[0:00] Matthew 13, verse 58. Matthew speaking of Jesus. And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief. [0:13] ! Just one scripture. And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief. When I read that, it broke my heart. That Jesus wasn't able to do many mighty works there because of their unbelief. [0:31] And I don't want that to be my situation today. I don't want that to be any of our situation today. I want God to be able to do many mighty works in my life and in your life too. [0:42] Amen. Let's pray today. Lord Jesus, I thank you, God, for this word that you've given me. God, I pray it's a timely word that, Lord, would bless us, Lord, and give us the strength we need, the understanding we need, the wisdom we need to carry on, God, until you return. [0:57] God, I pray, Lord, that you anoint my lips to deliver your word. I pray, God, that you anoint our ears spiritually to hear your word today, Lord. Let it rest upon us today. [1:08] And you be glorified today. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen. Amen. And you may be seated. Because of the great number of voices and words that surround us on the daily, I want to begin today this message by giving you a true voice with words spoken to us by God. [1:32] Amen. Fear thou not, for I am with thee, the Lord said. Be not dismayed, for I am thy God. I will strengthen thee. [1:43] Yea, I will keep thee. I will help thee. Yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you an expected end. [1:57] And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them that are called according to his purpose. Amen. God said that. I mean, God said that. [2:09] Those are promises that we have, that we should fear not, for he is with us. Amen. Amen. God said that. Fear not, for he's with us. Be not dismayed, for I am God. [2:22] Amen. We don't have to be in fear. We don't have to be dismayed. We don't have to be confused. Amen. He will strengthen us, he said. He will help us, he said. Amen. Those are the words from God. [2:34] And I want those words of his to be established in my life. There are power in words. And so today I crave words, divine words. [2:46] Amen. I crave the words of our creator. I crave his word today. I want the word of God established in my life today because I know that there's power in established words. [3:01] I want God's words established in my life. I don't want someone else's words established in my life. I don't want my own words established in my life. I don't want anyone else's words established in my life. [3:12] But I want the word of God established in my life. And for just a little bit today, I want to talk about the power of established words. The power of established words. I want to share a few biblical principles with you today about words, especially surrounding the power of words that become established in our lives. [3:31] Believe it or not, words get established in our lives. The first thing we need to understand is how God operates. Okay. God operates a certain way and we need to understand how he operates and recognize that 10 times in the first chapter of Genesis, we find that God said and then something came into existence. [3:54] God said something and it came into existence just as God said it. The phrase and God said is repeated throughout what we call the creation account on the first pages of our Bible in Genesis. [4:08] And so we know, as it says in Hebrews 11 and 3, through faith, we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. [4:25] Amen. In other words, God looked at the void of nothingness. And spoke to the emptiness of something. And something happened when God speaks, even to nothingness, nothingness has to respond. [4:41] Even with nothing there, God spoke to the void and created something out of nothing. It was by the spoken word of God that the universe, as we know it, came into existence. The creation story in Genesis chapter 1 shows us that the ultimate power of God's spoken word. [4:56] Every time God speaks, his words bring something into existence. He speaks to the void and there is light. He speaks to the void and there's a firm in it. [5:08] He speaks to the void and there's a land and plants and animals. And then quite literally with the breath of his mouth, the Bible says he created us. Amen. And with the breath of his mouth, he blew life into us. [5:22] And in Psalm 33 and 6 says, by the word of the Lord were the heavens made. By the word of the Lord were the heavens made. And all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. [5:35] Amen. The spoken word of God is powerful. And when God speaks, it is established. Amen. In fact, not only did God create by speaking it all into existence, the Bible says that at the end, God will judge and destroy with his word. [5:55] 2 Thessalonians chapter 2 verse 8 says, And then shall that wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth. [6:06] Isaiah prophesied and said, God shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth. And with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. [6:17] And so we need to understand something today. We need whatever God speaks, whatever it is, it is established and it will come to pass just like he says that it will. [6:28] Amen. So there's power, creative power in the spoken word of God. The next thing that we need to understand today is that we are unique in all of God's spoken creation. [6:42] Amen. God created us different than any other creation that he created. Genesis 1 and 26 through 27. And God said, let us make man in our image after our likeness and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea. [6:58] And over the fowl of the air and over the cattle and over all the earth. Say over all the earth. And over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. [7:08] So God created man in his own image. In the image of God created he him. Male and female created he them. So we are created in the image and likeness of God. [7:21] We are a unique creation. There's none like us in all the earth. He created us different. And the most obvious thing that is different about us than the other creatures that he created. [7:35] And the most obvious thing that about us that is in the likeness and the image of God is that we like God speak words. We have language. Humanity. [7:45] Us. We are the earthly creation having the ability to speak and to communicate in a manner that's similar in likeness to God's creative process and power. [7:58] When he spoke the words and it became. Amen. Other creatures he created by God. They communicate but their ways of communication is very limited. [8:11] Ours we have the spoken word just like God. And so we created in the image and likeness of God. We are a reflection of God's complex thoughts. [8:22] And we reflect God's intentionality. We reflect God's creativity. We are created specifically to reflect God's image. We were created in the image of God. [8:34] God's words literally create and shape and form our reality. And so us and his likeness our words through well though not divine as his words are but our words carry a power to influence. [8:50] To create or to destroy within our realm. Within our realm of authority and our realm and dominion. Let us make man in our image after our likeness and let them have dominion. [9:02] So God created man in his own image. Dominion. Dominion over the fish of the sea. Dominion over the sea. Amen. Even the fish of lions reservoir. As we found out last week. [9:14] Because we had a couple of those guys on the plate. Dominion over the fowl of the air. Dominion over the cattle. But it says dominion over all the earth. [9:25] We have dominion. We were given dominion over all the earth. And so God gave us the ability to speak in the same manner he speaks. And gave us dominion over the earth. [9:35] And together those things create a powerful combination. God created animals of every kind. And what did he do? Genesis chapter 2 verse 19. [9:47] And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every fowl of the air. And brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them. And whatsoever Adam called every living creature. [9:58] That was the name thereof. That's right. Adam began to exercise that authority given to him by God. And when God would bring an animal by Adam. [10:10] Whatever Adam would speak. And call that animal. That is what it became known as. Amen. Our words have authority and creative potential. With the power to establish something. [10:22] Especially when what we say is aligned with faith. When it's aligned with God's will. Or when it's shared in agreement with others. [10:35] And it's that last one. The shared in agreement with others. That I want to talk about today. Because the next thing that we need to understand. Is that there is a biblical principle. [10:48] In both the New and Old Testament. In both the New and Old Testament. Moses said it. Jesus said it. Paul said it at least three times. [10:59] We're not going to read them all. But the principles are found in Deuteronomy 19. Matthew 18. 2 Corinthians 13. 1 Timothy 5. And Hebrews 10. And the biblical principle is this. [11:13] That in the mouth of two or three witnesses. Let every word be established. That's what it says. In the mouth of two or three witnesses. Let every word be established. [11:25] Say it with me. In the mouth of two or three witnesses. Let every word be established. And in the Bible. In the context. [11:35] This is found in the context of law. It's found in the context of church discipline. How to organize and run the church. It's found in the context of apostolic authority. [11:46] In the New Testament. And it's a biblical principle. That we need to understand. Because it is a powerful principle. That we don't hear often. And we don't really understand. But having the understanding. [11:58] That the spoken word of God. Is powerful. And because we. Are created in the likeness of God. And unique. Uniquely like God. We have the ability to speak with spoken words. [12:09] And because we have dominion over the earth. There's great power in our words. And there is this scary principle in the Bible. That teaches us that. And in the mouth of two or three witnesses. [12:21] Let every word be established. And why do I call that a scary principle? It's because it says. Let every word be established. In the mouth of two or three witnesses. [12:33] Let every word be established. Meaning it can be for good. Or it can be for evil. But if I say it. And you repeat it. It has great potential. [12:45] To become established. In our lives. Be it good. Or be it bad. Whether it's true. Whether it's a lie. It doesn't matter. [12:56] Every word. Would be established. In the mouth of two or three witnesses. So we should be careful. About what we say. And what we repeat. Amen. Because our words. [13:07] Those carry real power. To influence. Outcomes. Whether they're for good. Or for bad. When words are spoken. And repeated by others. They gain. [13:18] This form of spiritual. And practical establishment. Which potentially. Can shape our reality. What's spoken from our mouths. [13:29] Can literally shape. And form. And morph. Into. Our reality. And circumstances. That we would have to face. And live. When words are spoken. [13:41] And repeated by others. They. They gain. That. Potential. And so. What you say. And I repeat. Can become established. In our lives. Whether for good. Or for evil. [13:51] Proverbs 18 and 21. Says. Death and life. Are in the power. Of the tongue. And they that love it. Shall eat the fruit thereof. Death is in the power. Of the tongue. [14:02] And life is in the power. Of the tongue. Amen. James 3. 5 and 6. Says. Even so. The tongue is a little member. It boasteth great things. [14:13] Behold. How great a matter. A little fire. Kindleth. And the tongue. Is a fire. A world. Of iniquity. So is the tongue. Among our members. That it. [14:24] Defileth the whole body. And seeth on fire. The course of nature. And is set on fire. Of hell. That's James 3. 5 through 6. Matthew 12. [14:36] And 36. But I say unto you. That every idle word. This is Jesus speaking. That every idle word. That men shall speak. They shall give account. Thereof. [14:47] In the day of judgment. For by. Thy words. So by your words. You. Thou shalt be justified. And by thy words. Thou shalt be condemned. [14:57] Our words. Are powerful. To the point. That we will be judged. And we will be justified. Or condemned. By the words. [15:08] That we speak. When you speak something. And another. Affirms. It. You get. The biblical principle. That in the mouth. Of two or three witnesses. [15:18] Every word. Will be established. And the bible. Is consistent. Old testament. To new testament. That words. Have the ability. To influence. Our reality. [15:30] And when you speak something. Whether a blessing. Or a curse. Or encouragement. Or any other kind of declaration. Because of our likeness. [15:41] And creation. To God. It carries. That creative power. And potential. To shape. Emotions. To shape. Our relationships. Even to shape. [15:51] Our circumstances. Of life. Life. Especially. When spoken. With faith. Or intent. When we really believe. What we say. And someone repeats it. [16:03] Or we hear something. And we repeat it. It has the potential. To take shape. And form. In our lives. And become actual circumstances. Mark 11. [16:13] 23 says. For verily I say unto you. That whosoever shall say unto this mountain. Is Jesus speaking. Be thou removed. And be thou cast into the sea. [16:24] And shall not doubt in his heart. But shall believe. That those things which he saith. Shall come to pass. He shall have whatsoever he saith. And then. When you add that amplification. [16:37] Of our words. With the words of another. Repeating them. It will be established. When another person repeats your words. Or you repeat their words. [16:49] It forms a witnessing. Or an affirming. The original thing that was said. Giving it even greater weight. Jesus said in Matthew 18. [17:00] If two of you shall agree on earth. As touching anything. That they shall ask. It shall be done for them. For there. Where two or three are gathered together. [17:11] In my name. There am I in the midst of them. So especially among disciples of Jesus Christ. Especially among us. Men and women of the name of Jesus. [17:23] Agreement among us. And our spoken words. Carries a spiritual authority. Amplifying the power of our words. To affect our reality. [17:35] So the final thing we need to understand. Is we need to be careful what we say. And what we repeat. It may not be ill intended. It may not be malicious. [17:46] But it may just be a casual conversation. And someone utters some words. And without thought. Those words are repeated by us. But now those words have the potential to morph. [18:00] From just words. But into a reality that we'll have to live out in our lives. And face. And so we have to understand this principle. That we are to be careful what we are ready to repeat. [18:13] There is power in the spoken word. And they will have the potential to shape our reality. There have been a few times since I started. Down this road. Of church planting. [18:26] And ministry in general. That I have been told. That what I am doing for the Lord. Is nonsense. [18:38] And I have been told a few times. You know. That what I am doing is nonsense. And. A couple of times I have nearly repeated it. [18:49] Myself. And has. Come very close to being. Established. That. The work that I am doing for the Lord. [19:03] Is nonsense. But every time. Words like that have been spoken to me. Without fail. Without fail. Every time. Jose. [19:14] Literally within 24 hours. I get a random phone call. From. A fellow. Pastor. [19:25] Or preacher. One. I. Or a meet. I meet with someone I have never met before. Randomly. Some random circumstance. That's. He's a. They're a pastor or a preacher. [19:36] And within 24 hours. It seems like. Somebody's. On the phone. Or in my face. Telling me. I felt the call you. Or. [19:47] Whatever it is. And they tell me. Don't give up. You're in the will of God. You're doing the work of the Lord. Amen. But. Just as the scripture has said. [19:58] There's power. And death. And. Life and death. In our tongues. So we have to be careful. Of the things that we say. And the things that we repeat. We can be told something. [20:10] And. Believe it. And. Say it. Back. And it. It can become reality. In our lives. Amen. I mentioned it a couple weeks ago. If you recall. [20:21] The 12 spies. Israel sent to. The promised land. To spy it out. And report back. What they saw. Moses sent 12 spies. One from each of the. 12 tribes of Israel. [20:32] To explore the land of Canaan. The promised land. After 40 days. They returned. Confirming the land's abundance. But reporting. That. That its inhabitants. Inhabitants were strong. And its cities. [20:43] Were fortified. Ten of their men. Gave. What the bible calls. An evil report. The bible says. And. And they spoke. Words of fear. And words of doubt. [20:54] Claiming that. The people were too powerful. To conquer. Which. Caused the Israelites. To fear and doubt. And. And. And. The other two men. [21:05] Joshua and Caleb. They trusted in God's promises. What God's word was. Had already. They. It was established in their lives. Apparently not the other ten. [21:16] And they tried to persuade. The people to have faith. And. And to go and take the promised land. But their words. Were overshadowed. By the majority's fear. [21:27] And so what happened. The result was. Of that evil report. Which was. Just ten. Guys. Talking. And other people. [21:38] Repeating. And it led Israel. Into a rebellion. And those results. Were that all the Israelites. Would have to wander around. In the desert. For forty years. Until a whole generation. [21:49] Died. Off. In the middle of the desert. It was all because. Ten men. [21:59] With doubt. Out. In fear. In fear. Came back to the camp. And started talking. And then it was repeated. And then it was established. And what could have been. A great opportunity. [22:10] For them. To enter into the promised land. It became a great tragedy. For them. That whole generation. Would have to die. In the wilderness. In the desert. Before. They could go. And cross the Jordan. [22:21] Into their promised land. All because. Of the power. In the established word. They established. That word. For them. In the mouth. Of two or three witnesses. Let every word. [22:31] Be established. Every word. For good. Or for evil. Jesus was going. From town to town. Healing everyone. Of. The bible says. Of all manner. Of sickness. And disease. [22:42] The lame. Were being healed. The lame. Were walking. The dead. He was raising the dead. On multiple occasions. He. They thought they were dead. [22:53] And he would. Bring them to life. Healing death. The deaf could hear. The blind could see. Everywhere Jesus went. From town to town. Healing after healing. [23:04] After healing. In many places. He says. And he healed them all. But then. In Mark 6. 1 through 6. Speaking of Jesus. [23:15] And he went out. From thence. And came into his own country. And his disciples. Followed him. And when the Sabbath day was come. He began to teach. In the synagogue. [23:27] And many hearing him. Were astonished. Saying. From whence hath this man. These things. And what wisdom is. This which is given unto him. That even such mighty works. [23:39] Are wrought by his hands. So they start questioning. Verse 3. Is not this the carpenter. The son of Mary. The brother of James. [23:50] And Hoseas. And of Judah. And of Simon. And not his sisters here with us. And they were offended by him. The Bible says. They were offended at him. [24:01] Verse 4. But Jesus said unto them. A prophet is not without honor. But in his own country. And among his own kin. In his own house. In verse 5. [24:12] And he could there. Do no mighty work. Save that he laid his hands. Upon a few sick folk. And healed them. Verse 6. And he marveled. Because of their unbelief. And he went. [24:24] Round about the villages. Teaching. Jesus was going around. From city to city. Healing every manner of disease. Raising people from the dead. [24:35] And then he stops in his hometown. And he begins to teach there. And all of a sudden. People start talking. Just a bunch of nosy people. [24:48] Sitting around gossiping. And what do they say? They begin to say. Isn't that. Isn't that the carpenter? Isn't that. Isn't Mary his mother? [25:01] Isn't. Don't we know his brothers and sisters? Who is he? Who is he? To act like God. And so because they gossip. And they naysay. And speak evil things. [25:11] They begin to voice their doubt. And their unbelief. To each other. And those words were spoken. And then repeated. And then it became established. [25:21] In their lives. And they're sick. Had to remain sick. They're deaf. Couldn't hear. They're blind. Still can't see. They're dead. [25:33] Would have to remain in their graves. Due to their unbelief. He did not many. Many mighty works there. As we read in the beginning. What can we learn? We're. You know. Hopefully we can learn something from all this. [25:45] If we. If we want the. The work of the Lord to be done in our lives. We should stay away. And not associate with naysayers and gossipers. I want the word of the Lord established in my life. [25:58] Amen. If you want the word of the Lord established in your life. Why don't you stand today. And everyone else. Let's stand as well. Hopefully you want the word of the Lord established in your life. [26:09] There's power in established words. I want the word of the Lord established in my life. Whether. It's whether for good or for evil. Whether it's true or not. [26:19] It doesn't matter. Whether. Our words have the potential to become. Our circumstances. And I wonder. I wonder how many of us are living. [26:31] Beneath our means. Because of the words that we say. And the words that are repeated. When I say beneath our means. I mean. For what God has for us. Where God wants us to be. [26:44] And so Ephesians 4 29 says. Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth. But that which is good to the use of edifying. That means building up. Edifying. That it may minister grace unto the hearers. [26:57] And Colossians 4 and 6. Let your speech be always with grace. A disciple of Jesus Christ. Should speak life. [27:09] Speak truth. Speak. Encouraging. Challenging one another. Edifying. Building each other up. The Bible says iron sharpens iron. Right. [27:19] We should challenge each other to be our best. For God. We shouldn't tear down. One another behind. Each other's backs. To someone else. [27:29] We shouldn't be a part of gossiping. James 4 and 11 says. Speak. Not evil one of another. Instead of gossip. We're to speak and repeat words. [27:40] That edify and build up. Not to tear down. Not to speak words that. You know. If repeated. Could be established. [27:51] And it's an evil thing. Or a negative thing. We should speak words that. Align with God's purposes. And reflect God as. As creatures created in his image. [28:03] Not only that. But we should want God's word. And promises. Established. In our lives. And so. We should claim some things. And speak some things. [28:14] That aren't. As though they are. I want to be able to. Work. I want. I want God. To be able to work. And do. Many miracles. [28:25] In my life. I want to see miracles. Happen in this city. I want to see miracles. Happen in my family. Financial. Miracles. Healings. [28:36] There's. I have family members. That needs healing. I have family members. That need. Financial. Miracles. I have. Every kind of miracle. You can think of. I have. That in my life. [28:46] That's needed. I don't know about you. I want God. To be able to do. Many mighty works. In our lives. And so. I'm going to speak truth. [28:57] And I. I wonder if I can get a witness. Today that. You'll help me. Establish some things. Today. Before we leave. Let's start speaking. Some edifying words. [29:09] I mean. Even right now. Let's establish. Some things. I mean. Before we leave here today. Let's. Let's speak. Things into existence. Let's speak some. Some. [29:20] God things. Into. Our realities. And into our circumstances. Amen. Let's. Let's find a place. To pray. And let's. Call out. The name of the Lord. [29:30] Let's start speaking. Some things. Amen. Amen. Let's speak. Some things.
