that we're looking at, Psalm 51, was written by an incredible, godly man after God's own heart. 00:01:41.280 --> 00:01:45.199 He was the king of Israel and the king by which all other kings after him were compared to. 00:01:45.200 --> 00:01:49.420 He's the gold standard of what it means to be a good king and even a good man. 00:01:50.159 --> 00:01:55.719 So much so that God promised him that the Messiah of Israel, the Savior of the world, 00:01:55.799 --> 00:02:00.579 would come from his descendants, his line, because he loved God so much and God honored that. 00:02:00.939 --> 00:02:03.980 This was a man, a giant of a man, a giant in the faith. 00:02:04.640 --> 00:02:09.920 And yet, he finds himself in bed with another man's wife, his best friend's wife. 00:02:09.919 --> 00:02:16.500 They conceive a child, and he tries to cover up his sin by bringing back his best friend from the battlefield 00:02:16.500 --> 00:02:18.899 so it would look like it was his best friend's son. is when, after nine months, the prophet Nathan, a friend of David's, comes to him, 00:03:01.699 --> 00:03:06.419 and he, in this beautiful, prophetic, poetic way, confronts David of his sin.
