faithful witness. 00:00:41.539 --> 00:00:45.640 The word witness comes from a Greek word that we get the word martyr from. 00:00:45.900 --> 00:00:51.560 And I'm guessing when you hear the word martyr, you're thinking of someone who dies for a cause, 00:00:52.600 --> 00:00:55.020 someone who dies even for the faith. 00:00:55.020 --> 00:01:01.160 Well, back in the first century, martyr was simply used to bear testimony to something, 00:01:01.340 --> 00:01:02.620 to bear witness. 00:01:02.780 --> 00:01:06.799 And so if there was a police, there's an accident out here on 60th and Sheridan, 00:01:06.900 --> 00:01:11.420 the police there would say, hey, we need some martyrs to give their accounts of what happened. 00:01:12.159 --> 00:01:18.159 Or if you go to court to bear witness, you go up into the martyr stand, the witness stand. 00:01:18.159 --> 00:01:28.439 What witnessing is, is bearing testimony to your Lord Jesus. 00:01:30.219 --> 00:01:37.679 Being, bearing testimony to his what first should catch your attention, 00:06:51.879 --> 00:06:52.620 is the word seven. 00:06:53.160 --> 00:06:54.160 Seven's all throughout, 00:06:54.240 --> 00:06:55.060 the book of Revelation. 00:06:55.639 --> 00:06:57.040 And what seven is, 00:06:57.240 --> 00:06:58.120 is a number that, 00:06:58.240 --> 00:06:59.920 every Jew would understand, 00:07:00.300 --> 00:07:01.879 represents completeness, 00:07:02.379 --> 00:07:02.780 fullness, 00:07:03.300 --> 00:07:03.879 kind of like the, 00:07:04.120 --> 00:07:04.560 finally, 00:07:04.860 --> 00:07:05.220 yes, 00:07:05.420 --> 00:07:06.240 consummation. 00:07:07.740 --> 00:07:08.540 The number seven, 00:07:08.660 --> 00:07:09.259 is to a Jew, 00:07:09.379 --> 00:07:10.220 is what the number nine, 00:07:10.300 --> 00:07:11.920 is to a pregnant woman. 00:07:11.920 --> 00:07:14.160 Finally, 00:07:14.480 --> 00:07:14.780 fullness, 00:07:15.060 --> 00:07:15.720 completeness. 00:07:19.560 --> 00:07:20.860 And what the Roman Emperor, 00:08:26.780 --> 00:08:27.800 his name was Domitian. 00:08:29.540 --> 00:08:31.160 And when he became Emperor, 00:08:31.980 --> 00:08:33.040 he wanted to, 00:08:33.040 --> 00:08:35.180 unite his empire. 00:08:35.179 --> 00:08:37.319 And so, 00:08:37.399 --> 00:08:37.859 he commanded, 00:08:38.019 --> 00:08:39.120 all of his citizens, 00:08:39.339 --> 00:08:40.139 and
