Jonah's Anger, God's Grace | Jonah 4:1-11

In Jonah 4's conclusion, we go over Jonah's Anger and God's Grace. We go over how Jonah was angry at the fact that Nineveh was saved, and God works with Jonah to get through to him. God is gracious, merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love. God relented of the disaster of Nineveh being overthrown.

Ontario Community Church is located in Ontario, Oregon. We are on the border of Idaho and Oregon and we are in the treasure valley.

God appointed the great fish, the gourd, the worm and the scorching eastern wind to teach mercy.

When bitterness creeps in, God reminds us of His grace.

The Prodigal City: Nineveh's Redemption and Its Connection | Jonah 3:1-10

In Jonah 3, we'll study Nineveh's remarkable redemption story and see connections to other stories of Scripture.

We will also see that there is a connection with our own story in Christ.

When the people repent at Jonah's warning, paralleling our response to God's call, their reconciliation foreshadows our own.

I'll discuss the king of Nineveh's acts of humility by removing his robe, putting on sackcloth and sitting in ashes. We will also go with how the people fasting, wearing sackcloth, and call upon the Lord.

We'll also examine the concept of spiritual restoration through examining biblical "prodigal" stories.

Discover timeless spiritual truths on mercy, restoration in Christ, and the joy of coming home to God.

Read Jonah 1:17-2:10 with me as we illuminate parallels between Jonah, Jesus' passion, and our salvation.

We'll see how Jonah points to Christ's death when he's swallowed by the fish, his time inside symbolizing Christ's burial, and his vomiting onto land reflecting Christ's resurrection. Just as Jonah repented in the fish, we too can turn from sin and receive cleansing.

Hello, everyone!

Pastor Patrick Dailey here, and I welcome you back to another episode of our podcast sermon series on the Book of Jonah at Ontario Community Church, in Ontario, Oregon. No matter who you are, where you are or when you are listening to this recording, you are welcome and you loved by God.

Today's sermon, titled "Storms and Surrender," takes us deeper into the Word of God as we explore Jonah 1:11-16. Together, we will go deep into the part of the story where the sailors are converted to the Lord. The sailors turn away from their prior beliefs to embrace faith in the one true God.

Their compelling story reminds us of our own conversion or experiences with faith. Their story inspires and encourages us on our faith journey, reminding us of the love and grace from God. Be encouraged to come to the Lord, grow in the Lord and share your faith with others.

As we go through this verse-by-verse study of Jonah's story, I have no doubt that these timeless words from the Bible will continue to resonate with our everyday lives. I pray that today's sermon challenges you, inspires you, and most significantly, helps your spiritual growth in your walk with Christ.
