Paul warned Timothy to beware of superstitions, unfounded stories, pointless questions, and false teaching that draw people away from the truth. He encouraged Timothy to remain strong in the faith and hold fast to sound doctrine.</p> <p>Christians today face the same need to test what they hear against what God has said.
