formality, that they were going through the motions, and yet there was something missing, something that needed to be addressed. 00:00:49.960 --> 00:00:57.520 Now we know, don't we, and just from a 00:01:24.899 And they did not shout out in danger. 00:01:25.000 --> 00:01:28.479 They were dogs that when enemies approached, the dogs didn't bark. 00:01:29.199 --> 00:01:32.719 When an intruder came in, they just lay in the sunshine. 00:01:34.099 --> 00:01:36.419 They were meant to be shepherds, the people of Israel. 00:01:36.420 --> 00:01:44.879 They were caring for and nourishing and cherishing the people of God, rather than ignoring them and doing their own thing and pleasing themselves. 00:01:45.939 --> 00:01:52.980 And so God comes at the start of chapter 58, and he says, I want you to do speaking to? 00:03:40.699 --> 00:03:42.119 Look at the beginning of verse 2. 00:03:42.120 --> 00:03:45.319 They are spiritual people. 00:03:47.120 --> 00:03:50.379 They may even appear to be super spiritual people. 00:03:51.280 --> 00:03:53.340 They are the kind of people that make you feel guilty. 00:03:54.560 --> 00:03:57.060 They are the kind of people in verse 2 that make you feel inadequate. 00:03:58.379 --> 00:04:00.360 The kind of people maybe that you don't want to be anywhere near. 00:04:00.560 --> 00:04:02.840 And this is why, because verse 2, they seek me daily. at the start. 00:08:01.699 --> 00:08:02.600 They treat me daily. 00:08:02.680 --> 00:08:03.939 They delight to know my ways. 00:08:04.019 --> 00:08:04.800 But read on. 00:08:06.400 --> 00:08:09.720 As if they were a nation that did righteousness. 00:08:10.879 --> 00:08:13.420 And did not forsake the judgment of their God. 00:08:13.420 --> 00:08:14.580 The devil's in the detail. 00:08:16.360 -->
