It's difficult to hear. 00:01:06.439 --> 00:01:11.819 It's hard intellectually because it appears, at least on first reading, 00:01:11.900 --> 00:01:13.799 that somehow we can control God. 00:01:13.900 --> 00:01:18.180 We can have supernatural powers if simply we have enough faith. 00:01:18.180 --> 00:01:23.160 And it's hard spiritually because as we come to this passage, 00:01:23.280 --> 00:01:28.900 it has the potential to bring us maybe guilt or shame or cynicism 00:01:28.900 --> 00:01:33.060 as we look at things that we've cried out to God for, we've prayed earnestly for, 00:01:33.160 --> 00:01:35.600 and God has chosen not to grant that. 00:01:35.680 --> 00:01:41.940 We wonder if something was wrong with us if we didn't just have enough faith, 00:01:41.940 --> 00:01:46.920 and so maybe we found ourselves in a place of resignation or cynicism. 00:01:46.920 --> 00:01:52.379 So as we come to Jesus' teaching here, I say sometimes, as I do now, 00:01:52.400 --> 00:01:54.439 I'm going to say something, not everything, 00:01:54.599 --> 00:01:59.400 as we try to unravel the knots of this passage to both satisfy our minds, 00:01:59.480 --> 00:02:04.599 to understand it, and also to address our hearts as we face the challenges 00:02:04.599 --> 00:02:07.460 of just living as Christians, crying out to God, 00:02:08.020 --> 00:02:11.460 and feeling like at to Mark chapter 11. 00:02:20.360 --> 00:02:23.620 We're going to start at verse 20, and remember that this is God's Word. 00:02:23.780 --> 00:02:28.060 God tells us that His Word is a lamp to our feet, and it's a light to our path, 00:02:28.099 --> 00:02:31.520 which means that God has not left us to stumble alone in the dark, 00:02:31.659 --> 00:02:35.240 but instead He's given us His Word to
