to diligently apply your mind to it. 00:11:23.159 --> 00:11:29.399 To give serious, prolonged, and careful attention to Jesus. 00:11:30.500 --> 00:11:32.659 He's the object of our consideration. 00:25:28.640 Moses. 00:25:29.200 --> 00:25:30.559 And that is Christ. 00:25:31.980 --> 00:25:32.640 Now you might say, 00:25:32.740 --> 00:25:36.279 well, how could he tell the Hebrews that Moses was faithful? 00:25:36.779 --> 00:25:39.700 Moses didn't even get to enter into the promised land. 00:25:39.779 --> 00:25:40.779 He didn't enter into Canaan 00:25:40.779 --> 00:25:42.700 because he wasn't completely faithful. 00:25:43.500 --> 00:25:44.379 And that's the point is, 00:25:44.559 --> 00:25:46.740 as much as he was faithful to the covenant, 00:25:47.039 --> 00:25:49.059 he could not actually build the house. 00:25:50.240 --> 00:25:52.639 He was a sinner just like us, and he failed. 00:25:54.220 --> 00:25:55.639 But consider the son. 00:25:56.940 --> 00:25:59.440 Consider Jesus' Israel as they're brought into the land of Canaan. 00:28:07.799 --> 00:28:11.220 In Exodus 4, they're referred to as a son of God. 00:28:13.019 --> 00:28:14.920 They too were faithless. 00:28:15.819 --> 00:28:17.779 They failed to build the house. 00:28:17.779 --> 00:28:22.839 But brothers and sisters, holy brethren, consider Jesus. 00:28:24.359 --> 00:28:26.099 He is perfectly faithful. 00:28:27.599 --> 00:28:31.460 All that the Father gave him to do, he fulfills. 00:28:32.420 --> 00:28:34.660 He was faithful in the house of God. 00:28:34.819 --> 00:28:37.019 In fact, he could pray in John 17. 00:28:37.019 --> 00:28:43.240 I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do. 00:28:44.559 --> 00:28:48.440 He is the faithful son who would build the house of God. 00:28:49.579 --> 00:28:54.740 In fact, in 2 Samuel 7, David wanted to be that faithful son. 00:28:55.139 --> 00:28:58.639 David asked the Lord and says, I want to build you a house, a temple. 00:28:59.980 --> 00:29:01.519 What did the Lord tell David? 00:29:02.400 --> 00:29:04.180 It's not you who are going to build the house. 00:29:04.180 --> 00:29:07.080 I will build the house for you. 00:29:07.759 --> 00:29:09.460 I'm the one who's going to build it. 00:29:09.480 --> 00:29:10.539 And how will he do that? 00:29:11.380 --> 00:29:13.019 By sending his son. 00:29:13.700 --> 00:29:19.840 By Jesus Christ taking on our flesh to be the faithful son who would actually build the house of God. 00:29:19.940 --> 00:29:23.680 He would gather his people from the ends of the earth. 00:29:24.880 --> 00:29:28.620 And so we must see that Jesus is the faithful son. 00:29:28.619 --> 00:29:36.039 In other words, brethren, our salvation is founded not upon our own faithfulness, 00:29:57.419 the many were made unrighteous, condemned. 00:29:58.619 --> 00:30:01.439 But through the one man's righteousness, 00:30:02.019 --> 00:30:03.459 through his obedience, 00:30:04.879 --> 00:30:06.159 he could justify many. 00:30:07.399 --> 00:30:12.039 And so our salvation is founded not upon how faithful we are in the house. 00:30:12.659 --> 00:30:13.819 We all fail. 00:30:15.679 --> tabernacle 00:32:02.299 --> 00:32:04.879 actually expands in the Old Testament 00:32:04.879 --> 00:32:07.079 to include all of God's people. 00:32:07.919 --> 00:32:10.359 So not only was he going to build a temple for David, 00:32:10.559 --> 00:32:12.679 he was going to build a dynasty for David. 00:32:13.579 --> 00:32:15.740 And one of his sons was going to sit on his throne, 00:32:16.039 --> 00:32:17.579 and he was going to gather a people 00:32:17.579 --> 00:32:19.579 through the son of David. 00:32:20.839 --> 00:32:21.659 In other words, 00:32:21.819 --> 00:32:25.139 the language of a 00:34:00.220 And so what was promised of old 00:34:00.220 --> 00:34:01.740 is fulfilled in Christ 00:34:01.740 --> 00:34:04.259 as we are gathered from the ends of the earth 00:34:04.259 --> 00:34:06.519 as the house of God. 00:34:06.519 --> 00:34:09.840 That's why Peter can refer to the church 00:34:09.840 --> 00:34:11.579 as a holy nation 00:34:11.579 --> 00:34:13.460 or a true temple.
