[0:00] Mark chapter 16, verse 17. And these signs shall follow them that believe.! In my name shall they cast out devils. [0:13] ! They shall speak with new tongues. They shall take up serpents. And if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them. They shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. [0:28] Amen. And I want to preach from this thought today. I know a name. I know a name. Amen. Pray with me today. Lord Jesus, I thank you for this day that you have made. [0:40] God, I bless your name in it. God, I give you glory today. I want your name to be magnified today, Lord Jesus. Let it be magnified in my life, God. From day to day as I go, Lord, I want your name to be proclaimed, God, in my actions, God, in my attitudes, God, through my faith in you, God. [0:58] I want to be a witness of your name, Jesus. Help us today understand this word, Lord. Help it get into our hearts. Let it be a blessing unto us today, God. Give us wisdom to understand it. [1:09] In Jesus' name, amen. Amen. You may be seated in the presence of the Lord. Amen. So, you know, the world today is full of every kind of opinion about what the ultimate purpose and meaning of life is. [1:24] It's one of life's greatest questions, isn't it? Like, what's the purpose? It's what's the ultimate purpose and meaning in this life. And so you may hear deep philosophical things like the purpose of life is achieving inner fulfillment. [1:40] They can go deep with these ideas and thoughts. Or you may hear materialistic things like the purpose in life is to accumulate wealth and pass it on down to the next generation, have this generational wealth, and that's our purpose. [1:53] Or you may hear simple things like the real purpose in life is just to have a good time or to just be a good person. So it could be simple. It could go deep. [2:05] Or you may just hear noble things that are hard to argue with, such as the purpose of life is just enjoying relationships and family and friends and things like that. [2:16] And there's many more. There's a multitude of them, and it goes on and on. And so the world has a lot of ideas and thoughts on what the ultimate purpose in life is. [2:27] And so, but interestingly enough, also, the Bible covers many of those same ideas and things and thoughts. Maybe not all of them, but many of them. [2:39] God wants you to have inner fulfillment. He really does. God wants you to be fulfilled internally. Amen. In your heart, in your spirit, in your mind. He wants you whole. [2:49] He wants you to be a good person. Amen. The principles in the Bible, it teaches us how to be good people. He wants us to be a good person. He wants us to be able to enjoy our relationships that we have with our family and friends. [3:04] He wants that. Family is important to God. He created the family in the beginning. And when you begin in Genesis, you're going to find a family, a plan of God's purpose for a family. [3:14] A family is God's plan for us. So, the world has all these different views. But the world's view on the Bible is that the Bible is radical. The world would say that what you find in this book is radical because the radical idea that the Bible presents us with is what truly matters is our relationship with God. [3:35] What truly matters in life, the ultimate purpose for us in this life is to be reconciled to God. Amen. And to have meaningful relationship with God. [3:46] That's the main ultimate purpose in life as it is laid out in this book. Amen. And to be in his kingdom. That's the ultimate goal in life. [3:57] That's the ultimate purpose in life is to be reconciled with God, have a meaningful relationship with God, and be in his kingdom. And the Bible teaches that if we get that right, the rest is going to fall into place. [4:08] Everything else will follow. The Bible teaches, seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you. See, we can successfully find that authentic reconciliation with God, that successful, authentic relationship with God. [4:28] If we can find that and be in the kingdom of God and put the kingdom of God first in our lives while we are alive here on this earth, the rest of all that other stuff is going to fall into place. [4:39] Because when our relationship with God is right, we get inner fulfillment. Because, see, that's what the world's looking for is something to fill that void that everybody has. [4:51] And it's meant to be a place for God. And so they try to fill it with all these other different things and have inner fulfillment in this and that and the other. But if we just put God in his rightful place, we'll get inner fulfillment. [5:03] If we get this thing with money, if we get this thing with God right and put God first, we get this thing with money and material things where it isn't important anymore. And we know that we're always going to get what we need. [5:16] We're always going to be provided with what we need because God's a provider. And when you get your relationship with God right, you can find peace in your relationships you have with family and others as well. [5:26] The Bible teaches us that when you dedicate yourself, when you dedicate yourself in your relationship to God, the Bible teaches us that it's possible that it will put strain on relationships with your family and friends. [5:41] Because if they don't believe like you, then that creates friction and it creates tension. But you can still find peace, amen, with God in those situations. But it is our relationship with God that is the key to all things that the world tries so hard to figure out. [5:59] The world spends all this energy and effort into trying to figure out what's the ultimate purpose in life. And we have it here before us today. And I'm thankful for that. Amen. It's our relationship with God that's the key to all things that the world tries so hard to figure out. [6:15] And we want to be a good person, but we can't make ourselves good enough to get to God. But when we get God, God can make us good. [6:25] Amen. You become a better person when you have a relationship with God. You begin to take on the nature of God. If you start applying the things of this book to your life, you take on the nature of God and you just become a better person. [6:40] So we get all these things that the world's looking for when we give our lives to God. And so how do we become reconciled to God? The Word of God gives us the only way we can be reconciled to God and have an authentic relationship with Him. [6:56] Amen. And that is to know who He is. We have to know who He is. The only way we can be reconciled to God is to have faith in Jesus and know who He is and to understand what it is to be saved. [7:12] Because salvation is through Jesus. Amen. Salvation is through Jesus. The atonement for our sins was through Jesus. That's how our sins were atoned for is through the work that Jesus did. [7:23] That God put on flesh and came and became a man and was willing to be sacrificed on the cross. That's the atonement for our sins. It was done through Jesus. And so reconciliation is also through Jesus. [7:39] Amen. And His claim, Jesus' claim of being Lord and Jesus overwhelmingly proving it throughout the Scripture over and over again, His Lordship. We know that Jesus Christ is Lord. [7:51] Amen. Amen. But we live in a world with a lot of different views on religion, a lot of different views on who God is. And so when we try to assert the truth that there is only one way of salvation, there's only one truth, and there's only one route to eternal life, and that it's going to cause a lot of people in the world to push back because there's so many different views even on religion and who God is. [8:20] But the Bible's oneness with one right way teaching doesn't go over well with the world view on things. And even other religious-minded people don't seem to accept this term so much. [8:34] But many would argue that the difference in all the various religious belief systems are so small that it's not really a big deal. We agree on most things. We agree on 90% of the things. [8:45] It's the 10% or the 80-20 rule, right? We agree on 80% of this. And so let's not fuss over the 20%. But every detail in the Bible is important. The fact remains. [8:57] The matter of fact is only Jesus is God. Amen. There's only one way to salvation, and Jesus said in John 14, verse 6, I am the way, the truth, and the life, and no man cometh unto the Father but by me. [9:10] And so you want to have a reconciled relationship with God. There's only one way, and that's through Jesus. Amen. Through the man Christ Jesus. Everything is through Jesus. And so true fulfillment, true provisions, the material things, true protection from things, true love and relationships, anything and everything we need can be found in Jesus. [9:33] We can find it in Jesus. But first and foremost, before anything else, we need a Savior. God is our Savior, and His name is Jesus. I know a name that is salvation. [9:44] Amen. In Acts 4, verse 12. Acts 4, verse 12. Amen. Neither is there salvation in any other, for there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. [9:57] Amen. There is a name given to us. I mean, we got a name today that is salvation. The name is salvation. There is a name given to us by which we must be saved, and that is the name of Jesus. [10:09] The name of Jesus. When we repent, and we're baptized in Jesus' name, and we get the Spirit of Christ in us, then we are reconciled to Him by the power that is in His name. [10:20] The name of Jesus. Amen. And when we have that name, we get everything we need, because Jesus is everything we need. He's our provider. He's our Savior. He's our healer. Jesus is our healer and Savior. [10:33] Amen. I know a name that brings healing and life, like we sang about. And that's the name of Jesus. Jesus, our Lord and Savior. [10:45] He's our Lord and Savior. He's a dynamic God. He's dynamic in His power. He's not just a one-dimensional healer. He's not just a one-dimensional healer. He is a multi-dimensional healer. [10:57] If you have a broken heart, He can heal your broken heart. Amen. Psalm 147.3, He healeth the broken in heart and bindeth up their wounds. If you have an illness in your body, He can heal your body. [11:09] Amen. Jesus will heal your infirmities. And God came as a man, and we know His name, Jesus. And He healed all that were sick when He came in contact with them. [11:20] Amen. I believe if Jesus was here today, He could heal any illness that's in this building, any infirmity that's in this building. I think He'd want to, and He would. But we struggle because we don't see Him physically. [11:33] He's here in spirit. And so it takes more faith, I guess, in a sense. But the same healing power is here. Jesus can heal even today. Amen. And so God came as a man, and we know His name as Jesus. [11:48] And He healed all the sick when He came in contact with them. And why? Because through His prophets, He said He would. All the way back in the Old Testament, He said He would. And so when He came, that's exactly what He did. [12:02] That's what God did through the man Christ Jesus. In Matthew 8, verse 16, When the evening was come, they brought unto Him many that were possessed with devils, and He cast out the spirits with His word, and healed all that were sick, that it might be fulfilled, which was spoken by Esaias, the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities and bare our sickness. [12:29] So right there, the Bible says, the reason why He came and He cast out devils and He healed is so that it would be fulfilled, which was spoken by the prophet, saying that He would. He would take care of our infirmities. [12:41] He would take care of our sicknesses. And so those acts of healing our illnesses and the act of healing our infirmities and our diseases and healing our sicknesses are all acts done as a physical witness, a physical witness to the fact that not only can He heal us physically, but He can heal our spirits too. [13:02] He can heal our souls. He can give us rest. He can give us salvation. Amen. He can be that inner fulfillment that we need. Jesus is in the healing and saving business, and I'm glad that I know His name. [13:15] Amen. You need a healing in your heart? Call on the name of Jesus. Amen. You need a healing in your body? Just call on the name of Jesus. You need salvation? You're going to find it through the name of Jesus. [13:26] Amen. We call upon the name of Jesus when we baptize. Amen. It's all in the name of Jesus. Isaiah 53 and 5, Isaiah 53 and 5, Amen. [13:45] Isaiah prophesied that God was going to be bruised for our sins, and by His stripes we would be healed. Not just to have the opportunity to be healed physically, but to be healed spiritually. [13:59] This is in the context of spirituality, and to have our sins taken away, to be our healer and Savior. Yes, He can heal us physically, but more important than ever, if I go through life lame, if I go through life crippled, if I go through life with some sort of disease, and I die of a disease, you know, that's a sad thing, but the main thing is I want to make sure that I'm saved. [14:22] I want to make sure that I have salvation, that I can make it to the other side. I can find eternal life with Him. Amen. So that's really the main goal and purpose that we have to have to be reconciled to God. [14:34] Amen. Not just the physical healing, but we need the spiritual healing, and that's what it's talking about, and that's what's available to us. Amen. And so in John chapter 10 and John chapter 14, nobody wanted to believe Jesus. [14:47] It describes that nobody wanted to believe Jesus, that He was the Savior, and so what did Jesus tell them? If you don't believe me, believe the works that I do. Amen. If you don't, in other words, I'm working miracles. [15:00] I'm doing all these miracles, signs and wonders of healing to prove to you who I am. To prove to you who I am. He was God, and only God could do what He was doing. [15:14] Only God could do what Jesus was doing. And so, you know, let me tell you, calling on the name of Jesus sparks miracles. It does. Whenever I've had a prayer answered, I've always ended my prayer in Jesus' name. [15:28] When you call upon the name of Jesus, He's going to answer us one way or the other, but when a miracle comes, it's going to be because we call upon the name of Jesus. Amen. The Bible says, for with God nothing shall be impossible. [15:40] Nothing's impossible. That's what a miracle is. It's something that's impossible, but it happened. I mean, we could, and it's in all the small details of life, you can find miracles. [15:51] There's situations that we're going through, amen, that we think it was just lucky. We think it was just, you know, we got by with one or whatever, but that was a miracle. [16:04] A miracle took place. Amen. God is a God of miracles. He's the God of the impossible. Just a situation that we're going through with custody. [16:16] I mean, there's been miracle after miracle just in that situation. Amen. So we thank God for that. And when you call on the name of Jesus, you're calling on God. That's who you're calling upon. We know that. [16:27] Nothing's impossible when you call on the name of Jesus. Amen. There are miracles waiting to happen. There's miracles waiting to happen. If we would learn to call on the name of Jesus, we would experience more miracles. [16:40] Amen. We, we, the first thing we do when we get a headache, do we call on the name of Jesus or do we go to the cabinet and get three ibuprofen? You know, I mean, we can take it as far as we want to go. [16:51] We, we, we have to get this mindset that we need to be able to call on the name of Jesus and expect that something can happen. Amen. How many, you think healing a headache is too hard for God? [17:03] Or maybe the reason why we don't ask is because we think it's too little for God. You know, it's just, it's just a headache. But you know what God, you know, I love it when my kids come and actually ask me for something. [17:14] If I have the means to give it to them, I'll give it to them. I will give it to them. And that makes me feel good as a father to be able to help them out, you know, and, and that, you know, and Taylor said, amen. [17:25] And, but you know, like, like when you, when, when you know your kid needs something and they're not willing to ask you for it, it gets a little frustrating sometimes, you know, it's like, just ask and I will give you what you need, you know, and I just get the feeling. [17:39] That's how God is. Sometimes, you know, we think we're just going to burden God with these things, but if we would just come to him, call upon his name, and man, he would be able to provide us what we need. And that's chapter three, Peter and John on their way to church to go pray to a prayer meeting, bumped into a lame man that was begging at the gate. [17:59] And this man was crippled. The Bible says from his birth, his whole life, he was crippled. And he's sitting there and he's asking for money. And then Peter said, silver and gold have I none, but such as I have, give I thee in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk. [18:15] And when he took him by the right hand and lifted him up and, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. And he leaping up stood and walked and entered into the temple, walking and leaping and praising God. [18:30] Amen. Peter and John had, they knew something. I didn't, he's, he's, he's lame. He needs, he thinks he wants money, but he has a different problem as well. [18:40] Like he needs to be healed and, you know, and so silver and gold, he's, they said, we don't have any silver and gold, but what we do have in the name of Jesus, rise and walk. [18:52] Amen. Which is, which is greater, which is greater. I'd rather be able to walk. Amen. Then to receive some money, that's just going to feed me for another meal or whatnot, but it was done in the name of Jesus. [19:03] It was done in the name of Jesus. And so basically what they're saying is we don't have, we don't have money to give you, but we do have the name of Jesus. Amen. And if that man knew what was coming, he, he would have been asking for that instead of alms or money. [19:20] Amen. We have the name of Jesus to be able to provide. Amen. Calling on Jesus name. It sparks miracles. It just sparks miracles. When you call on the name of Jesus, it sparks miracles. [19:31] Many countless times in my life. I've seen miracles. I've, I've been healed multiple times. I've seen miracles happen because we call upon the name of Jesus. [19:42] We call upon the name and I'm glad to know. I know a name. I'm glad I know the name of Jesus. I, a name like no other name. We know the name of Jesus. Amen. I know that, uh, I know a name that can bring healing. [19:57] Amen. I know a name that can bring freedom. I know a name that can bring salvation. I know a name that can bring miracles. I know a name that can empty a grave. [20:08] I know a name that can calm a storm. Amen. I know a name that when the name is called, the gates of health can fall and demons quiver and tremble at that name, at the mention of his name. [20:22] Amen. Amen. And I'm talking about the name of Jesus. I'm talking about the name of Jesus today. The name of Jesus brings hope. The name of Jesus brings hope. [20:32] I don't care what we go through in life. If someone knows the name of Jesus, if someone can just speak the name of Jesus and they just begin to call on the name of Jesus, all of a sudden the hope enters the room. [20:44] I don't care how hopeless it seems. I don't care what you're up against. I don't care how dire the situation is. If you just know how to call upon the name of Jesus, or if you know somebody that's near you and they call upon the name of Jesus, all of a sudden the hope just enters the room. [21:02] Amen. And what was a hopeless situation just became a miracle opportunity because someone knew the name of Jesus. They knew who to call. Amen. And they called on the name. [21:12] And just in that mention of his name, the atmosphere changes. Amen. And when that name is called and just at the mention of his name, miracles can happen. [21:23] It sparks miracles. Amen. All of a sudden what was hopeless is hopeless no more. In Jesus' name, it brings hope in a storm. Amen. How many times in the Bible do we read where the disciples are caught in the middle of a storm and Jesus calmed the storm? [21:39] How many examples do we need to know in our own lives? Hey, the storms of life are real. We go through storms every day. It seems like we're in a storm. If we get one lucky day where we don't feel like nothing happened, we're wondering what happened. [21:55] Something must be wrong because it was an easy day today. But doesn't that seem like what life is? It's just storm after storm all the time. If you haven't gone through a storm yet, you're not living yet. Amen. [22:05] As soon as life begins, there's trouble. Amen. There's storms. But no matter the storm that comes against me, I know a name. Amen. I know a name. I am going to call out into the darkness of my storm. [22:19] Amen. I'm going to call that name out. And that name is Jesus. And I know when I call out the name of Jesus, Jesus is going to show up in my dark storm. Amen. And say, peace, be still. [22:30] And the storm will obey whatever Jesus says. Amen. I know a name. I know a name. And I'm thankful that I know a name. Amen. That when the storms in my life come, I can call on that name of Jesus and silence the roaring waves. [22:45] And silence the wind. Amen. I don't serve a God that's outside of the storm. I would hate to serve a God that didn't go into the storm with you. I serve a God that's going to be in the storm with you. [22:57] Amen. He's going to be there walking upon the waves. He's going to be there walking upon the sea in the middle of the storm. Amen. He's right there in the middle of your storm with you. And he's just as far away as the mentioning of his name. [23:11] Amen. He's just as far away as the mentioning of his name. When you're in a storm, don't forget your anchor. Don't forget Jesus. Amen. Amen. Amen. And so I don't serve a God who lives outside of the storm, but a God that's in the storm with me when I call upon his name. [23:27] And so I don't have to be bound up in fear. And I have to be bound up in chains of anxiety because I know he's there at the mention of his name. He shows up. [23:38] He shows up. Amen. He's faithful. He's faithful and he'll show up when you call upon his name. Amen. If you haven't been walking right and you don't think God's going to answer to your call, then repent real quick and call on his name. [23:52] It's that simple. Amen. We got truth today. Amen. Amen. In this world we live, the sun rises on the evil and the good, the Bible says. But also the Bible says it rains on the just and the unjust. [24:05] Amen. It's just the world we live in. We're all going to experience the ups and downs of life. We're all going to experience it. But by faith I know that Jesus is more than enough. Amen. And I know the name. [24:16] And that's what matters. So I can live life knowing storms will come and not be chained up in fear of the storm because I know a name that will get me through my storm. [24:28] Amen. And break any chain of fear or anxiety or worry that I have. So if the storm causes fear, I know a name that can free me of that. I know I can be freed of it. [24:40] If the storm causes damage, I know a name that I can call on and get restoration from the damage. So we don't have to fear today. The name of Jesus, it breaks chains and it restores. [24:54] He is a chain breaker. I mean, we sing a song about that too. When we find ourselves in a prison of darkness and of fear, depressions, whatever it is, we have to let him get to work. [25:07] Amen. Amen. He'll break every chain that binds us. And, you know, when I made up my mind to live for God, I was bound by a lot of things. I had all kinds of trouble. [25:18] I still got troubles. God's still working on me. That was a song that we used to sing too. He's still working on me. But I was, you talk about depressions. You talk about anger and hatred. [25:33] When I was 15 years old, I was a mess. I would cut myself on purpose. I was, they call it cutting. I would, I got scars on my forearms. [25:44] I would take scissors and just cut myself just because I couldn't feel anything emotionally. I was in such a deep, dark place that I just wanted to feel something. [25:57] And I enjoyed just feeling the pain of that. That's dark. That reminds me of a story in the Bible when they came, Jesus came to this tomb area and there's a man that was cutting himself. [26:12] He was full of demons. That's a dark place. And probably I did have demons in me during that time. It was so dark. But God delivered me of that. [26:24] I made up my mind I wasn't leaving an altar until he got a hold of me. And I call on the name of Jesus and he met me at that altar and he delivered me from that. And I've never had a problem with that ever since I was 15 years old. [26:38] Amen. I thank God that I knew a name to call on that I could get deliverance from that darkness. Amen. And guess what? I'm free still today from that. I never had to go back to that. [26:49] Once I was freed from that, I was freed. Amen. And if I ever went back to that, that would be my choice. And, you know, sometimes we get ourselves in stuff that, you know, we start making bad decisions and we get going down the road further than we thought we would go. [27:04] And that's where sin does. It takes us further than we thought we would ever go. We thought we could play the, you know, play on the fence and have one foot in and one foot out and be okay and try to enjoy the pleasures of the world and still, you know, come around church and pretend and whatnot and try to get the benefits of both sides. [27:22] But sooner or later, you're going to fall off on the wrong side of the fence. And you always end up going further than you intended to go with the devil. Amen. And it will take you down to you didn't intend to go there, but you'll take you down to that place. [27:35] And once once it gets a grip on you and its talons sink into your flesh, it's hard to get loose. No matter even if you want to, you can you'll get to a point in your life where you can't get away if you wanted to. [27:48] You could try all you know how to do. And it's not going to happen. You don't have the power to do that. But if you call on the name of Jesus, amen, he's got all power and authority and he can loose you from that and he can free you from those things. [28:04] And then if you would dedicate your life to him, John 8 and 36 says, if the son therefore shall make you free, you shall be free indeed. Amen. God can deliver you from that. I've been delivered from darkness through the redemption and restoration of Jesus by calling upon his name. [28:20] And so there's all kinds of chains and all kinds of of prisons we can be bound up in. We can be bound up in sin. We can be bound up in a spirit of unforgiveness. [28:30] We can be bound up in guilt and shame for things that we've done in the past. Things that things that when we didn't we weren't committed to God and we did all these things in the past. Amen. [28:42] And we regret them now. We wish we didn't do those things. But you know what? We call at one point we call upon the name of Jesus and we changed our lives and we moved on in a different direction. [28:53] Amen. And God freed us from these things. And so we don't have to look back because when the son sets us free, we're free indeed. Amen. By the name of Jesus, we're free from those things. So we don't have to have guilt and shame. [29:05] We shouldn't have to live with that. And when that guilt and shame comes, we need to say, you know what, devil? You tried back then and you failed because God saved me. I'm here today. [29:15] Hey, look where I am today. You thought you had me. You thought I was. You know what? I'm just going to say there's been people in my life and my my closest family, people I love dearly that were so far out in the world of sin that I thought they would never be able to be saved. [29:33] That it would be impossible that they would be saved because of how far out they were. But amen. Today they're living for God. And I thank God for that. Amen. It's a miracle. [29:43] Amen. Amen. It's a miracle. And it's all thanks to the name of Jesus. Amen. Demonic oppression will flee. Amen. Doubt and unbelief will have to go. All these chains, all these things that we get bound by. [31:06] But one thing I know is there's a name that I can call upon. Amen. And when I do, he's going to hear me. And when he hears me, I know that everything is going to be okay. [31:16] And so I'm going to praise the name of Jesus. Amen. I will bless the Lord at all times. His praise shall continually be in my lips. Amen. And on my mouth. [31:27] His praises are always going to be on my mouth. His praises should be in my mouth. They should be in the way I live my life. The way I conduct myself. Amen. Jesus is worthy of the praise and glory forever. [31:40] Amen. Amen. Let's all stand. There is so much power in the name of Jesus. So much power in the name of Jesus. Amen.
