--> 00:07:54.140 And Jesus talked about the kingdom of God and the kingdom of God coming more than any other thing in the Bible. 00:07:54.700 --> 00:07:56.100 He's always talked about the kingdom of God. 00:07:56.580 --> 00:07:57.340 The kingdom of God is coming. 00:07:57.420 --> 00:07:59.800 Up until this point in Luke, we've been going through it for a year and a half, 00:08:00.080 --> 00:08:02.040 he's talked about the kingdom of God 27 times. 00:08:03.160 --> 00:08:04.320 Okay, and we're only in chapter 17. 00:08:05.500 --> 00:08:06.740 So he just talks about it over and over. 00:08:06.740 --> 00:08:11.760 And so the Pharisees ask the question, which is a fair question, being that that's what Jesus is about. 00:08:13.020 --> 00:08:14.520 When will this come? 00:08:15.500 they're in there, and they don't understand that when Christ came, he started this redemption period. 00:08:24.360 --> 00:08:29.040 They're still looking back, and they're looking towards the future word is a very specific word. 00:09:31.440 --> 00:09:32.320 It means it's among you. 00:09:32.779 --> 00:09:34.019 It's around you. 00:09:34.080 --> 00:09:34.879 It's in your presence. 00:09:35.200 like you saying, hey, there's a million dollars on that ground right in front of you. 00:09:47.479 --> 00:09:50.079 You wouldn't just look at that and go, well, that's cool, and walk away. allow God's spirit to come in you and heal you and change you and fix you and redeem you? 00:10:22.240 --> 00:10:31.580 And as you do that, are you going to allow yourself to be used by God to go out and redeem and fix and heal and choose and help others around you? 00:10:33.200 --> 00:10:38.140 So the Pharisees wanted power and they wanted God to come back and destroy the Romans. 00:10:38.300 --> 00:10:41.200 They wanted to be elevated and they wanted the end times. 00:10:41.320 --> 00:10:43.380 They wanted the restoration time. 00:10:43.379 --> 00:10:45.759 But Jesus says, no, we're in this --> 00:11:05.460 And if we're honest, most of us want the fun, the compassionate, the loving, the gentle, the gracious, the kind, the suffering servant, the guy who washes people's feet. 00:11:06.100 he's going to ask us how he used our stuff he gave us. 00:11:27.460 --> 00:11:35.080 To think that there's going to be a king who's going to come and it's his kingdom that we're living for and it's not my kingdom that I'm living for. 00:11:36.879 --> 00:11:42.139 And so in one way, we both miss the meaning of the passage. 00:11:43.480 --> 00:11:47.900 The Pharisees missed it because Jesus was there and he was doing these things and he was healing these things and it was taken forth. 00:11:47.899 --> 00:11:52.959 And we miss it sometimes because we don't ever think about him coming again.
