--> 00:00:58.820 Now, Paul wrote this letter to the Colossians, to the city of Colossae. 00:01:00.100 --> 00:01:02.859 And it is in modern day Turkey. 00:01:03.899 --> 00:01:08.819 So it's right, you know, you have Italy, Greece. 00:01:09.819 --> 00:01:12.960 I guess for you guys it would be Italy, Greece, and then Turkey. 00:01:13.400 --> 00:01:18.200 And then kind of down around Iran and then Revelations 3, 00:01:37.439 --> 00:01:42.020 Laodicea was the lukewarm church. 00:01:42.019 --> 00:01:48.060 The church that he wanted to spit out because they were neither hot nor cold. 00:01:48.599 --> 00:01:53.699 They were the church that focused on physical wealth and not on spiritual wealth. 00:01:54.259 --> 00:01:56.759 But that's to, it's within 10 miles. 00:01:57.859 --> 00:01:59.719 So Colossians. 00:02:01.299 --> 00:02:07.500 Paul wrote this to combat two major problems in the area. 00:02:07.500 --> 00:02:11.819 One was the Gnostics. 00:02:12.879 --> 00:02:18.020 The Gnostics were kind of a group that came after the Christians. 00:02:18.219 --> 00:02:24.340 They tried to, yeah, Christ is good, but he's really not good enough. 00:02:24.900 --> 00:02:26.900 And you need more spiritualism. 00:02:27.400 --> 00:02:29.120 You need to do stuff. 00:02:29.120 --> 00:02:39.280 And if we look at, you know, some of the ideas have carried on through purgatory and the Catholicism 00:04:01.060 So there's a big predominant Jewish element and then there's this New Age Gnostic teaching. 00:04:01.619 --> 00:04:04.979 So Paul, in his wisdom, wrote a letter. 00:04:04.979 -->
