00:13:36.440 --> 00:13:38.519 One day, an expert, verse 25. 00:13:38.639 --> 00:13:41.899 One day, an expert in religious law stood up to test Jesus. 00:13:42.519 --> 00:13:45.019 You'd think these guys would have gotten tired of that at some point. 00:13:45.080 --> 00:13:48.740 Because they always failed when they tried to catch Jesus off guard. 00:13:49.539 --> 00:13:50.920 So, they asked him this question. 00:13:51.019 --> 00:13:54.399 Teacher, what should I do to inherit eternal life? 00:13:54.399 --> 00:13:58.879 This was a common question that someone in the temple would ask a rabbi. happening here in Luke chapter 10? 00:15:54.419 --> 00:15:58.679 Jesus is using this fictional story to illustrate a point. 00:15:59.439 --> 00:16:02.559 And he uses the road between Jerusalem and Jericho. 00:16:03.779 --> 00:16:05.479 It was a road travel. 00:16:05.659 --> 00:16:07.239 Jericho was a very wealthy city. 00:16:07.579 --> 00:16:10.079 Obviously, Jerusalem was an incredible city. so, a lot of important people are crossing the road between Jerusalem and Jericho. 00:16:19.980 --> 00:16:21.919 A lot of money traveling along this road. 00:16:22.059 --> 00:16:23.559 So, bandits would lie in wait. 00:16:23.980 --> 00:16:26.459 It was a rocky road up on mountains. 00:16:26.579 --> 00:16:30.740 And so, they would lie in wait, hide out in some of the clefts of these rocks. 00:38:48.059 --> 00:38:50.000 He taught principles of evangelism 00:38:50.000 --> 00:38:51.339 or sharing Jesus with other people. 00:38:51.340 --> 00:38:55.380 And so Dr. Fish, I heard tell a story 00:38:55.380 --> 00:38:56.940 that I thought was amazing. 00:38:57.680 --> 00:38:59.340 And I've heard others reference this story. 00:39:00.039 --> 00:39:01.780 He had a seminary student in class 00:39:01.780 --> 00:39:04.000 who came up to him before class one day 00:39:04.000 --> 00:39:07.500 and said, hey, I'm pastoring a small church 00:39:07.500 --> 00:39:08.660 outside of Fort Worth 00:39:08.660 --> 00:39:11.900 and we're going to have a revival in the fall 00:39:11.900 --> 00:39:12.680 or the spring. 00:39:12.800 --> 00:39:13.820 I'm sorry, this was a fall semester. 00:39:13.940 --> 00:39:15.460 He said, we're going to have a revival in the spring. 00:39:15.460 --> 00:39:17.199 And I would love if you would come 00:39:17.199 --> 00:39:19.860 and be the featured guest speaker 00:40:11.519 and even traveling to other nations. 00:40:11.619 --> 00:40:12.519 It's been a long time 00:40:12.519 --> 00:40:14.739 since we've seen something like that in America. 00:40:15.619 --> 00:40:16.960 So Dr. Fish says, 00:40:17.239 --> 00:40:19.380 you put that on your calendar? 00:40:20.219 --> 00:40:21.559 How do you know God's going to do that? 00:40:23.619 --> 00:40:26.799 I think what the young man meant to say was, 00:40:27.239 --> 00:40:29.460 we're going to schedule a meeting 00:40:29.460 --> 00:40:32.319 where we pray and ask God 00:40:32.319 --> 00:40:33.719 to send us a revival. 00:40:34.079 --> 00:40:38.019 He said, let's be careful how we think about this. 00:40:38.539 --> 00:40:40.239 Revival isn't something you can schedule. 00:40:40.799 --> 00:40:42.239 It's
