Thank you for tuning in to this powerful message by David Entry at Karis Phase 2, our Christ-centred youth services. You can never find Christ outside of the open Word of God. [0:14] May Jesus Christ reveal himself to you as you listen. Hallelujah! Ephesians chapter 4, verse 1 to 7. [0:30] I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that you walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, with all loneliness and meekness, with long suffering, forbearing one another in love, endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. [0:49] There is one body and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling. One Lord, one faith, one baptism. One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in all. [1:07] In Jesus' name, amen. Amen. Amen. We spoke about how Paul said, when he came to charging us to live a certain lifestyle, the basis of his charging was his qualification as a prisoner. [1:24] And as I explained the last time, that he was, he first of all introduced us to doctrine. But Christianity comes with a certain life of responsibility, life of accountability. [1:42] You cannot be an unaccountable Christian. In Matthew chapter 28, verse 18, it says, All power, Jesus came unto them, spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. [2:05] Therefore, on the grounds of the power that has been given to me, you would think that he would just zap people into discipleship. He said, you go, and, what I'm saying is given to me, go and teach all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father, the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I command you. [2:34] And, Lord, I will be with you even to the end of this earth. He could have just made us know the things we have to know, personal revelation. [2:46] You never grow in the Lord based on your personal revelation. I will explain it. You grow in the Lord based on the revelation that has been communicated to you, that has become personal. [3:06] So, it's not your own thing. You just, okay, you are praying and you saw a personal revelation. That's not spiritual growth. Spiritual growth doesn't come from something that you personally got unilaterally. [3:23] Can you imagine if you are a self-taught medical doctor? It doesn't matter. You can heal cancer, but still you are dangerous. Because maybe, for some reason, you have some interesting abilities of argument that made you be able to heal cancer. [3:48] But there's a whole range of things you have not been trained, because to be a medical doctor, someone must train you. To grow spiritually, you must be taught. [3:59] It's called discipleship. So, Jesus tells us to make disciples. He tells us to make disciples. [4:11] We are supposed to be the disciple-making church. A lot of churches don't make disciples. [4:22] They are not praising disciples. We have to go and make disciples. We have to go and make disciples. In fact, there was probably said discipling nations. Praise the Lord. [4:34] So, back to discipleship. So, it's important to understand that discipleship, disciple-making is at the heart of Christianity. [4:51] Disciple-making is at the heart of Christianity. Disciple-making is at the heart of Christianity. [5:25] You have to work out your salvation. You do not work for your salvation. You rather work out your salvation. Say work out. [5:38] Work out. So, Philippians says that, chapter 2, that work out your salvation with fear and trembling. [5:50] Work out your salvation with fear and trembling. You work it out. Doctrine is about salvation worked in. [6:01] Duty is about salvation worked out. So, before you are saved, you don't work it in. So, Ephesians chapter 1, chapter 2, chapter 3, it's primarily about salvation worked in. [6:19] Ephesians chapter 4, chapter 5, chapter 6 is about salvation worked out. And, you see, it's God's part. And, you see, it's God's part and your part. [6:37] So when he got to Paul telling us our part, he starts by saying that, I beseech you that ye, I beseech, as a prisoner of Christ, I beseech you that ye walk. [6:57] You see, that's responsibility right there. That's right there, responsibility. Ye walk worthy. So you can't walk anyhow. [7:10] Your walk must be compatible to your salvation. Your walk must be reflective of your salvation. [7:25] Your walk must reflect your salvation. So Paul said, I have been called by God in Acts chapter 26. [7:40] I have been called by God. I was going to persecute the church. And on my way to go and persecute them, a bright light, verse 14, Acts 26, 14. [7:53] Paul said, I was going to persecute them. And at midday, I saw a light from heaven. The soul! Soul! Why do you persecute me? This morning I was talking about kicking against the goats. [8:05] It's hard to kick against the pricks. He was, you know, how many of you, you or you know somebody who was trying to avoid church or preaching because he didn't want to be saved? [8:21] He was saved. He tried to, people were preaching. No, no, no, no, talk to me. You are kicking against the pricks. You won't survive. You won't succeed. Paul had powerful preaching. [8:34] One of the most powerful preaching in the Bible was preached by Stephen. Stephen was one person who, I mean, when you read Acts chapter 7 from verse 1, look at how verse 1 opens up. [8:47] It says that then the high priest said, this same high priest was the one who killed Jesus. Powerful guys. He said, are these things, because they were accusing Stephen, false accusation that he was speaking against Moses, speaking against God, speaking against the law, speaking against the temple. [9:03] And then they brought false accusers to come and accuse him. And when they did that, the high priest now said, Stephen, are these things so? If you were Stephen, you would say, no, it's not so. [9:14] They said, I didn't say this. They said, I didn't say it. I don't know why they haven't, no, Stephen didn't go into none of that. Permit me to use this kind of American English. He didn't go into none of that. [9:26] He didn't go into none of that. And chapter 1, verse 1, sorry. Verse 1 says that the high priest said to Stephen, are these things so? [9:37] And he said, brethren and fathers, brothers and sisters and fathers, listen, the God of glory appeared to, then he goes to talk about Abraham. [9:52] Stephen, the guys are lying about you and they're accusing you. Are these things so? He said, let me talk. Please, just let me talk. Then he starts, the God of glory. [10:04] The God of glory. Say the God of glory. God of glory. Appeared to our father Abraham when he was in Mesopotamia before he dwelt in Haran. These guys now he's giving them history lessons. [10:17] He gave them a thorough history lesson about the Jews. Everything you, the Old Testament is about is what the core message or the core events of the Old Testament from Genesis to Revelation. [10:36] It's this main thing. What made the Jews, the Jews. So he says the God of our father starts from Abraham. With the Jew, you haven't started to start Abraham. [10:47] You know, Jews, the beginning is not Adam. No, they don't care about Adam. Because as soon as they say Adam is the beginning, they've added you. That's why it says that John chapter 8 from verse 40. [11:05] He said, verse 39. He said, Abraham, he said Abraham is your father. He says, Abraham, they said Abraham is her father. You see where they start. The origin of Jew is Abraham. [11:15] Abraham was the first Hebrew. So the origin of the Jews is Abraham. That's why they said, Jesus said, if Abraham were your, you said Abraham was your father. [11:29] But then Jesus told them that you are the sons of the devil. They said, no, Abraham is her father. And Jesus said, if Abraham would, if you were Abraham's children, you wouldn't do what you are doing. Because Abraham, verse 40, verse 40 says that, but now they start to kill you. [11:44] But you are seeking to kill me. A man who has told you the truth from God, which I've heard from God. Abraham did not do this. And then they said, no, we are not bastards. We actually are Abraham's children. He said, you do the deeds of your father. [12:00] Then they said to him, we are not born of fornication. That's a serious one. I don't want to go into that. We are not born of fornication. [12:12] We have a father, God. And then look at the next verse. Jesus said, if God were your father, you would love me. For I proceeded forth and came from God. [12:24] Nor have I come of myself, but I have said, look at the next verse. Then the Jews would be saying something. Why do you, why don't you understand my sin? Because you are not able to understand my ways. Verse 44. [12:36] Jesus said, they said, you are of your father, the devil. And you desire, the desire for your father is you would do. They're talking about the devil. He was a murderer and a liar from the beginning. And when he speaks lies, he speaks his native language. [12:49] So the devil, this is natural language. He's lies. Those of you who have been lying, you are speaking the language of the devil. He said, that's his native language. You know, some of you, your mother speaks Yoruba. [13:01] That's your mother's native language. Some of you, your parents speak what? Lingala. That's what I wanted to say. I was trying to remember that. Lingala. Some of you, you speak French. [13:12] Some of you, your parents' natural dialect is Cockney. Some of you, your parents' actual dialect is Patois. [13:30] Some of you, your parents' natural language and dialect is Cantonese. Punjabi. Some of you, your parents' dialect is African. [14:04] The devil's dialect is lies. You see how some of you used to look like the devil? So, you see, when you speak, the devil says, oh, I have a relative here. [14:16] He begins to come. Why are you speaking? Because that's the language he understands. Soon as you start lying, he said, that's the devil. [14:28] That's one of our own. Nobody is speaking that language. He said, oh, I didn't know you can also speak that language. They tell to you. And Satan just likes you. He'll never leave you as long as you lie. So, Jesus said, you are of your father. [14:42] The devil is a liar from the beginning. Verse 45. Verse 45 says that. Because I tell the truth. Because the devil is a liar. He doesn't like truth. You do not believe me. [14:53] The next verse. This one is such a serious thing. When I saw it, I said, she will go to hell pass all. Especially those of you who want to be preachers. [15:07] When can you stand to say, which of you can accuse me of sin? Which of you can convict me? You know in your heart, which of you can say, I've done anything with you? [15:21] Which of you can say, I've lied to you. Or you were my accomplice in sin. You're a partner in crime. Which of you can say that one day a man of God can stand and say, all of you girls in the church, which of you can say, I've blow kissed on you? [15:37] Yeah. That you're a sister in church, you can tell. How many of you? Who can ever tell I've competed over a man with her? [15:51] I've never told myself. Since I've become. Who can tell that I've slept with somebody who I'm not married to? Nothing is serious. Jesus said, which of you can accuse me of sin? [16:03] Which of you? Which of you convict me of sin? And if I'm telling the truth, why don't you believe me? Because my sinlessness is telling you who I am. [16:13] Believe me when I'm speaking the truth. But because of your sin and your dodgy behavior, we cannot even believe the things you are saying. Look at someone say, God help us all. [16:28] May we all come to the state where you can say, who can accuse me of sin? If your enemies decide to really pick on you, you know, they'll get something. [16:42] Yeah. They will get, some of you, they will get so many things. Yeah. So many things where you can be accused of. And they were true. [16:54] They were right. What they are saying is true. That you lied. You stole. One of the things that can be painful is when your testimony has been taken away. [17:09] Because you compromise on your values. Wow. If you want to be a genuine Christian doing well, it's painful. It's painful. [17:21] You feel you can't forgive yourself. Especially for, that's for the genuine ones. As other people, that's there. They are not born again. That's why they can't bring forth the fruit of repentance. That's where I'm going. [17:32] But when you're a genuine Christian, you move on. But you wish you don't have to see your past. It's not nice. It's not nice. [17:44] It's not nice. But if you want to be a man of God, fight! That one day, you'll be able to say that. Or you're going to be a great man. [17:55] Which of you accuse me of wrongdoing? Because Satan can use it against you one day. He'll pull the rug off your feet. In the day when you're about to say, God, for God, it's... [18:08] He'll say, hey, hey, hey. And he'll shut up. Why are you worried when there's a prophecy that somebody's pregnant? [18:20] Why are you worried? Why are you worried you are not married? You are worried that, hey, what? I think I have to go and buy a test kit. [18:33] Why do you need that? Why are you worried? Brothers, determine that you will not have that testimony. Because some of you, if your computer is seized, or even that phone of yours, the strange face time it has done. [18:59] Yeah. It's true. Are you a devil? You are not. But sometimes, you'll be going forward and you feel wounded because of your history. [19:16] It's different from what happened to you before you came to Christ. But what happens to you when you are in Christ has a way of paralyzing your testimony. [19:27] Not miracles you are going to get. I'm talking about your convictions and your boldness. It weakens your boldness. Because what can you give which you don't have? [19:40] That thing, the day I saw it, I said, wow. My God, help me. So that I can stand and see which of you accuse me of wrongdoing. [19:55] This one, I know, no, this one. You know, when you do something with somebody, they know. But if one is overtaking by a fault, our job is to gather around the person and help you stand without looking back. [20:09] What you did yesterday is not important to me as what God is about to do with you tomorrow. But you yourself, other believers who forgive you, or they will not make an issue out of you because they themselves, they are also nesting their wounds. [20:23] But you wish you could say, I am a stone, a virgin, in Christ. Outside Christ is a different story. [20:34] But in Christ! When you are a Christian and you fall into sin, it never leaves you, even though God forgives you. [20:45] But sometimes, guess what time, you wish you didn't have this history. I'm not talking to somebody. Yes. Guess what time? So, what I'm trying to say is, we have to fight not to have that history. [21:00] For if God is with you, later on, you regret for having that history. Because he has a way of taking something from you. Jesus said, which of you accuse me of wrongdoing? [21:17] Anyway, back to the original text I was talking about. Talking about Satan being the father. So, Jesus said, the Jews were always traced. [21:28] So, the whole discourse became about Abraham. What did you read that one? You said, that's when he told them that, before, they said, are you greater than our father Abraham? Because you are, from verse 50, you are telling us that, if, anyone who believes in you will not die. [21:46] Our father Abraham is dead and the prophets are dead. are you greater than our father? Then Jesus said, before Abraham. It didn't say before Adam. Because Jews, their language is Abraham. Their origin is Abraham. [21:59] Their origin. That's why Matthew, the gospel that was written to the Jews, never went past Abraham. It traces the genealogy of Jesus to Abraham. [22:10] Matthew chapter 1, verse 1. Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham. Abraham. Then look at verse 2. Abraham begat Isaac. Isaac begat, there they go. So it started from Abraham. [22:22] How about Noah? Where is Noah? Where is Methuselah? Where is Adam? Where is Seth? Where are all of them? They are not, Jews don't really care about that. [22:36] So long as Jews are concerned, it's Abraham. So Stephen started talking to them about, Stephen, are these things true? So he said, the God, the God of, listen to me, God of glory appeared to our father Abraham. [22:53] Then he started talking about Abraham, went to Isaac. He was actually talking about Genesis. How can you say, I don't believe in Genesis and be a Christian? Which Bible do you believe in? [23:04] I believe in the whole Bible, but not Genesis. If Genesis is not true, what makes you think Exodus is true? The people in Exodus, where did they appear from? How did they come? How can you appreciate Exodus if you don't know the story in Genesis? [23:19] And how can you appreciate and respect Genesis chapter three if you don't respect Genesis chapter one? So you hear people who say, I don't believe in Genesis chapter one. [23:31] It's all, where do you start believing? Two, three, 17, chapter 50, or Exodus or Psalms. Where do you start believing? [23:44] You can never appreciate the story in Psalms if you don't know the story of Exodus. And there's no way you can appreciate Exodus if you don't know the story of Genesis. How did they, how did the children of Israel appear? [23:56] In fact, where did they come from? How did they become children of Israel? Where did they come from? How did they appear in Egypt? How did they get there for Pharaoh to come and his leave them? How, it's everything is captured. [24:07] So Stephen starts from Abraham and walked them through scripture. Spoke about Isaac. Spoke about Joseph. Spoke about Jacob. Spoke about Joseph. Yes. [24:18] And then he spoke about Moses. How the Jews were formed. They were formed in the crucible of affliction in Egypt. So whilst they were in Egypt, they were becoming, they were being formed and I said, actual people. [24:32] So they were formed in Egypt and Moses was born. The king was afraid of, he was threatened about their increase and their influence. And so the king passed a law. [24:42] Kill them. Kill all the boys. And Bible says that, I ran down. And like the Stephen said, at that time, verse 18, 19, at that time, Moses was born. And verse 22 said, and he was raised. [24:55] Pharaoh's daughter accepted and was raised with, he was educated in the, all the wisdom of the Egyptians. And then Moses decided to go and visit his people. And when he went, someone was abusing somebody and then he joined and killed the person. [25:08] And the next day, he went again and another two Egyptians were, Jews were fighting. He said, I don't have to fight. You are brothers. He said, hey, get out of here. The one who was, the bully, the bully, the bully says that, get out of here. [25:19] Who made you a ruler and the judge over us? And then when he said, do you want to kill me like you? Uh-oh, this thing is not secret. You see your history? It can run you out of town. [25:32] So he ran out of town for fear that he cannot hide anymore. He has killed an Egyptian. So he left town and went and he found himself as a fugitive in Midian. [25:44] And he was taking care of his Jethro, the priest in Midian, his sheep. And on one occasion, as he was taking 40 years, the Bible said 40 years had passed. [25:55] As he was taking care of the sheep, he saw the burning bush and then he went close. He says, take off your shoes. And then he spoke about God gave them the law. He gave them the commandments. [26:06] So God sent him to go and bring them from Egypt. Verse 35, they said, you, the one who they rejected and saying, who made you a ruler and a judge, the same one God sent to go and be a ruler and a judge. [26:17] God brought them out of Egypt. Then he spoke about the tabernacle. Then he spoke about David. And then how God gave them rest and the judges. And then he says that David found favor before God. [26:28] And then as he spoke, he told them about how the fact that David had found favor so much with God. So he says, oh God, can I build your house? I don't know what kind of love you claim to have for God that does not translate into doing the church work. [26:44] Every love of God, when it's drawn to his logical conclusion, it ends up in building the church. When you genuinely love God, you are interested in what happens in the church. You are interested in your, adding your weight and adding your effort and adding your strength to the building of your church. [27:00] That's the God love. So David found favor and he said, God, can I build you a house? But Bible says, Stephen said that David did not build, it was Solomon who built the house. [27:11] Can you imagine? They accused him that he was speaking against the temple. And then he spoke, he told them all about Moses and everything. And then when he got to there, it says that David said, I'll build you a temple. [27:25] And then he, God didn't allow David to build, but he said, what do you call it? Stephen said, but David decided, but Solomon built. That's, I like the way he put it. See, but Solomon built. [27:36] Look at the verse before. Look at the verse before. Who, David found favor before God and asked to find a dwelling for the God of Jacob. But Solomon built it. [27:49] So he summarized the whole story. He didn't go into detail. God said, David, no. He said, it's so Solomon who built it. So that's the end of his message. Watch this, this is very interesting. The end of the, the core message, the end of the, the core message of the Old Testament, God's plan. [28:09] He, he was able to extract the plan of God through the pages of the Old Testament. And so he got to the temple because all God has always wanted was a temple called the church. [28:21] So when he got to the temple, he flipped it into the New Testament and he said, Solomon built the house, but God does not dwell in temples built by him. So as soon as he's finished the temple, as the prophets have said, he quoted the prophets. [28:37] Look at verse 49, quickly. The heavens is my throne, the earth is my foodstool. What house will you build for me? Says the Lord. Or what is the place of my rest? You can't build for me. [28:47] Ah, it's getting bad now. It's getting worse now. Has my, God said, has my man, my hand not made all things? You can't make me out. Look at, look at, it's, it's finished the Old Testament. [29:00] I'm drawing attention to something. The real message and the real plan of the Old Testament is to, he did everything to get the temple. [29:11] So he says that Solomon built the temple, but that's not it. God said, that's not it. This, this won't do it for me. This won't do it for me. This, no, this, this is not, this. How many of you have gone to view a property before and you, you say, no, no, I don't like that. [29:27] No, this is not for me. Some property, especially when you're looking for accommodation property, either to buy or to rent. As soon as, if sometimes, one of the funny things about looking for a property is sometimes they advertise something and you are going to view. [29:43] As soon as you get, you don't even enter, you get to say, no, but out of courtesy, you just follow this agent. But you have made up your mind. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, this is not for me. So, Solomon built a temple when God came, no, no, no, no, this is not for me. [29:59] This, Solomon, well done, but this is not for me. This is not for me. This is not for me. This is not for me. This is not for me. Sometimes someone can buy you some, a shoe or dress or something or a wig and you say, no, no, no, but this, this, this, how can I wear this? [30:16] How can I wear this? It is not for me. So, Solomon built and God said, it's not for me. And so, that's what Stephen was saying, that it wasn't for God and flipped it. [30:29] Look at that. He said, God does not dwell in the temples made behind. Then, he flips it on the people. Stephen, he never defended what the accusation but he flipped it on the people. [30:42] Stephen, when he did that job, Saul of Tarsus was there and he was a top-learned man. He was an authority of the Old Testament and he knew it left, right and center. [30:57] For the first time, someone opened it up and he realized, I never knew this. Somebody opened because the Old Testament, the Bible is coded. Even though it's in plain text, spiritualia, spiritualite, examinatu. [31:13] So, you can read and read and read and understand that word that read it. So, they were reading in Acts chapter 13 verse 27. It says that the Jews and their leaders, they read it every day in the synagogue, every Sabbath. [31:30] But when Jesus came, they were the ones who killed what they were. They executed. The negative, they said some people will do this, but when they came, they did it. Not knowing why. Because they did not know God, not the voice of the prophets. [31:44] So, this is what happened when Stephen preached. When Stephen preached, suddenly, all Paul's education and training came to light. [31:56] And he realized that everything was pointing to Jesus. Stephen preached on that Jesus jumped out of the page of scripture in the face of anyone who has been schooled in scripture like Saul. [32:08] Saul saw it. Saul saw it. this is about this Jesus. But his heart was too stubborn and he was in the territory of his wicked folks such that he couldn't concede. [32:20] So, when he saw it, he started running away from it. In other words, he broke his mind. I will never accept this. I will never accept this. I will never. This so-called Christians, we will kill them. [32:32] We will stop them. So, he was on a mission and he broke his mind. So, he even went wild to get rid of them because he has determined I will never accept this. So, as he was doing it, the message of Stephen was still boiling in his heart. [32:45] The revelation. He couldn't kick against the ghost. He was trying to kick against, I don't want this. I don't want this. I don't want this. Until Jesus met him. When he fell, Jesus said, Saul, Saul, why do you do this? [32:56] It is difficult to kick against the ghost. Who was responsible? Stephen. Stephen. Stephen opened up all his education in one go. [33:09] How he has been mastered, he has been an expert in, which he, for the first time, he realized he didn't understand everything he has been taught. So, he listened to Stephen, but I still hated him. [33:21] They killed him and he wanted to suppress his conscience. I don't care. Kicking against the ghost. Kicking against the ghost. Kicking against the ghost. Saul. This Saul. He said, then when I fell, when we all had fallen to the ground, I heard a voice speaking to me, saying, in the Hebrew language, see, God has this language, Hebrew language, Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me? [33:49] It is hard for you to kick against the ghost. You are kicking against things that you don't kick. Because you kick it, you are wounding yourself. [34:00] You will keep bleeding until you stop kicking it. And I don't want to, I don't want to do it. Then you are bleeding. So some horses, they will be bleeding because they keep kicking against the ghost. Or ox. [34:13] Because they don't want them to go left or right. And they want the ox to go, they keep the ghost there. If you turn, it breaks you. If you turn, it breaks you. And if you are stubborn, then you try to kick the ghost, kick against the ghost. [34:24] But you end up wounding yourself. That's why I said, it is difficult, it's hard for you to kick against the ghost. The bricks. [34:35] Another verse uses the word, bricks. It breaks you. It breaks you. It breaks you. You can't hit it. It will hurt you. It's there to break you, to cause you, to stay on a certain. So the message Stephen breaks. [34:47] It was meant for Paul to come into the mainstream of God agenda, but he was kicking against it. He was kicking against it. He was kicking until he fell in. He made his ass and fell. He said, why do you, it is difficult to kick against it. [34:59] Then verse 15. So, I said, who are you? Lord, say Lord. Lord. And he said, I am Jesus whom you persecuting. [35:12] Then Jesus said to him, but rise up, stand on your feet for I have appeared unto you for this purpose to make you a minister. Ah, such a person. Oh, God is a God of mercy. [35:23] God is a God of plan. In that stage, God was already talking about ministry with him. I have appeared to you to make you a minister of, a minister, not only a minister, and a witness of both the things which you have seen, including what happened with Stephen. [35:42] Witness of things you have seen, of things which he will, I will yet reveal to you. The next verse, I want to, I'm taking you somewhere. You will shock when I get there. [35:54] You will shock that this, oh, so I could have quoted it directly. Do I have to come and comb through all this? Oh, yes. I will deliver you from the Jewish people as well as from the Gentiles to whom I now send you. [36:08] Hey! So, what am I sending you to do? To open their eyes, turn them from darkness to light, turn them from the power of Satan to God, and that they will receive remission of sins and inheritance amongst them that are sanctified. [36:28] Yeah. Five things. Good preaching. The preaching before you become born again, anyone who is not born again is on the other side of this preaching. [36:39] Open their eyes, that means their eyes are blind. If you are not born again, you are blind. If you are not born again, you are in darkness. If you are not born again, you are under the power of Satan. If you are not born again, you don't have forgiveness of sins, and if you are not born again, you don't have inheritance among the saints. [36:55] That's why we can't keep quiet. We have to preach to bring people into this. And then Paul said, therefore, O King Agrippa. Now, you see, you see, sometimes you like some texts, they are powerful, but it's good to know the context. [37:13] So, at least, you know, when someone says that, why are you, it's difficult for you to kick again, you know it was before he spoke about he wasn't disobedient to the heavy, because deathly, he cannot be disobedient to it. [37:25] He's trying to say, King Agrippa, you want me to continue kicking against the good? King Agrippa, who in his right senses will go that direction? I cannot. [37:37] I cannot. O King Agrippa, therefore, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision. So, what did I do? But, what is it? It says, but declare first to them in Damascus and in Jerusalem and throughout all the regions of Judea and to the Gentiles that day. [37:55] Did you see his message? His message is that they should repent. That's how you come, you receive open, your eyes, the blind eyes are open. That's how you move from darkness to light. [38:06] That's how you move from how you move from the power of Satan to God. That's how you get forgiveness of sins and that's how you receive an inheritance among those who are sanctified. How do you do it? He said, you have to repent. [38:17] Ah, this is where he's going. He said, repent and turn from God and do works. Say works. Yes. You have to do works that are befitting of repentance. [38:29] If you say, now you are in church, prove it. Prove it with your character. Prove it with your behavior and attitude. So Paul, after he gave an elaborate description of what saves us, he says that after you are saved, you have to bring forth fruits of repentance. [38:51] Fruit that befits your claims. Is it not the same as walking worthy of the calling? Yes. Walking worthy of the calling. Walking worthy of the calling. Walking worthy of the calling. [39:02] We have had enough of your claims of being in church but you are almost like you are worthy or devilish. And what bothers me? [39:15] Oh! What bothers me? Oh! What bothers me? Oh! What bothers me is how you are not bothered about your lack of repentance. [39:29] It's one thing, struggling and fighting against sin. You know what I'm talking about? Yeah, we can fight against sin. You can struggle against sin. [39:42] You can, Romans chapter 12, I think verse 4. Hebrews 12 rather. You have not yet resisted to blasphemy and striving against sin. Has striving against sin made you lose your life? [39:57] Wow! Have you lost your life? Fight and deal with this sin thing. So sometimes we can be fighting, striving against sin that the thing is really working against. [40:07] How many of you have felt like sometimes you fought against it but the thing is really fighting? yes. Yes. It comes, it's normal. That's why I'm appealing to it. [40:19] Please, minimize the number of things people can have against you. Can you, no, you can. Jesus said, how many of you can accuse me of sins? Try and minimize it so people can look at your face and say, can you accuse me of it? [40:33] What can you, what can you accuse me of? Minimize it. Fight. Are you listening to me? Fight. [40:47] So, what I'm saying is that there are times where you are striving against sin and there have been one or two times where it flawed you. How many of you have been flawed by temptation before? [40:57] Yeah. Some of you hypocrites, you want to raise your hand. Who are you trying to impress? How many of you have fallen into temptation before? So, it says that I'm not talking about falling into temptation. [41:10] I'm talking about living in sin. When you live in sin, you are not tempted. It's your habitation, not your temptation. [41:23] It's your habitation. Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. That is what the issue is, that you don't have fruits of repentance. So, Paul said, walk worthy of the calling of which you have been called. [41:40] Walk worthy. You don't need people to know about you. God knows about you. There are a lot of things you'll be doing with none of us will know, but God knows. [41:51] And it will be showing on your destiny. She'll be showing on, whilst others are shining, you'll be shying. Whilst others are shining, glowing, you'll be doing what? [42:08] It will go, shining, groaning. Instead of glowing, you'll be, ow, ow. That's what Jesus said. There will be gnashing of teeth. [42:19] Some of you young ladies, in the next 10 years, if you don't get married, don't blame anybody. Don't blame anybody. [42:32] The lifetime some of you are living, others will, you'll be left behind. Because by the time God is doing the allocations of the, to the faithful ones, the inheritance are being given. [42:44] You were busy on the outside, even though you look like you are inside. You were too in to be out and yet too out. So years later, some of you young men, you, you, you, you, I know you'll be leading prayer. [42:59] I know you'll be like, you're busy with ministry, but you have dodgy things you are doing. In the next 15 years, when others have become big men of God, great men, they're breaking through. [43:10] God has blessed them with all kinds of blessings. You are still at a certain level. You are still at a certain, you couldn't, it's like a helicopter that was trying to take off, but I couldn't take off. [43:25] Whilst others are already, sorry, they have arrived already. You are still trying to take off. Because you were doing something in secret, nobody knew. Nobody, but you know it. [43:37] If you cannot tell people which of you can accuse me of wrongdoing and nobody knows about any wrongdoing, it will show. in the day of not, in the day when you fail to take off, you remember. [43:52] You might not admit it. You might not tell others, but you remember, I could have done better had I not been sleeping with this girl. Had I not been sleeping with this guy, I would have been married by now. [44:06] Yes. But you know, when Satan has got your legs in calves, all these things we are saying, you will hear. you will hear. You will hear. [44:16] You will just be sitting and watching and yawning. You will hear. Magadashahaya. Future. When you are young, your future is supposed to be bright. [44:30] Amen. Because you have all the tools to build a glorious future. How can we all start building at the same time, we all have the materials to build, the tools to build. [44:40] And after 10 years, people have built skyscrapers and you have still not been able to finish digging the foundation. No, no, something is wrong. You can't blame your father. [44:51] You can't blame your mother. You can't blame the system. Because inheritance in God was available for all of us. Bring fuck fruits befitting repentance. [45:05] Oh. Paul said, that's the message. In order for people to enter into openness of the blind eye. Some of you, there's no way when your husband shows up, you'll see him. [45:16] Because your eyes are blind. That's right. Some of you brothers, you claim you are spiritual and you want to do ministry. God will use you. The kind of woman you say, I want to marry, tells us a lot of how blind you are. [45:33] You are not spiritual. You look spiritual, but you are very blind. That is not fitting for your destiny. It's not fitting for your destiny. It's not, it's not everybody you can marry based on where you are going. [45:45] Because of who you are, because of who you are, you are going, and because of the kind of children you are supposed to have. It's not everybody you can be married to. Because of the kind of ministry God has called you into, you cannot marry some people. But when you are blind, when you are in darkness, you are making choices in darkness. [46:03] Go and ask Jacob. You are making choices in darkness. That's why you are so worried. You are trying to catch this guy before someone catches him. Look, look, you are in darkness. [46:14] And I'm not surprised that there are secret practices you are doing, which nobody knows. Secret practices that you are doing, which is not worthy of the call of Christ on your life. [46:26] That is why we can see the evidence is you have some blindness. That's why you are choosing blindly. that's why you are choosing in the dark. That's why you are choosing under the influence of the power of Satan. [46:39] Because this thing, we can all tell that it can ruin your life. You are the only one who can tell. But why am I saying this? There are people you advise and their hearts are set for their distraction. [46:52] Their hearts are set for distraction. And sometimes, what makes people do those kind of things is because of darkness they are in. they can make sensible choices. [47:09] Refort fruits worthy of repentance. Walk worthy of the calling wherewith even God with all meekness and loneliness. [47:23] Life is a universe, not a uniform. universe means unity. We are all in one place but with diversity. [47:35] Diversity is okay. So, universe, unity in diversity. If you try to make us uniform, the church we can't be uniform. But we need unity. [47:48] There's a difference between uniformity and unity. walk worthy of the call with which Christ has called you with all lowliness, all lowliness, meekness, with long suffering for bearing one another in love. [48:09] Let me add one more verse. That's what I've been waiting to get to. All this Moses and Stephen and all that is just to lead you to some way. [48:23] Sometimes it's okay if you're a Christian and you come to church and your heart is convicted. It's good for you. It's okay. A good message is supposed to disturb the comfortable and comfort the disturbed. [48:39] It's okay. Stop saying that I'm struggling. Get up. Wake up. Because we are going. We will leave you behind. We will leave you behind. We will leave you behind. [48:50] There is no virtue in failure. I'm failing. I'll get. Listen, life doesn't wait for anybody, no? Life will not wait for you. [49:00] You think you'll be 17 years old again ever? Never. Never. Never once will you repeat a year. Never once. You can repeat a course but not your years. [49:13] Yes. First time when you did the course, you were a 90-year-old person on the course. This time, you are a 20-year-old person on the same course. [49:26] It's different. It's different. It's different. It's different. Am I preaching at all? [49:37] No. No. No. No. No. Struggling is bad. If your husband is struggling pornography say none that you are not married fight that thing now! Fight it! Fight it now! Believe God. I don't want to talk you down but please believe God because the kind of place you are going you can accommodate this thing. [50:40] It will ground you in life. Your tank is leaking and you are trying to fly to space. No, no, no, no. Fix that leak. Fix it! [50:54] I know I haven't tried. Try more. I don't know what to say about leaking tank. You are not fit to fly. But my job is to help you to fly. So I'm not going to have a leaking tank. What shall we do? We have to find a way to do something about it. [51:10] We have to do something about your leaking tank. Tell somebody that the pastor is talking to you. Tell them that God is speaking to you. Do something about your leaking tank. If you really want to take off into the orbit. [51:25] If you really want to take it to orbit. If you really want to take it to orbit. If you really want to take it to orbit. Do something about your leaking tank. Do something about your leaking tank. Do something about your leaking tank. Do something. You can choose to do it or not do it. It doesn't affect you. [51:50] Your future is in your hands. You can choose to fly high or you can choose to be grounded. But when I look at you, you have the status to fly high. [52:08] But not everybody who has the status to fly high, flies high. Because sometimes you have your association and your friends and you are so soft on yourself. [52:20] Verse 3. Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit. Keep the unity of the Spirit. Say unity. [52:31] Unity. Not uniformity. It's unity. Unity. Which I explained to you last week. The oneness of the Spirit with a board of peace. Let's move to verse 4. Wow. Verse 4 says that there is one body. [52:43] Say one body. One body. Let's say it to the other. One body. Say it louder. One body. Do you know who wrote this? Paul. Hmm? Apostle Paul. [52:54] Apostle Paul wrote this. Paul was called to explain what the body of Christ is. It's he who Ephesians chapter 1 verse 21-22 talks about we are being built into a holy temple. [53:07] Actually chapter 2 verse 20-22. It said into a holy temple that grows. Paul spoke about how we are being built into a temple. Into a habitation of God. Being built together into a habitation of God. [53:20] Is it not what Stephen spoke about? Yeah. That the temple which Solomon built is not it. Wow. Then Paul is now telling people that this is the temple God has wanted from Adam. [53:32] Wow. The reason why God called Abraham is this temple. It's Paul who in Galatians chapter 3 verse the scriptures and the scripture foreseeing that God will justify the hidden through faith. [53:44] Preach the gospel. Preach the gospel. Preach before the gospel. The gospel. The gospel. Paul said the gospel of prayer to Abraham. Stephen affected him. Hmm. Stephen affected him. He saw what people couldn't see in scripture. [53:57] So he couldn't kick against them. That's why when he now stepped into his ministry, he started teaching these things that Stephen tried to explain. Wow. Wow. [54:08] That's how much Stephen hates that man. So Stephen, as it were, is the mentor of Paul. Wow. Yeah. [54:19] Stephen stands in a unique place in history. But through him, the early church saw church growth. Through him, the early church saw worldwide evangelism. [54:32] He died evangelism. Through him, the early church got Paul. Paul. Paul. I'm going to get Paul, but I need Stephen. I need Stephen. I need Stephen. I need Stephen. I need Stephen. [54:43] To open the scriptures for Paul in a way he cannot deny. So now when Paul became born again, all his teaching was to explain the Old Testament. Stephen did it for him. [54:55] Right. Jesus did it for the disciples. In Luke chapter 24, from verse 24, it says that you are slow of heart to believe all the prophets have said. [55:12] Out north the Messiah to have suffered these things and to have entered into his glory. And the Bible said, and from Moses, he began to explain. And from, and beginning at Moses, through all the prophets, in every corner of scripture, he began to expound onto them. [55:28] That's what Stephen did. And Paul's teaching was not different from explaining the New Testament in the Old Testament. And he said, I'm not teaching anything new. [55:40] And he said, he said, he said, he said, chapter 24, Acts chapter 24, verse 14. 14. He says that what they call sect, cult, don't mind us who say we are cult. [55:54] What they call, those people are calling me cult. But this I confess, that according to the way which they call sect, so I worship the God of our fathers. [56:07] So I am in true worship, but they say it's sect. They say it's cult, but it's true worship. How do I know it's true worship? Believing all things which were written in the law and in the prophets. [56:19] I didn't deny any of that. Everything written, I believe it, and that's what I'm expressing. Yes. He said, I am a son of a Pharisee. [56:32] Paul said, I am a son of a Pharisee concerning the resurrection of the hope of the resurrection of the I'm being accused. He said, but Paul, but when Paul perceived that part of Sadducees and he cried out in the council, men and brethren, I am a Pharisee and a son of a Pharisee concerning the hope of the resurrection of the dead, I am being judged. [56:56] He said, the things that the hope of our fathers, the hope our fathers lived for, that's what I'm living for. Why are you trying to kill me? So he said, what I'm doing is not new to the Old Testament. [57:08] It's actually central to the Old Testament. Stephen touched that before they killed him. That's Stephen. That's Stephen. Paul, when you listen to Paul, you can hear Stephen in Paul. [57:21] No wonder when he finished, he says, I'll give you a standing ovation. He said, stood up on his feet. He said, you have done a good job. The heavens was open and the Son of Man was standing, was standing, not seated. [57:36] Standing, standing, standing for a man. And he said, how did he start his message? When they asked him, have you got any, are these things so? [57:47] Stephen says that the God of glory appeared. So when they are about to kill him, the last words he uttered, few last words, he said, I see. [57:59] He says that. But him being full of the Holy Ghost, gazed into heaven and saw what Abraham saw. What brought Abraham into existence? [58:10] Stephen flogged into it. You kill him, you can't be bothered. He has seen something that stones cannot undermine. Hey, Bible said, he looked to heaven and saw the glory of God. [58:24] Bible says, the God of glory appeared to Abraham. That's how this whole thing started. That's how Stephen's preaching. He says that men and brethren, let me tell you, the God of glory appeared to our father Abraham, when he lived in the land of the Mesopotamia and moved to Haran. [58:40] God of glory. Now he says that, Bible says, I see. He saw the heavens open and he saw the heavens open and saw human being on earth saw the glory of God. [58:53] Glory of God. He testified so well, glory burst on him. Glory burst on him. So the glory, and he, for the first time, when Jesus resurrected, no one has seen him when he went to heaven. [59:08] But Stephen saw the son of man standing at the right hand. Because he went and seated at the right hand. So he didn't change positions. It's in your Bible. [59:21] Hebrews chapter 12. It's there. Verse 1 and 2. Sitting at the right hand. Hebrews chapter 1, verse 2. Sitting at the right hand. Ephesians 1, verse 20. He sits at the right hand of the majesty. [59:33] He sat there. He's there. Raising from the dead and seated him at the right hand. Right hand. Hebrews chapter 8, verse 1. Right hand. He sat at the right hand. [59:45] For the first time, Stephen saw him standing at the right hand. He didn't change positions, but he had to get up. Stood up. Because he said, finally, Paul cannot run away from this. [59:58] Because he's been looking for Paul. Because God has chosen Paul from his mother's womb. From his mother's womb. [60:08] He said to Jeremiah, before I formed you in your mother's womb, I knew you. Before I formed you. Jeremiah 1.5. Before I formed you, I knew you. So Paul said in Galatians chapter 1, verse 15 and 16. [60:21] He said, he says that when he pleased me, when he pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb to reveal his son in me. [60:33] I did not confer with flesh and blood. When he pleased God to reveal Jesus in me. He separated him from his mother's womb and he placed a calling on him. And when the time came, he said, the only one who can do this job for me is not Peter. [60:50] The only one who can do this job for me is not Nick Arnold. He's not Paminas. He's not Nicholas. Neither is it Philip. Neither is it Timon or Prochorus. [61:02] But it's Stephen. A man full of the Holy Ghost. A man full of grace. When Stephen was coming, if Stephen steves your foot, even if the food is not enough, you eat a little, you are full. [61:15] It's like a plane, a food on a plane. The little, they put some stuff in. When you eat a little, you are full quickly. Stephen's service carried grace. [61:29] And Bible says that God did signs and wonders. He said, this Stephen, full of grace, performed. He performed it. He performed it. [61:40] He performed wonders. And then, in this day with wonders, you have to say, with signs that can point to Jesus. Signs among the people. [61:56] And synagogue people, including Saul of Tarsus, targeted him. We go out to pull this guy down. And they hired people to accuse him. [62:07] He ignored the accusation. He didn't have time to defend himself. There's too much at stake. He had to reveal the God of glory. So he left what they were talking about. [62:19] Talk, talk, talk, talk. I don't, I can't answer you. But I have something to see. Paul, there's a Paul who needs to be saved. So when, when God appeared to Paul, many years after Paul was saved, was saved, he went to Jerusalem. [62:33] and he wanted to stay there. And Paul told, God told Saul, run out of Jerusalem. Get out of here. Get out of here quickly. Saul said, no, no, no. [62:44] Paul said, no, I won't get out of here. These people, they will believe me because they knew me. They knew my history. They knew how I did this, I did this. And he said, in fact, I'm talking about Acts chapter 22 from verse 16. [62:56] And by 16 and 17, God said, leave, leave, they won't listen to your testimony. Leave the town. But Paul, they didn't believe what God was saved because how, why wouldn't they believe me? They knew me so much. Jerusalem, everybody knew me. [63:08] Knew me. God said, make it, get out of Jerusalem. They won't receive your testimony. And what did he tell God? Look at what he told God. Verse 19, I said, Lord, they know that in every synagogue I imprison and beat those who believed on you. [63:23] They know it, so they know I'm not fake. Look at, and he said, look at, when he was saying that, look at his reference, Stephen. Stephen made such an impression of him when he had encounters with God. [63:35] His reference points about his, about his church, fighting the church, was Stephen. He said, and when the blood of your martyr, Matthew, Stephen was shed, I was standing by, consenting to his death, and gathered the clothes of those who were killing him. [63:51] I was dead. What did Stephen do so that, so much that, Paul has imprisoned so many other people. but Stephen's life was something, because the message Stephen preached arrested him, and it became the foundation of his teachings. [64:10] And Paul said, walk with you, for there's one body. There's one body. [64:26] 1 Corinthians chapter 12, verse 12 and 13. Romans chapter 12, verse 5, oh, yeah, verse 5 will be fine. Romans chapter 12, verse 5. Ephesians. [64:38] Ephesians chapter 4, verse 16. Romans chapter 12, 1 Corinthians, it said, for as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body being many are one body. [64:53] There's one body. I'm talking about body of Christ. It's one. We don't have European body of Christ. We don't have Russian body of Christ. We don't have Israeli body of Christ. We don't have American body of Christ. Now that we have Chinese body of Christ and African body of Christ, it's one body. [65:08] So you are either in the body or not. He said, he said, are you a Christian? I'm a Catholic. What's the meaning of that? Are you a Christian? I'm a Methodist. What's the meaning? Are you a Christian? [65:19] No, I'm redeemed. Are you a Christian? I'm a witness. Are you a Christian? I am in that. I am in that. I'm talking about Christianity. It's one body. Whether witness, whether Catholic, whether Presby, whether Methodist, whether Seventh-day Adventist, whatever, whatever, it's one body. [65:37] One body. That's one body. Romans chapter 12, verse 5. So we being many, how many bodies? One. How many bodies? [65:49] One. There is one body, Ephesians chapter 4, verse 16. From whom the whole body jointly leads. So the whole body is jointly leads to Christ. [66:01] The whole body. It's not only one body, but the whole thing is jointly, joined and knitted together to Christ. by what every joint supplies according to the effect you're working by, which every part that has is shared causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in life. [66:20] It's just one body. All the things we are all doing, what I'm doing, this preaching I'm doing, it's building the same body you are serving in the choir is building. This preaching I'm doing is building the same body you are preaching is doing. [66:33] The same body, any great man of God, all the things you are doing. Can you imagine you are serving in some capacity in this church and what you are doing is building the same body that the Peter, Peter, Peter, Peter, all the work they did is building the same thing I'm doing. [66:49] You are in the choir. That's one body. That's why you should, every time you get anything to do in church, count it very special because you are moving yourself into the class of people like Paul, the Apostle, and Timothy, and Philip, and Stephen. [67:03] You are joining them. You don't have to be called Stephen to be in their class. One body. There's one, are you getting something? There is, there is one body. [67:15] We say cruise liners has enough food to feed people for three months. Is it called cruise ships? Cruise ships. [67:27] When you go, they are cooking different, different things. There's Italian, there's Chinese, there's Mexican. There are different, different dishes, different classes. [67:37] There's some of the cruise liners have swimming pools. Yes, some have football pitches. A cruise liner. And they have to sell food. Some have about 3,000 staff. Yes. [67:49] And who is feeding all of them? On the high seas? No, there's food inside that thing. Everything in that one body of, mass body of machinery machinery on the sea. [68:01] Food inside it. So, it's one body. And you have, you have been privileged with parts serving on this ship. Wow. One body. [68:13] And certainly, one spirit. Amen. The spirit working in me is not different from the spirit working in you as you're singing in a choir. As you do your ashes, as you work. But good news, good news. [68:25] The spirit working in you is not different from the one that works in Stephen. and Stephen a man full of the Holy Ghost is the same spirit the only thing is that your results are limited because you are not full you are being filled and you never get full because your leakage is too high you are leaking you have become like a basket hallelujah one spirit one spirit they said of Stephen that is full of the Holy Spirit they said choose people Acts chapter 6 verse 3 Acts chapter 6 verse 5 full of the Holy Spirit and Acts chapter chapter 6 verse 8 Stephen full of the Spirit full of the Spirit Spirit Spirit Spirit this thing is a spiritual thing it's the Spirit the Spirit if you ask to go and lead prayer do it in the Spirit if you have to sing sing in the Spirit some of you they are not serious the Spirit cannot flow through you because you are too carnal you are too carnal you flip you are angry you are sad you are not happy the Spirit of God can flow through you with this kind of erratic inconstant flaky unstable [69:50] I like that one pediatric demeanor you want the Holy Spirit to use you go on and get over yourself every time I think everything is about you I didn't like the way the pastor was preaching we mean business with Jesus because we have to be strong we have to be bold we have to love this land we have to love the land God never uses you to reach out to people you don't love never forget this that's why sometimes people come from other nations they can't reach out to people because you don't love them you're always complaining about them they are like this they are like this they are like this they like sex they like alcohol they like that they like that as long as you keep complaining about people God can use you to reach out to them yeah yeah yeah God never uses you to change people's lives whom you criticize hmm wow if the people you love God will use you to change them you can't reach out to them you can't reach out to them you can't reach out to them we can't be soft we have to be firm we have to be hard we have to be on fire because there is one spirit if he could use Stephen then he can use you if he could use Paul then Paul was a killer [71:11] Paul was a killer he was shutting down churches he ended up affecting the church more than anybody Stephen can I mention Stephen again oh Stephen enters a room Stephen was a man who when he entered room in the verse 15 of chapter 6 of Acts that was says that they look at his face steadily how many of you know that when someone stares at you for too long it is offensive it's offensive and in some places it's a crime but when you go to the art gallery you are supposed to be staring or sometimes the catwalk people stare but it's not natural and normal it's not acceptable for you to stare at somebody keep staring at somebody they are not a toy no it's not right when you keep staring at somebody there may be offended and upset with you you go and sit on a train you keep watching you stare at somebody he says whoa whoa whoa whoa you look at whoa you look at whoa you look at you can't be staring so you can imagine Stephen came under the gaze of everybody they were staring at [72:24] Bible said and all sat in looking steadfast steadfast looking steadfast but they stared at him rather his face changed and his face looked like the face of an angel wow feel that Stephen was not like a thermometer he was like a thermostat a thermometer reads the temperature of the room thermostat changes whoever Stephen entered as a thermostat. [72:57] Something changed. They looked at his face. Something changed in the atmosphere because he didn't come to read the atmosphere or to be like the atmosphere. He came to change the atmosphere. And I see God is raising some Stephen. [73:09] And I see God is raising some Stephen. I see God is raising some Stephen. I see God is raising some Stephen. Shelf use me love.
