simulator to teach about the impact of earthquakes. 00:18:36.319 --> 00:18:40.059 Especially in that case, the focus was on the many earthquakes that hit Japan. 00:18:41.059 --> 00:18:48.759 And how then engineers are building, designed to cope with those constant storms that come. 00:18:48.759 --> 00:18:56.579 That stress testing, both of the foundation and the structure, was vital to their building projects. 00:18:57.700 --> 00:19:01.619 Well, this parable that we're reading today is about building. 00:19:01.940 --> 00:19:04.440 And it's about storms and it's about foundation. out, called them to meet Him on Mount Sinai, 00:21:39.399 --> 00:21:41.559 entered into covenant and gave them His commands. 00:21:43.079 --> 00:21:44.519 Now what have we got in the Sermon on the Mount? 00:21:44.899 --> 00:21:51.359 Here we have Jesus the Lord, and He calls His disciples up the mountain to meet with Him. 00:21:51.359 --> 00:21:54.379 And He speaks to them of grace. 00:24:54.100 But this sermon is also a blueprint for life in the Father's family. 00:24:55.220 --> 00:24:59.460 There's a couple of New Testament scholars, Jonathan Pennington and Ulrich Luzz, 00:24:59.539 --> 00:25:01.460 who've done some work on this recently, 00:25:01.460 --> 00:25:07.340 and they recognize that at the center of the Sermon on the Mount stands the Lord's Prayer. 00:25:09.079 --> 00:25:15.420 And in a very real sense, the key to living the Sermon on the Mount is the Lord's Prayer. 00:25:15.420 --> 00:25:21.700 So the good news of Christianity is that God is creator, 00:25:22.220 --> 00:25:25.120 and we were made in God's image to know God. 00:25:26.120 --> 00:25:28.039 The relationship with God is possible, 00:25:28.160 --> 00:25:31.840 but because of us, 00:26:40.460 --> 00:26:40.740 once again, 00:26:40.799 --> 00:26:42.660 to build wisely, 00:26:43.660 --> 00:26:45.180 to both listen and do, 00:26:45.559 --> 00:26:46.400 the word of God. one is described as a fool. 00:27:28.159 --> 00:27:32.599 Just to help us get a sense of the kind of project 00:27:32.599 --> 00:27:34.759 that Jesus invited his hearers to imagine, 00:27:35.159 --> rough masonry on the outside, 00:27:44.779 --> 00:27:48.539 and the foundations were cut into the bedrock. 00:27:48.539 --> 00:27:50.819 That's important. 00:27:51.139 --> 00:27:53.779 Also, when we
