the occasion. 00:06:27.620 --> 00:06:29.620 Now, I want you to picture something. 00:06:29.620 --> 00:06:36.620 I want you to picture yourselves in a car traveling at night on a very lonely road. 00:06:36.620 --> 00:06:38.620 It's not a very nice night. 00:06:38.620 --> 00:06:39.620 It's pouring rain. 00:06:39.620 --> 00:06:42.620 And then your car gets a puncture. 00:06:42.620 --> 00:06:52.620 And there are no other cars nearby for ages because it's a very little-used road out in the countryside, on the moorland, somewhere like that. 00:06:52.620 --> 00:07:02.620 And now you are, and you're punctured, and you're not really sure just how to go about changing the tire or fixing things up so you can travel again. 00:07:02.620 --> 00:07:10.620 And then all of a sudden, you see a car coming eventually, the lights of it coming in the distance, and then the car comes close to you, and it stops. 00:07:10.620 --> 00:07:17.620 And you realize to your amazement that sitting in the back of it is the king. 00:07:17.620 --> 00:07:20.620 And he gets out, and he says, can I help you? 00:07:20.620 --> 00:07:23.620 And you explain to him what's happened. 00:07:23.620 --> 00:07:27.620 And he says, well, do you have a jacket, or do you have an overall or something? 00:07:27.620 --> 00:07:29.620 Yes, I've got one in the boot. 00:07:29.620 --> 00:07:30.620 That's fine. 00:07:30.620 --> 00:07:31.620 He says, I'll get it. 00:07:31.620 --> 00:07:39.620 So he goes into the boot, and he puts on the overall, and he gets down, and he starts changing your tire, and it gets all dirty. 00:07:39.620 --> 00:07:44.620 And, of course, after changing the tire, he needs to wipe his hands. 00:07:44.620 --> 00:07:49.620 You would never believe that that was actually the king, but it is. 00:07:49.620 --> 00:07:55.620 And after he's finished changing the wheel, and everything's okay for you to go, he says, that's okay. 00:07:55.620 --> 00:07:56.620 You're on your way now. 00:07:56.620 --> 00:07:57.620 Where are you heading for? 00:07:57.620 --> 00:08:01.620 And you tell him where you're going, and he says, that's okay. 00:08:01.620 --> 00:08:04.620 Just to make sure you get home safely, I'll follow you. 00:08:04.620 --> 00:08:11.620 So off you go with the car, and the king's car follows you all the way until you get home. 00:08:11.620 --> 00:08:21.620 Not very likely, you might think, happening in the ordinary case of things in this world, that you would find the king coming along and then stopping and changing your tire. 00:08:21.620 --> 00:08:24.620 Could happen, but it's unlikely, really, isn't it? 00:08:24.620 --> 00:08:27.620 You'd probably have some servant to do it for you. 00:08:27.620 --> 00:08:38.620 But Jesus, the king of heaven, he actually came into this world on a journey, and he stopped when he came into the world, if you like to put it that way. 00:08:38.620 --> 00:08:43.620 He stopped, and he took note of us in our lostness. 00:08:43.620 --> 00:08:46.620 And he came to help us. 00:08:46.620 --> 00:08:48.620 He came to save us. 00:08:48.620 --> 00:08:54.620 He came to do something much more important than fix up a broken car. 00:08:54.620 --> 00:08:57.620 He came to fix up our broken lives. 00:08:57.620 --> 00:09:02.620 And he put on the garment of our humanness. 00:09:02.620 --> 00:09:10.620 He became human so that he would die the death he died on the cross, and then rise again from the dead. 00:09:10.620 --> 00:09:19.620 And just as in our picture of the king saying, I'll follow you till you get home safely, that's what this king does as well. 00:09:19.620 --> 00:09:33.620 When you come to believe in him and to trust in him, he gives you the assurance that your journey will not end until you've reached home in heaven, and he's going to be with you all the way. 00:09:33.620 --> 00:09:41.620 And you know the wonderful thing is, when you get to heaven, he's there, and you find out it's his palace. 00:09:41.620 --> 00:09:46.620 And you're going to be living with him in that palace forevermore. 00:09:46.620 --> 00:09:51.620 What a wonderful king Jesus is. 00:09:51.620 --> 00:10:08.620 To have done that, to have come into this world, to have put on our humanness, to have lived a perfect life, to have died the death he died on the cross for our sins, so that we might be saved. 00:10:08.620 --> 00:10:10.620 This is eternal life. 00:10:10.620 --> 00:10:11.620 This is eternal life. 00:10:11.620 --> 00:10:23.620 Jesus himself said in John chapter 17, that they might know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. 00:10:23.620 --> 00:10:25.620 So think about it today. 00:10:25.620 --> 00:10:40.620 There is no more wonderful story than the story that's true about King Jesus and what King Jesus has done so that we might live with him forever in his palace in heaven. 00:10:40.620 --> 00:10:43.620 Now we're going to say the Lord's Prayer together. 00:10:43.620 --> Sing praises to our King. Sing praises, for God is the King of all the earth. Sing praises with a psalm. 00:30:34.119 --> 00:30:49.579 I'm sure there were many sermons preached on kingship in some way or other over the past couple of weeks, following on from the coronation that took place in London. 00:30:49.579 --> 00:31:03.699 And this is a psalm that really speaks about a coronation or an enthronement. And it is a psalm that really pulsates with excitement, with joy, with anticipation. 00:31:03.700 --> 00:31:17.460 It's a psalm that sets out not just any king, but God as king. And as you know, God's kingship was represented in the kingship of the Old Testament kings. 00:31:17.460 --> 00:31:31.340 Not in the persons themselves as such, because there were some really bad ones, but in the kingship and the concept of kingship over Israel was a reflection of the kingship of God Himself over His people. 00:31:32.600 --> 00:31:46.420 And so as you come to this psalm, you can see how vibrant it is with praise to God, with an acknowledgement of His right to rule, an acknowledgement of the fact that He is the King, 00:31:46.420 --> 00:32:01.660 and it's a psalm that has a very far-reaching message. It's really, in a sense, a prophecy of the kingship of Christ, kingship of God, as it came to be revealed in Jesus Himself, 00:32:01.779 --> 00:32:12.180 and as it exists in Jesus, exalted to the kingship of the universe after having come into this world and died the death of the cross and risen from the dead. 00:32:12.180 --> 00:32:23.779 And so you have all of that packed into the psalm in terms of its fulfillment, as it came to be fulfilled in Christ, especially in the New Testament age onwards. 00:32:25.100 --> 00:32:33.920 So here's, first of all, a call to revere God the King. 00:37:47.079 How does He come to bring them to accept His kingship? 00:37:47.079 --> 00:37:47.559 Well, it says, 00:37:48.059 --> 00:37:53.259 Your people will offer themselves freely on the day of your power. 00:37:54.199 --> 00:37:58.599 They will come to offer themselves freely on the day of your power. 00:37:58.599 --> 00:38:02.900 When you came to accept Jesus Christ, a Christian, as a
