00:03:52.919 --> 00:04:00.079 And in it, they worshipped a god named Baal, their neighboring nations did. 00:04:00.439 --> 00:04:09.699 But King ousted these Canaanites from Jerusalem, established the kingdom of Israel, and established the capital of his nation in Jerusalem. 00:04:09.699 --> 00:04:19.620 And according to their myth of the origin of the universe, there was a god of chaos, and the god's name was Sea. 00:04:20.120 --> 00:04:22.120 Another name of the god was River. 00:04:22.939 --> 00:04:24.360 So Sea and River. 00:04:24.360 --> 00:04:31.379 And it's Baal, according to their mythology, their king, who came and said, you know what? 00:04:31.699 --> 00:04:32.680 You don't need to worry. 00:04:32.879 --> 00:04:38.600 All the other gods were kind of cowering and afraid of this god of chaos and unable to do anything. 00:04:38.740 --> 00:04:41.480 But Baal, their chief god, comes and says, don't fear. 00:04:42.379 --> 00:04:43.319 Lift up your heads. 00:04:43.420 --> 00:04:45.259 In fact, that's later quoted as well. 00:04:45.840 --> 00:04:47.560 And he says, and trust in me. 00:04:47.560 --> 00:04:53.639 And then he defeats this sea and establishes, basically, the Canaanite kingdom. 00:04:54.620 --> 00:05:02.780 And so David is here referring, alluding to that in a polemical way to intentionally challenge that view. 00:05:03.360 --> 00:05:05.899 And so here, he doesn't name it, right?
