00:03:26.439 --> 00:03:31.420 for the existence and the truth of the Christian God from music. 00:03:32.400 --> 00:03:35.659 That's not something I had thought of before a couple of years ago, 00:03:35.740 --> 00:03:39.420 but I've now read a couple of articles or parts of books 00:03:39.420 --> 00:03:41.800 which make, I think, a quite convincing claim 00:03:41.800 --> 00:03:45.760 that only in Christianity is there an explanation of music. 00:03:45.759 --> 00:03:48.299 Now, here's the question, here's the issue. 00:03:49.299 --> 00:03:54.239 There used to be a fellow who'd come to the 8 o'clock service, 00:03:55.000 --> 00:03:57.299 and the reason he came to the 8 o'clock service 00:03:57.299 --> 00:03:59.799 was because there was no music at the 8 o'clock service. 00:04:00.259 --> 00:04:01.359 He really liked music. 00:04:01.560 --> 00:04:03.139 He just hated music in church. 00:04:03.519 --> 00:04:07.180 He thought all church music was just terrible 00:04:07.180 --> 00:04:08.840 and was only a distraction. 00:04:09.060 --> 00:04:10.280 And he came to realize one day 00:04:10.280 --> 00:04:12.699 that it's not a spiritual gift to be grumpy, 00:04:12.699 --> 00:04:15.780 so it would be just better if he only came to the 8 o'clock service 00:04:15.780 --> 00:04:17.019 and never had to hear any music. 00:04:17.459 --> 00:04:21.139 But most of us have had like you've left your body, 00:04:37.379 --> 00:04:40.839 that there's something about it just so, 00:04:41.600 --> 00:04:47.019 like you're touching something bigger than this physical reality, 00:04:47.480 --> 00:04:49.240 something bigger than this world, 00:04:49.879 --> 00:04:53.420 that there's some meaning here that you're entering into, 00:04:53.579 --> 00:04:56.379 there's something just sublime and beautiful and transcendent, 00:04:56.439 --> 00:04:59.719 and most of us have had some experiences like that with music. 00:04:59.779 --> 00:05:01.079 Not every piece of music we hear, 00:05:01.159 --> 00:05:03.279 but with some pieces of music that we hear. 00:05:03.279 --> 00:05:07.239 It's just that there's something powerful, beautiful, transcendent, 00:05:07.699 --> 00:05:10.139 uplifting, almost as if we've left our body. 00:05:10.839 --> 00:05:13.819 Now the question is, how do we explain this experience? 00:05:14.339 --> 00:05:16.519 Like, how does this
