00:00:55.060 Considering this early church, these are our brethren. 00:00:55.060 --> 00:01:02.420 At the end of chapter 14, we saw Paul and Barnabas complete their first missionary journey, 00:01:02.520 --> 00:01:06.719 returning to Antioch, where they were commissioned in the first place. 00:01:07.600 --> 00:01:12.159 At the beginning of chapter 15, false teaching reaches Antioch. 00:01:12.240 --> 00:01:17.500 People travel to Antioch, preaching this, Acts chapter 15, verse 1, 00:01:17.500 --> 00:01:22.359 But some men came down from Judea and were teaching the brothers, 00:01:22.959 --> 00:01:29.340 Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved. 00:01:30.159 --> 00:01:35.719 So, Paul and Barnabas are sent to Jerusalem to seek clarity from the other apostles. 00:01:36.240 --> 00:01:39.859 These teachers, these false teachers have traveled from that region, 00:01:39.859 --> 00:01:47.680 So they go to make sure that they haven't erred in teaching that you must not be circumcised to be saved. 00:01:47.780 --> 00:01:49.939 So they're sent to Jerusalem to seek clarity. 00:01:50.920 --> 00:01:54.480 At what's often called of Cyprus, 00:03:48.120 --> 00:03:52.259 and Paul heads north with Silas. 00:03:53.340 --> 00:03:55.920 Now Silas was one of the leaders of the church in Jerusalem. 00:03:56.680 --> 00:03:59.200 He was both a Jew and a Roman citizen, 00:03:59.400 --> 00:04:00.360 so like Paul, 00:04:00.800 --> 00:04:02.520 he had the protection of the empire 00:04:02.520 --> 00:04:06.460 and could get entrance into the Jewish synagogues. 00:04:07.420 --> 00:04:11.840 Silas was a perfect partner for Paul's second missionary journey, 00:04:11.840 --> 00:04:13.960 but Paul, and I'm going to guess, 00:04:14.300 --> 00:04:16.500 say likely due to his division with Barnabas, 00:04:16.560 --> 00:04:19.720 now seems to have a mind toward multiplication. 00:04:20.340 --> 00:04:24.480 What happens when Silas and I
