Corporate Consecration message based on James 4:1-10

Tonight, at 9 pm, our week of Corporate Consecration starts. This morning's sermon is designed to help us individually and corporately to prepare and posture our hearts to seek the Lord this week. The sermon is based on a passage taken from a very plain speaking book of the Bible, the book of James. In the passage, James corrects sinful conduct that we are sometimes comfortable with and calls us to draw near to God. This counsel to draw near to God is especially appropriate for us as a church as we begin our week of Corporate Consecration. Let’s posture our hearts to hear from the Lord this morning and this week.

Community is a word that is familiar to most people because it is commonly used. We talk about the international community, the Caribbean community, local communities, school communities, etc. We also talk about church community. Is church community any different from all the other communities that we are familiar with? And if it’s different, what is different? One of our 2016 corporate resolutions as a church is to grow in community. Today’s message seeks to explore what biblical community is, in addition to suggesting ways in which we as a church can grow. Let’s open and posture our hearts to hear from God’s word this morning.

Message on the second Corporate Resolution - Gathering, based on Hebrews 10:19-25

One of our 2016 church resolutions is to grow in gathering together. This means that, as a church family, we want to grow in the priority that we place on gathering to worship and serve the Lord corporately on Sunday mornings, in Care Group, and through corporate prayer. The goal of today’s message is to renew the call for us to commit to grow in gathering together and to help us to see from God’s word why we should do so in an increasing way. Let’s posture our hearts to heed this call, asking the Lord to use it to help us to grow in gathering together 2016.

Message on the first Corporate Resolution - Prayer, based on Colossians 4:2-4

Prayer is a vital part of the Christian life. However, for many Christians, it is one of the most difficult parts of the Christian life. Yet, time and time again, Scripture calls God’s people to pray. In recognition of this call and the need in our church family, one of our 2016 church resolutions is to grow in praying together. The purpose of this morning’s message is to help us to answer the call to pray. Colossians 4:2-4 is one of those passages that calls us to pray. It is a simple but profound call. Let’s posture our hearts to hear this call, asking the Lord to use it to help us to be people of prayer.

Church Resolutions 2016

Most of us are familiar with personal resolutions. Perhaps, like many people, you have made personal resolutions for 2016. In a similar way, having concluded our week of Corporate Consecration, during which time we sought the Lord personally and corporately as a local church, today Pastor Moss will be sharing with us some corporate resolutions for our church family. As you will see, these resolutions are really not just to be followed this year but are to be embraced as ongoing biblical values for us as a church family. So, may the Lord enable us to embrace and live out these resolutions together throughout 2016 and beyond.
