This is what's going to answer those questions. 00:04:37.360 --> 00:04:47.620 This is what's going to give life purpose and meaning and direction, even in the midst of the trials and the struggles and Jesus says at the end of chapter 14, arise, let us go hence. 00:06:15.759 --> 00:06:19.819 So in other words, Jesus has the 11 and he's walking and they're going to the garden. 00:06:19.899 --> 00:06:21.679 And we all know what's going to happen in the garden. 00:06:21.680 --> 00:06:30.920 Judas is going to bring the men and they're going to arrest Jesus and they're going to take him and crucify him. 00:06:32.860 --> 00:06:35.400 You know, Jesus knew exactly what was going to happen. 00:06:36.740 --> 00:06:40.740 He knew exactly the struggle these men were going to face. 00:06:40.740 --> 00:06:47.240 Because everything they had invested in was going to get turned upside down in their mind. 00:06:47.699 --> 00:06:55.100 You know, sometimes when we get caught up and get our eyes off that Jesus was the one that they were looking for. 00:07:18.579 --> 00:07:21.859 That had been prophesied, that they had been told from a youth, 00:07:22.259 --> 00:07:23.319 this is the one. 00:07:23.659 --> 00:07:26.120 And he's soon to go to a cross and die. 00:07:26.419 --> 00:07:27.819 Their world went upside down. 00:07:30.039 --> 00:07:33.699 As we look at John 15, I want you to pay attention closely. 00:07:33.699 --> 00:07:40.000 Because what Jesus is doing is preparing his disciples for when life goes upside down. 00:07:41.920 --> 00:07:43.139 You know what he's doing? 00:07:43.259 --> 00:07:48.740 He's also recording for us what we need to do when life goes upside down. 00:07:49.759 --> 00:07:55.819 When life goes what seems out of control to us, that God is still taking place here. 00:11:23.279 --> 00:11:25.779 Because we need to clarify something. 00:11:25.960 --> 00:11:27.620 Because who's he speaking to here? 00:11:27.620 --> 00:11:29.460 Context in the scripture is important. 00:11:31.360 --> 00:11:35.379 Because you can never abide in the vine of Jesus Christ 00:11:35.379 --> 00:11:37.360 if there's never been a moment in your life 00:11:37.360 --> 00:11:39.480 when you understood you're a sinner 00:11:39.480 --> 00:11:42.220 and called upon him to be a savior. 00:11:43.440 --> 00:11:47.139 That his saving power is effectual in your life. 00:11:47.960 --> 00:11:50.580 The Bible says that you're placed in Christ. 00:11:51.960 --> 00:11:55.080 You are in Christ at the moment of salvation. 00:11:55.080 --> 00:12:00.720 You're from one family and born again into another family. 00:12:01.440 --> 00:12:04.060 There's a distinction of where you're placed. 00:12:04.520 --> 00:12:07.759 And there's only one way and that's through Jesus Christ. 00:12:08.080 --> 00:12:10.360 But we need to stay connected to the vine. 00:12:10.600 --> 00:12:13.020 Now, I want you to understand, he's not talking to his disciples 00:12:13.020 --> 00:12:17.020 about losing their place with him. 00:12:17.379 --> 00:12:18.940 He's talking here directly. 00:12:18.940 --> 00:12:21.560 This whole passage has to do with fruitfulness. 00:12:22.140 --> --> 00:13:05.979 It's the great I am. 00:13:05.980 --> 00:13:12.420 I want you to understand that Jesus is not just something that you participate in. 00:13:13.680 --> 00:13:15.700 Jesus is the vine. the true vine. 00:13:38.019 --> 00:13:39.079 I am the one. 00:13:39.419 --> 00:13:41.379 You know, John 8, he says this. 00:13:41.519 --> 00:13:45.480 Verily, verily, I say unto you, before Abraham was, I am. 00:13:45.899 --> 00:13:52.139 This before this in John 14, he says, I am the way, the truth, and the life. 00:13:52.240 --> 00:13:54.779 And no man cometh unto the Father but by me. 00:13:55.000 --> 00:13:57.539 And now he says, I am the true vine. 00:13:57.539 --> 00:14:04.579 I want you to know and understand something because if you're not in the vine of Jesus Christ, 00:14:04.719 --> 00:14:06.559 you might be planted someplace else. 00:14:06.819 --> 00:14:10.279 Because the reality is, is people will put themselves someplace. 00:14:11.659 --> 00:14:14.199 They'll be attached to a wrong vine. 00:14:14.279 --> 00:14:16.099 If there's a true vine, you know what it tells me? 00:14:16.139 --> 00:14:17.019 There's a false vine. 00:14:17.019 --> 00:14:21.179 The world offers a lot of things to get attached to. 00:14:22.779 --> 00:14:25.319 That hold our attention, hold our focus. 00:14:27.079 --> 00:14:28.679 Grab a hold of us. 00:14:29.179 --> 00:14:37.919 When we see these things, that this branch is important because it is from the vine that our life brings forth. 00:14:38.319 --> 00:14:39.059 It's a life. 00:14:39.199 --> 00:14:40.460 It's a YouTube and podcasts and, you know, some guru that specializes in something gives you a good speech. 00:16:12.480 --> 00:16:15.679 And people guide their life from it and they miss the very thing. planted thee a noble vine, holy or right seed? 00:17:00.240 --> 00:17:05.120 How then art thou turned into a degenerate plant of a strange vine unto me? 00:17:05.440 --> 00:17:08.640 You know, Israel was a picture of a vine in the Old Testament. 00:17:08.640 --> 00:17:13.600 And they needed to be in what God wanted them to be. 00:17:14.120 --> 00:17:16.180 And you know, Psalm 80 tells us this. 00:17:16.240 --> 00:17:18.100 Thou hast brought a vine out of Egypt. 00:17:18.259 --> 00:17:20.960 Thou hast cast out the heathen and planted it. 00:17:21.020 --> 00:17:24.400 Thou preparest room before it and discaused it to take deep root. 00:17:24.740 --> 00:17:26.300 And it filled the land. 00:17:26.380 --> 00:17:27.460 And down in verse 12 it says, 00:17:27.460 --> 00:17:29.559 Why hast thou broken down her hedges? 00:17:29.980 --> 00:17:34.120 That all they that pass by the way do pluck her. 00:17:36.120 --> 00:17:37.380 Verse 14 goes, 00:17:37.559 --> 00:17:39.700 Return, we beseech thee, O God of hosts. 00:17:39.819 --> 00:17:43.299 Look down from heaven and behold and visit this vine. 00:17:43.620 --> 00:17:46.380 And the vineyard which thy right hand hath planted.
