Over the last five years, there has been new construction in Turkey to build luxurious apartments. 00:00:18.420 --> 00:00:24.000 These buildings were to be built according to certain building codes that ensure the safety of the building and the residents. 00:00:24.000 --> 00:00:31.500 According to building codes, the buildings must be built in a safe manner that would prevent damage from any major earthquake. 00:00:32.579 --> 00:00:41.820 This could require various elements from simple foundation dampering or strengthening to motion dampering to build the entire structure on a shock absorber. 00:00:42.879 --> 00:00:51.299 To include the proper structural additions to buildings, it costs lots of money and could be quite expensive. 00:00:51.299 --> 00:01:01.879 In February of 2023, there was two major earthquakes and lots of buildings were turned into rubble and thousands were killed. 00:01:03.379 --> 00:01:10.060 Many of these buildings were supposed to be according to the code that would prevent them from falling during earthquake shaking. 00:01:11.959 --> 00:01:13.859 Unfortunately, that did not happen. 00:01:14.340 --> 00:01:19.099 And we don't have much information regarding the government, the building codes, or the developers. 00:01:19.099 --> 00:01:24.419 But there is evidence that hundreds of buildings were not built on safe foundations. 00:01:25.839 --> 00:01:30.459 When the earthquakes came, it caused widespread destruction. 00:01:31.239 --> 00:01:36.659 The earthquakes and the damage caused in Turkey is tragic. 00:01:38.019 --> 00:01:44.579 When earthquakes hit Turkey, the buildings demonstrated that they were not built safely to endure the quakes. 00:01:44.579 --> 00:01:48.319 What we build our lives upon is of great importance. 00:01:49.539 --> 00:01:58.000 If we build our lives upon the wrong things, it can have devastating effects for ourselves, for our families, and for our friends. 00:01:58.379 --> 00:02:06.739 But if we build our Abraham, Abraham. 00:07:02.879 --> 00:07:06.659 In Luke 10, when Jesus is visiting Mary and Martha, 00:07:07.279 --> 00:07:09.379 Martha is busying herself with tasks. 00:07:09.720 --> 00:07:12.879 And she's jealous of Mary who's sitting by Jesus. 00:07:12.879 --> 00:07:17.399 And Jesus goes to Martha, Martha, Martha. 00:07:18.540 --> 00:07:23.500 In Acts 9, when Jesus speaks to Saul as he's heading to Damascus, 00:07:23.800 --> 00:07:28.439 he says, Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me? 00:07:29.579 --> 00:07:32.699 In all these instances and many more you see in scripture, 00:07:33.100 --> 00:07:36.980 there is a personal relationship that is intimate and intentional. 00:07:37.740 --> 00:07:39.839 Someone is speaking as if they know a friend. 00:07:39.839 --> 00:07:44.419 When this person comes to Jesus and says, Lord, Lord, 00:07:44.579 --> 00:07:48.399 they generally believe that Jesus is their master. 00:07:49.239 --> 00:07:51.679 They have confidence in their position as his servant. 00:07:52.419 --> 00:07:57.459 But Jesus' response is not what you'd expect from someone who calls him Lord, Lord. 00:07:57.679 --> 00:08:03.579 He says, why do you call me Lord, Lord, and you do not do what I tell you? 00:08:04.739 --> 00:08:08.819 The servant invokes Jesus' name as Lord and personally, 00:08:08.819 --> 00:08:14.779 but in his life, there is seems to have done great things for Jesus. 00:09:20.820 --> 00:09:22.100 They have prophesied. 00:09:22.519 --> 00:09:24.120 They have cast out demons. 00:09:24.480 --> 00:09:26.600 And they've even done mighty works. 00:09:26.600 --> 00:09:30.159 But when they come to Jesus and Jesus asks, 00:09:30.480 --> 00:09:32.100 why should I grant you into the kingdom? 00:09:33.139 --> 00:09:35.139 They They're basing their hope and their salvation on their works, 00:09:45.960 --> 00:09:48.580 on the things that they believe would merit them salvation. 00:09:49.620 --> 00:09:52.120 And we see Jesus'
