Can we turn the scriptures to the parable of the 00:07:24.959 --> 00:07:32.180 Samaritan? This is very familiar to us. So if I can take just five minutes and point out some things 00:07:32.180 --> 00:07:42.560 that leads, you know, into this sharing this morning. Luke chapter 10, I want to read from verse 26 00:07:42.560 --> 00:07:55.819 and I'll stop at a particular point. I hope we're there. And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tempted 00:08:08.540 --> 00:08:17.460 him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? And you see consistency, you see how all of them flow together. And every time we go for a 00:10:58.960 --> 00:11:05.639 Bible group study in Dr. Dunlop's place, I mean, we go through all this, we are so happy with the 00:11:05.639 --> 00:11:12.639 sermons, and we just enjoy it further than what we have had on Sunday. And I just want to say that we are 00:11:12.639 --> 00:11:18.500 blessed in this church. And one thing I want to say in that regard is, to whom much is given, much is also expected. 00:11:18.500 --> 00:11:27.080 So coming back to the scripture where we read, that is the entire relationship between us as believers and 00:11:27.080 --> 00:11:34.220 those who are not Christian. You can't, you either take it or you leave it. If you want to talk about the 00:11:34.220 --> 00:11:40.000 story of Jesus Christ, you will see Jesus Christ there. If you want to talk about the story of the cross, you 00:11:40.000 --> 00:11:48.419 will see the cross there. If you want to talk about what do you need to do to inherit eternal life, you 00:11:48.419 --> 00:11:54.459 will also find it there. So whatever you want to study about Christ is right there in this short 00:11:54.459 --> 00:12:01.779 story or this parable. The first one is the fact that they wanted to tempt the Lord Jesus Christ. It 00:12:01.779 --> 00:12:08.299 wasn't the first person. Nicodemus also had that experience coming, trying to seek about eternal life. 00:12:08.959 --> 00:12:16.339 I do not know what profit anyone that you gain the whole world and lose your life. So when you look at 00:12:16.340 --> 00:12:22.160 Jesus Christ coming from, I mean, even particularly Isaiah chapter six, you know, Isaiah saw him, 00:12:22.280 --> 00:12:27.759 his strength filled the temple, the angels cry, holy, holy, holy unto him. And that God became man 00:12:27.759 --> 00:12:37.100 through the manger. He, he, he went through to the cross. This is the whole story that no sinner will 00:12:37.100 --> 00:12:45.139 have been able to sin himself, but Christ came to die in our stead. So after that, there are five 00:12:45.139 --> 00:12:51.199 principal parts that I believe every believer should understand about his faith in Christ. Number one 00:12:51.199 --> 00:12:58.580 is who is Christ? If you don't know him, Paul said that I may know him. If you don't know him, I tell you 00:12:58.580 --> 00:13:05.439 the truth, you can relate to him. What about his teaching? Chapter five, six, seven of Matthew, he's talking 00:13:05.439 --> 00:13:12.240 about the beatitude of whosoever will be his follower. So he deals with our character, humility, money, 00:13:12.240 --> 00:13:19.740 meekness, righteousness, and so on. By that we become light and salt. Then this is how you should 00:13:19.740 --> 00:13:27.580 conduct yourself in prayers, in fasting, in giving, and all that all true. He, he, he sat his disciples 00:13:27.580 --> 00:13:34.620 and took them through what it should be. That is Christ. But one major thing in that teaching, 00:13:34.779 --> 00:13:39.560 which I love most, and there's no religion of the world can ever teach that, can ever teach that 00:13:39.559 --> 00:13:47.979 is the love for the enemy. Chapter five of Matthew from verse 43 to 46. There he's emphasizing your 00:13:47.979 --> 00:13:56.199 love for your enemy. Enemies are those who perpetually hate you and they delight in your 00:13:56.199 --> 00:14:01.659 downfall. They rejoice in whatever thing that goes against you. That's your enemy. Not just someone who 00:14:01.659 --> 00:14:07.779 just offended you and so on like that. And so Christ said, love them, pray for them, do good to them, 00:14:07.779 --> 00:14:12.879 and so on. Tell me any religion of the world that can emphasize such love. 00:14:15.299 --> 00:14:23.459 Now, that is interplaying with what we are sharing. We were all born wicked, but Christ came. 00:14:26.000 --> 00:14:30.919 So you know who is Christ? You know the teaching of Christ? The third thing that you have to know 00:14:30.919 --> 00:14:38.019 is about the power of Christ. This was demonstrated over everything virtually. He still the storm, 00:14:39.919 --> 00:14:47.099 the lame walk, the blind see. I just imagine Pastor Greg bringing all the doctors of the world together 00:14:47.099 --> 00:14:53.479 and said, give me a natural eye. No one can do it. Nobody. And Christ said, take your eyes back. 00:14:53.480 --> 00:15:01.039 So the power of Christ. And he said, look, I'm the way, I'm the truth, I'm the life. I have power to lay 00:15:01.039 --> 00:15:09.019 my life. I have power to take it. He raised so many dead. So these are things that you should know 00:15:09.019 --> 00:15:18.120 about Christ. Number four, he demands, even in this story, he demands that you should love him. 00:15:18.120 --> 00:15:24.179 You love God, that's the cross, and you love one another. You love people who are not lovable. 00:15:24.919 --> 00:15:30.120 That's exactly what he came to do. So every other love is tied down to something, whether 00:15:30.120 --> 00:15:34.919 phileos, whether eros, whether stud, whether ergonomia, all those things in the New Testament, 00:15:35.700 --> 00:15:41.539 you can't compare them to agape, the type of Christ love. He loved us not because we're lovable. 00:15:42.159 --> 00:15:44.159 And that's the kind of love he wants us to have. 00:15:44.159 --> 00:15:51.120 So he demands. All that he did for us, the sacrifice demands for something. And then 00:15:51.120 --> 00:15:56.480 number five, if sufficiently we understand him in these four premises, then you must go 00:15:56.480 --> 00:16:03.679 out. And that is the fifth one. You must go out. So unfortunately, the priest saw the man 00:16:03.679 --> 00:16:11.159 who was wounded, he passed away. He just, you know, closed his eyes or turned his eyes elsewhere. 00:16:11.159 --> 00:16:18.419 This is a man in holy of holy. And then the Levites, who is in the holy place, receiving 00:16:18.419 --> 00:16:26.360 all sacrifices, preparing it for the priest, also saw him. He left. A Samaritan that you 00:16:26.360 --> 00:16:30.899 would say had no religion. And you know the relationship between Samaritan and the Jews. 00:16:30.899 --> 00:16:36.899 If you read about the Nenonite woman in Luke chapter 13, you also see how the disciple was 00:16:36.899 --> 00:16:43.059 saying, well, since Christ was silent, do we send the woman away? Disciple who's supposed 00:16:43.059 --> 00:16:48.959 to help and say, please save this woman. She had come to intercede for her daughter. Please 00:16:48.959 --> 00:16:54.899 save. Then the disciple said, it was coming from the background between the Samaritan and 00:16:54.899 --> 00:17:00.100 so on. And of course, you know about the woman by the well and all the rest. So that's a 00:17:00.100 --> 00:17:07.579 Samaritan who everyone thought he had no religion. He had his bondage from home. He was prepared. 00:17:07.940 --> 00:17:14.019 He has his oil. He has his coin and he carried the wounded man half dead. He put him where he 00:17:14.019 --> 00:17:18.819 ought to be seated and he took him in and he said, you know what? You take care of him. 00:17:18.819 --> 00:17:26.980 I'm coming back again. I won't be surprised if the application will be Christ Jesus who is 00:17:26.980 --> 00:17:37.000 coming back again and take us home. So with this background, I want us to look at this. I want 00:17:37.000 --> 00:17:52.839 to share today. Okay. I'm going to run through it. The church today or the body of believer and 00:17:52.839 --> 00:17:59.519 cross-cultural ambition. I'm using Nigeria as a case study. This slide is up to 57 that I personally 00:17:59.519 --> 00:18:06.059 prepared, but then we just look at only 10. And so I'm going to run through based on this background. 00:18:07.000 --> 00:18:12.579 This is the global world today, whether we like it or not. I didn't prepare this. Yeah, I mean it. You are 00:18:49.400 --> 00:18:57.040 still the one that sent most mission agencies across the sea, across cultures. Yes. But if you 00:18:57.040 --> 00:19:03.560 know where you began and where you are today, then you know what I'm saying. I got to the green. 00:19:03.559 --> 00:19:10.159 I wept. When they took us there for orientation and I saw those three churches, I wept. I couldn't 00:19:10.159 --> 00:19:16.480 hold it. So this, it could be a symbol to something that is happening to America, spiritually. 00:19:16.480 --> 00:19:29.240 So, the next thing I want us to understand is the map of Africa. So, where you have Egypt, 00:19:29.240 --> 00:19:36.980 Ethiopia and so on, this was a cradle of Christian civilization. You talk about Ethiopia, you know 00:19:36.980 --> 00:19:45.480 the union, Ethiopia, you know, and so like that. You talk about Carthage or Cyrene, Algeria, where, 00:19:45.480 --> 00:19:51.480 someone who helped the Lord to carry the cross. You know how close Africa, you know, was, you 00:19:51.480 --> 00:19:57.039 know, to Jerusalem and the battle of our Lord Jesus Christ. You know all this. We don't have time for that. 00:19:57.039 --> 00:20:01.039 But today, these are highly Islamic. 00:20:03.079 --> 00:20:10.160 Highly Islamic. This is the black stone. They go around it and so on like that. 00:20:10.160 --> 00:20:18.040 Sir, I'm leaving you with a well-prepared video on Isaiah 14.
