Welcome back. Session number three. Time goes fast, right? It's getting better. All right. [0:16] A few things before we get started. Does anyone need a book? Anyone not have? Because we have extras now. Come up and help yourself. Anyone else? [0:41] Okay. And so again, for your information, it's getting recorded and they're doing a video. So they're seeing the backs of your heads maybe. Today we're going to try something different. [0:59] We're going to, we're training you guys to not be scared of the mic. And so we're going to use this cordless mic. [1:12] And when we're reading the scriptures, we're going to pass this around. And so you're going to be talking to the mic. It's not coming over the speakers, but it's getting recorded. [1:24] Because we found even last, last week we hung up the two mics and that didn't do it. And so people that are tuning in or wanting to see it after, they can't hear the readings or your questions. [1:37] So are we willing to try that? Okay. You bet. All right. Anything else that we need to cover? [1:56] Okay. Again, there's spare books here if anybody needs one. We have a bunch of extras this time. So if you need one, help yourself. Come up and grab one. And pens and pencils up front here as well. [2:09] Someone needs one? Okay. Let's open in prayer. Gracious Father, we again, we're privileged. We thank you for the opportunity to gather, to be here, and to further this teaching on you, Christ, in the Gospels. [2:30] And so again, Lord, we thank you for your presence. And we just invite you, Lord, to teach us, to show us truth. And Lord, enable us to grasp it not only in our heads, but in our hearts. [2:46] Committing this class to you, in Jesus' name. Amen. Amen. All right. [2:58] So last week, we stopped on with John the Baptist. [3:13] And just let me turn there. So it's the ministry of John the Baptist. So C1. It would have been page 4. [3:34] So we had looked at John the Baptist, a little bit about his ministry, that he was a forerunner to Christ. [3:45] It was prophesied that he would come as a type of Elijah. And we'll speak more of that on a later lesson on, was he actually Elijah or was he a type of Elijah? [4:03] Because Scripture does say Elijah has to come before the end. And so John the Baptist came preaching a message of repentance. [4:16] The word of the Lord had come to him after 400 years of silence. And so he came on the scene. The people are hungry to hear from God. [4:28] And God has prepared the way. And so John is out there preaching and baptizing upon the confession of their sins. [4:40] And so, again, he's a relative to Christ. And he was six months older. And also pointed to Jesus in everything he did. [4:59] It's very important. John recognized, this is not about me. It's about Jesus Christ. And so that's kind of very briefly who John was. [5:13] So then we're going to bump down to number two. The ministry of Jesus Christ. And so we've had his baptism. [5:25] Not his baptism. His journey as a 12-year-old up to Jerusalem. And then coming back to Nazareth in submission to mom and dad. [5:36] Till he was age 30. And then he appears again now in public ministry. And he comes to John near the Jordan where John is baptizing. [5:51] And Jesus comes there. And that's what we're going to pick up here. So why don't we read one of those. [6:03] There's three references there. Why don't we read the account in Matthew chapter 3. And we'll read 1 to 12. [6:29] And Charlie, you get to be our first victim. And so. Chapter 3, 1 to 12. Yeah. And just read a portion of it if you want. And pass it on. [6:39] Or as much as you're comfortable with. And when you're done reading, just put the mic down on a chair beside you. Whoever it ends up. I'll hand it to somebody. Yeah. Thank you. In those days, John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness of Judea. [6:55] And saying, Repent. For the kingdom of heaven is at hand. For this is he who was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare the way of the Lord. [7:11] Make his paths straight. Now John himself was clothed in camel's hair, With a leather belt around his waist, And his food was locusts and wild honey. [7:22] Then Jerusalem, all Judea, and all the region around the Jordan, Went out to him, And they were baptized by him in the Jordan, Confessing their sins. [7:34] But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, He said to them, Brood of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? [7:48] Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance. And do not think to say to yourselves, We have Abraham as our father. For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones. [8:00] And even now the axe is laid to the root of the trees. Therefore every tree which does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into fire. We're going to read right through the 17. [8:16] I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, But he who is coming after me is mightier than I, Whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. [8:26] He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. His winnowing fan is in his hand, And he will thoroughly clean out his threshing floor, And gather his wheat into the barn, But he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire. [8:46] Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him. And John tried to prevent him, saying, I need to be baptized by you, and are you coming to me? [9:02] But Jesus answered and said to him, Permit it to be so now, For thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness. Then he allowed him. When he had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water. [9:16] And behold, the heavens were opened to him. And he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, And a lightning upon him. And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. [9:31] Okay, thank you. So we read a little extra there. I had my scriptures mixed up, But the last part there is what we needed. [9:43] But we see that already, When he is baptizing, John is actively promoting Jesus Christ. I baptize you with water, But there's one coming who will baptize you With the Holy Spirit, And with fire. [10:00] And whose sandals I'm not worthy to loose. And so he speaks highly of Jesus As the coming Messiah. [10:12] And so John recognizing that. And then, having said that, Then verse 13, And then Jesus came from Galilee To John at the Jordan To be baptized by him. [10:26] So what did John Think or feel When Jesus, Whom he had just Elevated As coming from God, Come to him To be baptized? [10:48] Unworthy. That's probably the one word that describes it, right? Unworthy. Yeah. Absolutely. Unworthy. And so, As we consider that, I'm not going to hang up on this piece a lot, But why did Jesus Come for baptism? [11:11] As an example. Okay. To fulfill the scriptures. Okay. Well, Jesus did say there To fulfill all righteousness. [11:25] Which would be the law. Okay. Any other reasons? Without summing up. [11:39] Okay. Okay. I had a few more. It It marked the start of his ministry. [11:56] And John later says, During the baptism Is when I Fully understood That this was the Son of God. Because of the voice that came down. [12:11] And so So it's to recognize Christ's ministry. Jesus Getting baptized Identified Himself With us With sinners. [12:35] He He lowered Himself To our level. Right Right from day one In His ministry. And He identified with humanity. [12:46] So He wasn't a cut above In His attitude. Even though He was a cut above. Right? In moral purity. In His stature. [12:58] But He He identified with mankind. And And also There was an anointing At His baptism By the Holy Spirit. [13:10] And So As we As we read In verse 16 When He had been baptized Jesus came up Immediately from the water Behold The heavens were opened To Him And He saw The Spirit of God Descending upon Him Like a dove And alighting on Him The anointing Marking Him As As Anointed by God And then the voice And suddenly a voice Came from heaven Saying This is my beloved son In whom I am well pleased And so the testimony Of that Right That To hear A voice from heaven John would have heard And those around This is my beloved son In whom I am well pleased Okay So that's That's God's First Public [14:11] Witness As to who His son is Is right at the start Of His ministry It's a public witness By By the Father Right Coming Directly out of heaven And so Does it get any stronger Than that? [14:32] Or any more clear? That God can indicate To us Who is this guy? This Jesus Okay And John John 1 Which verse was it? [14:50] 33 Just emphasizing here John 1 33 Says I did not know him It's John speaking But he who sent me To baptize with water Said to me Upon whom you see The spirit descending And remaining on him This is he Who baptizes With the Holy Spirit And I have seen And testify That testify That this is The son of God So for John That was the The ultimate Proof Because God had said Of whom you see The spirit Descending This is my son And so John Without Without a doubt He was very clear now As to Christ's identity So as [15:50] As these ministries begin John's and Jesus's God takes precaution To make very clear What is happening So that people Understand Okay There's a verse In Acts 10 38 As well That That speaks of Jesus being Anointed By the Holy Spirit At his baptism I won't turn there But Acts If you want to Write that down Acts 10 38 Next 10 38 Okay So that's That's his His baptism And then The ministry of Jesus His temptations And so we We were followed Right away With With Jesus After being [16:50] Baptized Was led Into temptation And so we're Going to read Matthew 4 1 to 11 So Okay Then Jesus Was led up By the Spirit Into the wilderness To be tempted By the devil And when he Had fasted Forty days Forty nights Afterward He was hungry Now when the Temptor Came to him He said If you are The son of God Command That these Stones Become bread But he Answered And said It is Written Man shall Not live By bread Alone But by Every word That proceeds From the Myth of God Then the Devil Took him Up Into the Holy City Set him On the Pinnacle Of the Temple And said To him If you Are the Son of God Throw Yourself Down For it Is Written He Shall Give His Angels Charge Over You And in Their [17:51] Hands They Shall Bear You Up Lest You Dash Your Foot Against The Stone Jesus Said To him It is Written Again You Shall Not Tempt The Lord Your God Again The Devil Took Him Up On An Exceedingly High Mountain And Showed Him All The Kingdoms Of The World And Their Glory And He Said To Him All These Things I Will Give You If You Will Fall Down And Worship Me Then Jesus Said To Him Away With You Satan For It Is Written You Shall Worship The Lord Your God And Him Only You Shall Serve Then The Devil Left Him And Behold Angels Came And Ministered To Him God Okay So Then After His Baptism It Says Jesus Was Led Up By The Spirit Into The Wilderness To Be Tempted [18:51] By The Devil By Satan And So The Spirit Here Is A Reference To The Spirit Of God Not Not To The Devil Himself But So It Was It Was God Leading Jesus Into The Wilderness To Go Through A Time Of Temptation Of Trial And It's It's Believed That That He Went A Little Bit West From The River There's A Name Here Not On Our Map But It's Thought To Be In Quarantania Is A Little Place It's In The So This Is The Jordan River And This Is Where They Were Baptizing And It Was Just West Of Jericho Up In Here Is Where Up In The Mountain It's [19:52] All Dry Mountainous Area Or Very Hilly And So That's Where He Is Believed To Have Gone That's What The Jews Hold To Whatever And When We Were In Israel We Visited That Area As One Of The Sites Where Abraham And His Journeys Had Pitched His Tent And If You Remember That Was Desert It Was Up High But It Was Desert There Was Hardly Anything Growing There So That That Would Have Been The Location Of His Temptation So Forty Days He Was In The Wilderness Without Food And Scripture Says That And After Forty Days He Was Hungry And So Forty Days Of Doing What Wrestling With The Devil It Sounds Like That Came After Right [20:56] He Was In Sync With His Father So When We Fast Do We Not Tune In To God On A Deeper Level And So Jesus Would Have Done That Here Too And It Was A Time Of Connecting With God Fully To The To The Utmost I Would Say There Seems To Be A Pattern With Forty Days Is That Not What Moses Did When He Went Up To Receive The Law Up On On Mount Sinai He Was Up There Forty Days And Then God Gave Him The Two Tablets Right And And Then Elijah Was Forty Days In The Wilderness After He Fled From Jezebel After He Proved [21:56] That The Baals Were False And That God Was Real And Then He Ran For His Life Well He Spent Forty Days Recuperating And Connecting With God And Yeah It sounded Like He ran Away With A pity Party And And God Turned Him Around And Got His Attention Again Built Him Up If you Remember The Ravens Brought Him A Morsel To Eat And So On But Forty Days Again So There's Something With Forty Days In That I'm Not Suggesting That Any Of Us Fast For Forty Days That's That's If You Do That It's Because God Is Providing For You Because Most Of Us Actually In Human Endurance I think Forty Days Without Food Is About Max [22:56] Right Charlie You Might Know That Better That's What I've Kind Of Heard Then It Gets Yeah It Gets Dicey Right Okay So Why Did Jesus Need To Be Tempted Relate To Us Okay Okay We Know The Outcome Of The Temptations Right So What Did Jesus Show With Being Tempted That He Could Overcome So I've Got A Different Word For It He He Showed He Demonstrated His Moral Right To Be The Messiah His Moral Right So [23:56] Moral Purity Not Caving Caving Caving Caving Caving To Temptation Step In His Step In His Ministry After being Baptized Was that trial To prove That he had The moral strength In God To overcome And if he would have Failed there God's plan would have Not been able to go forward Right So that's Very Very Very Important There That we See Jesus Even There Showed That morally He was The one All right So he went Through Three temptations The first one He was hungry And the devil Commanded him To Or ask him To command That these stones Become bread And Jesus [24:57] Says With scripture That Man does not Live on bread Alone But by every word That proceeds From the mouth Of God And this is This is often Equated To the three Temptations In In the Book of John The gospel Of John Not the gospel The letter Of John First John Two There's the lust Of the flesh And the pride Of life And the lust Of the eyes Those three Temptations Are in John Two Fifteen Sixteen And so I think They're modeled Here as well What Jesus Endured That When He Answered The devil Because of His hunger He says Or he was He was combating The lust Of the flesh Where Satan Tempted Jesus To use His deity [25:57] To gratify His appetite The lust Of the flesh And Jesus Says It is written Man shall Not live On bread Alone And So It wasn't Wrong for Jesus to Eat But But in The context To command These rocks To become Bread Because of His hunger And just To prove It to Satan And Jesus Says He rose Above that Okay The second Temptation It was We took Him up To a Temple Peak And He said Throw Yourself Down And the Angel Will Catch You Right And They will Bear You up And protect You And And so That That temptation What did Jesus respond There It is written You shall not Tempt The Lord Your God And If [26:59] If If Jesus Would have Gone to the Top of the Temple And Jumped Down And And And Expected His Father To send Angels To catch Him It would Be For an Earthly Glory It would Be It would be For no other Purpose But But To bring Glory To Him Right There In a In a Way That wasn't Godly And so That is The Jesus had No need To receive Earthly Glory And so That was The pride Of life And so When we In pride Of life We We want To receive Glory To be Recognized That's that Second Temptation Okay And then Thirdly The Satan Takes Him Up To a High Mountain And shows Him The kingdoms Of the World And And he Says If [27:59] If If You Bow Down And worship Me All these Will be Yours And So Satan Is Of course Attacking In a Weak Time After Forty Days Of Fasting And Jesus Responds Away With You Satan It Is Written You Shall Worship The Lord Your God And Him Alone You Shall Serve Right And And so He again Responded In In a Spiritual Way Overcoming Any Temptation And that Would be The lust Of the Eyes To see The kingdoms Of this World And And he Overcame That So Jesus Will Inherit All The Kingdoms Right It's Promised It's All Going To Be His And so [28:59] He Didn't Need This From Satan Well Does Satan Have Are These Kingdoms Satan's To Give What is His Domain Script Knows His Destiny He He Is The God Of This Age So He Controls Largely The Kingdoms Of This World During This Time Period And And In A Sense What God Commanded Adam And Eve Is To Rule And When We Bowed Down To Satan In The Garden Of Eden And And Surrendered To Him And Disobeyed God In A Sense We Allowed Him To [30:00] Take Over That Ruling So There Is That Aspect Of It That We Knuckled Under Satan By Making Him Kind Of Our God There And Yet God Is In Control Of These Physical Kingdoms To This Very Day It's God That Keeps The Sun Moving And Everything In Place It's Not Satan But The Spiritual Or The Evil I Guess Of This World System That's His Control So In That Sense It Wasn't His To Give Anyway All Right So Just A Few Thoughts On This The A Few Thoughts By Campbell Morgan The [31:03] He Says The Devil Challenged The First Man Adam The Second Adam Challenged The Devil Okay So The First Adam Was Challenged By The Devil And The Second Adam Challenged The Devil He Reversed It The Devil Ruined The First Adam The Second Adam Ruined The Devil The First Adam Involved The Human Race And His Defeat Everybody Has The Nature Of Adam A Fallen Sinful Nature In Adam And The Second Adam Included The Entire Human Race In His Victory [32:03] That He Died For The Entire Human Race And So We See See The Two Comparisons Right I Might Put That Up On The Board During Our Break To Write That Down All Right Any Thoughts Or Questions On On His Temptations There So Then Scripture Says No Temptation Has Overtaken You That Is Common To Man And Jesus Christ Has Been There He Can Identify With Each One Of Us And So So Not Only Did He Prove His Moral Goodness To Overcome But He He Identified With Us And So Today When I'm Tempted Jesus Understands And [33:05] He Has Made A Way Out For Us Always Yeah And The Angels Came And Ministered To Him Yeah Absolutely And They Are Ministering Spirits According To Hebrews One For Those Who Inherit Salvation So They're God's Angels For That Purpose Yeah Ministering Spirits Yeah How Many Angels Do We Have That Minister To Us Sunday Morning We Read How Many Angels Were There Very Big Number Right Yeah Much Bigger [34:05] Number Than The Human Population And If Those Angels Are Created As Ministering Spirits To Minister To Those Who Inherit Salvation How Many Believers Are On Earth And The Angels Are Serving Protecting And We We Tend To Not See That And Because It's In The Spiritual Realm We're Not As Conscious Of It But It's There And So It's It's Comforting To Know That That God Has That System In Place Okay Let's Move On To See His Identification By John The Baptist And Let's Turn To John 1 19 To 36 So It's The Ministry Of Jesus It Starts With His Baptism Then Temptation And Then Back [35:06] To John And So He's He's Going Back Across The Jordan To Where John Is John Chapter 1 19 To 36 Is The Testimony Of John When The Jews Sent Priests And Levites From Jerusalem To Ask Him Who Are You He Confessed And Did Not Deny But Confessed I Am The Christ And They Asked Him What Then Are You Elijah He Said I Am Not Are You Prophet And He Said And He Answered No And They Said To Him Who Are You That We May Give An Answer To Those Who Sent Us What Do You Say About Yourself He Said I Am The Voice Of One Crying In The Wilderness Make Straight The Way Of The Lord As The Prophet Isaiah said The [36:20] Pharisees Who Had Been Sent Asked Him If You Are The Messiah Or Elijah Or The Prophet What Right Do You Have To Baptize John Told Them I Baptize With Water But Right Here In The Crowd Is Someone You Do Not Recognize Through This Ministry Follows Mine I Am Not Even Worthy To Be His Slave And Untie The Straps Of His Sandals This All Happened At Bethany On The Other Side Of Jordan Where John Was Baptizing The Next Day John Saw Jesus Coming Toward Him And Said Look The Lamb Of God Who Takes Away The Sin Of The World This Is The One I Me When I Said A Man Who Comes After Me Has Surpassed Me Because He [37:20] Was Before Me I Myself Did Not Know Him But The Reason I Came Baptizing With Water Was That He Might Be Revealed To Israel Then John Gave This Testimony I Saw The Spirit Come Down From Heaven As A Dove And Remain On Him I Would Not Have Known Him Except That The One Who Sent Me To Baptize With Water Told Me The Man On Whom You See The Spirit Come Down And Remain As The One Who Baptized With The Holy Spirit I Have Seen And I Testify That This Is The Son Of God The Next Day John Was There Again With Two Of His Disciples When He Saw Jesus Passing By He Said Look The Lamb Of God Okay Thank You So So Right After The Temptation Coming Back To Beth Abara Where John Was Baptizing And John Is The First To Now After The Baptism Publicly [38:20] Proclaim Who Jesus Is And And So To The Disciples He Clearly Says Behold The Lamb Of God The Lamb Of God Who Takes Away The Sin Of The World And This Is He Who Baptizes With The Holy Spirit I Have Seen And Testify That This Is The Son Of God So Numerous Times In This Passage He Emphasizes Who Jesus Is To His Followers And So Some Of Them After Will Learn Leave John And Start Following Jesus John And And And But He He Announces To Them Very Clearly Who Who John Is And So The Father The Father Is Is Very Clear Here That As Jesus Begins His Ministry That That There Will Be Clarity Right [39:20] From The Get Go That People Can Can If They're Thinking Understand Who Is This And And So Right Right From His Baptism It's Been Announced This Is The Son Of God This Is The Messiah That Moses Talked About And And So Challenging People To Engage To Think To Read The Scriptures Could This Be And To To Settle That In Their Hearts And John Was A Believer And Some Of The Others That Followed Turned Into Believers And And Yet Many Many Refused To Acknowledge Or To Think It Through And So As We'll Find Later He He Was Largely Rejected Instead Of Accepted And [40:20] Yet Very Clearly He Is Identified Here So That's That's The Start Of His Ministry The Next Section Goes Into The Authentication Of The Messiah So Again God Is Going To In Various Ways Make Very Clear That This This This Jesus Is Authentic He's Real He Is The True One And And And So After Our Break Here We Have Eight I Think It's Eight Points We're Going To Go Through Just In The Next Months That Follow That All All Over Israel Jesus Will Be Made known And God Will Show All Of Israel This Is My Son So [41:21] Right At The Get Go God Does This Deliberately Intentionally So Why Don't We Take A Few Minutes About Ten Two So It Gives You Seven Minutes Grab A Coffee And Come Back Down And We'll Get Going All Right So Now That We're All Sweetened Up We're Going To Have A Better Second Half Right It's Going To Be Sweeter Yet I Was Going To Say Sweet And Sour But I Don't Think The Sour Was There All Right So The Next The Next Section Then Is Is The Authentication Of The Messiah And The Acceptance Of His Person As The Messiah And Number One Is By His By The First Disciples And John 1 35 [42:23] To 51 So We're In John 1 We Were We're Going To Continue Reading From Verse 35 To The End Of The Chapter So Where Did Our Mic End Up Where Okay Test John 1 35 Again The Next Day John Stood With Two Of His Disciples And Looking At Jesus As He Walked He Said Behold The Lamb Of God The Two Disciples Heard Him Speak And They Followed Jesus Then Jesus Turned And Seeing Them Following Said To Them What Do You Seek They Said To Him Rabbi Which Is To Say When Translated Teacher Where Are You Staying He [43:29] Said To Them Come And See They Came And Saw Where He Was Staying And Remained With Him That Day Now It Was About The Tenth Hour One Of The Two Who Heard John Speak And Followed Him Was Andrew Simon Peter's Brother He First Found His Own Brother Simon And Said To Him We Have Found The Messiah Which Is Translated The Christ And He Brought Him To Jesus Now When Jesus Looked At Him He Said You Are Simon The Son Of Jonah You Shall Be Called Cepheus Which Is Translated A Stone The Following Day Jesus Wanted To Go To Galilee And He Found Philip And Said To Him Follow Me Now Philip Was From Bethsaida The City Of Andrew And Peter Philip Found Nathanael And Said To Him We Have Found Him Of Whom Moses In The Law And Also The Prophets Wrote Jesus Of Nazareth The Son Of Joseph And Nathanael Said To Him Can Anything Good Come Out Of Nazareth Philip Said To Him Come And See Jesus [44:33] Saw Nathanael Coming toward Him And Said Of Him Behold An Israelite Indeed In Whom Is No Deceit Nathanael Said To Him How Do You Know Me Jesus Answered And Said To Him Before Philip Called You When You Were Under The Fig Tree I Saw You Nathanael Answered And Said Unto Him Rabbi You Are The Son Of God You Are The King Of Israel Jesus Answered And Said To Him Because You Will See Greater Things Than These And He Said To Him Most Assuredly I Say To You Hereafter You Shall See Heaven Open And The Angels Of God Ascending And Descending Upon The Son Of Son Of Man Okay Thank you Again So we Have A Fair Amount In Here And So Again Says [45:34] The Next Day As John That's John The Baptist Stood With Two Of His Disciples And And He Sees Jesus Walking And He Says Behold The Lamb Of God And The Two Disciples Heard Him Speak And They Followed Jesus And And Then Jesus Turned And Seeing Them Following Said To Him What Do You Seek And Then They Said Rabbi And There Is Something Significant There The Scripture Says Rabbi Meaning Teacher Right In Jewish Culture You Only Called Someone Rabbi Who Was Qualified To Teach The Law The First Five Books Of The Bible And And So To Ascribe To Jesus Right Away Rabbi They Recognize He Was He Had [46:34] The Authority To Teach The Law As In As In Scripture And So In Verse 40 One Of The Two Heard Him Heard John Speak Was Andrew Simon Peter's Brother That's One Of The Two The Second Name Isn't Mentioned But Very Likely It Is The Author Of This Book John The Apostle John As He More Often Speaks Of Himself Without Mentioning His Name So We're Not Certain On That But It's Very Likely That That Andrew And John Are The Two There And So Right Away They Are Recognizing In Jesus Not That He's Necessary The Messiah But Rabbi He Is He Has An Authority Here To Speak For God Okay [47:35] And Then It Says Andrew He First Found His Own Brother Simon Simon Peter And Said To Him We Have Found The Messiah Which Is Translated The Christ And The Word Messiah Meaning Anointed One The Same As The Word Christ Anointed One And So So Andrew Goes And Gets His Brother Peter Simon Peter And Says We Have Found The Messiah So John Has Identified Him The Baptist And Andrew Is Already Convinced This Is The Messiah And He Introduces Him That Way To His Brother Peter And So He Brought Him To Jesus And When Jesus Looked At Him He Said You Are Simon The Son Of Jonah [48:35] You Shall Be Called Cephas Or A Stone And So There There Jesus Showed His Power And Actually His Omniscience Niscience Niscience That's A long Big Word Meaning All Knowledge He Knows It All He Said To Peter You Are Simon Peter Son Of Jonah Without Peter Saying That Jesus Showed He Knows All Things And He Says Your Name Shall Now Be Cephas A rock Or A stone And So Right Away Peter [49:36] I think Is well On The way To Believing As He Experiences God Here And In A Way That Is More Than Human It's Supernatural It's Spiritual Okay So There's There's Now Three Mentioned Here Well Not Mentioned But We Have Andrew And Peter And The Other Guy Whether It Was John Or Whoever And Then Verse 43 And The Following Day Jesus Wanted To Go To Galilee And He Found Philip And Said To Him Follow Me So They're Down Here In Beth Abara Right Right About There And They're Going To Go Up To Galilee Nazareth Was His Hometown But Galilee Is The Province And And So [50:36] Jesus Is Doing Lots Of Traveling And We're Going To See That In His Ministry He Does A Lot Of Traveling A Lot Of Walking Because All Of It Is On Foot Okay And Then We Introduce To The Fourth Guy Philip And He Says To Philip Follow Me And Philip Was From Beth Seda The City Of Andrew And Peter Beth Seda Is Up Around The Lake Sea Of Galilee Is Up Here So That's Where Peter And Andrew And And Now Philip Are All From That Town Okay And So They Have Followed Him There To Where There's Baptizing And Now They're Following Him Back To Their Home Country And Then We're Introduced To The Fifth Guy Philip Found Nathanael And [51:36] Said To Him We Have Found Him Of Whom Moses In The Law And Also The Prophets Wrote Jesus Of Nazareth The Son Of Joseph And So Announces To A New Guy We Have Found The Messiah We Have Found The Prophet That Was To Come And With That Let's Just Turn Briefly To Deuteronomy 18 15 Deuteronomy 18 15 And The Words Of Moses In Verse 15 Deuteronomy 18 The Lord Your God Will Raise Up For You A Prophet Like Me From Your midst From [52:37] Your Brethren Him You Shall Hear According To All You Desired Of The Lord Your God In Horeb In The Day Of The Assembly Saying Let Me Not Hear Again The Voice Of The Lord My God Nor Let Me See This Great Fire Anymore Lest I Die And The Lord Said To Me What They Have Spoken Is Good I Will Raise Up For Them A Prophet Like You From Among Their Brethren And Will Put My Words In His Mouth And He Shall Speak To Them All That I Command Him And So The First Time God Met His People On Mount Horeb With The Law The People Were Fearful And They Said Let Not God Speak To Us Directly Let Him Go Through Moses Because The People Were Fearful And The Receiving Of The Law And Then Moses Says There Is Coming A Prophet Down The Road He Will Speak Directly To You Hear Him And [53:40] And So They Would Have They Would Have Recognized That Now When When Philip Says To Nathanael We Have Found Him Of Who Moses In The Law Spoke And And So Philip Would Have Been Referring To That Verse Or Those Verses Moses Prophesied Okay So We're Seeing We're Seeing Clarity Coming To The First Disciples As They're Convinced Tying The Old Testament In With What They're Seeing In Real Life Because The New Isn't Written Yet But They're Seeing Jesus As The Fulfillment Okay And Then Nathanael Verse 46 Nathanael Said To Him Can Anything Good Come Out Of Nazareth And Philip Says Come And See Come [54:40] And Meet Jesus So Nathanael Is Also From Galilee And Remember Was It Last Class Or The First One We Talked About Nazareth Being Looked Down Upon By Judea As You know A bit Lower In Status And Not Much Good Out Of Nazareth Well Here Nathanael Who Is From There Says He He Reiterates Those Words Can Anything Good Come Out Of Our Country Out Of Our Town He He's Of The Mind Set Judea Is Where The Big Things Happen And He's Kind Of Sold On That Lie I Guess And Then Jesus Says He Saw Nathanael Coming Toward Him And Said Behold An Israelite Indeed In Whom There Is No Deceit And Nathanael Said To Him How Do You Know Me Jesus Answered [55:41] And Said To Him Before Philip Called You When You Were Under The Fig Tree I Saw You Again Jesus Is Showing That He Knows All Things And And And And He Goes Back And Philip Way Over There Before You Came My Way I Saw You Already When You Were Under That Fig Tree When You Were Out Of Sight And Notice Nathaniel's Response Nathanael Answered And Said To Him Rabbi Or Teacher You Are The Son Of God You're The King Of Israel And So we Have The Fifth Disciple In This Chapter Who Is Convinced Of Who Jesus Is And So they Will All Become Followers Of Him Later Nathaniel Was Only Mentioned [56:41] Once At The End Of I Think The Gospel Of John And He Is Believed To Be The Same Person As Bartholomew Who Was One Of The Twelve And Another Name That's Not Mentioned Here But Most Scholars Think That He's One And The Same Person As Bartholomew So we Can't For sure Prove That But It's It's Very Likely He's Mentioned Again At The End Of The Gospels As A Follower Of Christ As Someone Very Close To Jesus Okay And Then That That Chapter Ends With Jesus Saying Because Because I Said To You I Saw You Under The Fig Tree Do You Believe You Will See Greater Things Than These Most Assuredly I Say To You Hereafter You Shall See Heaven Open And The Angels Of God Ascending [57:41] And Descending Upon The Son Of Man And What Does That Make You Think Of That Last Verse What Other Bible Verse Jacob's Ladder We Saw The Angels Ascending And Descending Right Ministering And Jesus Says You Will See Angels Ministering To Me And What Is That An Indication Of Angels Ascent Of God Ascending And Descending Upon The Son Of Man What Does That Indicate To Us And To Nathanael Okay Right So So This Is God's Anointed One And His Angels Will [58:41] Be Moving Freely Back And Forth To Minister To Christ During His Time Here On Earth Those Last Three Years And They Would Witness That Okay And We Saw In The Previous Passage We Read That After The Temptations The Angels Came And Strengthened Him Yeah So We See That That Was Already There Okay So It Just Verified To Nathanael Even Deeper This Is The Son Of God Okay So That Is The First Authentication Of The Messiah By His First Disciples And Then The Second One In Chapter Two And Verses One Through Eleven There Was A Wedding In [59:42] Cana Of Galilee And The Mother Of Jesus Was There And Both Jesus And His Disciples Were Invited To The Wedding When The Wine Ran Out The Mother Of Jesus Said To Him They Have No Wine And Jesus Said To Her Woman What Does That Have To Do With Us My Hour Has Not Yet Come His Mother Said To The Servants Whatever He Says To You Do It Now There Were Six Stone Water Pots Set There For The Jewish Custom Of Purification Containing Twenty And He Said To Them Now Draw Some Out And Take It To The Master Of The Feast So They Took It And When The Master Of The Feast Tasted The Water Now Became Wine And Did Not Know Where It Came From Though The Servants Who Had Drawn The Water Knew The Master Of The Feast Called The Bridegroom And Said To Him Everyone Who Serves The Good Wine First And When People Have Drunk Freely Than The Poor Wine But You [60:42] Have Kept The Wine Until Now This Is The First Of His Signs Jesus Did At Cana In Galilee And Manifested His Glory And His Disciples Believed In Him All Right So The First Recorded Miracle That Jesus Did Publicly In His Ministry And So We Had Read In The Previous Passage That They Had Gone Up To Galilee And I Don Know If Nazareth Or By The Sea Doesn't Say But Galilee And Now To Cana Which Is Only This Is 20 Miles So Maybe Five Miles From Nazareth Where He Would Have Lived So It's Only A Little Short Distance Very Likely Someone Close To Them Because Jesus Mother Is There Jesus Is There They're Invited To A Wedding And [61:42] And We're Not Going To Focus On Arguing Whether This Was Wine Fermented Or Not As Those Are Large Water Pots It's Roughly 150 Gallons When They Were All Full And So That Was A Lot Of A Lot Of Wine To Drink But It So Happens That They Run Out During The Feast And Would Have Been A Great Embarrassment To To The Master Of The Feast To The Probably The Husband Or The Dad Of The Father Of The Groom To Run Out And And Jesus Mother When She Hears That She Turns To Jesus And Says They Have No Wine Well The Last We Have Heard Of Jesus At [62:43] Age Twelve He He Returned Home And Was Subject To Them And Then We Have No Indication That Mary His Mother Accompanied Him To His Baptism Or His Temptations But Now All Of A Sudden She Turns To Him Expectant Jesus You Can Do Something About This Not Having Witnessed Miracles Yet That We Know At Least And And Jesus Answers And Says Woman So He's Now Speaking As The Son Of God Woman What Does Your Concern Have To Do With Me My Hour Has Not Yet Come And It's Not Yet Come And Yet It Starts There His Hour His First Miracle He Honors His Mother And Commands Them To Fill The Water Pots With Water And Then To [63:43] Draw Out Immediately And To Taste It And Then They're Astonished Because It Was Better Wine Than The Original Okay The Custom In Their Land By The Way Is That They Would Take Wine The Fruit Of The Wine Fermented And Mix It With Water Usually Six To Seven Six Or Seven To One Parts Water To One Part Wine To Make The Water Drinkable For Human Consumption We Enjoy Lots Of Good Water Here In The West Lots Of Parts Of The World They Don't So There Was A Lot Of So That Was A Normal Thing To Drink And So I'll Leave It At That Don't Need To Get Into The Details [64:43] Okay So That's The First Miracle And So Again The People Of Canna And Nazareth And Whoever Was At That Wedding They Witnessed A Miracle And Who Can Do Miracles It Pointed To God So This This Man Must Be From God Okay Thirdly He Demonstrated His His Godhead By His Possession Of The Temple And So Let's Continue Reading In Verse We Entered In Verse 11 So We'll Start In Verse 12 And Read To The End Of The Chapter Or To Verse 22 12 To 22 [65:44] Where Did We Leave Off Okay After This He Went Down To Capernaum He And His Mother And His Brethren And His Disciples And They Continued There Not Many Days And The Jews Passover Was At Hand And Jesus Went Up To Jerusalem And Found In The Temple Those That Sold Oxen And Sheep And Doves And The Changers Of Money Sitting And When He Had Made A Scourge Of Small Chords He Drove Them All Out Of The Temple And The Sheep And The Oxen And Poured Out The Changers Money And Over Through The Tables And Said Unto Them That Sold Doves Take These Things Hence Make Not My Father's House A House Of Merchandise And His Disciples Remembered That It Was Written The Zeal Of Thine House Hath Eten Me Up Then Answered The Jews And Said Unto Him What Sign Showest Thou Unto Us Seeing That Thou Doest These Things Jesus Answered And Said Unto Them Destroy [66:44] This Temple And In Three Days I Will Raise It Up Then Said The Jews Forty And Six Years Was This Temple In Building And Will Thou Rear It Up In Three Days But He Spake Of The Temple Of His Body When Therefore He Was Raised From The Dead His Disciples Remembered That He Had Said This Unto Them And They Believe The Scripture And The Word Which Jesus Had Said All Right Thank You So From Cana The Wedding We Know He Went Down To Capernaum It Says He His Mother His Brothers And His Disciples And So From Cana Down To Capernaum Which Is On Top Of The Lake And Capernaum In Jesus' Day Was [67:45] A Thriving It Was Probably The Biggest Center Around The Lake Community Wise Or Town It Was Probably The Kind Of The Capital A Very Thriving Place Today There's Nothing It's Dead Remember Later On Jesus Curses Capernaum I Will Come Across That In A Few Weeks In A Course But He Curses It And Today There's Only There's A Few Monuments I Think The Catholic They Have A Monument There Or A Shrine But There's Nothing Else There And It Was A Thriving Fishing Town Back In Jesus Day And So It Says He His Mother His Brothers And His Disciples And So At This Point We Believe That Joseph Likely Has Passed Away Because From Here On There's There's Only Mention Of Mary Always By Herself No [68:46] More Mention Of Joseph In Any Scripture After This And So Jesus Being 30 Years Old So Joseph Very Likely Died Young We Don't Have Scripture In Verse To Say That He Died But He's Just Not There Anymore And Then From There In Verse 13 Now The Passover Of The Jews Was At Hand And He Went Up To Jerusalem And So From Capernaum And It Says They Did Not Stay Very Many Days And They Went Up To Jerusalem And It Is Up Because Jerusalem Is The High Spot In Israel Okay And While He's There He Goes To The Temple And He Found In The Temple Those Who Sold Oxen And Sheep And Doves And The Money [69:46] Changers Doing Business So It's The Passover And At Passover They Are All Every Family Is To Sacrifice A Lamb Right To Eat The Passover Meal They're All Commended To Come To Jerusalem During The Passover And And So We Have Jesus In The Temple And And Those Who Sold Oxen And Sheep And Doves Are Doing It To Make Money So Jesus Traveling From Here He Won't Take His Own Sheep To Sacrifice He'll Buy One Here Right And And So Everybody Traveling A Long Distance Would Buy Their Sacrifice Animals In Jerusalem And So They Would Have Herds Of Sheep Outside The City That They Would Sort Through And Ensure That They Were Without Blemish And Then They Would Be For Sale And Here There's Money Changers Or There's [70:47] People In The Temple Who Are Ripping Off The Visitors And They're Getting Rich By It And And Jesus Gets Well You You You Get The Picture He He Gets A Little Bit Upset He Makes A Whip Of Things I Don't Know If He Sees Cords Laying Around He Makes A Whip And He Drives Them Out And Turns The Tables Over And And I Think Jesus Was Angry At What He Saw The Abuse That He Saw There In The Temple In In In In God's Temple They're Abusing The System For Their Own Greedy Gain And And The Thing Is Nobody Stops Them Or Stops Him They Allow Jesus To Do This And And Jesus Says To Those Who Sold Doves Take [71:47] These Things Away Do Not Make My Father's House A House Of Merchandise So The Doves He Didn't Chase Out But He Said Carry Them Out And And Then We're Quoted From Psalm 68 Or 69 Zeal For Your House Has Eat Me Up And It's A Quote Out of Psalm 69 And So As The Jews The Pharisees As They Watch Jesus Do This They They're Not Stopping Him But They Simply Ask By What Authority Are You Doing This It's Almost Like We Know That We're Doing Wrong But What Authority Do You Have To Stop Us It's Almost That Atmosphere That Comes Out And Jesus Says To Their Question What Sign Destroy This Temple And In Three Days I [72:47] Will Raise It Up That's The Only Sign I'm Going To Give You And They Protest It Took 46 Years Under King Herod To Build This Thing And You're Going To Do It In Three Days But He Is Speaking Of His Body The Temple Of God And It's He's Speaking Of The Cross Where His Temple Will Be Destroyed On The Cross And Three Days It Will Be Raised To Life That's The Sign To To Verify Ultimately This Is God's Son And It Beats All The Other Signs Because Jesus Comes To Life Because He Has Life In Himself Okay It's Interesting No One Questions [73:47] That That They're Perverted In Their Use Of The Temple That It Needed To Be Cleaned They Don't Question That That They're Following Tradition Versus The Law And That They Were Motivated By Greed Instead Of Following The Law Of God They Know They're Guilty But What Gave You The Right To Stop Us And Jesus Did Not Answer Them Directly But Rather The Sign I'll Give You Is In Three Days I'll Rebuild This Temple So He Is Showing Himself In Jerusalem That He Is The Messiah By That Authority Okay I think [74:48] We'll Do One More Keep Reading 23 Verse 23 Now When He Was In Jerusalem At The Passover In The Feast Day Many Believed In His Name When They Saw The Miracles Which He Did But Jesus Did Not Commit Himself Unto Them Because He Knew All Men And Needed Not That Any Should Testify Of Man For He Knew That He Was In Man There Was A Man Of The Pharisees Named Nicodemus A Ruler Of The Same Day The Same Came To Jesus By Night And Said Unto Him Rabbi We Know That Thou Art A Teacher Come From God For No Man Can Do These Things These Miracles That Thou Doest Except God Be With Him Jesus Answered And Said Unto Him Verily Verily I Say Unto The Except A Man Be Born Again And He He Cannot See The Kingdom [75:48] Of God What do you mean? Exclaimed Nicodemus How can An old man Go back Into his Mother's Room And Be Born Again? [76:04] Jesus Replied I Assure You No One Can Enter The Kingdom Of God Without Being Born Of Water And The Spirit Humans Can Reproduce Only Human Life But The Holy Spirit Gives Birth To Spiritual Life So Don't Be Surprised When I Say You Must Be Born Again The Wind Blows Wherever It Wants Just As You Can Hear The Wind But Can't Tell Where It Comes From And Where It Is Going The Spirit Nicodemus Said To Him How Can These Things Be Jesus Answered And Said To Him Are You The Teacher Of Israel And Do Not Understand These Things Truly Truly I Say To You We Speak Of What We Know And Testify Of What We Have Seen And You Do Not Accept Our Testimony If I Told You Earthly Things And You Do Not Believe How Will You Believe If No [77:05] One Has Ascended Into Heaven But He Who Has Descended From Heaven The Son Of Man As Moses Lifted Up The Serpent In The Wilderness Even So Must The Son Of Man Be Lifted Up So That Whoever Believes In Him Will God God Son That Whosoever Believes In Him Should Not Perish But Have Everlasting Life For God Sent Not His Son Into The World To Condemn The World But That The World Through Him Might Be Saved Whosoever Believes In Him Is Not Condemned But Whosoever Does Not Believe Stands Condemned Already Because They Have Not Believed In His Name Of God [78:05] Of God's One And Only Son This Is The Verdict Light Has Come Into The World But People Love Darkness Instead Of Light Because Their Deeds Were Evil Everyone Who Does Evil Hates The Light And Will Not Come Into The Light For Fear That Their Deeds Will Be Exposed But Whoever Lives By Truth Comes Into The Light So That It May Be Seen Plainly That They Have Done Has Been Done In The Sight Of God Okay Thank You So A few Thoughts Here So Now When He Was In Jerusalem In Verse 23 During The Passover So Not Only Did He Drive Out The Money Changers And So On But It Says That He Did Many Signs Verse 23 And It Says [79:05] Many Believed In His Name When They Saw What He Did So He Must Have Done Many Miracles Very Likely Healing The Sick And So On We're Not Told Which Miracles He Did But Let's Just Remember That They're In Jerusalem And Jews From Everywhere Have Gathered And So He Is Being Authenticated In Front Of All Jews Basically In That Region Of The Countries Around Even They Would Have Traveled There For The Passover So Very Significant That God So Right From The Get Go Has Shown Everybody This Is My Son And Then We Have A Special While He's In Jerusalem A Special Contact Through A Pharisee Named Nicodemus Who Is Of The Of The Leading [80:05] Rulership The Sanhedrin Nicodemus One Of Them He Comes To Jesus After He Sees The Signs He Comes By Night Very Likely To Maybe Avoid Criticism Or Even Being Pushed Out By His Fellow Leaders But His Heart Is Burning With Questions And Coming As A Jew From The Old Testament Times He Acknowledges Rabbi Again You Are A Teacher And No One Can Do These Signs Unless God Is With Him And So Jesus Anticipates What's In His Heart And Jesus Answers That By Saying No One Can See The Kingdom Of God Unless He's Born Again Now How Did That Come Out Of What [81:07] Nicodemus Was Saying So Jesus Was Reading What Was In His Heart Well You Know Very Likely Nicodemus Is Saying How Righteous Do I Have To Be To Enter The Kingdom That Kind Of Mindset And So He Is Truly Searching And Jesus Says You Need To Be Born Again And So To Be Born Again In Their Culture Was For The Dogs The Gentiles When They Wanted To Adopt The God Of The Jews And Become A Proselyte They Had To Go Through A Baptism That Marked Being Born Again A New Start In Life With A Different Set Of Of Rules Almost Or Following A Different God And [82:07] Here Jesus Is Saying You Need To Be Born Again You Need To Make A New Start Become Just Like The People That We Look Down On The Gentiles So I Think Nicodemus Was Caught Off Guard And Shocked By That You Know We're God's People Abraham Is My Father And And So Nicodemus Says Well How Can I Be Born Again When I'm Old So He's Not Understanding Fully Can I Can I Climb Back Into My Mom's Womb You Know He's He's Obviously Not Not Thinking Spiritually And Jesus Verifies Most Assuredly I Say To You Unless You're Born Of Water And The Spirit You Cannot [83:07] Enter The Kingdom Of God And As Christians Today We Associate Water With The Word Of God The Washing Of The Word Of God Ephesians 5 Uses That Word That Way I Think It's Verse 26 Ephesians 5 By The Washing Of The Word And So And That Is Correct The Word Of God Does Do That And The Spirit Of God Draws Us So Unless The Water And The Spirit Are There You Cannot Be Born Again But For Nicodemus Water May Have Had A Deeper Meaning In In The Baptism Of John Where John Baptized Upon What Did He Baptize Upon Repentance Confessing [84:07] Of Sins Right And So He Is Saying Upon The Confessing Of Sins Acknowledging I'm A Sinner And The Drawing Of God's Spirit So So In That Way Nicodemus May Have Linked That To John's Water Baptism Because That Involved Repentance Now We We Frown Upon That Concept Because The Thief On The Cross Wasn't Baptized And And He Was In Paradise So It's Not The Baptism Itself It's The Repentance Part That He Would Have Witnessed In His Lifetime That John Taught So Anyway Jesus Makes It Very Clear Water And The Spirit Have To Be There To For You To Enter The Kingdom Of God And So It's In The Word Of God Leads Us To Repentance And And As The Spirit Of God Draws Us We're Able To Repent And [85:08] Turn To Him Okay And Then Jesus Goes On And Clarifies And Differentiates Between The Flesh And The Spirit The Natural Birth And The Spiritual Birth And He Says The Spirit Is Like The Wind It's Mysterious It Enters A Person That Is Born Again You Cannot See The Spirit But You Can See The Evidence Of It You Cannot Tell Where The Wind Comes From And Where It Goes You Can't See The Wind But You Can Can See The Evidence Of The Wind And Feel It And So Is The Work Of The Spirit And So So Nicodemus Is Receiving Spiritual Teaching Here That That Was Necessary For Him To Believe How Can These Things Be Nicodemus Asks And Jesus Says Are You The Teacher Of [86:08] Israel And Do Not Know These Things And You Should Nicodemus You Should Know These Things And So He Is Asking And Jesus Is Teaching Him And Then We Have The Part Where Jesus Tells Nicodemus I Will Be Lifted Up Like Moses Lifted Up The Serpent In The Wilderness And So The Son Of Man Will Be Lifted Up To Die For Our Sins And That's That's A Reference Back To The Old Testament To Moses What's The Scripture There Numbers 21 8 9 As They As They Lift The Serpent On The Bronze Pole They're Bitten By Snakes And As They Look To That Serpent They Don't Die And It Saves Them From The Snake Bites And It's [87:08] An Illustration Prophetically Back Then To That Jesus Would Be Lifted Up On A Tree And Die For Us And Whoever Looks To Jesus Will Be Saved And So He Reminds Them I Showed You In The Old Testament Already And And Then He Reveals Purpose Verse 17 I Just Want To End With That God Did Not Send His Son Into The World To Condemn The World But That The World Might Through Him Might Be Saved He Who Believes In Him Is Not Condemned But He Who Does Not Believe Is Condemned Already Because He Has Not Believed In The [88:17] A Further Revelation Now To A Member Of The Jewish Leadership The Sanhedrin Has First Hand Experienced Who Jesus Is Now And Nicodemus Is There Later At Jesus Death To Assist In The Burial He Has Obviously Become A Believer A Follower So Again Jesus Or God Making Inroads Everywhere That Jesus Goes So As As We End Today I Know We're Going A Little Over Time Let's Just Chart The Journeys From Last Time We Did To Age Twelve And Now We're Going To Go To The Start Of His Ministry And So At Age Twelve [89:18] He Went Up From Jerusalem To Nazareth And And Then At Age Thirty So Eighteen Years Later He Went To Beth Abara Should Use a Different Color That's His Second Journey There And Then From Beth Abara He Went Where See How Much You Follow Today Where Did He Go What Happened At Beth Abara He Was Baptized And After Baptism Temptation So He Made A Journey And We Thought Maybe It Would Be Over Here Okay [90:22] And From From His Temptation It Said He Went Back To Beth Abara And There John Positively Identified Him So Went Back To Beth Abara John One You Read About That And So He's Walking All Of This There's No Harley Davidsons There Okay And Then From Beth Abara It Says He Went Up To Galilee And That's Where He Found Nathanael Right So Beth Abara Up To Galilee And I'll Just Go Like This Number Five And And From There The Next Mention Is Cana Went Over And [91:23] We Had The Wedding Feast And From Cana He Went To Capernaum With His Mother And His Brothers Or Family Siblings And And Then From Capernaum He Went Back Down To Jerusalem For The Feast Of Passover And So This Is This Is Likely All Within Six Months The First Six Months Of His Ministry So He Has Done A lot Of Walking And This is What's Recorded in Scripture How much He's Traveled Around In Galilee And Stuff We're Wow He's Going To Do A lot [92:23] That That Is Recorded But We We We Don't Have All The Details Right So Yeah There's A bunch Of Maps Here If You Want To Do That Personally For Your Records Feel Free I I Think Most Of You Picked Up Maps Last Time But There's A stack Here So We're Going To End With That I Would Just Maybe Like to Put A Proposal For The Next Classes Should We Save The Coffee Break Till After Class That Be Okay Go Straight Through And Then Cut It Off At 830 And Then Is That Too Long To Sit I'm Finding It I'm Just Getting In Gear And Then We Have To Stop And Yeah I Think It Would Work Better Maybe To To Go Straight Hour And A Half And Then Go Have Fellowship If [93:23] You're Good With That We'll Try It Next Time Okay Alright That's It Thank You So Much And We Are Dismissed
