Spurgeon in London, 00:42:27.899 --> 00:42:32.980 where he preached to 6,000 people every Sunday morning, every Sunday evening. 00:42:32.980 --> 00:42:37.440 There were stories told where the Metropolitan Tabernacle was filled, 00:42:37.780 --> 00:42:41.900 and that there were queues outside the door to come in. 00:42:42.840 --> 00:42:44.380 Spurgeon said to the congregation, 00:42:44.659 --> 00:42:48.659 Can I please ask every converted person here to leave, 00:42:49.119 --> 00:42:52.760 so that your seat might be filled with those who are not yet Christians? 00:42:53.780 --> 00:42:54.599 That's remarkable. 00:42:55.500 --> 00:43:00.840 A remarkable, a 6,000 seat venue was so full that the preacher said, 00:43:00.840 --> 00:43:04.200 Can I ask those who are already Christians to leave, 00:43:04.460 --> 00:43:07.840 because there are people outside who are not yet Christians who want to come in? 00:43:08.620 --> 00:43:13.820 And the third character that strikes me is D.L. Moody, the American evangelist. 00:43:13.880 --> 00:43:15.280 He had a fourth grade education. 00:43:15.440 --> 00:43:17.620 That means at age 10, he left school. 00:43:18.840 --> 00:43:22.180 He wasn't well educated, but he was eager to learn. 00:43:22.179 --> 00:43:27.980 And if you're eager to learn, and you're converted by Christ, watch out. 00:43:28.500 --> 00:43:34.799 Because this man, without a formal education, became a powerful preacher of the gospel. 00:43:35.599 --> 00:43:38.339 He described the gospel in these three, you see, 00:43:38.799 --> 00:43:43.339 he describes the simple message of the gospel in simple terms. 00:43:43.460 --> 00:43:45.899 He said, The gospel is three R's. 00:43:45.900 --> 00:43:49.940 One, we are ruined, ruined by the fall. 00:43:50.340 --> 00:43:54.579 Two, we are redeemed, we are redeemed by the blood. 00:43:54.980 --> 00:43:58.700 And three, we are regenerated by the spirit. 00:43:59.380 --> 00:44:01.300 Sin brings ruin. 00:44:02.000 --> 00:44:05.639 But the gospel brings redemption, brings regeneration. 00:44:06.420 --> 00:44:10.619 And this young man, D.L. Moody, for the next 40 years of his life, 00:44:10.619 --> 00:44:16.079 he preached Jesus to 100 million people in person. 00:44:16.799 --> 00:44:22.539 Not educated, not refined, but he had a passion in the gospel, 00:44:22.539 --> 00:44:29.139 and he had a vision of how great God was, and how great God is. 00:44:30.039 --> 00:44:34.619 So God redeems, and God restores, and God renews. --> 00:45:01.780 I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne high and lifted up. 00:45:01.780 --> 00:45:09.560 If you move forward in Isaiah to Isaiah chapter 52 and verse 13, 00:45:10.380 --> 00:45:13.760 the final of the four servant songs, 00:45:14.640 --> 00:45:19.820 Isaiah 42, Isaiah 49, Isaiah 50, and Isaiah 52, 53, 00:45:20.640 --> 00:45:24.320 the introduction to the final servant song begins this way. 00:45:25.320 --> 00:45:28.800 Behold, my servant shall act wisely. 00:45:28.800 --> 00:45:34.440 He shall be high and lifted up and shall be exalted. 00:45:35.080 --> 00:45:39.760 The same words that introduce the vision of Isaiah in chapter 6 00:45:39.760 --> 00:45:46.300 are the same words that introduce this final song of the servant in 52 and 53. 00:45:47.200 --> 00:45:49.480 This same servant who will be crushed. 00:45:49.980 --> 00:45:52.220 This same servant who will be bruised. 00:45:52.460 --> 00:45:54.860 This same servant who will be pierced. 00:45:54.860 --> 00:45:59.720 Pierced for our transgression, bruised for our iniquities. 00:46:00.099 --> 00:46:02.519 The chastisement of our peace is upon him, 00:46:02.760 --> 00:46:04.700 and by his stripes we are healed. 00:46:06.120 --> 00:46:10.000 So the God who is high and lifted up in that vision in the temple, 00:46:10.420 --> 00:46:14.460 and the suffering servant who is high and lifted up, 00:46:15.079 00:47:01.380 --> 00:47:04.720 The coal taken from the altar, 00:47:05.539 --> 00:47:07.240 the atonement for sin, 00:47:07.619 --> 00:47:09.180 the taking away of guilt, 00:47:09.500 --> 00:47:11.380 is now found in a person. 00:47:11.800 --> 00:47:13.500 And that person is Jesus. 00:47:14.039 --> 00:47:17.940 He is the means by which God redeems 00:47:17.940 --> 00:47:22.119 and restores and --> 00:49:27.920 She somehow felt, she somehow knew, 00:49:28.340 --> 00:49:31.779 she somehow was confident that if she just touched 00:49:31.779 --> 00:49:33.639 the very edge of his garment,
