[0:00] If you were here this morning, you know the rules and regulations, the reason why I'm up here in the high pulpit to provide some social distancing. [0:10] Just to remind you at the end of the service there will be no tea or coffee I'm afraid and to exit from the back after I've gone, Norman will guide you out one by one. [0:30] A couple of notices to remind you, Wednesday night we have our prayer meeting and Norman will be leading that, 7pm in the lower hall. [0:41] Next Sunday, 11 and 6 o'clock, services will be led by Thompson McKenzie from Dowan Vale Free Church in Glasgow. [0:54] With our minister, Trevor, having left, we now have an interim moderator, Kenny MacLeod, for whom we give thanks, and he is organising preaching for us, so there will be a number of men coming to preach for us. [1:14] Thompson McKenzie is, we understand, a mature student who is considering becoming a candidate for the Free Church ministry. [1:26] Then Wednesday, 26th of August at 7pm is our annual congregational meeting, chaired by the Reverend Kenny MacLeod. We're not allowed to sing, unfortunately, under the current regulations, but William hopefully has some psalms pre-recorded for us, so that we can at least listen and follow in our hearts and minds. [1:58] And the first one tonight is going to be Psalm 93, the first five verses, which begin, the Lord is saying, the Lord is King. The Lord is King, His throne endures majestic in His height. [2:13] The Lord is robed in majesty and armed with strength and might. The Lord is King, His throne endures majestic in His height. [2:32] The Lord is King, His throne endures majestic in His height. [2:47] The Lord is King, His throne endures majestic in His height. [3:17] He's in His height. The Lord is King, His throne enduresλε to him, to Him and His height. The Lord is king, His height. [3:29] The Lord is King, His throne endures bounds over with His height. The Network of Communications let's come before God in prayer oh gracious God and Father indeed you are clothed in light and majesty and your word is all powerful in all the earth you command and it is done we thank you for the glory of creation all around us we thank you for your sovereign hand in providence even though at this present time it is also a hand of judgment even in the midst of this coronavirus still we give you thanks and we know that your ways are always wise and right we confess our many sins before you our own personal sins the sins of the church the sins of this nation [5:10] Lord indeed we are a fallen race but how we thank you that you and your love have sent the Lord Jesus Christ your son to be our saviour and we praise you for the perfect salvation that we have in him the blood of the new covenant that cleanses us from all unrighteousness grant us to know even at the outset of this service the rich blessing of the forgiveness of sins grant us to know the outpouring of your Holy Spirit teach us tonight through your word encourage us and lift up our hearts and go with us we pray into this new week that we may live to your praise and your glory for we ask in Jesus Christ's name Amen We have two readings this evening the first one is from 1 Samuel chapter 21 a rather obscure Old Testament story the reason for reading it is that the commentators think that this is the background to Psalm 56 which is what we will be looking at later on in the sermon so first we are going to read 1 Samuel 21 [6:47] Then David came to Nob to Ahimelech the priest and Ahimelech came to meet David trembling and said to him Why are you alone? [7:06] and no one with you and David said to Ahimelech the priest The king has charged me with a matter and said to me Let no one know anything of the matter about which I sent you and with which I have charged you I have made an appointment with the young men for such and such a place Now then what do you have at hand? [7:33] Give me five loaves of bread or whatever is here And the priest answered David I have no common bread at hand but there is holy bread if the young men have kept themselves from women And David answered the priest truly women have been kept from us as always when I go on an expedition The vessels of the young men are holy even when it is not even when it is an ordinary journey How much more today will their vessels be holy? [8:12] So the priest gave him the holy bread For there was no bread there but the bread of the presence which is removed from before the Lord to be replaced by hot bread on the day it is taken away Now a certain man of the servants of Saul was there that day detained before the Lord His name was Doeg the Edomite the chief of Saul's herdsmen Then David said to Ahimelech Then have you not here a spear or a sword at hand? [8:49] For I have brought neither my sword nor my weapons with me because the king's business required haste And the priest said The sword of Goliath the Philistine whom you struck down in the valley of Elah Behold it is here wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod If you will take that take it for there is none but that here And David said There is none like that Give it to me And David rose and fled that day from Saul and went to Achish the king of Gath And the servants of Achish said to him Is not this David the king of the land? [9:40] Did they not sing to one another of him in dances? Saul has struck down his thousands and David his ten thousands And David took these words to heart and was much afraid of Achish the king of Gath So he changed his behaviour before them and pretended to be insane in their hands and made marks on the door of the gate and let his spittle run down his beard Then Achish said to his servants Behold you see the man is mad Why then have you brought him to me? [10:20] Do I lack madmen? That you have brought this fellow to behave as a madman in my presence? Shall this fellow come into my house? [10:33] David departed from there and escaped to the cave of Adullam Now we'll read Psalm 56 Headed up to the choir master according to the dove on far off Terebinth a miktam of David when the Philistines seized him in Gath Be gracious to me O God for man tramples on me All day long an attacker oppresses me My enemies trample on me all day long for many attack me proudly When I am afraid I put my trust in you In God whose word I praise [11:34] In God I trust I shall not be afraid What can flesh do to me? All day long they injure my cause All their thoughts are against me for evil They stir up strife They lurk They watch my steps As they have waited for my life For their crime will they escape In wrath cast down the peoples O God You have kept count of my tossings Put my tears in your bottle Are they not in your book? [12:17] Then my enemies will turn back in the day when I call This I know that God is for me In God whose word I praise In the Lord whose word I praise In God I trust I shall not be afraid What can man do to me? [12:38] I must perform my vows to you O God I will render thank offerings to you For you have delivered my soul from death Yes my feet from falling That I may walk before God in the light of life Well we'll come back to that a little later but let's now come before the Lord again in prayer Heavenly Father these are ancient things of which we have read the struggles of David in those days when Saul was seeking his life fleeing to Gath and feeling threatened by the Philistines Lord we thank you for the magnificent example that he sets us of faith that in the midst of it all he could say [13:41] I trust in God Lord in the midst of all the various kinds of trials and fears that come upon us help us to say the same in God I trust I shall not be afraid particularly particularly at this time of coronavirus we pray that you will lift from our hearts all the fear that is natural and yet would overwhelm us help us indeed to be cautious to be practical to do those things that are necessary and required by law and yet help us that we might always keep our eyes fixed upon the one who is our health and our salvation we pray for our nation at this time we pray for our first minister [14:42] Nicola Sturgeon and we pray for the government in Westminster and indeed for the governments all around the world as they wrestle particularly with this issue and we ask you to give them wisdom neither to be too lax in these matters nor to become too worried or to panic needlessly but to find that right balance that will truly give us some measure of safety without causing crushing trouble in our economy and our social lives without need we pray for those who have been directly affected by the virus for those who are ill at this present time or are still recovering as we understand it takes a very long time to recover and especially for those who have been bereaved through it and ask you that your comfort may come to them but we pray also for this nation and all the nations that they might heed the wake up call that they might realise that indeed we are mortal that we must face one day the judgement of God that people might seek after the [16:09] Lord and be saved we pray heavenly father for your church that we might be a light in the darkness at this present time and particularly that you would help us to continue to proclaim the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ to proclaim him who is the same yesterday and today and forever to proclaim that one and only way of salvation we feel ourselves to be very much reduced here we're conscious of our great weakness but we pray that we might know your great strength and that you would grant us wisdom and courage as we seek to serve you in this locality in the months that lie ahead we pray for our interim moderator and ask you to give him wisdom as he sends preachers here and as he presides over that congregational meeting and lord whatever is right in your sight we pray that that may be done we we we commit to you [17:30] Trevor and his new ministry in northern ireland even this evening we pray for them in their service we pray for churches around the country some meeting together now as we are publicly many still feeling it's better just to meet online but in all circumstances we pray that you would be in the midst of your people and that you would be glorified we thank you for personal blessings granted to us thank you for a new baby born into the congregation thank you for every mercy that has come to us in recent days we pray for those who are in particular need once again we bring Colin before you in his need of a new job we pray lord that you would be with us all through the coming week helping us to walk in the ways of the lord to walk in the light of life as those who have been delivered by the lord jesus christ lord hear us in all these prayers for we ask in the name of jesus christ our savior amen now we're going to hear another psalm before we look at the word of god and it is psalm 34 verses 1 to 9 begins at all times i will bless the lord i'll praise him with my voice well unfortunately we can't do that tonight can we but we can praise him in our hearts as we hear the voices of others because i glory in the lord let troubled souls rejoice together let us praise the lord exalt his name with me i sought the lord his answer came from fears he set me free same testimony as psalm 56 of that all times i will bless the lord in praise my love and cry my soul will live while lord may join me we'll hear with joy oh magnify the lord may be [20:09] Let us and let us this day In all my years I saw the world In deliverance day Then who's the hidden and radiant Where God's shame they will now be With warm and bright the Lord And earth from trouble set him free The angel of the Lord In comes from those who do him fear And comes around them So that they by him deliver on [21:11] For taste and see the Lord is good Who trusted him in his best Fear in his sakes The Lord is good And will be with all distress The lions young may come grieving And they may not ever But those who truly seek the glory And are the heavy words Well let me ask you to turn now If you have your Bibles with you To Psalm 56 [22:11] I'm not going to attempt to preach On the whole psalm in detail But I want to focus just on verses 3 and 4 When I am afraid I will put my trust in you In God whose word I praise In God I trust I shall not be afraid What can flesh do to me If you were to ask people What is their favourite book in the Bible Then many will say the Psalms And with good reason The 4th century theologian Athanasius Likens the Psalms to a garden Bearing all kinds of fruits There are Psalms of praise [23:15] And there are Psalms of prayer There are Psalms of joy And there are Psalms of sorrow There are Psalms of confession And Psalms of thanksgiving There are Psalms of instruction And there are Psalms of reflection The whole range of spiritual experience Is covered in the Psalms Athanasius says that the Psalms are a mirror In which we see ourselves He says they describe the emotions of the soul Well here in our text David speaks of fear And that's certainly an emotion Which all of us know Fears can be of three kinds [24:15] There are irrational fears Which we ought not to have But we do There are rational fears Which it is right to have And there are fears Which we ought to have But don't Because we're unaware Of the danger Some fears of course Straddle those boundaries They're partly rational And partly irrational Many children for example Are afraid of the dark Well there could be something dangerous Out there Though there probably isn't Many people are afraid of spiders Well there are poisonous spiders [25:17] But most of them aren't For many years I was afraid of dogs Really afraid When I was a small child I had a red setter That jumped up on me It was probably just being playful But I didn't know that And I was terrified And for years I would cross over the road To avoid being anywhere near a dog I was in my twenties Before I overcame that Shortly after I was converted Living in rented accommodation My landlord Asked me to look after his dog For him for a few days Not knowing my fears I felt obliged As a Christian To say yes I prayed about it And I was amazed At how friendly [26:17] Old Rufus was And how he seemed to know That I was looking after him And each night When I came home From my job In the city I would find him Sitting on my doorstep Waiting for me To feed him Dogs can be dangerous Of course I got bitten by a dog At Kelavrak A couple of years ago But generally speaking That's an unnecessary fear I looked up Phobias On the internet And I found a list of 107 common phobias Many of which I'd never heard of The fear of darkness Apparently is called A clueophobia The fear of spiders Is arachnophobia And the fear of dogs Actually has a name It's cynophobia [27:18] Some people apparently Are afraid of flowers That's called Anthrophobia And others are afraid Of travelling by car And that's called Amaxophobia And so on If you don't suffer From these things Then you might perhaps Smile and think How silly But if you do I imagine It's really no joke On the other hand Some fears are Definitely rational If a man is walking Rapidly towards you Holding a knife Then you are perfectly Right to be afraid If a tiger has been Set loose in the street Then you had better Stay indoors Coronavirus has produced A mixture of Rational and [28:19] Irrational fears Obviously a virus Which could potentially Kill you Is a cause for concern For some however The relentless Warnings Have magnified The risk in their minds Out of all proportion So that they're afraid Virtually to step out Of the house Afraid to go near anyone Afraid to touch anything That could remotely pose Any kind of risk Of contamination Of course there are Other fears Connected with the lockdown Very real fears People fearful of Losing their jobs And sometimes with Very good reason It really does happen All of us however Have our fears Fears of one kind Or another [29:19] We may have fears About our health Fears about our family Fears about money Fears about growing old Fears about dying We may also have Spiritual fears Fear of spiritual failure Fear of falling into temptation Yet again Fears about the church What is the future Of the church Obviously there are Great uncertainties for us Here at Dumfries Free Church Perhaps that fear Plays on your mind Many of our brethren Around the world Have real fears About persecution And again With very good reason And we ourselves May have fears About the opposition That we may face [30:21] In the world How often have you Hesitated to say something Because you're afraid It's going to be taken The wrong way And you're going to Offend someone And you're going to Get into trouble The fear of man Taking over Your soul Greatest of all fears Of course Is the fear Of judgment Though for many That comes into My third category Of fears that people Don't have Because they're simply Not aware Of the danger But all of us Have our fears And this verse Therefore Speaks To our souls I want to Consider it tonight Under two very Simple headings The reality of fear And the remedy For fear And I want us to see [31:22] How the Lord Is the answer To all Of our fears And especially The fear of judgment First The reality Of fear When I am Afraid David writes Not if But when David writes From experience Because he was Often Afraid We may be Surprised At this David after all Was the Mighty warrior Who killed Goliath When everyone else Was afraid of him Even as a boy Looking after the flocks He had killed A lion and a bear This was a man Of great courage Yet at times Even he Was afraid Which perhaps Is a little Encouragement [32:22] To us We're not Alone If even David could Sometimes be Afraid Then it's Not unlikely That we will Be as well The background We're told Here is That he was A prisoner In Gath You read that In that Title at the Top According to 1 Samuel David Fled to Gath Twice During those Dark days When he was Fleeing from King Saul The first Occasion Was the one We read In 1 Samuel 21 Knowing that Saul was Intent on Killing him He had gone First to Ahithabel The priest And there He had Collected The sword Of Goliath And then He'd fled To Gath Not a very Clever choice You might think [33:23] Especially With the sword Of Goliath In his hand Goliath Came from Gath But David Felt safer In Gath Amongst The Philistines Than he Did In Israel Very Quickly Though he Discovered The danger He was In The servants Of King Achish Of Gath Began to Remind the King About the Songs They used To sing About David In Israel David Was popular In Israel He may Be a threat To the Philistines And David Then became Afraid Of King Achish What Might These Philistines Do to Him He was Effectively A prisoner Amongst Them And they Could do Terrible Things to Him If they Wanted And so [34:24] We're told He pretended To be Mad And then Escaped And went On to The cave Of Adullam He Actually Fled to Gath A second Time In 1 Samuel 27 But by That time He had 600 Warriors With him And Achish Treated Him Kindly Though Even Then The lords Of the Philistines Were Deeply Suspicious Of him But it Seems to Be that First Time That is Described Here In Psalm 56 David Was Afraid And With Good Reason What Could Flesh Do To Him Well Actually Quite A lot Think About Samson Amongst The Philistines In Gaza Having His Eyes Put Out And Being Forced To Grind At The Mill They Could Do Some Pretty Horrible Things To David If They Wished [35:24] David's Fear Was Real And It Was Justified The Bible Recognizes That Fear Is A Real Problem For Us That's Why God Says So Often Fear Not I Checked In The Concordance And The Word Fear Is Used 353 Times In The English Standard Version The Word Afraid Is Used A Further 167 Times Sometimes It's Used Of Fearing The Lord When It Means Reverence But Usually It Means The Fear Of Danger Adam Was Afraid When He Heard God's Voice In The Garden After He Had Sinned He Knew That Judgment Was Coming Jacob Was Afraid [36:25] When He Saw Esau Coming To Him With A Whole Army Of Men He Knew That Esau Hated Him Moses Was Afraid When He Realized That He Had Been Seen Killing That Egyptian He Knew The Penalty For That Was Death The Israelites Were Afraid To Go Into Canaan At First Because The People There Were Giants And So On All Through The Bible Even In 1 Samuel 21 Ahimelech The Priest Was Afraid When He Saw David Coming On His Own What Does This Mean What Does It Mean For Me What Danger Am I In And He Trembled When David Came Fear Is Real It May Often Be Just A Slight Nagging [37:25] Anxiety Nothing Too Serious Or It Might Be An Overwhelming Terror That Paralyses Us Completely But All Of Us Will Experience Fear From Time To Time So What Is The Answer Well Sometimes There Are Simple Practical Precautions That We Can Take Sometimes We May Be Able To Calm Ourselves Down But What If We Can't What If Those Practical Precautions Just Don't Seem To Be Sufficient What Then Well David Has The Answer Let's Look Now At The Remedy For Fear Whenever I Am Afraid I Will Put My Trust In You Trust In The Lord It's As Simple As That Faith Not [38:25] Fear What Does Does It Mean To Trust In The Lord Well It Means To Rely Upon Him To Keep Us Safe Or Else To Show Us How We Can Keep Ourselves Safe It Means To Rest In The Sovereign Hands Of God Casting All Your Care Upon Him Because He Cares For You That Doesn't Mean That We Do Nothing David Trusted In The Lord But He Still Took Precautions Escaping From Gath As Quickly As He Could And When He Got Back To Israel He Didn't Just March Boldly Into Saul's Palace I'm Trusting In The Lord I Don't Need To Be Afraid Of Saul He Kept Well Clear Of Saul He Went And Hid In The Cave Of Dullum He Took Sensible Precautions Against The Danger But [39:26] Underlying All Of This Was His Faith In God God Would Take Care Of Him So Long As He Did What God Directed Him He Would Be Okay Likewise Today We Take Sensible Practical Precautions Against Coronavirus We Follow The Government Guidelines As Best As We Can But Underlying This There Should Be Faith In The Lord We Shouldn't Be Reducing It All To A Matter Of What Does The Science Say We Should Be Rising Above That Yes Listen To The Science But Also Listen To God And Trust In God The Sovereign God The God Who Commands That Little Virus The God Who Is In Control Of Our Own Lives So [40:30] How Does The Lord Alleviate Our Fears Let Me Suggest Three Ways His Presence His Promise And His Protection First His Presence David Expresses That Beautifully In The 23rd Psalm Yea Though I Walk Through The Valley Of The Shadow Of Death I Will Fear No Evil For You Are With Me Your Rod And Staff They Comfort Me You Are With Me That's The Vital Thing That's The Thing That Lifts Him Above All His Fears God God God God Says God God Says in Isaiah 43 Fear not For I am With You Doesn't Really Need To Say Any More Than That If I'm With You What Need Do You Have To Fear Jesus Likewise Says I am With You Always [41:31] Even To The End Of The Age He Says That After Giving Us The Great Commission He's Sending His Disciples Out Into A Hostile World To Preach The Gospel And That's Pretty Scary But I Will Be With You He Says With You To Empower You And With You To Protect You A Small Child Feels Safe Simply In The Presence Of Its Father Or Mother Or Of An Older Brother Or Sister Because They'll Look After That Child So Likewise We Can Feel Safe If God Is With Us Or To Use A Rather Different Illustration Some Years Ago Our [42:31] Son In Law Roger Who Is A Pilot Invited Me To Go Flying With Him In A Small Plane From Lincoln To Manchester And As We Were Descending To The Airfield Roger Suddenly Shouted Out Over The Radio Bird Strike Bird Strike He Hit A Bird And That Apparently Is A Major Cause Of Air Crashes Suddenly Air Traffic Control Were Giving Him All Kinds Of Directions We Were Being Guided Down Onto The Runway And Emergency Vehicles Were Coming Out Just In Case I Can Honestly Say That I Didn't Have A Single Moment Of Fear In That Whole Experience And The Reason Was Quite Simply Because Roger Was Sitting Next To Me And [43:32] He's An Experienced Pilot And I Trust Him He Knows What To Do No Need To Fear At All And He Did Know What To Do We Landed Safely Which Is More Than You Could Say For The Bird If God Is With Us What Harm Can Come To Us He Knows What To Do He Will Take Care Of Us No Harm Can Come To Us Except What He In His Wisdom Might Allow To Happen And Usually He Won't Allow Anything To Happen Secondly His Promise God Has Made Numerous Promises In The Word To Look After Us Just a Couple Almost At Random Isaiah 54 17 [44:33] No Weapon That Is Formed Against You Shall Prosper Zechariah Zechariah 2 Verse 8 He Who Touches You Touches The Apple Of God's Eye God Is Watching Over His People Very Very Carefully And He Promises He Won't Allow Them To Come To Any Unnecessary Harm In The New Testament Jesus Says Fear Not Little Flock It Is The Father's Good Pleasure To Give You The Kingdom If We're Coming Into The Kingdom Then How Can Anything Destroy Us Before Hand We're Safe In His Hands Faith Always Relies Upon The Word Of God And That Perhaps Is Why David Goes On Here To Say In God Whose Word I [45:33] Praise In God I Trust This Wasn't Just A Vague Trust In God That He Had He Knew The Word Of God He Knew The Scriptures He Knew The Promises And He Was Resting On The Promises Of God We Too Should Reflect On The Word Of God Constantly Praise Him For It And Trust That He Will Do Whatever He Has Said Finally His Protection God Always Has Protected His People In The Past And He Always Will In The Future We We Could List So Many Examples Think Of Daniel In The Lion's Den Think Of The Three Young Men In The Burning Furnace Think Of The Disciples In The Boat With Jesus When The Storm Arose He Was Calmly Sleeping Because [46:33] He Knew That The Father Was Watching Over Them But When They Woke Him Up Terrified For Their Lives He Simply Calmed The Storm And Then He Rebuked Them Gently Where Is Your Faith Is God Not Perhaps Saying To Many Of Us At This Time Where Is Your Faith We All Have Examples In Our Own Lives Too I'm Sure How The Lord Has Protected Us In Times Past He Will Do In The Future As Well That's Not To Say That Nothing Bad Will Ever Happen To Us It Will But Only What The Lord Allows It's Not To Say That He Will Always Remove The Problem He Won't But He Will Bring Us Through Every Problem And He Will Give Us Peace In Our Hearts [47:33] If We're Trusting In Him We Will Have Peace In The Midst Of Every Kind Of Danger Jesus Says The Hairs Of Your Head Are All Numbered Nothing Can Happen To Us Against His Will For David This Was Enough With His Faith Fixed On God He Had Absolute Confidence I Shall Not Be Afraid He Says What Can Flesh Do To Me He Repeats That A Little Later In The Psalm Verses Nine To Eleven This I Know That God Is For Me In God Whose Word I Praise In God I Trust I Shall Not Be Afraid What Can Man Do To Me It's Almost Like That's Become A Little Mini [48:34] Psalm Within A Psalm That When He Is Afraid He Repeats Those Words To Himself Again And Again In God I Trust In God Whose Word I Praise I Trust I Shall Not Be Afraid What Can Man Do To Me You Have It Again In Psalm 118 The Lord Is On My Side I Will Not Fear What Can Man Do To Me That Is Quoted Again In Hebrews 13 As I Hope You Noticed In Our Reading This Morning The Lord Is My Helper I Will Not Fear What Can Man Do To Me David Still Goes On Praying He Prays That God Will Judge His Enemies In Verses 5 Through To 7 He Prays That God Will Remember His Sufferings In Verse 8 Put [49:35] My Tears In Your Bottle He Says Are They Not Written In Your Book Apparently It Was An Oriental Practice At Funerals To Keep The tears Of The Family In A Bottle By Way Of Remembrance That Maybe Is The Thought Here He He's Confident That God Has Heard His Cry God Will Hear Him God Will Deliver Him And Therefore He Promises In Verse 12 To Keep His Vows And To Give Thanks God Has Delivered Me He Says That I Might Walk Before God In The Light Of Life And Every True Christian Can Say The Same David Says In Psalm 34 I Sought The Lord And He Answered Me And Delivered Me From All My Fears But [50:37] I Can't Leave This Text Without Applying It To The Gospel I Mentioned Earlier That Fear Of Judgment Which We Ought To Feel And Yet So Few Do The Truth Is That We Are Sinners Before A Holy God And We Are In Terrible Danger The Day Of Judgment Is Getting Ever Closer Where Will You Stand In That Great Day Most People Never Even Ask The Question Drift Through Life Doing Their Own Will Completely Unprepared Completely Unaware Of The Danger Hanging Over Them Or Even Before That Day What If You [51:37] Were To Die Tonight How Could You Face God Or Even Before That God Can Quite Easily Send Judgment Even In This Life Who Is To Say That This Virus Is Not A Judgment From God Who Can Deliver You From That Fear Of Judgment Well There Is Nothing That You Can Do To Protect Yourself From That Fear No Masks No Vices No Hand Gel Nothing To Protect You From The Judgment Of God No Amount Of Good Works No Amount Of Religious Ritual Can Save You In That Day It's No Use Calming Ourselves Or Telling Ourselves It Isn't Really A Serious Problem It Is There Is Only One Answer And It Is David's Answer Trust [52:39] In The Lord It's A Paradox Isn't It That We Should Trust In God To Protect Us From God But That Is Exactly How It Is Because God And His Love Has Sent His Own Son For This Very Purpose To Die In Our Place For Our Sins So That We Might Live To Deliver Us From Judgment So That We Might Walk In The Light Of Life All He Asks Is That We Trust Him Whoever Calls On The Name Of The Lord Shall Be Saved May All Of Us Here Trust In The Lord And Be Delivered From Every [53:39] Kind Of Fear Amen We'll hear Together One Final Psalm And It Is That Beautiful Twenty Third Psalm The First Six Verses Of That Psalm The Lord Is My Shepherd The Lord Is My Shepherd No One Shall I Know He Makes me Lighthomme He Heaven um [54:41] He brings back to His grave His strength has so bright God has made me stay And this city has found His great name to His grave You are all in death's valley Where darkness is near Because You are with me No evil I fear Your eyes shall make me Come forth and cheer In the sight of my enemies The table You spread [55:44] The oil of rejoicing You've poured on my head My power flows And my preciously bread So surely Your covenant Mercy and grace Will follow me closely In all of my ways I will dwell in the hearts Of the Lord O my days Now may grace Mercy and peace From God the Father [56:45] God the Son And God the Holy Spirit Be with you all Now and always Amen Amen
