[0:00] Thank you for tuning into this message by David Entry. Every true revival is a product of the strong preaching of God's Word. May you receive a word from this message that will spark a revival in you. [0:14] Acts chapter 2, reading right from verse 22 to 36, it says that, Ye men of Israel, hear these words, Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God amongst you by miracles and wonders and signs which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves know. [0:32] Him being delivered by the determinate counsel and the foreknowledge of God, ye have taken and by wicked hands have crucified and slain, whom God has raised up, having loosed the pains of death because it was not possible that he should be holding of it. [0:53] For David spoke concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for it is on my right hand that I should not be moved. Therefore did my heart rejoice and my tongue was glad. [1:07] Moreover also, my flesh shall rest in hope. Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine holy one to seek corruption. [1:19] Thou hast made known to me the ways of life. Thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance. Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulcher is with us unto this day. [1:39] Therefore, being a prophet and knowing that God has sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his lois, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne. [1:53] He, seeing this before, speak of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did seek corruption. [2:06] Thus Jesus has God raised up whereof we all are witnesses. Therefore, being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has shed for this which ye now see and hear. [2:23] For David did not ascend to the heavens, but said himself, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand until I make thy any with thy footstool. [2:35] Therefore, let all the house of Israel know assurably that God has made the same Jesus whom ye crucified, both Lord and Christ. [2:47] Here ends the reading of God's word. Shall we please pray? Father, as we have gathered together to hear your word, I submit myself under the cross. I ask for an oil to come from above. [2:58] Let a sound come from above. Let it sound through my voice as I speak. Let us hear what natural men can hear, which is of God. [3:10] I pray that God guide me as I teach your word. Let nothing be in my mouth but your word. I pray that step aside my human frailty and pour your oil through me. [3:23] And speak into situations. Speak into nations. Speak into communities. Speak into families. Speak into conditions. That your power will be demonstrated to your glory. [3:36] Thank you that sicknesses are being healed. Thank you that confusion is being cleared. Thank you that sin is being convicted. Thank you that people are receiving strength to overcome sin and temptation. [3:47] Thank you that Christ is being revealed and the church is marching forward strongly. We thank you that you build your church and the gates of hell. shall not be able to prevail against the church. [3:59] Thank you Lord. Thank you. In Jesus name. Amen. Please be seated. Somebody say hallelujah. Hallelujah. We have been talking about Acts chapter 2. [4:13] The preaching of Peter. The preaching of Peter. And in the previous session I spoke about every sound preaching or pure gospel must or let me put it this way. [4:26] The kerygma. You remember kerygma. The kerygma. The declaration. Is the announcement. There's a difference between an announcement and teaching. [4:37] The gospel is an announcement. Declaring forth. The pure gospel must have some contents. It must be based on the fact that Jesus was a natural human being. He lived a natural life. [4:48] And even though he was fully God and man. Two. He died on the cross. Three. He resurrected from the dead. And four. He's seated in majesty or seated in session. [4:59] The pure gospel must not miss any of these elements. Or must not miss this element. Very important. And we could see that in the first message preached by the church. [5:11] When the church was born. It contained. The kerygma contained all these. The natural life of Jesus. So in verse 22. It talks about Jesus Christ. A man. [5:21] Okay. Very important. Jesus of Nazareth. A man. So he started the fact that he's a man. That's so important to Christian doctrine. He's a man. Approved of God. Meaning that God was manifesting through him. [5:33] He was pointing more to his deity at the same time. A man and God. And then he says that they crucified him. But he says that. You see. When you study the text very carefully. [5:44] Or the preaching of Peter. You saw. He always talk about what you did to Jesus. And what God did to him. So here. He spoke about how. By the determined counsel. [5:54] And the foreknowledge of God. You by lawless. I like that bit. By lawless. Have crucified. And. He says that you did it. By the verse 24. He said. [6:05] By God raised him. And when you read chapter. Three of Acts. Verse. I think 14. He spoke about how you denied Jesus. You betrayed him. You people. You. He said. [6:15] But you denied the holy one. And the just. And asked for a measure to be granted to you. Can you imagine? Human nature. It's human nature. Any of us at all. [6:25] Can veer off. Is human. Any of us at all. Can veer off. If you don't wash. You'll veer off. If you don't eat. [6:36] Your health. Veer off. Human nature. Is just like that. So that's why. We always have to put in systems. Even in our spiritual life. You have to put in systems. Never think that's when you are so. [6:49] Finished. That does it. No. That's why it says that. If anyone is taken by a fault. Those of you who are spiritual. Galatians chapter 6 verse 1. If it said. If anyone. So that means anyone. [7:00] Can be a Christian. And be taken by a fault. Some of you. I know you've been taken by a fault. Even in church. The way you are thinking about somebody. You don't like this girl. You have been taken by a fault. So it says that. [7:12] If anyone is taken by a fault. Spiritual people must restore those who are taken by a fault. And he said. Consider yourself. You the spiritual one. Hey. He said. Considering yourself. [7:23] So it's important to know that being human. We have the propensity to be of. So. He said. You crucified Jesus. You betrayed. You denied him. Use the word denied. Very serious. [7:34] Denied. In Acts chapter 7. Verse I think 52 or so. Stephen tells them that. You became the betrayers and the murderers of Jesus. Wow. He said. You have become the betrayers and the murderers. [7:47] In Acts chapter 3. What we just saw. He said. That you denied the holy and just one. Wow. And watch this. And ask for a medra. To be granted you. Wow. [7:58] To you. And then the next verse. Verse 15. Says that. And killed the prince of life. Whom God. So you see. You did. But God also did. Let your enemies do what they can do. [8:09] But God. If God is with you. If God with you. Tell somebody. God is with you. God is with you. If God be with us. Then he will always show up. It doesn't matter what others do. And you can see. [8:20] There is. A pattern in their preaching. From Acts chapter 1. To chapter 12. The dominant voice was Peter. From chapter 13. To the end. The dominant voice was Apostle Paul. [8:33] So it is necessary to see. Whether Apostle Paul also continued. In that same line. Did he continue the tradition? Oh yes. But Peter in chapter 10. [8:44] Verse 38 and 39. When he went to the. Called Peter. When he went to Cornelius house. He said Jesus Christ. How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth. Anytime you see Jesus of Nazareth. It's pointing to. [8:54] A physical human being. Of history. Who lived. And walked on the earth. Jesus Christ. Of now God anointed Jesus of Nazareth. Holy Ghost and power. And did all that. Verse 39 says that. [9:06] And we are witnesses of these things. Which he did. Both in the land of the Jews. And in Jerusalem. Whom they killed and hung. See. They did something. Look at the next verse. [9:16] This is Peter talking. The next verse. Verse 40. God raised. They always talk about. What men did to Jesus. And what God did to. About Jesus. Humanity. So. Then Paul comes. [9:28] On the scene. And he was preaching. In Acts chapter 13. He spoke about Jesus Christ. From verse. 38. 39. Somewhere there. He spoke about how. They still killed him. [9:39] But God raised him. They still killed him. But God raised him. So you could realize that. It was dominant. In the message of the apostles. What men did to Jesus. And what God did to Jesus. [9:50] Why did they kill him? Because they said. He is a false witness. God said. I will raise him to prove that. You are wrong. He actually is a true witness. They killed him. They said. He said. He's the son of God. [10:01] So let's kill him. And God said. I will raise him. To prove that. To you. That he's the son of God. But the Christian gospel. Doesn't only end. At the resurrection of Jesus. It goes farther. Than the resurrection. [10:11] But the resurrection. Is a major theme. In Christian teaching. So. I realized that. Much of my Christian life. I have been taught. [10:22] And I've had the privilege. Of sitting. Under the feet. Of anointed. Great teachers. But much of my Christian life. I realized that. The journey of Christ. Has always ended on the cross. The full gospel. [10:34] That has been preached. Is always just. The resurrection. And he went to heaven. And so. He's in heaven. He's coming back. He's coming back. But he's in heaven. Not relaxing. Jesus is not relaxing. [10:46] In heaven. He actually went to heaven. To go and work. So. We are here. Because Jesus is working. So. Much. Of the gospel. [10:57] Is not only history. The gospel. Even though it's history. That Jesus lived. And died. And all that. The gospel. Is about the. Person. The person. And the works of Jesus. [11:08] So. Even when it comes to his works. There's the history part. And there's a current part. Jesus is still working. Why is he working? He's working in the church. So he's not seated in heaven. [11:20] And sipping tea. He's seated in heaven. And living his life. By the Holy Ghost. Through the church. Because he said. I will build my church. So if the church is still here. [11:31] And the church is growing. Then the builder is working. Instead of building. No man can build a church. But Christ. Christ is the only one. [11:41] Who can build the church. Because. Once upon a time. There was a man. Called David. The king. David. The king. Loved God. The Bible says that. [11:52] When he has removed Saul. He put David there. Acts chapter 13. Verse 32. He dethroned. Deposed. He actually overthrew. [12:03] The Bible used the word. He overthrew Saul. And then. When he removed him. One of the translations. He overthrew. But when he removed him. He raised up for them. The Jews. [12:14] David as king. To whom also. God gave. A testimony about David. And God said. I have found David. The son of Jesse. A man after my own heart. The last bit. [12:25] Who will do. All my will. David loved God so much. It got to a time. The Bible says that. He found favor with God. And requested something of God. [12:36] He said. I have. A request. To make. God I love you. I want to put in a request. And he put in the request. He sent an email. He filled the form. [12:48] And put in a request. Requisition form. And put in a request. In Acts chapter 7. Acts chapter 7. From verse. 42. Potentially. Somewhere in 42. [12:58] Alright. I think 46 is better. The Bible says that. David found. Verse 45. So that we can. Look at it within the context. Which are fathers. Talking. Which are fathers. Having received. Talking on the commandment. [13:10] In turn. And also. Brought with Joshua. Into the land. Possessed by the Gentiles. Whom God drove out. Before the face of our fathers. Until the days of David. [13:21] So when David came. He said. Saul was not mentioned. He didn't even overthrow him. But he just said. Until the days of David. Now. What happened. Look at verse 46. David found favor. Before God. [13:31] And made a request. He found favor. Before God. And he said. God. I have a request. Can I find a dwelling. For the God of Jacob. In other words. I want to build. [13:42] A house for God. That's the request. David made. You see. That text. I read. About. Chapter. Acts chapter 13. Verse 22. That God said. David will do all my will. [13:53] And David. In 2 Samuel chapter 7. Requested. That he said. That look. Look at where I live. Look at the condition. Of my house. I live in a palace. Of cedar. I live in a palace. [14:04] Of cedar. A house of cedar. And he said. But look at the ark. Of the Lord. It dwells in tents. How can God's presence. Among us. Be housed by tents. [14:16] And me. A simple king. Whom he picked me from. Following sheep. And leaving. He said no. That means. By inference. He says that God doesn't have a house. He has only tents. So I want to build God a house. [14:27] So David. David. He desired to build God. That's what Stephen was saying. That he found favor before God. He said God. I want to build your house. But God said David. You can't. Because since I brought out the Israelites. [14:37] My people from Egypt. And I raised leaders and judges. I've never said to any of them. Why haven't you built me a house. Because I know. To build God a house. A man cannot do it. I know to build God a house. [14:49] Meanwhile. Look. Listen to this. Brothers and sisters. This is one of my favorite messages. And I don't think. I'll go off for it. Ever. If you listen to me more. You'll hear. I'll always talk about the house of God. Now watch this. One of the reasons. [15:00] Why God created man on earth. Is not so that you'll be happy. Wow. Wow. Modern day. Narcissistic philosophy. [15:11] That has invaded the church. You think you are in church. So God can make you happy. Wrong gospel. But who are you? That his existence is just to make you happy. [15:24] He's not a comedian. Making you happy. No. You are getting it wrong. God is not God. So he can make him happy. [15:37] Then why would he create you? So we should rather ask the question. But why did you create me? And that means that. The one who created you. Must have an agenda for your creation. [15:48] It's not you. He's creating you. So that you can have an agenda. For what he should do for you. Even marrying somebody. You marry the person for your personal reasons. Not for their. Oh yes. [16:01] Oh sister. Don't believe him. That said. It's because everything is about you. I'll do anything. No, no. It's because he hasn't found anyone. Who meets his needs like you. Or if he's found anyone. [16:14] They don't meet you like you. It's the same. Man cannot be for God. David found favor. He said can I be for you. God said it's not in the realm of human beings. This is very important. [16:24] What I'm sharing now at this point. It's not in the realm of human beings to build for God. Or build God's house. Think about it. How can you build a house that can accommodate God? [16:36] You. How? Let's think about it. How? Where? On the sea? On land? Where? How can you build? Because then watch this. [16:46] Two things I want to say then move on. The reason why God created us is so we will be his habitation. Now that's very important. He created us so he will inhabit us. [16:59] But before he could say Jack. We went to eat the fruit we shouldn't eat. And the nature of the devil inhabited us. So up to now. The nature of the devil took over humanity. The flesh of human beings. [17:10] That's why the Bible says that Christ came so he can destroy. He who has the power of death. Who is the devil. He can destroy the works of the devil. 1 John chapter 3. I think verse 8 and 9 somewhere there. [17:21] He came to destroy the works of the devil. That's why it was manifested. So then when Christ comes into us now. That thing doesn't have control over us again. Even though if you are not walking in the spirit. [17:32] The flesh will disappoint you. So God created us to inhabit us. This is so important. When you study the scriptures very carefully. When the new Jerusalem and heaven and earth is redone. [17:44] You will see that it's people who God inhabits. There will not be a temple in it. The Bible says I saw the new Jerusalem. There is no temple in it. There is no light. There is no sun. Because God is the sun. [17:55] And it says that I saw the new Jerusalem coming down from heaven. Prepared from. And it spoke about how there is no temple in it. There is no sun in it. Why don't we need a temple? Because we are the habitation of God. [18:08] It says in Revelation chapter 21. Verse 3 says that. And I heard a laugh. Behold the tabernacle of God is with man. And he will dwell with them. And they shall be his people. God himself will be with them. And be their God. [18:20] He is dwelling with them. The tabernacle is forever. That is how everything is going to end. And that is how God meant for things to be. Now this is very important. Then David. Watch this. [18:30] Then David. Jacob was the first person in the Bible. Who mentioned the house of God. Because after the Abrahamic blessing came upon him. He ran away from home because of his brother. [18:42] And he slept in a place called Luz. Genesis chapter 28. And he had a dream. He took a stone to sleep. He had a dream. He saw heaven angels. And then when he woke up. [18:52] He said something profound. Verse 16. He said God was here. I did not know. Wow. Look at verse 17. He was afraid. And he said this is not. That's the first time we see that phrase in the scripture. [19:05] The house. You want to say God has got a house? On earth? I mean what does that mean for us to have a house of God? House of God. Is it where God lives? [19:17] What does that mean? We saw Abraham built tents. He never built a house. Now in order not to belabor at this point. He said this is the house of Jacob. Jacob was the first person who said. And so he attempted to build. [19:28] So the stone he used as a pillow. He turned into a pillar. And then erected it and poured oil in it. Because he said this is called Bethel. The house of God. So Jacob was the first person to attempt to build. [19:40] Or something. Have a representation of God's house on earth. That is why when God showed up to Moses. He didn't meet Moses in his house. Because at that time he was homeless. He was hiding in the bush. [19:53] Bible says in Deuteronomy chapter 33. Him that dwelleth in the bush. God who dwelleth. He met Moses out of the bush. And he said go and bring my people. Because I want the people among whom I can dwell. [20:06] This is very important. But the Israel. Physical Israel. Was the preparation of the actual dwelling place of God. Now. So David. When he had favor with God. [20:16] I don't know who taught him. It must be his heart. David said. God. Can I build you a house? Then God said to Nathan. Go and tell David. Why did. [20:27] I've never asked anybody to build me a house. 2 Corinthians 1 chapter 7. I've never asked anybody. But because he has decided to build me a house. Tell David that. I will build him a house. He can't build for me. But I will build him a house. [20:38] How am I going to do it? When he dies. And he goes. Verse 12. When he dies. And goes. 2 Corinthians 1 chapter 7. Verse 12. He goes to be with his fathers. He says that. I will set up. Tell David. [20:48] I will set up your seed. After you. And he shall build. I will establish his kingdom. He is the one who is going to build a house for me. And then the verse 14 says that. I will be a father to him. [21:00] And he will be a son to me. Now. Whose son are we talking about? Is it David's son? Or God's son? Because God said. The one who is going to build a house. I will be a father to him. And he will be a son to me. [21:11] So. Messiah. Was supposed to be. The son of David. The seed of David. At the same time. He is supposed to be. A son of God. The only one who can build for God. [21:23] Is supposed to be. A divine human person. So when Stephen spoke about. David found favor. Acts chapter 7. 46. David found favor. Before God. A desire to build him a house. [21:34] But then Stephen. The next one said. But Solomon built the house. But Solomon built it. Then Stephen has to put in. A disclaimer. However. That house Solomon built. [21:45] Is not the one God was looking for. Because. The most high. Does not dwell. In temples. That is why. Human beings cannot build for God. Because how can you. [21:56] How can you use. Human hands. To build. For a divine person. However. The most high. Does not live in temples. Made by hands. [22:07] So Stephen was saying that. What Solomon built. Or when God said. Your son is going to build. He wasn't talking about. Solomon. Because Solomon. Solomon is not a builder. He couldn't build. [22:18] Now let me describe. The nature of the house of God. The nature of the house. One point I can make. About the nature of the house. Is a house that grows. Huh. Is that we all. [22:28] Are being built. Into a temple. That grows. Ephesians chapter 2. Verse 22. 23. We are all built. Into a temple. That grows. How. Can you build. A house that will grow. [22:38] Can any human being do that. Even if you. Take plants. Put them together. Living plants. [22:49] So that they can be. A house that grows. It will even become. A house that grows. So. A growing house. Cannot be built by a man. So the point I'm making here. Is that. Watch this. [22:59] Very carefully. This is. You know. In 2 Samuel. That was the point. Where David secured. The covenant. To be the father of the Messiah. That was. Because why. [23:10] Because he desired. To build a house. For the God of Jacob. You remember Jacob. The first one who attempted. So he said. He desired. Acts chapter 7. Verse 46. He found fever before God. [23:21] And he asked a request. Can I build a dwelling. For the God of Jacob. And God said. Because you have done this. A seed is going to come from you. That's why Jesus says. In Matthew chapter 22. [23:31] Verse 41. He asked them. The Messiah. Whose son is he? Verse 42. Jesus said. What do you think about the Messiah? Whose son is he? And they said to him. Son of David. This is very important. [23:43] So that means that. Everybody who has been well schooled. As a Jew. Knew there was a Messiah coming. One. Number two. They knew he's going to be. The son of David. That's very important. [23:54] John chapter 7. Verse 41. 42 and 43. They said that. If the Messiah comes. Is he going to do more miracles. Than what this guy is doing? John chapter 7. Verse 41. [24:05] 42 and 43. This is the Christ. Some say. Will the Christ come out of Galilee? Verse 42. Verse 42 says that. Has not the scriptures said that. The Christ. [24:16] Watch this. That comes from the seed of. It is a common knowledge. This is very important. When we talk about the seed. It means offspring. The fruit of David. [24:27] So that means that. Whoever is going to be the Christ. Is going to come from the fruit of David. Now in Psalm 89. Verse 3 and 4. Look at Psalm 89. Verse 3 and 4. From there we go to Psalm 1, 3, 2. [24:39] And I'll show you something. Psalm 89. Verse 3 and 4. It says that. I have. This is God talking. I have made a covenant with my chosen. I have sworn to my servant David. [24:49] What? God swore. He said. I swear to you David. What was I swearing? Look at the next verse. Your seed. He said. Your seed. I will establish forever. [25:02] And build up your throne to all generations. In other words. David. You are going to have this throne. Or dynasty. That will never fade out. That's when he told her. [25:13] You want to build me a house. If you attempt to do God's work. The church. That's why many pastors who do it well. Get blessed. That's why many church members who serve. The church. The church. [25:24] Before you talk about humanity. Whose hands are involved in building the church. Always get blessed. Anytime. The dimension to which you are committed to church work. [25:35] Will determine your rating in heaven. It's very important. So. God. Swore that David. Your seed. I'm going to raise your seed. [25:46] I can't imagine. And now establish his throne. So that means David's seed is going to have a throne. Now the Jews. Please watch this. The Jews understood that he was talking about the Messiah. [25:58] Because the Messiah was of necessity. Supposed to be a seed of David. Very important. Jews knew that. Because he's supposed to have a throne. That's very important. And now. When you look at Psalm 1, 3, 2, verse 11. [26:09] You see what God said to David. He says that. The Lord has sworn in truth to David. This David must have been a very special person. What made him special? It's not because he killed Goliath. [26:21] And it's not because he was so perfect. Because he knew. He killed somebody and married his wife. So it wasn't David's exceptional purity. Or exceptional. [26:32] But his heart for God. Procured him a certain placement in God. His heart for God. Pushed him so much. That he desired to build what God has not asked any man to build. [26:43] He tapped into. Oh. Oh. This is it. He tapped into the mystery of God. That has been hidden in God. Before the foundation of the earth. God hid something. It's about Christ and the church. God hid it in himself. [26:54] And God kept pointing. Talking about it from the prophets. And then David went past just talking about Christ. And went into the church. Building God's house. [27:05] So God said, David. So God swore to David. This is all part of the acts we are studying. I'm going there. I want to show you something. So everyone knew that the Messiah was supposed to be from the house of David. [27:19] That's why the Jews said that. Is this the Christ? No. No. But then they said. That the Christ is supposed to be from the seed of David. John chapter 7 verse 42. It's supposed to be the seed of David. [27:30] And look at what they said. But we know David is Bethlehem. But the Christ is from Nazareth. Look at the next verse. The Christ. And so there was division. [27:42] Because they didn't know that Christ was born in Bethlehem. Christ was born in Bethlehem. But he didn't grow up in Bethlehem. So when the prophet said that God was going to raise somebody from the seed of David. [27:54] From the town of David. He actually came from the town of David. So they were expecting this person coming. And because God said, I'm going to establish his throne forever. [28:04] They knew that this Christ. When he comes. There will be so much peace for the Jews and God's people. And God's people are now going to be reigning. And they will be the masters. The bosses. They will be having the best of life. [28:14] Because they have the best king. And only for Jesus to come. And then he says he's their Christ. And then they killed him. So now that's the problem. How can you be a Christ and suffer the way you suffered? How can you be a Christ and die the way you died? [28:28] So Jesus had to school his disciples when he resurrected from the cross. And he said that you are foolish and slow of heart to believe. All that the prophets have written. And he said you read the text. [28:39] But you missed some parts out. He spoke that Christ is going to be a reigning king. But he also said that Christ is going to die and suffer all these things. And he says that ought not the Christ to have suffered these things and enter into his glory. [28:51] You missed that bit. So why are you so downhearted? Because Christ died. He's still the Christ. But that Christ person is a very complicated figure. Now watch this. [29:03] So on the day of Pentacles, there was drama. There was sound from heaven. And besides the sound from heaven, people were speaking these languages that they were not familiar with. [29:14] And not only the languages, I realized that there were also, there were some antics. Because you can't say somebody's drunk until you hear the way they are talking. But if they are speaking somebody else's language, it's not a sign of drunkiness, right? [29:27] But more, when you see them behaving and maybe going like this, what is this? Oh, these people are drunk. They are shaking. And they are speaking. But one thing they were doing, they were talking about the wonderful works of God. [29:40] Verse 12. So then the people said, these are drunk. In fact, verse 12 says that they were all amazed and perplexing. What's the meaning of this? This is very important. Watch this. They said, what's the meaning of this? [29:51] What's going on? But some who were not thinking straight said they were drunk. Those who are thinking were wondering, this must be something bigger than we can imagine. Those who couldn't think properly. [30:03] That's how people always pass comments about church and pastors. Sometimes they don't think properly. You have to think logically. Yeah. Yeah. When someone tells you the Bible contradicts itself, it's likely you're not thinking. [30:17] Excuse me. What would you mean by, what makes you say that? Have you read the Bible cover to cover? Back to back. And then you came to this conclusion or someone told you. Most people who say pass comments about this is someone who has told them. [30:31] Many times. Someone just told them. Someone just told you. Oh, this Christianity is white man's religion. Which religion doesn't belong to people? Every religion is somebody's. [30:45] But for your information, Christianity is not just a religion. Anyway. Anyway. So people just are so quick to pass flimsy, flippant comments about Christianity especially. [30:57] Why? This is very important. Why? Because there is this mystery about Christianity. Which God has hidden himself. But must be revealed. And must be explained. [31:07] And must be taught. Watch this. No human being has what it takes in himself to discover God. The science of God is everywhere. You don't have to be trained. [31:18] You don't have to be educated to know that God is around. It's just basic to humanity. But to know this God, he has to reveal himself. And the revelation of God is captured here. [31:29] Now, then it takes people having taught and understand the revelation of God. And also growing their knowledge of God. To be able to pass on that information. That pass on. [31:40] So that is why Christian fellowship must always be around the scriptures. The scriptures must be at the center of every healthy Christian fellowship. [31:52] That's right. Else, naturally, we all veer off. Because we don't know God, you see. We don't know God. We don't know God comprehensive enough. [32:03] No human being has a comprehensive understanding and knowledge of God. We know him in bits. So, Jesus Christ was a Messiah who was expected to be coming. [32:14] But the Jews, watch this. The Jews didn't think he's that Messiah. So, when the event happened on the day of Pentecost, they heard sound, they heard languages, and they saw the people like they are drunk. [32:26] And they said, what's the meaning of this? The others said they are drunk. Then Peter, verse 14, said, these guys are not drunk as he's supposed to. Now, watch this. Then he said, this is what, this is very important. [32:37] This is what the prophet said. And every Jew who had good scriptural understanding knew that, watch this, knew that what Joel said was pointing to the Messianic era. [32:48] This is very important. So, they were waiting for the Messianic era. And Peter tells them that, what you are seeing is not people who are drunk, but it is what the Messianic era was supposed to usher in, which Joel said, that's what is happening. [33:05] So, by inference, the Messianic has come. So, Peter was trying to tell them, listen, all these things you are seeing, that is confusing or that is making you wonder, it's a sign, it's pointing to the fact that, we have entered the Messianic era. [33:19] And if we have entered the Messianic era, that means the Messiah is here. Now, where is he? So, Peter now had to take and he said, Jesus, a man attested by God, with signs, wonders, and miracles, which you all know. [33:35] And then he says that he was crucified. You killed him, but God raised him. Watch this. So, Peter gave his introduction about, this is the Messianic era. [33:46] So, that means the Messiah is here. But where is he? And he said, let me tell you about Jesus. And let me tell you why I know Jesus is the Messiah. So, he started by telling them, they killed, he was a normal human being. [33:59] He did miracles. God approved him. They killed him. He resurrected from the dead. Now, watch this. So, he spent much of the time about the resurrection. So, when you look at the verse 24, he says, but God raised him. [34:12] But God raised him. Let's all read here from the screen. Let's read it out. Let's go. Who God raised him? Having loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that he should be held by it. [34:23] What matter? Let's read it out. Let's go. Who God raised him? Having loosed the pains of death, because he was lost so bad. Now, he said about Jesus. [34:35] Now, look at the next verse. It goes into scripture. Watch this. He said, for David says concerning who? Him. Who is this him? Because David didn't know Jesus physically. [34:47] So, why he said David said concerning? He's talking about David spoke about the Messiah. Then watch this. He takes them to Psalm 16, verse 8, 9, and 10. He quotes directly from Psalm 16, and he says that I have, this is very important, I have set the Lord always before me, that, watch this, because he's at my right hand, and I shall not be moved. [35:10] That means this person talking is speaking in the first person. Right? He's speaking in the first person. So, when David said, I have set the Lord always before me, he was speaking in the first person. [35:25] So, definitely, watch this. So, definitely, David was talking about himself. When he said first person, the person said, I have set the Lord before me. That means David said, he has actually set the Lord before him. [35:37] Does that make sense? Thank you very much. Now, watch this. So, David said, I have set the Lord before me, because he is at my right hand, and I shall not be moved. David won victories. [35:48] And he was never moved, because God is at his right hand. So, it seems like that's true, David. The next verse, verse, I think we should go to Acts chapter 2, because it's quoting from this song. But, just, let's go to Acts chapter 2. [36:00] In Acts chapter 2, verse 25, for David said, for I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is at my right hand, that I may not be shaken. [36:11] The next verse, therefore, my heart rejoices, and my tongue was glad. Moreover, my flesh, my flesh, my humanity, my flesh shall rest in hope. [36:24] There's David talking, that when I die, I'll die in hope. Why? Why will you die in hope? Look at the next verse. Look at it. For you will not leave my soul in Hades. Nor will you suffer your holy one to see corruption. [36:39] So, David was talking about it. So, you'll be thinking that, wow, David, he's so blessed. Look at the way he's talking. He's a patriarch. So, he was talking about the fact that, I've saved God. He's been at my right hand. Even when I die, I'll rest in hope because he will never leave me to suffer corruption. [36:54] Right? Look at the next verse. It's more. David said more. You have made known to me the ways of life. You will make me full of joy in your presence. Quotation ends from Psalm 16, from verse 8 to 10. [37:09] Quotation ends. Now, look at what Peter said. He said, brothers, now he's about to interpret scripture. This is very important. He said, men and brethren, let me freely talk to you about the patriarch David. [37:21] Okay. Yeah, he said this. He said, yeah, David said it. So, now let me talk to you about David. What are you going to say about this? That he's both dead and buried. And his tomb, King James said, his sepulcher. [37:33] His tomb is still with us till today. So, that means that people knew where David was buried. They could go there and they knew that his bones were still there. David has not resurrected. But David said, my soul will not see corruption. [37:47] Or you'll never let me see corruption. But you are seeing, we all know that David has seen corruption. You know, sometimes you read the Bible and you see something that you believe, but sometimes it doesn't make sense. There are things in scripture you accept, but you just leave it the way it is. [38:03] But really, sometimes, sometimes, you don't want to blaspheme, so you just keep quiet. I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not a preacher. No, the fact that you don't understand doesn't mean it's not explainable. [38:18] So then people run into conclusions and say, the scripture is not true and all that. No, it's the way you understood it. But it can be explained to you. Like yesterday, I had a meeting with some people and the person asked me about, permit me to go off a bit, I'll come back quickly. [38:31] John the Baptist, in John chapter 1, verse 29, Bible says, the next day, John sees Jesus come, he said, behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. Then verse 31 says, I didn't know him, but that he will be manifested to you and that's why I come baptizing. [38:45] Then verse 32 says, that John bore witness that he saw the dove. Verse 33 says, I don't know him again. I don't know him. But, but you just said, behold the Lamb of God. [38:57] How come you don't know him? The person made a very good point. He said, sometimes the Bible stories you watch, can program your interpretation of scripture. Because the person was telling me he was watching something recently and he saw Jesus was coming to baptize. [39:13] Just before Jesus came, John the Baptist said, behold the Lamb of God. Then he baptized him. Before the dove came, before he knew that he's the one. So, which is which? But when you read the text, it seems to me that he was giving reports. [39:28] Before he said, behold the Lamb of God, he has experienced the dove coming upon him. So the next day he was walking, he said, behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. You know, so sometimes, the way it's presented, you might not realize you didn't catch something properly. [39:43] All right. So, it's important when you're reading scripture, take your time and read it within context. And sometimes, even you read within context, it doesn't make very clear. Because other texts have said it already. [39:53] But just that it's so vast, you might not have the chance to study. Or by the time you are reading Psalms, this didn't even occur to you. So it takes the help of the Holy Spirit and a lot of study for people to come and then sharing the scripture one with another and listening to anointed sound teachers. [40:10] It points your attention to some things. Now I spoke about the house of God. When you hear the house of God, it means the church for your information. It's the same thing. So what's the meaning of the house of God? I don't want to go into scripture to show you, but it means the church. [40:24] So when David said, I want to build God's house, he was pointing to the church. When Jesus said, I'll build my church, that's the house he's talking about. Now these things are very important to understand. It helps you to have a holistic, divine view about what God is doing from Genesis to Revelation and not our small, myopic life or time. [40:46] Someone is saying, God has disappointed me, so I don't believe again. You know, I'm a pastor. When someone says, I don't believe again, it's just not, I feel sad for the person. But it doesn't, listen, you go to hell. [41:01] It's not this. Listen, it doesn't matter the justification. I went to the church, somebody stole my money, and somebody was fighting me. A pastor did this, so all these things, I don't believe it. [41:13] If this thing is true, you are the one who burned in hell in spite of what someone did. We have to take responsibility for our belief. Don't make other people responsible. Yes, we all must bear good witnesses, but our good witness is not strong enough to save. [41:30] That's why salvation should be hinged on the gospel of Jesus Christ. If you are saved because you saw someone come to church and they have gotten money, so now me too, I'm going, or he's gotten married, so I'm also coming to church so I can get married. [41:42] I feel sorry for you, you know, because you are holding the stick at the wrong end. Salvation starts from discovery of Christ. Salvation starts from knowing who Jesus is. Who is he? The son of man that is the son of God. [41:54] He lived a human life but he was God. He died on the cross for our sins, not for his sins, for our sins. He resurrected to prove that his job has been done. And he's seated in heaven living his life on earth, building the church. [42:05] That is where church life starts. He said, blessed are you, summoned by John, Matthew chapter 16, verse 18. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you but my Father in heaven. And I tell you the truth, you are Peter, upon this row, upon this row, upon this revelation, I will build my church. [42:22] Jesus, build the church on the revelation that he is the Christ. If you don't know him as the Christ, you are not in church. You are not part of the church if you haven't accepted and known Jesus and believe him to be the Christ. [42:39] You don't have to understand everything about the Christ but you have to believe that he is the Christ who died for our sins. So let me run out quickly. So, then Peter said, David spoke about this. [42:50] But he said, let's be real here. Let's be real. David said, my soul, you will not leave my soul but for generations, David is dead. We know his tomb. David is both dead and buried. [43:01] In 1st Kings chapter 2, verse 10, he said, and David died and was buried. Nehemiah chapter 3, verse 16, they know his sepulcher, they know where his tomb is. Everybody in Jerusalem knew that David's tomb, Bible said, it happened at the place in front of the tomb of David. [43:17] David's tomb was there. They knew it. So Peter said that, this is the person, watch this, this is the person who said, God will not leave me in Hades and not leave me, so far, he said that, you will not leave my soul in Hades nor will you allow your holy one to see corruption. [43:35] He said, let me talk to you freely about David. Let's go to 29 quickly. He says that, David, the patriarch David, that he both is dead and buried his tomb with the dust. 30, look at this, 30. [43:47] Therefore, so what does it mean then? Watch this. If David said that he's still dead, what does the text mean? He said, therefore, David, being a prophet and knowing that God has sworn, do you remember that? [43:59] God has sworn with an oath to David that after the fruit of his body, I feel like preaching now. God swore to David that somebody's coming from your body. [44:10] Somebody's coming from your body. After the fruit of his body, according to the flesh, God will raise up the Christ to sit on his throne. David knew that. [44:21] God has told him. Where did he tell? We saw it in 2 Samuel 7, verse 12. God promised David it's there. In 2 Timothy 2, verse 8, it talks about Christ born according to the seed of David. [44:32] So it's there in scripture. In Romans chapter 1, verse 3, it says that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, born according to the flesh, concerning the Son of Jesus Christ, our Lord, who was born of the seed of David. [44:45] In Revelation, it said that I am the root and the fruit. Revelation 22, 16, 17, 16, it said that I am the fruit of David. So David was his father. That is why he watched this. [44:57] He asked the Jews, the Messiah, who do you say he is? And they all said, it's Matthew chapter 22, he is the son of David. But now, Jesus said, there's a problem here. [45:10] How come David said in Psalm 110, verse 1, the Lord said to my Lord, sit down at my right hand. Now, this, every Jew knew that David was talking about the Messiah. So if the Messiah was supposed to be his son, how can he call his son Lord? [45:25] So then, the Messiah was a very complicated figure, which natural mind cannot just figure out. So now, he's trying to raise a case from scripture. See what Peter did. [45:37] He quoted from scripture, is someone following me? I'm not, is you getting too much? See what Peter did. He quoted from scripture in Acts chapter 2, verse 16, he quoted from scripture. Then he explained the whole thing in the Messianic age and he explained about Jesus, how he was raised. [45:52] Then he went into scripture in verse 25. He quoted from Psalm 16, verse 8. He went into scripture and then he jumped out of scripture verse 29. Then verse 30, he jumped into scripture again. [46:05] Did you see how scripture, he was using scripture to explain scripture and to explain what they were seeing, all these things they were seeing. He said, this is what scripture has been talking about. It's happening live in our days. [46:15] It's happening before our eyes. And so he said, David being a prophet and know that God has sworn, that's Psalm 1, 3, 2, verse 11. God has sworn to him that after he's seen he was raised up, David therefore, watch this, therefore, being a prophet, God has sworn, so according to the flesh that he will raise the Christ to sit on his throne. [46:36] Remember when the angel came to Mary? He said, he'll be great and will be called the son of the most high and the Lord God will give him the throne. He was given a throne. [46:51] David was his father. In Acts chapter 30, verse 23, Paul was telling them that David is the seed of David. He says that from this man's seed, talking about David, God, according to the promise, God has raised for Israel a savior. [47:05] He's talking, so watch this, you cannot be the Messiah if we can't trace you to David. That's why they said, the Jews said that, but the Messiah, this guy doesn't come from Bethlehem. [47:15] How can he be a son of David? Because to be a Messiah, you must be traced to David. So now, David knowing that the Messiah is coming from his loins, being a prophet, spoke in the first person but he was speaking like he was a Christ. [47:30] Do you understand that? He spoke like he was a Christ even though, because, well, maybe he was the one he was, he wasn't talking about himself. Why? Peter said him being a prophet, knowing that God has promised him, spoke concerning the resurrection. [47:42] Look at verse 31. David foreseeing this, spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that his soul was not left in Hades, nor did his flesh see corruption. [47:53] Look at the next verse. The next verse. This Jesus has got raised. This Jesus has got raised of which we are, it's not like seeing something hidden. We're eating because there's no human being who has come back. [48:06] And all the, all the box, thick boxes concerning the Messiah, Jesus has fulfilled it. Now, the last bit is the resurrection. He has, Jesus, this is the guy. This, now, when it came to Paul and Paul was preaching about this same thing, he spoke, in fact, Paul quoted from the second Psalm. [48:24] Let me finish Acts. Let me finish this one. Chapter two. So, and it goes into another quotation. Look at this. So, verse 33 says that, huh, this is where the church was born. [48:36] Watch this. Watch this. Therefore, Jesus, being exalted to the right hand of God. I know some of us would like to know some things. [48:48] Let me, let me just go off a bit and come back from here. Say, okay, my time is over. But listen, where was he exalted to? Where was he exalted to? The, the what? [49:00] Left or right? Right. Is he at my right hand? Where is he? Left or right? Right. Where am I? Where, where am I? So, if this one who is supposed to be on God's right hand is talking, he will not talk about God being on his right hand. [49:22] Where would he say God is? Let's see the quotation of David again from 25, verse 25. For David said concerning him, I forsied the Lord before my face for he, he's where? [49:37] Right hand. Wow. Jesus was sat at the right hand of the Father. So, the Father shouldn't be on his right hand. You see, that was the things I'm telling you in the Bible. [49:48] You read it, you'll be thinking, ah. I saw the Lord on my right hand, not on my left hand. Because the Lord, he said, when Jesus was exalted, now, how can you explain this text in the light of verse 33? [50:06] He said, being exalted to the right hand. So, if you're saying David was talking about him, Jesus went to the right hand, but this David, God was on his left hand. Can I explain it? [50:18] Are you interested in knowing? Are you sure you want to know? The Bible doesn't contract it itself. Now, when he said, look at the text again, verse 25. For David said, concerning your mind. [50:31] Look at verse 26. This is where David began to speak about his convictions. Therefore, my heart rejoices and my tongue was clad. Why? Moreover, my flesh will rest in hope. [50:43] The flesh that went to the grave rested in hope knowing that I am covered. I am. This is depiction of extreme confidence in God, the goodness of God. [50:54] He knew, my God is so reliable, I can die and rest knowing that whatever he said, he will do it. I want to tell a mother, a father, if you are working with God, don't be worried about the outcome of your children's life. [51:06] Serve God. Whether you are a mother, even if you are a father or a mother, if you are working with God, I believe your future is always secured. Why? [51:17] Because you may not know what the future holds, but you know the one who holds the future. You know the one who holds the future. So, David was expressing, see, the mezzanic tone was, I'm going to the grave, but I'm confident. [51:29] So, he said, my flesh will rest in hope and then my soul went into hell or into Hades. So, two things happened. His body was in the tomb but his soul was in Hades. [51:40] That is why he told the thief on the cross, today, you will be with me in paradise because he was going to the tomb, not paradise. But human being is not just one. You are three parts, spirit, soul and body. [51:51] So, when he says that you will be with me in paradise, see, when he was done, he said, to your hands, I commit my spirit. So, his soul went to Hades. Hades is the worst I said it last time but let me say it again. [52:03] Hades is the place of the departed souls. So, your granddad and your grandmom, they are all in Hades. When people die, they go to Hades. [52:16] Then that's not fair. No, Hades has two chambers. There's a chamber of suffering, punishment, where people will be in fire. No hell, no hell. [52:27] Hell is not yet. Hell will come when everything is folded. But, there's a temporal place where people are being punished. Like, Lazarus and the rich man. You remember? Lazarus was in the bosom of Abraham and he was chilling out. [52:41] Whilst, the rich man, I'm talking about Luke chapter 16, the rich man was also where, Lazarus was in the bosom, the rich man also died and was buried. And what I have, look at this quickly. It said, and being, you see, tormented where? [52:54] In Hades, there's a place of torment. He lifted up his eyes and saw that somebody's chilling out and said, look at me, where I am. He said, I'm suffering. If you don't do Christ and you die, before the main hell, you will, uh-oh, the thieves on the cross. [53:11] One went, they all went to Hades, but one went to where it's called paradise, which is also called the bosom of Abraham. And the other one to the other side of Hades, which sometimes is called hell. [53:22] He was being in torment. It's very thirsty there. It's hot there. There's no air condition. Suffering. Suffering. So, when he went to Hades, he said, I'm going to Hades, but I know you will not leave my soul in Hades. [53:41] Jesus was saying, you will not leave my soul in Hades. That's the confidence with which he's talking about. The confidence. Look at the next verse quickly so I can, and you will not suffer your holy one to see corruption. You have made known to me the ways of life. [53:52] So, this extreme confidence. Now, in Isaiah chapter 41, verse 13. Now, the right hand thing. The right hand. The right hand. The right hand. Now, watch this. Usually, your bodyguard is, those days, your bodyguard is on your right. [54:07] Why? So that the left hand is holding the shield, and the right hand is holding the sword. So, when anything, they use the shield to shield, not themselves, to shield you. [54:19] That's one of the job of an assistant pastor. He's supposed to be on the right hand. To shield, to shield the one you are working with, the one you claim to support and protect. [54:36] He's supposed to be on your left hand, and use your shield to shield him. So, he shields them, and so that your right hand is free to fight. And then you are shielding and then you're fighting them. And you are shielding and fighting them. [54:48] Now, watch this. In Isaiah chapter 41, verse 13. In Isaiah chapter 41, it says that, watch this. It says, for I, the Lord, your God, I will uphold you, I will uphold where? [55:01] Your right hand. When it comes to defense and protection, you are on his left. So, I will hold your right hand, saying, fear not, I will help you. Now, in Isaiah chapter 42, verse 6, look at 42, verse 6, quickly. [55:17] I, the Lord, have called you in righteousness. I will hold your hands. Which of the hands does he hold? The right hand. I will keep you and give you as a covenant to the people, as a light to the Gentiles. [55:32] That's talking about Jesus. So, now, to hold you on your right hand is more about protection and defense. In Jesus' humanity, when he was going into Hades, he said that, God will hold my right hand. [55:46] That's how much I have confidence in him. But when he came out of Hades and he was elevated and exalted, when it was not time to reign, he went and reigned and sat at the right hand of the majesty on high. [55:59] Does that make sense? So, in his death, he expressed, I'm about to go into the grave, but I'm not sorrowful because he will hold my right hand and bring me up. [56:10] after he brought up, he came up. The Bible says that, let me finish this, verse 33, therefore being exalted to the right hand of God and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he poured, watch this, he poured out this, which you now, the things you are seeing and hearing, it's pointing to the fact that Messiah has come, is gone, and has happened, and he asked another scripture. [56:35] He asked one more scripture, he says that, for David did not ascend to heaven, but he said, the Lord said to my Lord, sit down at my right hand until I make your enemies die for the storm. [56:50] Look at how he concludes. Now, that text is the most quoted Old Testament text in the New Testament. The Lord said to my, it's Psalm 110, verse 1. [57:01] It's the most quoted Old Testament text in the New Testament. It's quoted in Hebrew chapter 1 verse 13, in which after 1 verse 3 is quoted in Mark, it's quoted in Luke, it's quoted in Matthew, it's quoted in Acts, two times in Acts. [57:15] It's the most quoted because it's a very important scripture that God said to my Lord, sit down at my right hand until I make your enemies die for the storm. He said, David said that, but we all know that David did not go to heaven. [57:29] David did not go to, so watch this, he said that, look at the next verse, that's where I'm ending now. Therefore, on the basis of this scriptural facts and reasoning, therefore, let all the house of Israel know assuredly, not half-heartedly or uncertainly, assuredly, that God has made this Jesus whom you crucified. [57:51] See, you did it, but God also has done his bit. Whom you crucified, God has made him both Lord and Christ. [58:02] God has, and Bible says, when they heard this, they were stabbed in their hearts because they realized what they have done. We have killed the miser, we are always waiting for. We have put away the hope of the ages. [58:14] We have dipped our hands in the blood of the Christ. They will say, Peter, help them from scripture to see what they have done.
