it clear that he considers this every Christian's commitment. 00:11:16.360 --> 00:11:18.039 Look at this verse. 00:11:18.539 --> 00:11:27.039 After he talked about how he wasn't perfect, he hadn't arrived, he strained to become more of what he should be, 00:11:27.120 --> 00:11:28.720 to know Christ, to become like him. 00:11:29.580 --> 00:11:33.460 He said, let those of us who are mature think this way. 00:11:33.460 --> 00:11:40.280 And if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal that also to you. 00:11:41.860 --> 00:11:45.060 Paul's writing to the church that he loved. 00:11:46.960 --> 00:11:52.360 He's not talking here to or about false teachers. 00:11:54.040 --> 00:12:01.620 He's trying to help them all to understand what I'm explaining about being a growing Christian, being a Rome. 00:16:42.379 --> 00:16:43.319 He's a prisoner. 00:16:43.320 --> 00:16:46.379 At all times, he's chained to a Roman soldier. 00:16:46.860 --> 00:16:54.280 He is awaiting trial before the emperor who could pronounce him guilty of whatever and have him executed. 00:16:56.620 --> 00:16:58.500 That's a terrible situation to be in, isn't it? 00:16:59.300 --> 00:17:01.600 But Paul made the best of it. 00:17:02.640 --> 00:17:05.160 One of the ways he did it, he's focused on other people, not himself. 00:17:06.220 --> 00:17:09.779 When Paul was under house arrest here, he couldn't go anywhere. really. 00:17:41.240 --> 00:17:44.960 But instead of having a pity party, feeling sorry for himself, he focused on other people. 00:17:45.140 --> 00:17:46.800 He made the best of the bad situation. gospel as a result of him being in prison there in Rome. 00:18:11.000 --> 00:18:17.939 Some of the people in Caesar's imperial guard were being exposed to the gospel because they were guarding him. 00:18:19.240 --> 00:18:20.579 And so he thanked God for that. 00:18:21.939 --> 00:18:26.199 Later on in chapter 2, at the end of chapter 2, he holds up two examples, Timothy and Epaphroditus. of what Christian commitment looks like in daily life. 00:18:59.680 --> 00:19:02.859 But I want us to think about some current examples. 00:19:04.440 --> 00:19:07.559 We, in the world in which we live today, in today's culture, 00:19:08.319 --> 00:19:16.980 we need a lot more of living examples of Christian commitment here in this church, 00:19:16.980 --> 00:19:22.360 in this whole Pickens Christians are responsible for finding suitable examples to emulate, 00:19:38.740 --> 00:19:47.120 then, of course, when we do, we shall become suitable examples whom others will emulate. 00:19:47.980
