[0:35] And I think I touched on it, spoke about it. And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

[0:48] So, take the helmet of salvation. Shall we all say the helmet of salvation? The helmet of salvation. Please say it again, the helmet of salvation. The helmet of salvation.

[2:56] That's when people sleep. So, it's using night season here, a sleeping season, as a metaphor. It doesn't mean people only sleep at night.

[6:02] If you want to paint something dark, you have to, you need more black. If you want to paint something bright, you need more white. It is what it is. That's color. Color.

[6:14] There's color palette. Right. So, darkness usually represents evil. Whilst light usually represents brightness.

[6:27] So, Jesus said, John 9, 5. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

[6:39] And, in Philippians chapter 2, I think verse 15. It says that, we should walk as lights in the world. That ye may be blameless and harmless sons of God without rebuke.

[6:52] In the midst of a crooked and a perverse nation. Amongst whom you shine as lights. Yes. Everywhere there is no light, people suffer.

[7:05] Wherever there is no light, people suffer. To the extent that light is used as a metaphor for understanding and insight.

[7:19] So, the light bulb has come on. I've got the light. And, in Matthew chapter 5, verse 14, it says, ye are the light of the world.

[7:31] Jesus said, as long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. But, there's quite a few places where he said, I am the light of the world. And, we are light. Now, coming back to the text. 1 Thessalonians chapter 5, verse 5.

[7:43] It says that, ye are all children of light. That's the you there. It's talking about the church. Not all human beings. Right.

[7:54] It's talking about those in the church. Ye are all the children of light. And, the children of the day. We are not of the night.

[8:06] Nor of darkness. When do you have darkness? Usually, the night. So, we are not of the night or of darkness. When we say people are of darkness.

[8:17] Just to give you a better illustration in Matthew 3, 19. Jesus said, light has come into the world. But, the works, men hate the light because they are white.

[8:29] John 3, 19. Jesus said, light has come into the world. This is the condemnation. That light has come into the world. And, men love darkness rather than light.

[8:41] Why? Light. Light. So, darkness represents evil. And, night represents evil. And, it says that we are the children of the day.

[8:56] Right. We are the children of the day. That means we have to be mindful of what we do and how we do it. We are the children of the day.

[9:06] Not purely based on what we do. But, purely based on who we are. What makes you a child of God is not your behavior first.

[9:18] But, what makes you a child of God is the nature of God you have in you. When you became born again. God lives inside you. 1 John 1, verse 6 says that.

[9:36] If you say, watch this. Let's read it. I think it's nice when we read it together. It's okay. Let's read it. Let's read it in unison. Let's go. We lie.

[9:48] And, do not the truth. Did you see that? How can you be saying, I am with God. I have. But, you walk in darkness. What does it mean to walk in darkness? It's not like when your room and light is switched off and you are walking.

[10:03] You get up at midnight. It's dark. No light is on here. You are going to the restroom. And, you are walking in darkness. You don't have fellowship with God. No, that's not what it means. Walk has to do with your conduct, your behavior.

[10:15] You behave yourself like someone who lives in darkness. Look at the next verse. If we walk in the light. So, you can walk in the light. You can walk in darkness. But, you can be a child of light and actually allow yourself to walk in darkness.

[10:30] If you walk in the light as he is in the light. God is in the light. We are fellowship one with another. And, you are in the blood of Jesus Christ. And, you are in the blood of Jesus Christ. His son cleanses us from all sin. So, you see, we can't walk in darkness.

[10:45] We walk in light. Now, in 1 Thessalonians 5, verse 5. It says that, We are children of light. We are children of light and the children of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness.

[10:58] The next verse. Therefore, let us not sleep as do others. Because, we are different from them. Let us not sleep as do others.

[11:09] But, let us watch and be sober. Sober, that means, let us exercise some level of self-control. When you are, when you lose soberness.

[11:21] Usually, that's why drunkiness is not good. How many of you have been drunk before? Yeah. Do you remember what you did when you were drunk?

[11:31] You don't remember? That's one of the things that has never happened to me. Because, I got born again very early. Because, God was thinking about you.

[11:45] Because, to be sent to be a blessing to a great generation like this. You must start early. You must start. So, some of you think that you have time. You don't have time.

[11:56] Based on your assignments. You don't have time. Start early and keep running. And, run faster. Well, so, it says that, let us not sleep as others.

[12:08] And, let us watch and be sober. Keep yourself in check. The next verse. Why? For, they that sleep, sleep in the night.

[12:21] And, they that be drinking, are drinking in the night. But, you are not of the night. You are not of the night.

[12:33] So, when we say, you are children of light. It means that, what we do is this sense. That, most of you, almost everybody here.

[12:44] You can go anywhere like this. And, you are fine. But, under another condition. You can come out here. Because, your presentation is not good. Children of light are not afraid of anyone investigating them.

[12:58] But, the children of darkness. They don't want light to come there. People who do dodgy things. The last thing they want is openness.

[13:12] Darkness means undercover. Light means openness. So, we are the children of openness. Because, there is nothing to hide. We are the children of day.

[13:25] Say, I am a child of the day. I am a child of the day. Say, we are children of the day. We are children of the day. So, he said, ye are all the children of light.

[13:35] And, children of the day. We are not of the night. Nor of darkness. Now, let's go to the next verse. Therefore.

[13:47] Therefore. Because, we are not children of darkness. Therefore, let us not sleep as others. But, let us watch and be sober.

[14:01] In other words. Some people might be behaving as if we are doing some things. And, to them it is not a problem. But, to you it is a problem. You can't do that. Because, you can't sleep.

[14:12] You are not in the dark to be sleeping. You can't sleep. In other words. You can't operate in a way that only is appropriate under darkness.

[14:23] When nursing mothers' children are hungry. Decent nursing mothers find a way of breastfeeding in an environment that is decent.

[14:42] Right? Because, you can't do some of these things like someone who is asleep. Because, we are children of. Because, we are the children of the day.

[14:55] We have to be sober. And, watch. In other words. Keep your eyes open and be intentional. We are the children of the day. seen it. You are making it work for you.

[15:36] It's fantastic. Fire can do a lot of things. We shouldn't let our appetite be our masters. Your appetite shouldn't be your master.

[15:50] Tell somebody, your appetite shouldn't lead you. Your appetite shouldn't lead you. Back to the text. Let's go to verse 8. But let us who are of the day be sober.

[16:07] You see the argument there? It's talking more about a particular type of people we are. Number one, we are children of light.

[16:19] Number two, we are children of the day. Number three, we walk in light. We walk in the day. And we cannot walk in darkness. So we do it with, we watch and we are sober.

[16:31] So then eventually he says that, but let us who are of the day be sober. Putting on see the breastplate of faith and love.

[16:46] In Ephesians he said the breastplate of righteousness. Now he says that the breastplate of faith and love in the day. Because we are children of the day, we have to put on the breastplate.

[17:01] When you go and fight, it's your breastplate of righteousness. By your normal day-to-day life, it's your breastplate of, let faith protect your heart.

[17:13] Breastplate of faith and let love guard your decisions. He says, let us put on the helmet of salvation. What is entering your mind must be guarded.

[17:29] Helmet protects attacks on your mind. Images that are not supposed to get into you. Thoughts that are supposed to, Satan likes injecting anxiety into your mind.

[17:40] Injecting trouble into your mind. Injecting negativity into your mind. Injecting failure into your mind. That this thing will not work. This thing will not work. I don't think I'll go anywhere. I don't think life will work for me.

[17:50] I don't think I can do this cause. I don't think I'll, Satan, you gotta learn how to protect your mind by wearing the helmet of salvation.

[18:01] More, more especially, this is helmet of salvation. Concerning your salvation, there are some people, once you start befriending them, you are about to lose your place in church. You are out of here because of your friends.

[18:20] When it says the helmet of salvation, it means what protects your work with God, one, and number two, the fact that you are saved because you are not a child of darkness has protective elements in it.

[18:42] It's guarding your thinking. A lot of people are, listen to this, you will like this, some of you are coming from bad homes. When I say bad homes, marriages don't work. But now that you are born again, that mindset that spoils marriage, that salvation has a way of protecting your mind.

[19:06] I get it. When you walk with God, when you walk with Jesus, the mere fact that you are saved affords you some insights. salvation, there is a helmet that came with your salvation.

[19:20] Some of you, since you became born again, God has spared you. You are so happy, you are not that stupid anymore. It's called the helmet of salvation.

[19:35] Ephesians 6, 17. And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit. Which sword is the word of God?

[19:52] You can't fight demons with boldness. You don't fight demons with common sense. You don't fight devils with social media tweets.

[20:04] You fight them with the sword of the spirit. If you are protected, if you are covered on your belt of truth is in place, breastplate of righteousness is in place, shoes of the gospel, preparation of the gospel is in place, and your helmet of salvation is in place, and you don't have the sword, you can't attack the enemy.

[20:30] All you have to do is try to defend yourself. You always have to live a defensive life, but sometimes you have to tell Satan, get deep behind me, Satan. A Christian who doesn't have the word of God living in him is as weak as an unbeliever.

[20:49] Let me put it another way. How many of you agree with me that there's no difference between a seeing man, a man who can see, walking in deep darkness, in darkness, and a blind man in the light?

[21:06] There's no difference. If you can see and you are in darkness, you are like a blind man. There's no difference between a seeing man in the dark and a blind man in the light.

[21:19] If you are in the day, and if you are in Christ and in the light, then walk in the light with your eyes open, and what gives you your sight is the word of God.

[21:33] Jesus said, if the light of your body is single, your whole body will be full of light. The point here is this. The word of God is your only weapon that can chase the enemy out of your life.

[21:50] Not, this is going to be slightly interesting, not just prayer from a pastor, but the word of God in your heart.

[22:02] Psalm 1, 1, 9, verse, 1, 1. Thy word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin.

[22:15] How many of you, are you struggling with sin, temptation? The enemy is after your peace. The enemy is after your life.

[22:28] The enemy is after your spiritual growth. The enemy is after your stand in the Lord. Satan has seen your interest in things of God and is determined to fight you.

[22:42] But all it takes is the word of God in your heart. You don't want to sin? It said, thy word have I hid in my heart.

[22:54] Why? That I might. It's simple, it's simple, it's there. Thy word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against you because lust is after your life.

[23:11] Man of God! Woman of God, lust, is after your anointing.

[23:25] Wow. lust, is after your anointing. Lust, is after your anointing.

[23:37] Woman of God, you are going to be great in the Lord. But Satan, say, you are going to be great in the Lord. Say, you are going to be great in the Lord.

[23:48] But lust, is after girl, lust, is after your oil. lust. Satan is no respecter.

[24:03] Lust, is there I won't let you go. When you are saying, I won't go back, lust, you say, I won't let you go. You are not going. And sometimes, lust can jump on you.

[24:17] Lust, is after your anointing. So, take the sword of the spirit. Fight it.

[24:30] Fight it. In the book of Peter, it says that, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war, it's serious.

[24:41] That's already out. Let's go. Tell somebody, you are at war.

[24:55] Yeah. Lust is more terrible than Taliban. Give us different versions and I'm done. Let's read it from the ESV. You are not at peace.

[25:17] You know what is interesting? When you're a Christian and you genuinely love Jesus, but you've been compromised and sometimes you are not happy. Every Christian who gets compromised never is happy.

[25:30] Maybe God said, don't eat the food and you feel disappointed with God. you went to kiss somebody. Sometimes you feel like the edge will open for it to swallow you. Oh, you are not, those in the dark, they sleep, it doesn't matter.

[25:44] But because you are not a child of darkness, when things are, you are disturbed, you are disturbed, you are disturbed. But I came here as an angel of light to come and tell you, don't worry, just take the sword of the spirit, wear your helmet and let's fight this last thing.

[26:03] You are not, a bad person, you are no worse, you are not a hypocrite, you are just a saint under attack, last full attack. Let's renew LT and then we're done.
