[0:00] Yeah, but Job was talking about wishing that designing to have a days man and I'll find that and I'll Yes, it is d-a-y-s-m-n spelled just like it sounds I'll tell you where it is just 10 seconds Job 933 And so we see here so its purpose was to exclude we're all unfit to be in his presence But Jesus is our days man. He's our mediator He's the one that came and he paid the price for our salvation to cleanse us and to wash us clean from our sin So that we can enter in to the presence of God. He brings us together with God And so its purpose was to exclude but it was also to include And its purpose was to enclose the beauty of all of the treasures of the tabernacle Now here's the thing if you look [1:00] You see all the things that are inside the tabernacle and inside of course inside the tabernacle building itself and then the labor and and the Brazen altar if you're standing on the outside looking in at the fence you can't see anything But linen fence linen fence and all that much to look at and If you can see the tabernacle building, it's not that much to look at But inside the tabernacle building itself Can't remember the exact number but it's several million dollars worth of gold Inside the tabernacle, but to look at it from the outside, you know you see it's covered with you know badger skin Not that much to desire And that's the thing that's the way that our Christian life is sometimes just look at it on the outside There's not too much to be desired But when you get to the inside where the real treasure is Man you wouldn't trade anything for it [2:01] And so It's to enclose all the beauty of the treasures of the tabernacle and what it is is jesus gives us a garment of righteousness and that garment of righteousness is to enclose us And so here we've been talking about the past Three weeks Three services About the tabernacle About the tabernacle And the enclosure And we've talked about a lot of really beautiful things that way And And! [2:54] Seeing all that beauty of the holiness of Christ But we ain't even got inside yet We haven't even talked about a way to get in That's what we're going to talk about next time Next time we talk about the gate That gets us in The way Into the tabernacle So let me turn this tape off and we'll see if we can answer some questions Hallelujah If you got your bibles let's turn to Exodus chapter 27 Yeah It's Stuck on it pretty much 27 verse 16 Verse 16 [3:55] Everybody found it? [4:16] All right Exodus 27 and 16 says And for the gate of the court shall be in hanging of twenty cubits of blue and purple and scarlet and Fine twine linen wrought with needlework and their pillars shall be four and their sockets four All the pillars round about the court shall be filled with silver their hooks shall be of silver and their sockets of brass And the length of the court shall be in hundred cubits and the breadth fifty everywhere and the height five cubits of fine twine linen and their sockets of brass All the vessels of the tabernacle and all the service thereof and all the pens thereof and all the pens thereof and all the pens of the court shall be of brass Exodus 38 Exodus 38 Verse 18 Verse 18 Exodus 38 and 18 says And the hanging for the gate of the court was needlework of blue and purple and scarlet and fine twine linen [5:19] And twenty cubits was the length and the height and the breadth was five cubits answerable to the hangings of the court And their pillars were four and their sockets of brass four their hooks of silver and the overlaying of their chapiters and their fillets of silver And all the pens of the tabernacle and of the court round about Were of brass Come us tonight to talk about the gate We've been all the way around the tabernacle All the post and and the rails and the and the hangings of the of the court Sort of like a whole lot of people that hang around and they're around it, but they don't ever get in the middle of it So tonight we're gonna get trying find a way to get in the middle of it This gate that we're talking about tonight the gate in the outer court there is called the way gate That word gate comes from a hebrew word that means to split or to open [6:26] And so the gate of the court provided an entrance to the court And so this is another image of how Jesus Was the way to get to God and We'll find that in John chapter 10 verse 7 and 8 or verses 7 and 9 John chapter 10 verse 7 and verse 9 We'll just read 7 through 9 Chapter 10 verse 7 says then Jesus said unto them again Verily verily I say unto you I am the door of the sheep All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers but The sheep did not hear them I am the door By me if any man enter in He shall be saved and shall go in and out And find pasture And find pasture Then over in John chapter 14 Chapter 14 and verse 6 [7:32] Jesus saith unto him I am the way The truth And the life No man cometh unto the father But by me So we see here Jesus was talking and he told them I'm the way I'm the truth and I'm the life He's talking about three different doors We're going to talk about eventually The three different doors of the tabernacle The outer gate here was called the way gate The entrance into the holy place Is the truth gate And the entrance into the holy Outer gate is the truth gate Outer gate is the way gate The truth gate is the gate into the holy place Then the life gate Then the life gate is the way into the holy of holies So Jesus revealed here in this verse [8:34] Three doors Revealed in relationship to the tabernacle And we'll talk about some of those later on We're going to talk about the first one The way gate A little bit tonight So Jesus is the way door that lets us come in To the presence of God That's the only way that we've got to Come into the presence of God Is through Jesus He's our mediator that we talked about last week And so there was only one gate into the court There wasn't any other way to get into the court of the tabernacle Except through the gate that was on the east side Of the court And so there was only one entrance One way to get inside So and here's the thing You couldn't buy your way in any other way You couldn't pay somebody to sneak you in any other way Because there wasn't any other way to come You had to come in by the way that was provided And that's the way we've got to come in We've got to come in through God's word God's word is our gate Into the tabernacle and into the presence of God [9:39] So we're going to talk about the gate Now what was it made out of? First thing that was commanded of it was blue It's going to make a gate and it's going to be blue Let's talk about blue first So blue was the first commanded color It comes from the Hebrew word Tekele T-E-K-E-L-E-T-H T-E-K-E-L-E-T-H T-E-K-E-L-E-T-H Tekele Now if you look it up in your Strong's Concordance The word blue here refers to a certain kind of muscle I can't pronounce the word That's why I'm not going to try and say it But another name for it is the sky blue muscle Because its shell is blue And the inside of it is blue And so muscle [10:42] Like a freshwater muscle M-U-S-S-L Called the sky blue muscle And What the blue represented was the heavenly nature Of Jesus Christ And how that he was going to come John chapter 3 And verse 13 Let's go over here real quick John 3, 13 It says here And no man hath ascended up to heaven But he that came down from heaven Even the son of man Which is in heaven It's talking about Jesus And how he made his way to earth So that he could lead Fallen man back to God Then over in John chapter 6 In verse 51 Verse 51 It says here [11:48] I am the living bread Which came down from heaven If any man eat of this bread He shall live forever And the bread that I will give Is my flesh Which I will give For the life Of the world Of the world And so Talking about Jesus again How he was the man Who came down from heaven And speaking of his heavenly nature How he gave up his heavenly throne To come down and walk this earth To become the sacrifice For our sin And so Here's the thing We need to get This sky blue color To become a part of us To work in us You know Everything that we find out about Jesus We need to get it worked into our nature You know Because we're supposed to be Like him And so We've got to get this Color woven into our soul So that what? [12:38] So that our mind So that our conversation Will be on what? On heavenly things On the things of God And on the things that he wants us To be Thinking about and doing Philippians chapter 3 And verse 20 Philippians 3 20 Says here For our conversation Is in heaven From whence also We look for the Savior The Lord Jesus Christ So our conversation Our life Is wrapped up in heaven And that's the way We need to have our life here It needs to be wrapped up in heaven We need to be thinking of What we can do For the kingdom of God And how that we can build We can build his kingdom And so we see the blue And then the next color We see is the purple Second color was commanded to To put in there [13:40] Now purple speaks of royalty And so we see another aspect Of the nature of Jesus Christ He was He was And The thing with it is This isn't any ordinary gate There's no other gates like it You know Anywhere else This is something original That they're doing So there isn't any other gate like it Just like there isn't any other Person like Jesus Christ The blue speaking of the heavenly son of God And then the purple speaking of the royal son of God And the color purple reminds us of two things The royalty You know You see In movies and TV shows Anytime you have anybody who's anything In any kind of a royal family or anything There's going to be some purple somewhere Purple speaks of royalty But it also speaks of power And so we find that Jesus is our powerful savior Come down to save us and to redeem us [14:42] And then you have the third color That's mentioned Commanded to put in And that's scarlet Comes from the Hebrew word tulath T-O-L-A-A-T-H T-H You all know what that means? [15:04] Maggot Everybody likes maggots don't they? Maggot Worm Another translation of And so the scarlet speaks to us of the blood of Jesus That he came to shed for us And to redeem us That his blood had to be shed Because here's the thing He had to become a maggot The word of God says that he became sin for us He who knew no sin became sin And he took it to the cross and he died And he shed his blood to cover The sins of this world So that man could be brought back into relationship with him And so He became a maggot So that we could have forgiveness So that we could have life So that we could come back into the presence of God And so just like these other two colors We got to get it worked into our spirit We got to get it worked into us We can be [16:06] A vessel that God could use To pour his power out To save somebody Got to be willing to walk that same road that Jesus walked Says in the In the book of Psalms For I am a worm And no man The King David speaking figuratively Of Jesus Christ when he would come And that's what he did He took the worms road He took the low place There wasn't any place Where he took any place of authority in itself But every place he went He took the low place The place of humility The low The humble place The place And he allowed God's will to be done And then the fourth thing That we find in the gate Was fine twine linen The whiteness and the purity of it And we've already talked about that The holiness and the righteousness of Jesus Christ We won't spend A lot of time elaborating on these [17:10] But here in these four colors Of course we can see a picture of Jesus And we're going to find that Each one of the four Gospels Shows These four colors And And how that they reveal Jesus As the door As the gate To salvation Matthew chapter one There it is Matthew chapter one Verse one Now Matthew represents the color purple here Because Matthew is the only one of the four Gospels That gives us the genealogy of Jesus Christ Jesus Christ Basically the only time that genealogy is mentioned anywhere [18:13] Except for the Old Testament The Old Testament's got all kinds of it The only time that you have Anybody who worries about any genealogy Well this one was the son of this Who was the son of this Who was the duke of this And the earl of this So It shows how Jesus And only a king was worthy of this attention Verse one The book of the generation of Jesus Christ Abraham begat Isaac And Jacob begat Judas And his brethren And Judas begat And Ezrom begat Amram And Amram begat Aminadab And Nason And Nason begat Salmon And Salmon begat Boaz of Rechab And Boaz begat Obed of Ruth And Obed begat Jesse [19:15] You want to get sleepy? Read all the begats But skipping on down to verse Do do do do And Jacob begat Joseph The husband of Mary Of whom was born Jesus Who is called Christ So he mentions the genealogy of Jesus The purple, the royalty of Jesus And how that he is the descendant of King David Who was the descendant of Abraham Who was the father of faith And then we see Mark Speaks to us of the scarlet thread Chapter 10 verse 45 I believe Mark chapter 10 verse 45 Says for even the son of man [20:18] Came not to be ministered unto But to minister And to give his life For many So Mark speaks to us of the scarlet thread And we see Jesus here as the suffering servant The one who took the worms road The one who took the low place For all of our sins And then over in Luke chapter 19 Luke chapter 19 and verse 10 And verse 10 We see the white The purity and the holiness And the righteousness of Jesus Coming to seek and to save That's what his desire was To save all that was lost Luke 19 10 says here For the son of man has come to seek [21:20] And to save That Which was lost And then you have John chapter 1 Representative of the blue Verse 29 of chapter 1 Representative of the blue Representative of the blue Verse 29 of chapter 1 It says here The next day John seeeth Jesus The next day John seeeth Jesus Coming unto him and saith Behold the Lamb of God Which taketh away The sin of the world And so we see that John's talking about the blue thread That heavenly thread And his purpose was to take away To save that which was lost And bring it back into fellowship with him And so you begin to tie these things together And so then you've got these four colors [22:23] But how were they put together? How did they put together? Uh we read there in those verses at the beginning That they were wrought in needlework Anybody ever do any sewing? [22:36] How do you sew? Take that needle and whatever you're sewing That needle goes through So it's got to be pierced We talked about The fine twine linen last week How that it had to be pierced and combed And that was a representation of Jesus How that he was pierced And how that he suffered for us To bring us into relationship with him And how that his blood was shed for us So it was wrought with needlework And that word wrought means to be accomplished And the only way that these colors could be put there Was with a lot of piercing with a needle A lot of it As you figure these This gate was five cubits out Which is right around eight feet And twenty cubits wide Which is a whole bunch of feet Which is a whole bunch of feet Thirty thirty-five feet wide So a lot of needles had to go through to make it work [23:40] Make it work And the only way that Jesus could accomplish his work That he came to do Of being the door Of being the way was through a whole lot of suffering Through a whole lot of humiliation Through a whole lot of affliction We could never go through the pain that he endured for us We'd give up and we'd quit We'd be calling for the angels Come and get them But his mercy and his love didn't do it He suffered through it And so through the sufferings and through the piercings We're able to see all of this blue and this scarlet And this fine twine linen And this white It doesn't give any particular design Just these colors had to be worked into it So no doubt they were all woven through the fabric And here's the thing When people come to God They come to God for a lot of different reasons There's some people who come to God for the purple [24:44] For the royalty for the majesty of God And just just how great he is And there's some who come for the for the scarlet for the blood Because they realize that they're lost And there's no way you know that they can make it They've got to have it They've got to have it And then the blue The heavenly savior You know that's just clothed in majesty And the greatness of his power And so a lot of people come to God for different reasons And so it was all woven together Because you might see beauty in something And I don't see beauty in something But if we all take time to look at it We can all find a way to appreciate God There's you know you You might you have a different relationship with God than I do And so There are things that you appreciate about God That I might take for granted [25:47] And there's things that I appreciate of God That you might take for granted And so we all we each have a different Relationship with him And so people come to him in a lot of different ways Last thing here the position of the gate Where was the gate located at? [26:07] On the east side In the middle of the eastern end It was twenty cubits long It was five cubits high You get that number twenty by multiplying four times five Five is the number of what? [26:27] Grace Four is the number of the earth So it was through the grace of God That a way was made in this earth For us to ever come back to Jesus That's why it was placed here That's why it was placed in the earth Where was it placed? [26:47] It was placed in the center of the east side In the earth You know we talked about A couple of services ago How they set the sockets down on the ground Then they set the post down And then they stretched the cords over them And drove the pins You couldn't even see the sockets Because they were covered By the sand that they were sitting on And so it was placed in the ground Grounded for us That we can find a way To enter back in And have a relationship with God So we could come together with Him So that we would know That He's Lord That He's our King That He's our Priest That He was the sacrifice for our sins He was all of that So we've got to see What do you see in Jesus? [27:41] But uh... That's it You know it's like that book that you were reading You know about the friend You know... [27:52] That's it That's it At different times You see all the different aspects of Him You know it's like that book that you were reading You know about the friend You know you see the See the lover side of it for a while But then you see Begin to see that true friend side And you know what a true friend do A true friend tells you just exactly where you're living at And we don't like it sometimes And we get mad Yeah that's it He tells you where you're living at But He helps you get out of it And so it's up to us What we want to do How we want to be Short chapter How much of it do we remember? [28:35] Linda's the only one that ever Here's a kickoff If you have your Bibles tonight Let's turn to Exodus chapter 27 It's been in Chapter 27 for the past three weeks Hallelujah Chapter 27 verse 1 It says Thou shalt make an altar of Chittum wood Five cubits long and five cubits broad The altar shall be four square And the height thereof Shall be three cubits And thou shalt make the horns of it Upon the four corners thereof His horns shall be of the same And thou shalt overlay it with brass [29:38] And thou shalt make his pans To receive his ashes And his shovels And his flesh hooks And his fire pans And his vessels thereof Thou shalt make of brass And thou shalt make for it A grate of network of brass Shalt thou make four brazen rings In the four corners thereof And thou shalt put it Under the compass of the altar beneath That the net may be even In the midst of the altar And thou shalt make staves for the altar Staves of Shittimuth And overlay them with brass And the staves shall be put into the rings And the staves shall be upon the two sides of the altar To bear it Holloweth board shalt thou make it As it was showed thee in the mount So shall they make it Exodus 38 Verse 1 It says here And he made the altar of the burnt offering of Shittimwood Five cubits was the length thereof [30:40] And five cubits the breadth thereof It was four square and three cubits the height thereof And he made the horns thereof on the four corners of it And the horns thereof were of the same And he overlaid it with brass And he made all the vessels of the altar The pots and the shovels and the basins and the flesh hooks And the fire pans and all the vessels thereof And he made for the altar a brazen grate of network Underneath the compass thereof beneath And he cast four rings for the four ends of the grate of the brass To be placed for the staves And he made the staves of Shittimwood And overlaid them with brass And he put the staves into the rings On the sides of the altar to bear it withal He made the altar hollow With boards So tonight we're going to talk about the brazen altar Now as you come into the only gate of the court It's the first piece of furniture in the court And that's the brazen altar [31:43] And then that was followed by the laver of brass And those are the two pieces of furniture that are in the court itself And the... [31:55] We were talking last week About how the gate must have set out You know, so they could get around and all that kind of stuff It was all in line and all in row To get in you've got to go under it You've got to lift the curtain up Then go under so, you know So, you know Instead of trying to lift the thing all the way up over your head You know, you lift it up a little bit and crawl under And so, just like us The only way for us to get to Jesus' blood We've got to humble ourselves We've got to find us a place of prayer And a place of repentance And... [32:39] Crawl to the place where the blood was offered And that was at the brazen altar Glad you could join us, brother And here's the thing The brazen altar was the biggest piece of furniture in the tabernacle Tallest piece Biggest piece And it's the... [32:59] First piece that we see And as... We see that it's at the foot of the cross That the furniture is laid out in Seven pieces of furniture in the Old Testament tabernacle And... [33:11] This is the first one that you come to And then you see that they're laid out Into the form of a cross And here's... Let me see The word altar in Hebrew Means to slay or to kill And as we've been talking about everything Types, you know, Jesus Christ How that... [33:36] He came to become the sacrifice He came to become our altar of sacrifice The place where... The... Sacrifice was slain And it was killed And Jesus was our sacrifice on the cross of Calvary Yes No Gate is not the altar The gate is the entrance into it The altar is the first thing you come to after you come into the gate But the altar is our entrance into God's presence And you've got to come to that place And so the Hebrew word means to slay or to kill Talking to Jesus And so we've got to learn, you know, we've been talking You know that... [34:27] About how the... The tabernacle is the type of the measure of the stature of Christ We want to grow up into God and grow up into Jesus Christ, you know, who is the head That as we look at the tabernacle we see different pictures and different types Of what God is doing And so... [34:46] Here's the thing The altar was used for two things It was used for slaying And for burning Used for slaying and for burning Now the first thing they did was whenever they brought their sacrifice to the priest Was the priest would lay his hands on that animal And that was signifying taking the sins of the people whoever brought the sacrifice Taking the sins of those people and putting it onto that sacrifice And then it was slain and its blood was offered and the body of the Sacrifice itself was offered On the altar and burned And see what it is is Just like a Picture of what Jesus did He came here to bear our judgment You know, we were talking about that earlier He came to bear our judgment to take our sins And he came to become the sacrifice for our sins [35:49] And he took our sins and our judgments to hell And the sacrifice That he paid Unimaginable You know, we say that we love Our children and those who are around us And how much How much would we do for them But very few people that we would lay our Literally lay our life down for And Jesus laid his life down for Would turn him away And shun him So sin was worthy of death and hell And Jesus became that altar to receive that judgment To receive the judgment of that Let's talk just a minute about What it was made out of It says here that it was Shittimwood S-H-I-T-T-I-M [36:53] That's another word for Acacia Wood I don't know very much about it But according to what I've read And what little bit of studied It was a real hard and heavy wood Insects didn't like it at all I guess it would be Comparable to our cedar You know, bugs won't eat cedar They don't like it And so And so it had a pretty grain to it And The way that it grew It didn't grow So anybody who was working with it Had to know what they were doing Grew But it was strong And went in You know, different directions Just you know, something amazing About a plant that's able to grow like that And here the most amazing thing about it Was able to survive [37:55] Where they were at Where they were at They were in a desert They were in a wilderness place And so it was able to survive In an extremely dry and rocky environment And so And there was something within that Plant That gave it strength And it was able to Push through dry ground You ever try and dig a hole in real dry ground? [38:25] It's not very fun You take the ground that had a little bit of rain on it Ground that's dry and ain't had no rain in forever It's pretty much hard as a rock And so you take That and it was able to push it through On through all this dry ground Even able to bust rock open To go through rock To go through rock To find a place All it had to do was Find a little bitty And it was through it It was going to get to where it can find Some water Turn over to Isaiah chapter 53 and verse 2 Isaiah 53 and 2 Isaiah 53 and 2 Isaiah 53 and 2 says [39:28] For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant And as a root Out of dry ground He hath no form nor comeliness And when we shall see him There is no beauty that we should Desire him Now this is talking about Jesus We're talking about this Whatever you want to say Shittimwood tree S-H-I-T-T-A Is what it was And it was a tree so And what it was It was actually a picture of The humanity of Christ That would That would When he walked here on this earth People didn't really notice him When he was doing his miracles They liked it And they wanted to be around him But there wasn't really anything about him That was attractive That would cause anybody To desire to be around him And to be able to touch him The miracles that he performed Is what caused people To want to be near him [40:30] And so Here's the thing Sometimes God will put us In a dry rocky place So that We can learn To look to Jesus Where's he at? [40:43] He's on the inside What does tree use? Does tree use something That was on the inside To cause it to push down Through the rocks To get to the place Where it could find nourishment And so sometimes God will put us In a dry place In a rocky place In a place where we can't seem Like we can get anything For us to be able to push through And find that Jesus is there On the inside And he's the one That's providing the nourishment And he's the one That's going to take care of us And so Instead of murmuring Complaining You know That we can be grounded in him And so we can flourish And grow Through the driest times In our life No matter what it is And so it was made out of this wood But then it was overlaid with brass What's brass represent? [41:33] Judgment Brass represents judgment And here's the thing You know We discussed it several times Jesus came to bear Our judgment And while he walked here There were Several Judgments that he carried And we were reading here in Isaiah And we talked about a few of them Says first that he had no form Or comeliness And so Jesus Didn't have a beautiful appearance He wasn't a supermodel Or anything like that He didn't have a beautiful appearance Wasn't anything magnificent About him As You know And While he walked here He was covered But he was covered In rejection And hatred Nobody liked him They liked him when he was feeding people [42:35] They liked him when he was healing people But after a while When it came right down to it They're ready Okay crucify him So he would Bore that judgment And here's the thing What do we dwell on? [42:51] We dwell on Outward appearance 99% of the time We worry about How we look And how we're How people are going to perceive us Instead of worrying about What's on the inside What's on the inside Is what's going to carry us through You know And what's on the inside Will manifest itself on the outside So it's up to us How we live How we do And then We go on And we see that he was despised And he was Rejected That's one of the judgments That he bore for us What do we worry about? [43:24] We worry about it Everybody liking us We want everybody to like us We want everybody to accept us And we want everybody to be pleased In what we're doing When what we ought to be doing Is what Jesus did What he did Do not my will But the will of my father Who sent me And so what we got to be doing Is we got to be worried About doing what our father in heaven Would want us to do Instead of worrying about What we desire to do He bore our sorrows and griefs It says in the word That he was a man Acquainted with grief And sorrows And sorrows He knew about disease He healed many people That had many diseases Worst disease he knew about Was sin And the thing with it is He bore our sins He became our judgment For our sins And carried that for us And then he was covered With the wounds of our transgressions And bruises of our iniquities [44:26] Were upon him Why did he take the stripes on his back? Why was he beaten? Why was he mocked? It was all for us It wasn't for him to gain any glory out of it But it was all for us It was for us That we might Be brought back into fellowship with him And then he received stripes And then he said And then he said He said I was reading In the Hebrew translation It reads that Through his bruises Was healing granted to us We know how the scripture says And by his stripes Depending on where you read it at It says we are healed Or we were healed So it's up to us So he came here to this earth And carried our judgments for us And for the purpose of setting us free Making an altar So that he can live In our lives [45:27] And through the steps
