in power. 00:07:39.979 --> 00:07:40.959 Perfect in love. 00:07:41.319 --> 00:07:42.799 Perfect in purity. 00:07:44.359 --> 00:07:47.539 God is holy, holy, holy. 00:07:48.159 --> 00:07:48.379 Right? 00:07:48.379 --> 00:07:56.879 In fact, being holy is so associated with God in the Bible that whatever is associated 00:07:56.879 --> 00:08:01.199 with God, whatever gets close to him, becomes holy. 00:08:01.639 --> 00:08:02.719 That's how it happens. 00:08:03.259 --> 00:08:05.899 This is actually what got me thinking about this topic. 00:08:06.040 --> 00:08:07.639 We were reading toward the end of last year. 00:08:07.719 --> 00:08:10.240 If you were doing the Bible reading plan with us last year. 00:08:10.459 --> 00:08:13.699 And one of the last books we got to toward the end of the year was Leviticus. 00:08:13.699 --> 00:08:20.979 I kept noticing things in Leviticus that were holy to the Lord over and over. 00:08:21.060 --> 00:08:21.800 Lots of things. 00:08:21.959 --> 00:08:25.659 And see, what happens in Exodus, it's right before Leviticus. 00:08:25.779 --> 00:08:30.879 And at the end of Exodus, God's people finish building the tabernacle. 00:08:31.019 --> 00:08:35.700 It's the initial temple, the house for God to live in among them. 00:08:35.700 --> 00:08:43.720 And the book ends with Yahweh's presence coming down and filling the tabernacle, which is what 00:08:43.720 --> 00:08:47.060 makes it a holy place. 00:08:47.800 --> 00:08:53.000 It's just a nice-looking tent before God shows up to live there, right? 00:08:53.560 --> 00:09:00.480 And so in Leviticus, I noticed all sorts of things being referred to as holy, being set 00:09:00.480 --> 00:09:02.800 apart for God. 00:09:02.799 --> 00:09:12.620 The crazy things, a table, an altar, various utensils, a basin, a stand, every tenth animal, 00:09:13.419 --> 00:09:13.819 holy. 00:09:15.259 --> 00:09:21.079 And it's not that they were superior objects to all of the other objects. 00:09:21.199 --> 00:09:22.399 That's not what made them holy. 00:09:23.539 --> 00:09:24.179 What was it? 00:09:25.039 --> 00:09:27.899 It was that they were gods. 00:09:28.339 --> 00:09:30.719 They were in His presence. 00:09:30.720 --> 00:09:34.019 They were used for the purposes of God. 00:09:34.340 --> 00:09:36.340 So they were holy. 00:09:37.259 --> 00:09:43.720 Otherwise, honestly, they're not a whole lot different from the next table or the next cow 00:09:43.720 --> 00:09:46.200 or the next utensil. 00:09:47.320 --> 00:09:52.580 But holy, set apart to be gods. 00:09:53.680 --> 00:09:54.500 I just think about that. 00:09:54.500 --> 00:09:57.039 That's pretty cool for the average bowl, right? 00:09:57.820 --> 00:10:02.720 I mean, you're just a bowl, an ordinary, everyday bowl. 00:10:02.879 --> hear it. 00:10:22.699 --> 00:10:29.580 It's going to be an instrument itself of cleansing and forgiveness as blood that is in the bowl 00:10:29.580 --> 00:10:31.059 is sprinkled on things. without having to perform to win a contest, 00:11:10.220 --> 00:11:12.780 without having to outdo someone else, 00:11:12.779 --> 00:11:17.919 can come in close contact with God Himself, 00:11:18.699 --> 00:11:26.240 can find oneself becoming an instrument of His healing in ordinary, everyday places, 00:11:26.500 --> 00:11:30.600 just by being placed in God's presence. 00:11:33.000 --> 00:11:34.059 And here's the deal. 00:11:35.299 --> 00:11:37.240 It's not just that that could happen, theoretically. 00:11:37.240 --> 00:11:40.419 It's that the Bible says over and over to God's people, 00:11:41.480 --> 00:11:43.740 you are holy. 00:11:45.120 --> 00:11:45.960 So many places. 00:11:46.419 --> 00:11:47.419 I'll just start with one. 00:11:47.700 --> 00:11:49.399 1 Corinthians chapter 3. 00:11:49.840 --> 00:11:52.600 Do you not know that you are God's temple 00:11:52.600 --> 00:11:54.820 and that God's Spirit dwells in you? 00:11:55.240 --> 00:11:56.860 If anyone destroys referred to as holy. 00:12:52.080 --> 00:12:53.480 And then throughout your life, 00:12:53.680 --> 00:12:56.160 once you're holy, you never cease to be. 00:12:58.720 --> 00:13:03.100 I want us to see that set apart for God reality 00:13:03.100 --> 00:13:04.800 in two ways this morning. 00:13:07.080 --> 00:13:10.340 First, we were made for this. 00:13:11.340 --> 00:13:13.780 To be God's people.
