series in the first epistle 00:03:48.380 --> 00:03:50.900 or letter written by the Apostle Peter. 00:03:51.640 --> 00:04:00.520 It's a letter written to equip us as God's people to live as sojourners or exiles or resident aliens 00:04:00.520 --> 00:04:02.840 in this world, in Ottawa. 00:04:03.920 --> 00:04:07.760 That call does not mean we are to live as people just passing through, 00:04:07.759 --> 00:04:13.859 without care or concern with the situation or people or city around us, 00:04:13.899 --> 00:04:20.719 but rather we are called as sojourners to be people who work and strive to see the good news of the gospel 00:04:20.719 --> 00:04:24.219 transform our city in small ways and large ways. 00:04:26.139 --> 00:04:32.920 As the grace and peace that is given to us in the gospel multiplies in our lives, 00:04:33.480 --> 00:04:37.000 Peter tells us that we are then to extend it out. 00:04:37.000 --> 00:04:41.319 If you remember last week, we were only in two verses, verses 1 00:08:48.859 and the story of Israel 00:08:48.859 --> 00:08:50.000 all throughout Genesis, 00:08:50.179 --> 00:08:51.199 all throughout the Old Testament. 00:08:51.859 --> 00:08:52.599 It was a promise 00:08:52.599 --> 00:08:54.679 that Israel gripped tight 00:08:54.679 --> 00:08:55.439 as they wandered 00:08:55.439 --> 00:08:56.159 through the desert 00:08:56.159 --> 00:08:57.539 after God
