim to prophesy and give you latter day revelations and prophecies but friends test it.

[34:48] Test it. Test it. Test the spirits. Try the spirits. This is the more sure word of prophecy. There's nothing that you can take that's in contradiction to it.

[34:58] Don't take it. Don't receive it. So it says in Isaiah 8 verse 20 to the law and to the testimony if they speak not according to this word it is because there is no light in them.

[35:13] So that's how we decide. That's how we judge. We're not judging people. The word judges us. I was talking to that young woman lovingly because I care for her.

[35:27] I showed her the truth. Oh you're judging me. I'm just saying what it says. That's all I'm doing. I'm just telling you what it says. Because I care for your soul.

[35:40] If they speak not according to this book, this word, there's no light in them. God is truth. The absolute author of truth. And he is the author of absolute truth. And so his word is absolute truth.

[35:55] Rock solid 100% from cover to cover you can believe this book. Every word is pure. Every word. It always was and it always will be.

[36:17] You can trust this book. Every word. And friends we are at war. We need to be watchmen. We need to be wakeful. We need the word. We're at war. It's a property of warfare that's waging and it's intense.

[36:31] Unrelenting. A battle for truth versus lies. In days of deception we ever more need the truth. We must have the truth. And it's time to confront the lies.

[36:43] Lovingly because we care we will confront the lies. We need the courage to speak the truth in these days in which we live. Many are following false teachings and truth is scarce.

[36:58] You know truth is falling in the street like a piece of rubbish. People just kick it along like a can. Truth is falling in the streets. Who cares about the truth. We need the courage to stand for the truth.

[37:12] There's many deceiving spirits, many false teachings. How desperately we need to discern truth from error. How will we? By the word. This is our absolute, ultimate, authoritative guide to the truth.

[37:26] The antidote for delusion is God's truth. We must expose error and counteract it. There's much talk these days as I've said about people being spiritual. Spiritual.

[37:37] Oprah Winfrey is very spiritual. She's a very spiritual woman. Yeah. She's got a spirit, all right. 1 John 4 verse 6, We are of God, he that knoweth God heareth us, he that is not of God heareth not us.

[37:54] Hereby know we the spirit of truth and the spirit of error. There's two spirits. You can get very spiritual. There's some people who who are very spiritual following witchcraft and magic and horoscopes and all kinds of spirits.

[38:17] There's the spirit of truth and the spirit of error. You've got to discern between the truth. How do we know the spirit of truth? He'll always speak in accordance with this. That's how we can presume whether it's the spirit of truth.

[38:30] And people of God today, I urge you, my heart's plea for you is that we wise up. The enemy of our soul and his destructive ways, the spiritual bondage that people are held captive in, the seduction, now is no time for compromise.

[38:49] There's no time for it anymore. It's the last hour, the last hour. Time is short. These are the latter times, the latter days.

[38:59] And we can't toy any longer. We cannot. We dare not. And the spirit of truth can set us free. He can empower us to live righteously and rightly.

[39:14] And his word is absolute, absolute truth. We're facing an onslaught of evil. It tells how the enemy shall come in like a flood. We've seen a bit of that lately, haven't we?

[39:26] Some floods. It just wipes everything out, doesn't it? What a wipeout. The enemy shall come like a flood. But the spirit of the Lord shall raise up a standard against him.

[39:39] The spirit of the Lord. So as we face this onslaught of evil, as we face that which masquerades as something good, when it's not, in these days of deception, it calls for a biblical response.

[39:52] A biblical response, such that we be a biblical people, a biblical people, with a biblical heart, a biblical zeal, and call sin for what it is, and call the people to follow hard after God.

[40:10] God's no type of compromise. In this ungodly world, more than ever before, we need a biblical warning. Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a comfort.

[40:26] We need to guard against the heresies, the phonies, that seem to prevail, and to be grounded in this book, the absolute truth, the absolute truth, 100% guaranteed by God.

[40:39] God's word, we can be founded and grounded in this truth. So friends today, be exhorted and encouraged today that even as we see, yes, deception prevails, God said it would.

[40:53] Beware lest you be deceived. Keep wising up, keep alert, keep vigilant, and keep sober, keep temperate, keep wakeful, and be spiritual about it.

[41:08] I'm just going to close this time in prayer now. Lord, we thank you that we can know the truth, and the truth can make us free. We pray, Lord, that each one here today would know that gospel truth, that gospel truth that you came in Christ to take our sin upon yourself, to pay the price for it, the penalty, the punishment, all for us.
