traveled to Thessalonica and many people had believed in Christ. 00:07:14.600 --> 00:07:22.480 But, as many of you know, after only three weeks, they had to flee the town because a mob broke out against them. 00:07:22.780 --> 00:07:23.860 Now, here's the thing. 00:07:23.920 --> 00:07:31.340 Did Paul just move on to the next church planting project and slowly forget about the believers back in Thessalonica? 00:07:31.339 --> 00:07:34.019 In some ways, no one would blame him. 00:07:34.339 --> 00:07:35.079 He was so busy. 00:07:36.000 --> 00:07:39.079 But look back at chapter 2, verse 17. 00:07:39.079 --> 00:07:45.959 And halfway down through that verse, it actually says, Paul says, 00:07:46.219 --> 00:07:51.979 Out of our intense longing, we made every effort to see you. 00:07:53.339 --> 00:07:55.379 And then look down at chapter 3, verse 5. 00:07:56.860 --> 00:07:57.360 He says, 00:07:57.360 --> 00:08:15.139 So a love that cares deeply is a love which longs to be with your family in Christ. 00:08:15.139 --> 00:08:17.520 To do life with them. 00:08:17.519 --> 00:08:22.500 And not just having a polite chat on a Sunday morning and saying, 00:08:23.240 --> 00:08:24.240 I'll be to do life alongside you. 00:08:37.659 --> 00:08:40.000 How does that compare to your attitude and mine? 00:08:40.000 --> 00:08:47.259 Do we seek out opportunities to walk alongside each other in life? 00:08:48.320 --> 00:08:50.039 Or is it just a Sunday thing? 00:08:51.480 --> 00:08:52.659 Or a Wednesday thing? 00:08:55.559 --> 00:09:01.299 Longing to be together is one sign of a love that 00:09:25.379 Halfway down through the verse, he says, 00:09:25.639 --> 00:09:29.159 I was afraid that in some way, 00:09:29.399 --> 00:09:30.359 the tempter, Satan, 00:09:31.159 --> 00:09:32.019 had tempted you. 00:09:32.219 --> 00:09:34.979 And that our labors might have been in vain. 00:09:35.979 --> 00:09:36.299 See there, 00:09:36.299 --> 00:09:41.459 Paul's first concern was not their health or finances or physical safety. 00:09:43.299 --> 00:09:49.359 He was afraid they were drift away from the beauty and eternal safety of Christ. 00:09:50.639 --> 00:09:54.579 That's the worst thing that could possibly happen to them. 00:09:54.979 --> 00:09:58.039 And Paul was gripped with fear that it would. 00:09:58.039 --> 00:10:00.879 And that's real love. 00:10:03.099 --> 00:10:04.939 You don't 00:13:12.919 It's not worth the following Jesus. 00:13:14.639 --> 00:13:15.319 For us, 00:13:15.360 --> 00:13:17.079 it might be some relational suffering 00:13:17.079 --> 00:13:17.779 or some illness 00:13:17.779 --> 00:13:19.059 that's just not going away 00:13:19.059 --> 00:13:21.019 and Satan is tempting us. 00:13:21.079 --> 00:13:21.659 He's telling us, 00:13:22.299 --> 00:13:23.000 God isn't
