and over. 00:03:36.800 --> 00:03:38.980 He's asking for God to intervene in that. 00:03:39.240 --> 00:03:43.400 In the circumstance that he's found himself in, he's saying, God, please deliver me. out of place until you step back and you realize that it comes in the midst of David's prayer of praise. 00:04:59.160 --> 00:05:00.939 There's three stanzas to the psalm. 00:05:01.300 --> 00:05:06.360 The middle one, beginning at verse 8, is really a moment of private worship with David. 00:05:06.480 --> 00:05:10.000 It's a prayer of praise, and it's flanked on either side by this lament. you say, I just have this struggle. 00:07:13.939 --> 00:07:15.459 Like I see these words that David pray. 00:07:15.519 --> 00:07:21.699 I don't think I've ever had a thought quite as emotionally attached and longing for God quite like this. 00:07:21.819 --> 00:07:23.000 Or at least it's been a while. 00:07:23.240 --> 00:07:32.240 And we would say, well, as we look at David's prayer here, it must be that at the heart of what you're doing in your Christian life is not authentic worship. 00:07:32.240 --> 00:07:34.220 It may be religious forms. 00:07:34.319 --> 00:07:37.600 There may be It's significant in the Bible. 00:11:21.679 --> 00:11:27.500 It's used over and over in the Bible as an analogy referring to one's manner of life. 00:11:28.839 --> 00:11:32.779 So it points to something that motivates our attitudes and our actions. 00:11:33.159 --> 00:11:34.479 That's really what the word means. 00:11:34.659 --> 00:11:36.620 Let me give you a few examples of this in the scripture. 00:11:37.319 --> 00:11:39.299 How about Psalm 1-1? 00:11:39.299 --> 00:11:45.339 Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, 00:11:45.459 --> 00:11:48.000 but his desire is in the law of the Lord. 00:11:48.500 --> 00:11:50.159 What's the psalmist getting at there? 00:11:50.879 --> 00:11:54.819 That if you live your life being motivated by, 00:11:54.959 --> 00:11:57.399 your attitudes and actions being motivated by, 00:11:57.579 --> 00:11:59.000 the counsel of the world, 00:11:59.259 --> 00:12:00.799 you will not be the blessed man. 00:12:00.919 --> 00:12:03.539 But if you live your life in such a way 00:12:03.539 --> 00:12:06.919 that it is motivated by the law of God, 00:12:07.120 --> 00:12:08.419 you will be the blessed man. 00:12:08.860 -->
