You know, Harry Potter's nearly headless Nick. 00:08:10.479 --> 00:08:11.899 You know, some sort of apparition. 00:08:12.039 --> 00:08:16.559 Some sort of spirit making a momentary visit from some distant realm. 00:08:17.199 --> 00:08:20.039 And Jesus responds to them and he says this in verse 38. 00:08:20.199 --> 00:08:20.979 Why are you troubled? 00:08:22.000 --> 00:08:25.539 And why do doubts rise in your minds? 00:08:25.540 --> 00:08:30.280 And that word for doubts Jesus uses is dialogitsme, where we get the word dialogue. 00:08:31.300 --> 00:08:39.340 And Jesus is not against thinking, questioning, deliberating, reasoning, the life of the mind, 00:08:39.680 --> 00:08:44.340 working out puzzles and riddles and enigmas with logic. 00:08:44.920 --> 00:08:49.180 If you know anything about Judaism, anything about the teachings of Jesus, 00:08:49.860 --> 00:08:52.580 there's a link here between the head and the heart. 00:08:52.580 --> 00:08:57.740 But what is Jesus challenging among his first skeptics? 00:08:58.520 --> 00:09:04.860 He sees them disputing an inconvenient truth that doesn't fit with their dominant paradigm. 00:09:05.900 --> 00:09:06.020 Right? here they are interpreting the data of Jesus standing before them within their worldview categories, 00:09:22.019 --> 00:09:24.879 within the plausibility structures that they know. 00:09:25.279 --> 00:09:30.919 This is either an immaterial spirit or it's a revived corpse, 00:09:30.979 --> 00:09:36.179 like Lazarus, who temporarily came back to life but then would die again. 00:09:36.179 --> 00:09:43.959 And Jesus is patiently here helping them come to realize that he's neither this nor that. 00:09:44.059 --> 00:09:48.019 He's something new, something different, something unique and he's incredibly patient with them, 00:13:15.559 --> 00:13:17.659 and he works with their unbelief, right? 00:13:17.679 --> 00:13:19.039 He gives them evidence. 00:13:19.139 --> 00:13:19.899 He gives them data. 00:13:20.419 --> 00:13:24.959 He gives them time and opportunity to explore the evidence and consider the data. 00:13:25.459 --> 00:13:26.299 But eventually, 00:13:26.479 -->
