[0:00] Hello. I just thank you tonight. I broke my elbow last week and it could have turned out real bad, but as you see, I ain't got no cast on it. You know, God's good. He's good. I thought, Lord, do you know I gotta get some work. I said, I'd love to go through this. I said, any other time.

[0:23] But right now I gotta get some work. And I need some money, so I need this to be a quick thing. I don't mind if I go through a little bit, pain, suffering. That needs to be a quick thing. But nevertheless, not my will, but your will. You know? And he's taking care of things.

[0:41] Because a week ago I couldn't even pick his Bible up. So the doctor told me to start working with it. He said, I'm just gonna be back to normal 100%. I just thank the Lord tonight.

[0:53] I was hoping one of my buddies from out in the world, in fact, my whole life he was gonna be here tonight, but circumstances made where he couldn't make it. But anyway, I want to talk tonight about my Jesus.

[1:10] How much he loves me. How much he loves all of us. And how he wants us, he just wants to love us. He wants to love us so much.

[1:21] You know, we get caught up. We get caught up in trying to make it. And trying to do this. And trying to do that. But all we gotta do, like Brother Van said earlier, is get down on our face. And seek him. You know, seek his face.

[1:34] And be humble before the Lord. And realize that we have nothing. We ain't got nothing. Even our cars we drive. Even the houses we live in. Even the clothes we wear. Even the bodies we're in.

[1:46] We have nothing. Nothing is ours. We don't own anything. It's all his. So therefore, when he gives it to us, we have to lay it all back down to the altar.

[1:59] Back to him. In humility. In humbleness of mind before the Lord. You have to always. You know, every morning is my time. And, you know, it was easier when I first got saved.

[2:11] Because I literally didn't have anything. But still, something tells me every morning, give it all back to Jesus. Give it all back to him.

[2:23] Because, you know, we start, we get, we get all these gifts from God. And we start getting, getting somewhere in life. And, you know, I'm starting school next month. And I'm sure good job's on its way.

[2:34] You know, something where I'm not gonna have to just push and toll all day long. Where I get to use my mind. Where, where, where, uh, things that my ideas will count in the workplace. You know, things where, where I'll actually be a needed person there.

[2:48] You know, and, and, and all that's God. That's, that's all God. That's all what he did. He took, uh, uh, uh, strung out, uh, wannabe dope dealer and, and, and drug addict and everything else.

[2:59] And he turned him into what you see today. You know, I didn't have nothing to do with it. Except for I knew that I didn't have nothing. I didn't have nothing. You know, I, we was going, we went down to that funeral.

[3:13] Then on the way back, we stopped in Irvington. It's like whenever I get down in the country and things, there's a lot of things that I did in my past that were all, you know, from here to Owensboro. And memories, the memories start coming back and things that you thought you forgot.

[3:28] Because, you know, forgetting them things past and, you know, looking at them things forward, you press towards Mark. But sometimes them memories get thrown up. Like, you know, when Paul consented to the stoning of Stephen.

[3:42] Them things were, the devil was constantly trying to throw them back up in his face. I started thinking how that one time me and my dad, we were out doing some ungodly stuff that I don't care to mention.

[3:57] But we were, we stopped at this little store. I was sitting out in the car with my old, with my old dog. You know, he was going with us. We were going somewhere. We shouldn't be in, but we stopped there to get us a Coke or something.

[4:11] And he went in the store. And this guy, he started saying some things to a woman that my dad just didn't like. He didn't like disrespecting women. Plus, we'd been up for about a week, you know, on drugs and everything else.

[4:25] I'm not trying to give the devil any glory. I'm trying to give the Lord some glory tonight. But you got to know this story. Because sometimes these stories, I know why God gives them back to you. God allows the devil to throw that in my face.

[4:37] See, what the devil always means for bad, God means for good. And I know this. Better, I know this. If nobody else in here knows this, I know this. Brother Van, that's my mom.

[4:51] Somebody give God a praise tonight. Somebody give God some praise. We ain't got to get all calm. I need help. I'm human.

[5:03] I'm waiting on God right now. See, I don't know what I'm doing. And you know, that story when we was in there, and all of a sudden I turn around, and I look, and all of a sudden this guy is all up against the door.

[5:17] I said, oh man, Dad done got in a fight. And it's a good thing that I forgot the pistols that were under the seat. Because, you know, I thought it was going to get really bad. But I forgot to grab it.

[5:28] Thank God I did. I thank God every day I did. Because we were not in our right minds. You know, we were insane. We were up for seven, eight days at a time. You know, and at this point we were probably up for four or five.

[5:39] You know, so we were not in our right mind. We were not even seeing straight to drive and things like that. You know, had to stop and get a Mountain Dew every five minutes because, you know, we just needed to stay awake to get to where we were going.

[5:50] And, I mean, it was bad. And all of a sudden I seen him. But I knew I wasn't going to let my daddy get hurt, you know. So I run in there with my knife. And Dad already had him cornered with his knife.

[6:02] And I was like, you better give it up. You better just get out of here. Because this man is mad at you. I don't know what happened. You get him mad at you. But you don't want him mad at you. I said, because he's going to do something to you.

[6:14] And it's not going to be nice. And if he runs at you, I'm going to be forced to run at you because that's my daddy. Well, he took off running around the store trying to chase my dad. Well, about that time, Dad just started picking up shells and throwing them at him.

[6:27] And I was holding the door. I was like, if you want out, I'll let you get out. But if you go at my dad and y'all lock up, I said, I'm getting in there. Well, anyway, ended up after about two more minutes.

[6:39] And the cops never came this whole time. Thank God. That guy says, I'm going to get y'all. He said, you don't even know us. And you don't even know who you're talking to because we thought we was digging bad and all that stuff.

[6:51] And at that time, you know, we could have had much little shootout. We had enough weapons and drugs and guns in the car to send us to prison each for 50 to 100 years. And that is no understatement.

[7:02] I mean, it's not an overstatement. It's probably an understatement. And I just go to show, you know. Now, today, 2002, I stand right here.

[7:15] 2003. I stand right here saved, sanctified, and delivered. I'm not that guy that Brother Van didn't want to see walking down the road anymore.

[7:28] See, I'm changed. People say, how did it happen? Well, it happened through Jesus. Well, how did that happen? How did you get in the presence of Jesus? I got on my face.

[7:39] Once he got, I come to him, I was broken. I was ready to put a 44 in my mouth and blow my brains out. But Jesus Christ himself intervened. He saved me. He sanctified me.

[7:49] And he delivered me. And he changed me. And he's still doing the work. He's still changing me. He's still changing us, Brother Van. He's converting us. He's getting us back to that place.

[9:36] It said, Luke 12, 12 says, take no thought what you're going to say. For the Holy Ghost is going to teach you in the same hour that y'all are saved. The Holy Ghost.

[9:47] See? I take the Spirit any day. Because the Spirit's going to rearrange it. Me and Bobby was talking about. The Spirit's going to make it all come together. It ain't nothing I could have did.

[16:17] I'd have told you the precise amount it was over my head a spiritual measurement and it was pretty far over my head sometimes it felt like a hundred foot you know but I wrote them scriptures down I started saying God I want you to show it to me like you showed it to me I want to see what he was talking about tonight I am not I am determined I want to know this God I got to get down here and know this this is what's going I knew I didn't know what it was about what he was talking but I knew what he was about I knew that I felt the spirit in it and God said hey you know what you got to find that out I said well you got to show it to me because I don't know I can't I can't I can't figure this stuff out I heard a good friend of mine the other day he was reading before he went to bed and he said man I can't understand nothing in this book I said well just keep on just keep on praying he's going to do it he's going to open it up hey when you get broken and you start admitting that you can't and you don't know anything and you don't got nothing you start really getting that meaning that in your heart and you don't know the way that's when the way steps in and he starts leading you and guiding you that's when he starts moving in you that's when that broken and contrite spirit becomes a fortitude in him in him that's when you step into the tower the strong refuge of his name that's when he becomes the lord of lords and king of kings to you that's when it's no longer you that lives but it's him that's living in you because he's holy so it ain't got nothing to do with us he makes us holy because we get in him and he gets in us he said by that which was by that which apprehended me that which came and pulled me out of the pit that which came and got me out of that old pit of hell you know and we you know we lose our gratefulness sometimes our gratitude we gotta have a constant attitude of gratitude even when you don't feel thankful try to find something to be thankful that's the best time to find something to be thankful about that's the best time because if you don't

[26:57] Jews knew that there was a Savior being born because they were looking for a sign see and through that sign they found out that he was the Messiah but still the whole thing about it is they still had half truth they were still looking at things through carnal eyes but they were still looking for a sign the world's looking for a sign right now I seen I seen a thing at the counter of a grocery store the other day it said are you a psychic man I've been I've been this God's been showing me that this was going to happen for a long time when I seen a little pamphlet it said are you a psychic now I've seen them in bookstores before because I used to get into all that new age stuff but when I seen it in a bookstore right I mean right there on the corner cap are you a psychic some kind of checklist how to tap into the potential of your mind this is the lie that we are gods that we can be like God the same lie that Satan bit off into and fell from heaven over there and then the same lie that Adam and Eve bit off into when they already were like God but that doesn't matter because that was in his plan and thank God they bit that apple or whatever it was thank God they bit that fruit because now we get a chance

[28:26] God has bestowed on us such a glorious chance to be able to be pulled from that darkness to be able to be turned around to the truth to get down on our face and start finding the way to stay in bounds of his narrow way to stay in the bounds to keep climbing up many climbers took the treacherous ways all the ways and they fall and they die but if you take his way he gives you a rope he gives you the pick he gives you the shoes he gives you the full armor of God he gives you the full armor of God to go up this mountain to go through these valleys that are on the way to this mountain see it's a mountain the holy hill is mountains and valleys and mountains and valleys and mountains and valleys and it's constantly going up the man showed me this in a picture he didn't even know what he was showing me when I first got saved I come in there murmuring or griping about something

[29:26] I don't know what I was doing belly aching I said Rebells don't know what's wrong with me I said I should be happy about everything but right now I was bawling there he said well something happened and he was really nice about it he really chewed me up he's really nice about it he drew me a little drawing of these little mountains and hills and he said once you get through this valley and then the next valley and on up a little bit you'll realize that this valley is higher than the previous mountain than the mountain before last you'll start realizing that you are growing even though these valleys and trust and trials come but you're growing more in the valley because the cliff's going to wear you out and you're going to need to find rest in the valley and he started showing me this and God has been putting it together for a long time and God's been putting my vision of him together for a long time and it's an ongoing thing and by his awesome power we're going to make it

[30:37] I'm going to make it tonight not me but Christ in me is going to make it because it longs for the Christ on top of that hill it longs it longs to be in God it longs to be in the divine eternal bosom of the Father so that he can share his secrets with us it longs for us I love him tonight and I don't know anything in the hope of God I just know one thing that Jesus Christ is Lord they say to me that he is first you must believe that he is and he is a rewarder to them that diligently seek him well it's wise to diligently seek him in humility to every day give your life back to him so it says he that endures to the end the same shall be saved we're saved by faith in his blood and all that and not by works and all that but he that endures to the end the same shall be saved that's what the word says and I just thank him tonight for being holy for giving me opportunities to be used by him you know what it feels like everybody really knew what it feels like they want God to use them to because it feels like at times especially when you say you ain't got nothing to say he says alright well come on up here with me and I'll take care of that and he yanks you out of your body and starts walking up there talking to you hugging on you loving on you and while you're out of your body and the body's in the pulpit

[32:31] God's in your body and he's telling them all about him God's using your body that's why I say it it's not me up here it's not anything I do anything I say and whether it was just me and brother Van talking or whether it was Sunday morning or Wednesday morning or Wednesday afternoon or Monday morning or Tuesday morning or Tuesday night at 3 in the morning or whatever day that you want to lift up the name and you want to talk about the Lord we can do it we can have church we can call on him we can get him with us and he can take care of our problem we can call one another thank God for a telephone we can curse it and thank God for it but we can thank God for being able to get together in the Lord and to have one another because we're all climbers on that hill we're all climbing up that hill we're in different parts and different stages but when that in the spirit everything's at the same place at the same time everything's omnipresent so in actuality yeah we're in different spots but we're right there with each other too another vision in the hand that's the spirit the barren wasteland the glory cloud of God way off in in points of light you know take this how you want

[34:02] I'm just throwing it out the points of light I knew what certain ones were I knew who they were and brother Van was one of them and brother Daryl was one of them and we were in different places but we were all in the same place we all were there communing we were all the body see the cloud was the head the points of light were all together gathered together and they were the body they were the shekinah rays of the Lord shooting out and we were all together in prayer in one accord remember that first little message I preached continuing daily in one accord was one of ten daily duties of all Christians you know continuing in one accord daily that's part of it part of your responsibility to church part of your responsibility to even more so Jesus Christ is trying to stay in the presence of the Lord I'll take the presence any day over anything because when I got in the presence of God or excuse me when God put his presence in me when he did that then that's what changed me that's when I've seen people get saved that's when people that's when Paul got knocked off his horse when the presence of the Lord the bright light shone that's when things happen that's when God moves that's when Chris got saved that's when Chucky got a touch from the Lord that's when everybody in here got a touch from the Lord is when the presence of God hit them the presence of God that's why we work so hard to try to get it in here because Brother Van knows you know he really just dislikes the weddings and funerals and I don't blame him because I could see it

[35:53] I felt the burden for him every time I've ever seen him do one and I mean he does a wonderful job and I think he's a great speech giver I think he's great for that but the thing is I would you can have it brother you can have it because I'm scared to death to get up there and preach under the anointing but let's try to talk to a bunch of people that you know really can care less what you got to say they're just there for the formality of it all Brother Van today I heard him say I'm just the problem he said y'all look at each other I'm just the problem in other words he's just the formality you know it was just the formality and I just thank God that he's moving in our church might not seem like it ain't packed and full and bremen but in the people that's here he's moving in he's stirring in the hearts of us we're in revival don't let the devil tell you we ain't in revival we've stayed in revival this church has been in revival since I was born and then some this church is in a revival every time we walk in the doors

[37:13] I get revived every time I come here if I don't it's my fault Brother Van God wants to revive us do we want to be revived do we want to lay lay aside the weight do we want to give those worries those burdens to God and that sin that does so easily beset us that does so easily make us slip off that rock and go a little bit and then we look back oh man we're hanging off the cliff now we gotta get going you know gotta get on it that's no mountain for a climber Brother Van we're gonna climb this mountain I'm gonna do it with Jesus Christ's help first and foremost but he also goes further and he gives me Brother Van's help and every one of my brothers and sisters in church for us all to edify one another and build up each other in Jesus Christ and in love we have to build each other up push each other towards the mark see pressing ain't so hard if you got a bunch pressing against you you go ooh everybody pushing get to that mark we're all pushing each other to get there we're gonna get there you start to slip the other one grabs his ankle oh get that ankle back up on there same thing happens to you that's how it is that's just how it is cause God said it

[38:36] I didn't say it I love him tonight I appreciate him I appreciate Brother Van for letting me thank God you used me appreciate God for everything he does and I just say that honor before honor is human before honor is human and that ain't no mountain for a climb because if you just get down you'll see the salvation of your Lord cause see you ever been at one of them places on rock climbing walls this is a good little example where you know the little kids they start to fall off and the people's like well no they paid money so so so they're gonna pull them up they say just hold on to the wall just lay there and hold on just stay still just grab as I pull you up alright that's what Jesus is doing to his children see we fall off we're bound to fall off our righteousness our works is as filthy rags before him we're gonna fall off but when we fall off he's gonna start pulling us up now we might jerk a little bit you ever seen one of those kids fall off and they they might have forgot they might have not pulled the slack totally tight and just kind of jerks them a little bit and scares them you know that's what's gonna happen to us but one of these days there's gonna come a day when the ones that's trying and they're trying their hardest they're saying

[40:01] I can't make it I wanna do it but I can't make it I can't go no further God's just gonna say pull them on up and them ones that are arrogant and they're at the bottom and they're trying to get up there he can pull them up too even some of the arrogant people he's gonna pull up them ones that say I think I'm just gonna take the easy way I think I'm just gonna get on here and fall off just so he'll pull me up I'm gonna I'm gonna just be dead weight they got news coming cause if you're dead weight and you're not trying to pull yourself up them guys they can't pull you up you're either gonna stay where you're at but when when God pulls all them up real quick and they're they're gone the rapture happens the door's gonna shut and all the lines of grace are gonna be broke and it's gonna happen and he's still gonna be gone he's still gonna be holy he says

[41:04] I'll save who I wanna save just thank God they saved you tonight and you pray for all the others lost to get saved you pray with all your earnest heart and don't let the business of doing God's work and working for God get personal to the point to where you know you get all upset I'm guilty of that I got upset a few times God I've been praying for them I've been doing this I've been doing that and then they fall back out and I'm sure it's happening to everybody in here don't let that discourage you because God tells you to pray for them he's got a plan regardless of whether they get saved or not see he said I raised Pharaoh up for that purpose so he could show his glory so he could reveal his glory you see there's just gonna be tears out there there's just gonna be we I wanna be a week
