ago, we used another term in, you know, Emmanuel. 00:02:25.620 --> 00:02:31.879 You know, Emmanuel is another term of Christmas that, you know, we find it throughout the Bible. 00:02:32.020 --> of grace and truth. 00:05:36.379 --> 00:05:39.680 You know, here we find the Savior this morning. 00:05:40.980 --> 00:05:47.459 He speaks very specifically about the reality that Jesus Christ, He put also in Christ Jesus, 00:06:10.879 --> 00:06:14.600 who being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God, 00:06:14.920 --> 00:06:17.379 but notice this, made Himself of no reputation, 00:06:17.560 --> 00:06:19.220 took on Him the form of a servant, 00:06:19.700 --> 00:06:22.480 and was made in the likeness of men. 00:06:22.480 --> 00:06:29.660 You know, the story of Jesus is a story about one that had authority who came as a servant, 00:06:30.040 --> 00:06:32.400 that His story might connect with yours. 00:06:32.560 --> 00:06:37.140 He understood what it was, and a servant that would accomplish a task. 00:06:38.620 --> 00:06:39.960 You know, the one thing about a servant, 00:06:40.120 --> 00:06:43.379 servants are sent forth to accomplish something, 00:06:56.379 because Jesus came specifically in the form of a servant to accomplish a specific task. 00:06:57.819 --> 00:06:59.240 He came with purpose. 00:07:00.879 --> 00:07:02.660 Because I want you to understand this morning, 00:07:02.740 --> 00:07:04.660 oftentimes at Christmas, we think of Jesus, 00:07:04.740 --> 00:07:06.180 we think of the babe in the manger, 00:07:06.180 --> 00:07:11.139 and we have all sorts of warm thoughts of family and the dynamics with it. 00:07:11.300 --> 00:07:12.920 And sometimes we'll think of Jesus, 00:07:13.060 --> 00:07:16.639 He came as an example of a good person for us to follow, 00:07:16.920 --> 00:07:19.160 or instructor in righteousness, 00:07:19.620 --> 00:07:21.280 or, you know, that He was a good teacher. 00:07:21.980 --> 00:07:23.860 But I want you to understand, 00:07:24.680 --> 00:07:26.319 those things may be true, 00:07:27.259 --> 00:07:28.800 but it wasn't His purpose. 00:07:28.800 --> 00:07:37.160 Because a purpose entails more around it than just the item itself. 00:07:37.259 --> 00:07:39.100 And this purpose that Jesus came, 00:07:40.400 --> 00:07:43.879 was that He might have a connection with you. verse 8 tell us this, 00:08:00.860 --> 00:08:01.080 it says, 00:08:01.160 --> 00:08:02.819 Being found in fashion as a man, 00:08:03.520 --> 00:08:07.340 He humbled Himself and became obedient unto death, 00:08:07.400 --> 00:08:09.080 even the death of the cross. 00:08:10.280 --> 00:08:12.080 You know, I want you to see here this morning, 00:08:12.180 --> 00:08:13.340 the story of Jesus, 00:08:14.180 --> 00:08:15.540 as we saw with the kids. 00:08:15.720 --> 00:08:18.819 It's a great reality that it began clear back 00:08:18.819 --> 00:08:21.360 in the Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve, 00:08:21.540 --> 00:08:22.840 and with Abraham. 00:08:23.680 --> 00:08:25.040 But I want you to understand, 00:08:25.040 --> 00:08:28.840 it wasn't just there with Moses and the law. 00:08:30.000 --> 00:08:33.519 The story of Jesus began even before those things. 00:08:34.399 --> 00:08:38.820 The Bible makes it clear that God set forth a plan for us, 00:08:38.860 --> 00:08:41.360 and we understand it was set forth before. 00:08:41.920 --> 00:08:44.659 It's a story set from the foundation of the world. 00:08:45.600 --> 00:08:48.120 A plan that would provide all that was needed 00:08:48.120 --> 00:08:49.659 for a sinner to be rescued, 00:08:50.139 --> 00:08:52.120 a sinner to be secured forever. 00:08:52.120 --> 00:08:56.159 You know, there in John 1 verse 17, 00:08:56.360 --> 00:08:57.360 the Bible says this, 00:08:57.419 --> 00:08:59.139 For the law was given by Moses, 00:08:59.240 --> 00:09:02.080 but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. 00:09:03.120 --> 00:09:05.519 You know, we read over that verse many times, 00:09:05.600 --> 00:09:07.580 but I want you to stop and consider for a moment. 00:09:09.159 --> 00:09:13.240 Moses was given the law, 00:09:14.120 --> 00:09:17.440 but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. 00:09:17.840 --> 00:09:19.440 Jesus preceded Moses. 00:09:19.440 --> 00:09:21.260 He preceded Abraham. 00:09:21.260 --> 00:09:23.900 He preceded at the very foundation of the world. 00:09:24.820 --> 00:09:26.360 He is God himself. 00:09:26.460 --> 00:09:27.720 In other words, when it came from him, 00:09:27.720 --> Because the heart, that's the mind and the feelings and 00:24:17.339 --> 00:24:36.919 understanding what's going on inside.
