00:07:35.219 You know, Peter had denied him three times 00:07:35.219 --> 00:07:38.159 and Jesus says to ask Peter, 00:07:38.599 --> 00:07:39.659 you know, do you love me? 00:07:40.360 --> 00:07:41.680 You know, feed my sheep. 00:07:42.279 --> 00:07:43.699 Okay, and then this is what he goes on to say. 00:07:43.819 --> 00:07:45.779 Jesus said, feed my sheep. 00:07:46.180 --> 00:07:47.500 Very truly, I tell you, 00:07:47.839 --> 00:07:48.699 when you were younger, 00:07:48.899 --> 00:07:51.199 you dressed yourself and went where you wanted. 00:07:51.620 --> 00:07:53.159 But when you are old, 00:07:53.160 --> 00:07:55.520 you will stretch out your hands 00:07:55.520 --> 00:07:57.060 and someone else will dress you 00:07:57.060 --> 00:07:59.300 and lead you where you do not want to go. 00:08:00.260 --> 00:08:02.720 Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death 00:08:02.720 --> 00:08:04.640 by which Peter would glorify God. 00:08:05.280 --> 00:08:07.420 Then he said to him, follow me. 00:08:08.540 --> 00:08:10.760 And Peter lived by Jesus's words. 00:08:11.180 --> 00:08:13.840 He trusted Jesus with his life and his death. 00:08:15.460 --> 00:08:17.360 And as his circumstances changed, 00:08:18.200 --> 00:08:22.220 he was aware his time has now come. 00:08:22.220 --> 00:08:24.220 And he wants to remind the church 00:08:24.220 --> 00:08:25.980 to keep following the truth. 00:08:53.360 For we did not follow cleverly devised stories 00:08:53.360 --> 00:08:55.519 when we told you about the coming 00:08:55.519 --> 00:08:57.879 of our Lord Jesus Christ in power. 00:08:58.620 --> 00:09:02.279 But we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. 00:09:02.819 --> 00:09:06.019 So the accusation is that Peter and the other apostles 00:09:06.019 --> 00:09:08.419 have just made all this stuff up 00:09:08.419 --> 00:09:11.139 about Jesus coming back again. 00:09:11.139 --> 00:09:14.059 It's just a cleverly devised story. 00:09:14.519 --> 00:09:17.639 But Peter is clear that it's not the case. 00:09:18.059 --> 00:09:19.399 And he lets his readers know 00:09:19.399 --> 00:09:22.139 that he and others were eyewitnesses 00:09:22.860 --> 00:09:24.259 to Jesus's majesty. 00:09:25.299 --> 00:09:27.220 And they even heard a voice from heaven 00:09:27.220 --> 00:09:29.220 confirming who Jesus was. 00:09:30.059 --> 00:09:32.139 He is, of course, referring to the transfiguration, 00:09:32.139 --> 00:09:37.879 which is recorded for us in Matthew, Mark, and Luke. 00:09:39.500 --> 00:09:44.279 So let's now remind ourselves of the transfiguration. 00:09:44.539 --> reference the transfiguration? 00:11:53.460 --> 00:11:56.400 I think it's because this is the one time 00:11:56.400 --> 00:12:00.800 that Peter saw Jesus as he truly is. 00:12:00.799 --> 00:12:04.579 Jesus wasn't just a man. 00:12:06.539 --> 00:12:09.240 Jesus was also God. 00:12:10.399 --> 00:12:14.459 And Peter saw Jesus in his majestic glory, 00:12:15.079 --> 00:12:18.359 as we all will one day, 00:12:19.379 --> 00:12:20.979 whether we're trusting in him or not. 00:12:22.019 --> 00:12:23.459 For those of us who are saved 00:12:23.459 --> 00:12:24.939 through Jesus' death and Jesus was on the right path, 00:13:41.600 --> 00:13:43.519 and they could trust him 00:13:43.519 --> 00:13:44.980 and follow him. 00:13:47.440 --> 00:13:47.960 But, 00:13:48.240 --> 00:13:51.040 why 00:14:06.420 And the same goes 00:14:06.420 --> 00:14:07.879 for most of the miracles 00:14:07.879 --> 00:14:09.460 and the miraculous events 00:14:09.460 --> 00:14:10.139 in the Bible. 00:14:10.139 --> 00:14:12.299 Many different people 00:14:12.299 --> 00:14:14.240 claim to have seen Jesus alive 00:14:14.240 --> 00:14:15.220 after his death. 00:14:16.539 --> 00:14:17.699 It wasn't just Peter. been alive. 00:14:25.879 --> 00:14:27.659 This stands in stark contrast 00:14:27.659 --> 00:14:28.799 to other religions, 00:14:29.419 --> 00:14:31.199 where there will only be 00:14:31.199 --> 00:14:32.100 one witness 00:14:32.100 --> 00:14:34.360 to the supposed miracle 00:14:34.360 --> 00:14:36.500 or message from God. 00:14:37.399 --> 00:14:38.559 Take Islam, for example. 00:14:38.559 --> 00:14:41.119 Muhammad was the only one 00:14:41.119 --> 00:14:42.559 to witness the angel Gabriel 00:14:42.559 --> 00:14:43.699 speaking to him 00:14:43.699 --> 00:14:45.059 and telling him 00:14:45.059 --> 00:14:46.779 what to write in the Quran. 00:14:47.839 --> 00:14:48.819 Or Mormonism. 00:14:49.500 --> 00:14:50.199 Joseph Smith, 00:14:50.779 --> 00:14:52.059 he was the only one 00:14:52.059 --> 00:14:55.019 who was able to translate 00:14:55.019 --> 00:14:56.759 the golden plates 00:14:56.759 --> 00:14:57.979 which the Book of Mormon 00:14:57.979 --> 00:14:59.219 supposedly came from. 00:15:01.059 --> 00:15:02.939 Christianity stands apart 00:15:02.940 --> 00:15:04.860 in that it has 00:15:04.860 --> 00:15:06.580 multiple witnesses 00:15:06.580 --> 00:15:08.140 to its
