Paul starts this section with why it is right to be thankful to God, and demonstrates thankfulness is His prayer for the Ephesians. Thankfulness to God is difficult when we collide with His Governance. 1) Thankful for their faith in God and love for each other; their transformation isn't over. 2) This type of change requires prayer; God is the source of the change. 3) There are no competing authorities, Jesus is ruler over all. 4) Ephesians decisively repented and ceased profiting from unrighteousness. 5) Implication vs application.

The church needs prayed for more. Change that brings God praise starts with God.

The trinue God is at work in our salvation:

chosen by God the Father
saved by the Son
sealed by the Holy Spirit

Understanding God's will requires belonging to Christ. Christ is the one who unites; unity only happens in Christ.

A lot can happen between Now and Then, but nothing can separate us from God.

Only by understanding who God is and what He has done can we give Hime true praise. True praise must reflect God as revealed in His word.
