00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:02.439
 The message is going to be called Plank Eye.

00:00:03.100 --> 00:00:08.960
 For those who lived in the 90s Christian music, you might know, Sean's got a thumbs up back there.

00:00:08.960 --> 00:00:13.919
! He probably toured with him.

00:00:13.919 --> 00:00:14.919
 Plank Eye.

00:00:14.919 --> 00:00:17.240
 I'll read the verse in a second.

00:00:17.240 --> 00:00:29.960
 Plank Eye is basically a severe sickness, or a serious condition that can cause severe sickness to the body.

00:00:30.000 --> 00:00:32.000
 Not Pink Eye, Plank Eye.

00:00:32.000 --> 00:00:39.000
 Basically, I think this is kind of a sequel to the message I gave on evil suspicions.

00:00:39.000 --> 00:00:45.000
 We have four points, and I'm just going to jump right in.

00:00:45.000 --> 00:00:51.000
 The first point is that we need to judge ourselves first.

00:00:51.000 --> 00:00:53.000
 We need to judge ourselves first.

00:00:53.000 --> 00:00:59.000
 Last year, as we prayed to the Lord and asked Him what are the words that God would have to speak to us for last year,

00:00:59.000 --> 00:01:01.000
 one of those words was order.

00:01:01.000 --> 00:01:06.000
 And I was thinking about that this weekend, and particularly this morning.

00:01:06.000 --> 00:01:16.000
 And I was thinking of what the Lord has done in the last year in bringing different people into a more orderly place,

00:01:16.000 --> 00:01:19.000
 bringing homes into order, and I was encouraged by that.

00:01:19.000 --> 00:01:31.000
 One of the things, though, that came to mind as I was thinking about that was it can be easy to get about 90% there and say,

00:01:31.000 --> 00:01:34.000
 wow, we made some serious progress here, right?

00:01:34.000 --> 00:01:36.000
 Like, we brought an order to our home.

00:01:36.000 --> 00:01:39.000
 We've put things that were out of order into order.

00:01:39.000 --> 00:01:43.000
 But often it's that last 10% that's the most difficult.

00:01:43.000 --> 00:01:46.000
 It's that last 10% that maybe we don't want to deal with.

00:01:46.000 --> 00:01:50.000
 It's that last 10% that I don't want to talk about.

00:01:50.000 --> 00:01:56.000
 But I want to tell you, be encouraged by the order that was brought this last year,

00:01:56.000 --> 00:01:58.000
 but I think there's more that needs to happen.

00:01:58.000 --> 00:02:01.000
 And maybe it's that last 10%.

00:02:01.000 --> 00:02:04.000
 The 10% that you're just like, well, I mean, come on.

00:02:04.000 --> 00:02:06.000
 I've brought a lot of things in order.

00:02:06.000 --> 00:02:08.000
 This is way better than it was.

00:02:08.000 --> 00:02:10.000
 Well, what about that last 10%?

00:02:10.000 --> 00:02:11.000
 What about the hard things?

00:02:11.000 --> 00:02:13.000
 What about the things you've been putting off?

00:02:13.000 --> 00:02:17.000
 The things that you know you're supposed to put into order, but you haven't.

00:02:17.000 --> 00:02:20.000
 The things that have not had a sense of urgency on them.

00:02:20.000 --> 00:02:26.000
 I am bringing this up to you, I think by the Spirit of God, to say, bring the whole thing into order.

00:02:26.000 --> 00:02:28.000
 Execute that last 10%.

00:02:28.000 --> 00:02:30.000
 Be urgent about it.

00:02:30.000 --> 00:02:31.000
 Don't keep putting it off.

00:02:31.000 --> 00:02:34.000
 Don't say, oh, last year we focused on that.

00:02:34.000 --> 00:02:36.000
 We're not focused on this, that this year.

00:02:36.000 --> 00:02:38.000
 Don't say last year we focused on order.

00:02:38.000 --> 00:02:40.000
 I got about 90% there.

00:02:40.000 --> 00:02:41.000
 Get off my back.

00:02:41.000 --> 00:02:43.000
 No, let's, let's go all the way.

00:02:43.000 --> 00:02:48.000
 Let's, let's, let's bring that plane in for a landing and the work that the Lord began.

00:02:48.000 --> 00:02:52.000
 Let's mix that word with faith and say, God wants to bring it into completion.

00:02:52.000 --> 00:02:54.000
 Can you believe for that?

00:02:54.000 --> 00:02:56.000
 Can you believe for that in your families?

00:02:56.000 --> 00:02:58.000
 Can you believe for that in your own individual life?

00:02:58.000 --> 00:03:00.000
 Or maybe there's some things out of order.

00:03:00.000 --> 00:03:02.000
 God wants to bring things into order.

00:03:02.000 --> 00:03:05.000
 And when things are in order, things work better.

00:03:05.000 --> 00:03:10.000
 When things are in order, divine glory goes to God.

00:03:10.000 --> 00:03:13.000
 Like the glory, the glory goes to God, right?

00:03:13.000 --> 00:03:15.000
 This is the way it's supposed to be.

00:03:15.000 --> 00:03:19.000
 And so what I want to say is get your house in order first.

00:03:19.000 --> 00:03:31.000
 Uh, Colossians two, five, Paul, the apostle is saying, though I'm absent in body, yet I'm with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your good order and the firmness of your faith in Christ.

00:03:31.000 --> 00:03:32.000
 Okay.

00:03:32.000 --> 00:03:33.000
 Okay.

00:03:33.000 --> 00:03:44.000
 The apostle was rejoicing to see good order because that was one of the roles of an apostle is to bring order where there was disorder to bring order into these new churches and establish them on firm foundations.

00:03:44.000 --> 00:03:57.000
 This brings us to the text that the, uh, the title of my message came from, and that's Luke chapter six, verses 37 to 42.

00:03:57.000 --> 00:04:02.000
 Jesus here says, judge not, and you will not be judged.

00:04:02.000 --> 00:04:05.000
 Condemn not, and you will not be condemned.

00:04:05.000 --> 00:04:08.000
 Forgive, and you will be forgiven.

00:04:08.000 --> 00:04:10.000
 Give, and it will be given to you.

00:04:10.000 --> 00:04:16.000
 Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap.

00:04:16.000 --> 00:04:20.000
 For with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.

00:04:20.000 --> 00:04:24.000
 Now, uh, side note for any prosperity preachers in here.

00:04:24.000 --> 00:04:26.000
 He's not talking about money right here.

00:04:26.000 --> 00:04:27.000
 Okay.

00:04:27.000 --> 00:04:30.000
 That's not the context of this chapter.

00:04:30.000 --> 00:04:34.000
 He's not saying, Hey, give the money and it'll just start flowing to you, baby.

00:04:34.000 --> 00:04:35.000
 All right.

00:04:35.000 --> 00:04:36.000
 Like word, baby's not in there.

00:04:36.000 --> 00:04:41.000
 So you won't see that, but that's not, this is not about finances.

00:04:41.000 --> 00:04:43.000
 This is about judgment.

00:04:43.000 --> 00:04:47.000
 This is about condemnation, forgiveness.

00:04:47.000 --> 00:04:47.000

00:04:47.000 --> 00:04:53.000
 When you give forgiveness, when you give mercy, when you give judgment, whatever you're giving,

00:04:53.000 --> 00:04:55.000
 that's what you're going to receive back.

00:04:55.000 --> 00:04:57.000
 That's what he's saying here.

00:04:57.000 --> 00:05:01.000
 Saying good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap.

00:05:01.000 --> 00:05:04.000
 With the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.

00:05:04.000 --> 00:05:07.000
 This should be put the fear of the Lord in us, right?

00:05:07.000 --> 00:05:10.000
 I got to be careful what measure I'm using for other people.

00:05:10.000 --> 00:05:12.000
 Cause that's the measure that's going to come back on me.

00:05:12.000 --> 00:05:16.000
 I need to ask the question, is this the measure I would want on me?

00:05:16.000 --> 00:05:20.000
 Would I want it coming at me this heavy?

00:05:20.000 --> 00:05:22.000
 Would I want it coming at me this merciless?

00:05:22.000 --> 00:05:25.000
 Would I want it coming at me this unforgiving?

00:05:25.000 --> 00:05:27.000
 I want forgiveness.

00:05:27.000 --> 00:05:28.000
 I want mercy.

00:05:28.000 --> 00:05:30.000
 I don't want condemnation.

00:05:30.000 --> 00:05:35.000
 Therefore, what I would like to receive, how I would like to be loved,

00:05:35.000 --> 00:05:37.000
 that's how we should be giving it to other people.

00:05:37.000 --> 00:05:39.000
 Giving mercy.

00:05:39.000 --> 00:05:41.000
 Giving forgiveness.

00:05:41.000 --> 00:05:42.000
 Okay?

00:05:42.000 --> 00:05:44.000
 For the measure you use will be measured back to you.

00:05:44.000 --> 00:05:46.000
 Verse 39.

00:05:46.000 --> 00:05:48.000
 He also told them a parable.

00:05:48.000 --> 00:05:50.000
 Can a blind man lead a blind man?

00:05:50.000 --> 00:05:52.000
 Will they not both fall into a pit?

00:05:52.000 --> 00:05:58.000
 A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone when he is fully trained will be like his teacher.

00:05:58.000 --> 00:06:01.000
 And he asks an important question to go with this.

00:06:01.000 --> 00:06:03.000
 Can a blind man lead a blind man?

00:06:03.000 --> 00:06:15.000
 He says, why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log or other versions, the plank that is in your own eye?

00:06:15.000 --> 00:06:21.000
 Okay, why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but you do not notice the log that is in your own eye?

00:06:21.000 --> 00:06:22.000
 That's a good question.

00:06:22.000 --> 00:06:23.000
 Verse 42.

00:06:23.000 --> 00:06:25.000
 How can you say to your brother,

00:06:25.000 --> 00:06:33.000
 Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye, when you yourself do not see the log or the plank that is in your own eye?

00:06:33.000 --> 00:06:34.000
 You hypocrite.

00:06:34.000 --> 00:06:43.000
 First, take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother's eye.

00:06:43.000 --> 00:06:45.000
 So this is about seeing.

00:06:45.000 --> 00:06:46.000
 Okay?

00:06:46.000 --> 00:06:48.000
 This is about righteous judgment.

00:06:48.000 --> 00:06:49.000
 Okay?

00:06:49.000 --> 00:06:55.000
 A lot of people say, like to quote the first verse in the section, 37, and say, don't judge.

00:06:55.000 --> 00:06:57.000
 See, that's the problem with these Christians.

00:06:57.000 --> 00:06:59.000
 They just don't listen to Jesus.

00:06:59.000 --> 00:07:01.000
 Jesus said, don't judge.

00:07:01.000 --> 00:07:02.000
 He did say, don't judge.

00:07:02.000 --> 00:07:05.000
 But Christians don't read verses out of context.

00:07:05.000 --> 00:07:08.000
 Christians read verses in context.

00:07:08.000 --> 00:07:15.000
 And the same Jesus in the same paragraph who said, judge not, then said, hey, this is how you're to judge.

00:07:15.000 --> 00:07:18.000
 This isn't a verse about not judging.

00:07:18.000 --> 00:07:21.000
 It's a verse about not judging incorrectly.

00:07:21.000 --> 00:07:25.000
 It's about making sure that you judge righteously, appropriately.

00:07:25.000 --> 00:07:26.000
 Okay?

00:07:26.000 --> 00:07:27.000
 This is a verse.

00:07:27.000 --> 00:07:30.000
 This is a section on how to judge rightly.

00:07:30.000 --> 00:07:37.000
 But when you just pluck one verse out of here and say, don't judge, that's where it gets goofy.

00:07:37.000 --> 00:07:38.000
 Jesus was never saying that.

00:07:38.000 --> 00:07:42.000
 You can't read this whole thing and say, oh, that's what this is about.

00:07:42.000 --> 00:07:44.000
 This section is about seeing.

00:07:44.000 --> 00:07:47.000
 He said, can a blind man lead a blind man?

00:07:47.000 --> 00:07:48.000
 No.

00:07:48.000 --> 00:07:50.000
 Well, what makes the person blind?

00:07:50.000 --> 00:07:59.000
 Well, there's something obstructing their eyes, like a plank, like a log, like something sticking out of their eyes so that they can't see clearly.

00:07:59.000 --> 00:08:02.000
 No, a blind man can't lead a blind man.

00:08:02.000 --> 00:08:06.000
 And so he says, he's wanting us to be able to see clearly.

00:08:06.000 --> 00:08:07.000
 Okay?

00:08:07.000 --> 00:08:11.000
 So we don't want to take this and say, oh, we're not supposed to look at each other.

00:08:11.000 --> 00:08:14.000
 We're not supposed to find specks.

00:08:14.000 --> 00:08:16.000
 No, we are supposed to find specks.

00:08:16.000 --> 00:08:20.000
 You just can't see specks when there's a log sticking out of your eye.

00:08:20.000 --> 00:08:21.000
 Right?

00:08:21.000 --> 00:08:26.000
 Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?

00:08:26.000 --> 00:08:33.000
 How can you say to your brother, brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye, when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye?

00:08:33.000 --> 00:08:34.000
 You hypocrite.

00:08:34.000 --> 00:08:36.000
 We don't want to be hypocrites.

00:08:36.000 --> 00:08:39.000
 We have to first, there's an order to this.

00:08:39.000 --> 00:08:40.000
 There's an order to this.

00:08:40.000 --> 00:08:49.000
 If we want to be people who inspect people's specks, we can't be a plank-eyed speck inspector.

00:08:49.000 --> 00:08:50.000
 Right?

00:08:50.000 --> 00:08:53.000
 You can't be a plank-eyed speck inspector.

00:08:53.000 --> 00:08:56.000
 You have to first take the plank out of your own eye.

00:08:56.000 --> 00:08:58.000
 Otherwise, you're a hypocrite.

00:08:58.000 --> 00:09:00.000
 He says, you hypocrite first.

00:09:00.000 --> 00:09:02.000
 There's an order to this.

00:09:02.000 --> 00:09:06.000
 He's not condemning taking specks out of people's eye.

00:09:06.000 --> 00:09:10.000
 I mean, have you ever had a little speck in your eye and it's driving you crazy?

00:09:10.000 --> 00:09:11.000
 It hurts.

00:09:11.000 --> 00:09:12.000
 It's bothering you.

00:09:12.000 --> 00:09:13.000
 Your eye's watering.

00:09:13.000 --> 00:09:14.000
 It's getting red.

00:09:14.000 --> 00:09:15.000
 Might even get infected.

00:09:15.000 --> 00:09:18.000
 I had an eye infection so bad once that it turned into an eye ulcer.

00:09:18.000 --> 00:09:20.000
 You probably didn't know that that was a thing.

00:09:20.000 --> 00:09:21.000
 It is a thing.

00:09:21.000 --> 00:09:22.000
 I didn't know it was a thing.

00:09:22.000 --> 00:09:25.000
 But if I would have let it go the weekend, he said I would have lost vision in my eye.

00:09:25.000 --> 00:09:26.000
 Okay?

00:09:26.000 --> 00:09:28.000
 It's a big deal, these specks.

00:09:28.000 --> 00:09:32.000
 So we're not saying don't get specks out of people's eyes.

00:09:32.000 --> 00:09:33.000
 That's a good thing.

00:09:33.000 --> 00:09:36.000
 He's wanting us to get the specks out of people's eyes.

00:09:36.000 --> 00:09:40.000
 But to do that, you have to be able to see the speck in people's eyes.

00:09:40.000 --> 00:09:43.000
 He's trying to give us the right way to do it.

00:09:43.000 --> 00:09:44.000
 And there's an order.

00:09:44.000 --> 00:09:47.000
 First, get the plank out of your own eye.

00:09:47.000 --> 00:09:52.000
 If you want to be a speck inspector, make sure you're not a plank-eyed speck inspector.

00:09:52.000 --> 00:09:53.000
 Okay?

00:09:53.000 --> 00:09:55.000
 Get that out of your eye.

00:09:55.000 --> 00:09:57.000
 Are we doing this in the right order?

00:09:57.000 --> 00:09:59.000
 Are we doing this in the right order?

00:09:59.000 --> 00:10:04.000
 Then, it's good that we want to make sure that everyone's eyes are clear.

00:10:04.000 --> 00:10:06.000
 But start with us.

00:10:06.000 --> 00:10:07.000
 Start with us.

00:10:07.000 --> 00:10:08.000
 Start with me.

00:10:08.000 --> 00:10:11.000
 God, is there a plank in my eye?

00:10:11.000 --> 00:10:16.000
 Am I, am I, am I, do I have an overconfidence in my seeing?

00:10:16.000 --> 00:10:18.000
 If you have a plank in your eye, yes.

00:10:18.000 --> 00:10:23.000
 And you think you can be a speck inspector, you are overconfident.

00:10:23.000 --> 00:10:24.000
 That's not good.

00:10:24.000 --> 00:10:25.000
 That's not good.

00:10:25.000 --> 00:10:27.000
 You're a hypocrite, right?

00:10:27.000 --> 00:10:34.000
 But if you take it out first, then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother's eye.

00:10:34.000 --> 00:10:35.000
 That's truth.

00:10:35.000 --> 00:10:36.000
 Then you will.

00:10:36.000 --> 00:10:38.000
 And that's the way the church should be.

00:10:38.000 --> 00:10:42.000
 If it should be a bunch of clear-eyed people doing speck inspections.

00:10:42.000 --> 00:10:43.000
 Right?

00:10:43.000 --> 00:10:45.000
 Clear-eyed people who can see.

00:10:45.000 --> 00:10:47.000
 They can see clearly.

00:10:47.000 --> 00:10:54.000
 But there's nothing more annoying than a guy with a big log sticking out of his eye saying, hey, let me take the speck out of your eye.

00:10:54.000 --> 00:10:56.000
 It's like, bro, what are you talking about?

00:10:56.000 --> 00:10:58.000
 You're not going to be able to take the speck out of my eye.

00:10:58.000 --> 00:11:04.000
 You basically, you can't even function because you have this huge plank sticking out of your own eye.

00:11:04.000 --> 00:11:05.000
 Okay?

00:11:05.000 --> 00:11:07.000
 Don't be a plank-eyed speck inspector.

00:11:07.000 --> 00:11:08.000
 This is important.

00:11:08.000 --> 00:11:10.000
 Do we have the right order here?

00:11:10.000 --> 00:11:12.000
 Do we have the right order here?

00:11:12.000 --> 00:11:15.000
 Are we functioning in the right order?

00:11:15.000 --> 00:11:18.000
 Are we saying even just like we're taking the Lord's table?

00:11:18.000 --> 00:11:19.000
 Are we as concerned?

00:11:19.000 --> 00:11:24.000
 I think Seth even prayed it this morning and then Amber prayed this actual verse.

00:11:24.000 --> 00:11:26.000
 I don't know if you noticed that this morning we were praying.

00:11:26.000 --> 00:11:32.000
 But Seth said, help me to be more consumed with my own sin than the sins of others.

00:11:32.000 --> 00:11:36.000
 Help me to have the same passion for my own sin that I do for other people's sins.

00:11:36.000 --> 00:11:39.000
 That's taking the plank out of your eye.

00:11:39.000 --> 00:11:41.000
 That's the right order.

00:11:41.000 --> 00:11:43.000
 That's saying, hey, let's start here.

00:11:43.000 --> 00:11:47.000
 Let's go to the Lord's table and say, deal with me first, God.

00:11:47.000 --> 00:11:54.000
 That's not me hearing sermons and saying, yeah, thank God so-and-so's here.

00:11:54.000 --> 00:11:55.000
 It's a good thing they're here.

00:11:55.000 --> 00:11:56.000
 They need to hear this.

00:11:56.000 --> 00:11:58.000
 God knows I don't, but they do.

00:11:58.000 --> 00:12:02.000
 You know, like it's us saying, no, God, I'm the sinner.

00:12:02.000 --> 00:12:03.000
 I'm the one who needs help.

00:12:03.000 --> 00:12:05.000
 I'm the one who needs to see.

00:12:05.000 --> 00:12:07.000
 I'm the one who needs to be cleansed.

00:12:07.000 --> 00:12:08.000
 I'm the one who needs to be delivered.

00:12:08.000 --> 00:12:10.000
 I'm the one who needs to be freed.

00:12:10.000 --> 00:12:12.000
 I'm the one who needs to be pure.

00:12:12.000 --> 00:12:13.000
 Lord, help me.

00:12:13.000 --> 00:12:14.000
 Start here.

00:12:14.000 --> 00:12:17.000
 Draw a circle on yourself.

00:12:17.000 --> 00:12:19.000
 Say, Lord, send revival here, right here.

00:12:19.000 --> 00:12:20.000
 Start with me.

00:12:20.000 --> 00:12:22.000
 Change my heart.

00:12:22.000 --> 00:12:24.000
 Give me perspective.

00:12:24.000 --> 00:12:26.000
 And then you are useful to the master.

00:12:26.000 --> 00:12:31.000
 Now you're in a place where you can see, because there's two reasons why that's important.

00:12:31.000 --> 00:12:36.000
 One you see, like literally, and then the other you see compassionately.

00:12:36.000 --> 00:12:41.000
 Once the plank is out of your eye, you see literally, meaning there's no obstruction.

00:12:41.000 --> 00:12:43.000
 But then you also see compassionately.

00:12:43.000 --> 00:12:47.000
 Because you were once a log, a plank eye person too.

00:12:47.000 --> 00:12:49.000
 You're like, I had a severe case of plank eye as well.

00:12:49.000 --> 00:12:51.000
 Like, I understand.

00:12:51.000 --> 00:12:54.000
 I'm not going to criticize your speck.

00:12:54.000 --> 00:12:56.000
 I used to have a log.

00:12:56.000 --> 00:12:59.000
 Your speck's nothing compared to the log I used to have.

00:12:59.000 --> 00:13:02.000
 This is why Paul says, I was the chief of sinners.

00:13:02.000 --> 00:13:05.000
 You might say, well, that's some cute hyperbole.

00:13:05.000 --> 00:13:08.000
 You know, Paul's just, you know, being hyperbolic.

00:13:08.000 --> 00:13:11.000
 He's just kind of, you know, trying to make a point.

00:13:11.000 --> 00:13:13.000
 No, Paul believed that.

00:13:13.000 --> 00:13:15.000
 And it marked his ministry.

00:13:15.000 --> 00:13:19.000
 It gave his ministry power because it gave his ministry compassion.

00:13:19.000 --> 00:13:24.000
 And compassion is the marker of Christ.

00:13:24.000 --> 00:13:26.000
 Christ was filled with compassion.

00:13:26.000 --> 00:13:32.000
 Christ had a gut level compassion that caused him to weep over Jerusalem when he looked at them.

00:13:32.000 --> 00:13:39.000
 He said, Jerusalem, Jerusalem, I wanted to, I long to gather you like a hen gathers a chicks.

00:13:39.000 --> 00:13:40.000
 Right?

00:13:40.000 --> 00:13:48.000
 That's the kind of compassion that drives real, sincere, genuine, Christian charity and love.

00:13:48.000 --> 00:13:49.000
 And that's what we need.

00:13:49.000 --> 00:13:50.000
 But it's got to start with us.

00:13:50.000 --> 00:13:52.000
 It's got to start with my house.

00:13:52.000 --> 00:13:53.000
 Is my house in order?

00:13:53.000 --> 00:13:55.000
 Is my life in order?

00:13:55.000 --> 00:13:58.000
 Is, is my individual life?

00:13:58.000 --> 00:14:01.000
 As heads of homes, men, is your home in order?

00:14:01.000 --> 00:14:05.000
 Are you leading in such a way to say, hey, I'm bringing my home in order.

00:14:05.000 --> 00:14:08.000
 Women who are married to those men, are you helping in this?

00:14:08.000 --> 00:14:12.000
 Single people, you got to bring your, your own house in order.

00:14:12.000 --> 00:14:13.000
 Okay?

00:14:13.000 --> 00:14:16.000
 And just say, all right, this is, I want to bring this in order.

00:14:16.000 --> 00:14:25.000
 I want to be the person who's conscious of myself, not in some morbidly introspective way, but in a, in a holy somber way to say, hey, I'm sober minded.

00:14:25.000 --> 00:14:27.000
 I want to be someone who sees clearly.

00:14:27.000 --> 00:14:29.000
 We need people who see clearly.

00:14:29.000 --> 00:14:34.000
 And it's got to start with us first, judging ourselves first.

00:14:34.000 --> 00:14:42.000
 Galatians 6, one to five says, brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him.

00:14:42.000 --> 00:14:43.000
 How?

00:14:43.000 --> 00:14:45.000
 In a spirit of gentleness.

00:14:45.000 --> 00:14:50.000
 Keep watching yourself, lest you too be tempted.

00:14:50.000 --> 00:14:58.000
 I always used to think of that verse to think, okay, if I'm correcting someone, I got to make sure that the sin I'm correcting them, that I don't fall in the same sin.

00:14:58.000 --> 00:15:00.000
 I don't necessarily think that's what he's saying there.

00:15:00.000 --> 00:15:09.000
 I think what he's saying is, realize that as you're correcting and trying to resource someone else who's fallen into temptation, you could just be just as susceptible.

00:15:09.000 --> 00:15:12.000
 Maybe not in the same area, but somewhere else.

00:15:12.000 --> 00:15:13.000
 We're all weak.

00:15:13.000 --> 00:15:15.000
 We're all prone to wander.

00:15:15.000 --> 00:15:19.000
 We're all people who, apart from Christ, have no hope.

00:15:19.000 --> 00:15:25.000
 And so, we need to keep watching ourselves, lest we too be tempted to think, oh, I'm not above that.

00:15:25.000 --> 00:15:30.000
 Verse two says, bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

00:15:30.000 --> 00:15:31.000
 Okay?

00:15:31.000 --> 00:15:34.000
 We are supposed to take up people's burdens.

00:15:34.000 --> 00:15:37.000
 You know, I love when people say, well, I don't want to be a burden.

00:15:37.000 --> 00:15:40.000
 So, you don't want to be the thing that the Bible tells me to bear.

00:15:40.000 --> 00:15:43.000
 How's that supposed to work?

00:15:43.000 --> 00:15:48.000
 Why are you so self-conscious about being a burden when the Bible says that that's what Christians do?

00:15:48.000 --> 00:15:50.000
 We bear one another's burdens.

00:15:50.000 --> 00:15:51.000
 Well, that's their deal.

00:15:51.000 --> 00:15:52.000
 They need to figure that out.

00:15:52.000 --> 00:15:54.000
 No, it's not.

00:15:54.000 --> 00:15:55.000
 Do you hear me on that?

00:15:55.000 --> 00:15:56.000
 It's not.

00:15:56.000 --> 00:16:01.000
 You judge yourself first, and then you go and bear other people's burdens.

00:16:01.000 --> 00:16:06.000
 You carry them, and you say, hey, this person has some sin in their life.

00:16:06.000 --> 00:16:08.000
 I'm going to take that burden upon myself.

00:16:08.000 --> 00:16:12.000
 I'm going to be in the pains of childbirth until Christ is formed in them.

00:16:12.000 --> 00:16:14.000
 I'm going to take this to prayer.

00:16:14.000 --> 00:16:16.000
 I'm going to take this to persevering prayer.

00:16:16.000 --> 00:16:19.000
 I'm not going to take this to a judgment that I would never want to receive.

00:16:19.000 --> 00:16:30.000
 I'm going to take it to the throne room, get out of the courtroom, get into the throne room, and cry out to the true judge and appeal to the judge with the blood of Christ for my brother and sister.

00:16:30.000 --> 00:16:33.000
 Say, God, have mercy on them.

00:16:33.000 --> 00:16:34.000
 Deliver them.

00:16:34.000 --> 00:16:37.000
 And I'm going to press in to see that happen.

00:16:37.000 --> 00:16:38.000
 That is how it works.

00:16:38.000 --> 00:16:41.000
 Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

00:16:41.000 --> 00:16:46.000
 For if anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself.

00:16:46.000 --> 00:16:52.000
 But let each one test his own work, and then his reason to boast will be in himself alone and not in his neighbor.

00:16:52.000 --> 00:16:55.000
 For each will have to bear his own load.

00:16:55.000 --> 00:16:57.000
 Again, going back to divine order.

00:16:57.000 --> 00:16:58.000
 Test yourself.

00:16:58.000 --> 00:16:59.000
 Start with your own load.

00:16:59.000 --> 00:17:01.000
 How are you doing on your own load?

00:17:01.000 --> 00:17:04.000
 If you want to go carry someone else's, first carry your own.

00:17:04.000 --> 00:17:05.000
 Just wait a second.

00:17:05.000 --> 00:17:07.000
 You're going to go carry someone else's burden?

00:17:07.000 --> 00:17:08.000
 You're not even carrying your burden.

00:17:08.000 --> 00:17:12.000
 You're not even carrying weight in your own home, in your own household.

00:17:12.000 --> 00:17:14.000
 You've got to test yourself.

00:17:14.000 --> 00:17:18.000
 Test your own work and say, hey, are you carrying your own load first?

00:17:18.000 --> 00:17:21.000
 Don't think you're something when you're nothing.

00:17:21.000 --> 00:17:24.000
 Matthew Henry says self-conceit is self-deceit.

00:17:24.000 --> 00:17:25.000
 Okay?

00:17:25.000 --> 00:17:28.000
 If anyone thinks he's something when he's nothing, he deceives himself.

00:17:28.000 --> 00:17:29.000
 He deceives himself.

00:17:29.000 --> 00:17:33.000
 We have this arrogant, condescending pride that thinks I know better.

00:17:33.000 --> 00:17:37.000
 We're not testing ourself and realizing I got to start at home.

00:17:37.000 --> 00:17:41.000
 What ends up happening is self-conceit becomes self-deceit.

00:17:41.000 --> 00:17:51.000
 First Corinthians 11 was read today by Seth when we took the Lord's table.

00:17:51.000 --> 00:17:59.000
 Verse 27 says, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in any unworthy manner will be guilty of sin against the body and blood of the Lord.

00:17:59.000 --> 00:18:01.000
 Let a person examine himself.

00:18:01.000 --> 00:18:03.000
 Again, same kind of concept.

00:18:03.000 --> 00:18:04.000
 Start with yourself.

00:18:04.000 --> 00:18:06.000
 Start with our household.

00:18:06.000 --> 00:18:07.000
 Let a person examine himself.

00:18:07.000 --> 00:18:09.000
 In this way, let him eat the bread and drink from the cup.

00:18:09.000 --> 00:18:14.000
 But whoever eats and drinks without recognizing the body eats and drinks judgment on himself.

00:18:14.000 --> 00:18:18.000
 This is why many are sick and ill among you and many have fallen asleep.

00:18:18.000 --> 00:18:23.000
 If we were properly judging ourselves, we would not be judged.

00:18:23.000 --> 00:18:25.000
 Do you see the order there again?

00:18:25.000 --> 00:18:26.000
 It's the same thing.

00:18:26.000 --> 00:18:28.000
 There's a theme here.

00:18:28.000 --> 00:18:31.000
 Judge ourselves first, then judge other people.

00:18:31.000 --> 00:18:38.000
 If we're coming to the Lord's table realizing we're not recognizing the body, we're thinking our part of the body is superior.

00:18:38.000 --> 00:18:40.000
 Our part of the body is better.

00:18:40.000 --> 00:18:42.000
 Our part of the body is independent.

00:18:42.000 --> 00:18:44.000
 I don't need that part of the body.

00:18:44.000 --> 00:18:47.000
 If that part of the body is weak, that's their deal.

00:18:47.000 --> 00:18:48.000
 No.

00:18:48.000 --> 00:18:50.000
 If that part of the body is weak, we're all weak.

00:18:50.000 --> 00:18:53.000
 If that part of the body is broken, we're all broken.

00:18:53.000 --> 00:18:56.000
 If that part of the body is sick, the whole body's sick.

00:18:56.000 --> 00:19:00.000
 If that part of the body is handicapped, then we're all handicapped.

00:19:01.000 --> 00:19:07.000
 And so, when we take the Lord's table, we say, I want to make sure I recognize the body, like Seth was saying.

00:19:07.000 --> 00:19:10.000
 Am I relating rightly to these brothers and sisters?

00:19:10.000 --> 00:19:12.000
 Am I saying, I need this part?

00:19:12.000 --> 00:19:19.000
 And if that part is weak, if that part is broken, yes, it's their responsibility to put their house in order.

00:19:19.000 --> 00:19:26.000
 But I want to be a person that puts judges myself first so that I can also then relate rightly to other people and carry their burdens.

00:19:26.000 --> 00:19:28.000
 And carry their burdens.

00:19:28.000 --> 00:19:31.000
 So that we're not pointing fingers at each other.

00:19:31.000 --> 00:19:34.000
 We're not, our fingers aren't used to point.

00:19:34.000 --> 00:19:37.000
 Our fingers are used to pull up and lift up and build up.

00:19:37.000 --> 00:19:40.000
 But we've got to start first with us.

00:19:40.000 --> 00:19:43.000
 And we have to judge ourselves so that we will not be judged.

00:19:43.000 --> 00:19:48.000
 But when we are judged by the Lord, we are disciplined so that we may not be condemned with the world.

00:19:48.000 --> 00:19:52.000
 Again, God's judgment is ultimately mercy.

00:19:52.000 --> 00:19:56.000
 He's saying, I'm disciplining you so that you won't be judged with the world.

00:19:56.000 --> 00:20:00.000
 I'm disciplining you so that you can be brought into the truth and brought into right relationship.

00:20:00.000 --> 00:20:03.000
 We have to judge ourselves first.

00:20:03.000 --> 00:20:07.000
 Okay, that's the, I think that's just a really important point.

00:20:07.000 --> 00:20:09.000
 I'm asking us to consider.

00:20:09.000 --> 00:20:13.000
 I'm asking us to go back and think, okay, I was focused on order.

00:20:13.000 --> 00:20:15.000
 What about the last 10%?

00:20:15.000 --> 00:20:18.000
 Is there something left undone that I have to make right?

00:20:18.000 --> 00:20:19.000
 That I have to make right.

00:20:19.000 --> 00:20:22.000
 If there's something in my house that I know is off.

00:20:22.000 --> 00:20:25.000
 That I know could be my finances.

00:20:25.000 --> 00:20:26.000
 It could be my parenting.

00:20:26.000 --> 00:20:29.000
 It could be my sexual purity.

00:20:29.000 --> 00:20:33.000
 It could be my commitment, keeping my word.

00:20:33.000 --> 00:20:35.000
 It could be my honesty.

00:20:35.000 --> 00:20:38.000
 It could be walking in the light rather than walking in darkness.

00:20:38.000 --> 00:20:39.000
 I don't know.

00:20:39.000 --> 00:20:40.000
 You know what it is.

00:20:40.000 --> 00:20:42.000
 But where is that last 10%?

00:20:42.000 --> 00:20:43.000
 We got to judge ourselves.

00:20:43.000 --> 00:20:48.000
 And when we walk in an order there, an obedience there, that's going to make us a people that

00:20:48.000 --> 00:20:52.000
 are going to be able to carry other people's burdens and see other people's facts.

00:20:52.000 --> 00:20:54.000
 But we got to start there.

00:20:54.000 --> 00:20:55.000
 Amen?

00:20:55.000 --> 00:20:56.000
 Okay.

00:20:56.000 --> 00:21:01.000
 Number two, we need to recognize that we see in part, know in part, and we are a part.

00:21:01.000 --> 00:21:02.000
 Okay.

00:21:02.000 --> 00:21:06.000
 We see in part, we know in part, and we are a part.

00:21:06.000 --> 00:21:08.000
 1 Corinthians 13, 9 and 12 says,

00:21:08.000 --> 00:21:13.000
 We know in part, and we prophesy in part, for we now see in a mere dim way.

00:21:13.000 --> 00:21:14.000
 Okay.

00:21:14.000 --> 00:21:20.000
 It's always important for us that when we're in body life and we are seeing, again, we're

00:21:20.000 --> 00:21:22.000
 going back to judgment is seeing.

00:21:22.000 --> 00:21:24.000
 It's looking, it's seeing, and it's seeing rightly.

00:21:24.000 --> 00:21:28.000
 You might say, okay, hey, no plank eye here.

00:21:28.000 --> 00:21:29.000
 Right?

00:21:29.000 --> 00:21:33.000
 I'm a qualified spec inspector, right?

00:21:33.000 --> 00:21:35.000
 The plank is out of the eye.

00:21:35.000 --> 00:21:36.000
 I'm good to go.

00:21:36.000 --> 00:21:37.000
 Right?

00:21:37.000 --> 00:21:40.000
 Well, it doesn't stop there.

00:21:40.000 --> 00:21:43.000
 That doesn't just give you carte blanche to just start chopping off heads then.

00:21:43.000 --> 00:21:44.000
 Right?

00:21:44.000 --> 00:21:48.000
 At that point in time, you have to realize, I still only see in part.

00:21:48.000 --> 00:21:50.000
 Well, wait a second.

00:21:50.000 --> 00:21:55.000
 I thought when I get, I thought when I get the plank out of my eye, then I can see clearly.

00:21:55.000 --> 00:21:58.000
 You can, but clearly in part.

00:21:58.000 --> 00:21:59.000
 Right?

00:21:59.000 --> 00:22:03.000
 I mean, you know the concept of peripheral vision, right?

00:22:03.000 --> 00:22:07.000
 You might be able to see clearly forward, but I don't see clearly to the side.

00:22:07.000 --> 00:22:11.000
 And I don't see at all to my, you know, I don't have eyes in the back of my head.

00:22:11.000 --> 00:22:13.000
 I can see clearly forward.

00:22:13.000 --> 00:22:15.000
 I can see partially to the side.

00:22:15.000 --> 00:22:17.000
 I can't see at all behind me.

00:22:17.000 --> 00:22:20.000
 Just because you can see something clearly doesn't mean you're not seeing, doesn't mean

00:22:20.000 --> 00:22:22.000
 you're seeing everything.

00:22:22.000 --> 00:22:26.000
 He said, we know in part, we prophesy in part, we see in a mirror dimly.

00:22:26.000 --> 00:22:27.000
 Okay?

00:22:27.000 --> 00:22:28.000
 Okay.

00:22:28.000 --> 00:22:32.000
 So even once you get your eye cleared and there's no more plank in your eye, you have

00:22:32.000 --> 00:22:35.000
 to know, I'm still only seeing a part.

00:22:35.000 --> 00:22:38.000
 Someone else is seeing a part I don't see.

00:22:38.000 --> 00:22:40.000
 Someone else is a part of the body that I'm not.

00:22:40.000 --> 00:22:46.000
 I need those other parts of the body and I can't be conceded and puffed up in pride to

00:22:46.000 --> 00:22:49.000
 say, hey, I got this figured out.

00:22:49.000 --> 00:22:54.000
 Which means we also have to be careful when we make blanket statements about the whole

00:22:54.000 --> 00:22:55.000
 church.

00:22:55.000 --> 00:22:56.000
 You might say, well, I can do that.

00:22:56.000 --> 00:22:57.000
 Christ church is really small.

00:22:57.000 --> 00:22:58.000
 That's easy.

00:22:58.000 --> 00:23:01.000
 Typically not accurate though.

00:23:01.000 --> 00:23:02.000
 Okay.

00:23:02.000 --> 00:23:06.000
 When we make blanking statements about the whole church is this or the whole church is that.

00:23:06.000 --> 00:23:09.000
 Remember, we see in part.

00:23:09.000 --> 00:23:11.000
 We see in part.

00:23:11.000 --> 00:23:14.000
 We prophesy in part.

00:23:14.000 --> 00:23:15.000
 We know in part.

00:23:15.000 --> 00:23:17.000
 And we are a part.

00:23:17.000 --> 00:23:18.000
 Right?

00:23:18.000 --> 00:23:23.000
 Ephesians 4, 16 says, from him, the whole body joined and held together where every supporting

00:23:23.000 --> 00:23:26.000
 ligament grows and builds itself up in love.

00:23:26.000 --> 00:23:27.000
 When?

00:23:27.000 --> 00:23:28.000
 How?

00:23:28.000 --> 00:23:31.000
 As each part does its work.

00:23:31.000 --> 00:23:33.000
 We're only a part.

00:23:33.000 --> 00:23:40.000
 If you get, if we as individuals get so hyped up and puffed up about our part and say, my

00:23:40.000 --> 00:23:45.000
 part's so important and we neglect to see the importance of the other parts and think

00:23:45.000 --> 00:23:49.000
 that our part is the end all be all, we're missing.

00:23:49.000 --> 00:23:51.000
 We're missing out.

00:23:51.000 --> 00:23:54.000
 That is, that is not a right seeing.

00:23:54.000 --> 00:23:58.000
 We have to realize, okay, I only see in part, but I only am a part as well.

00:23:58.000 --> 00:24:02.000
 There's another part of the body that sees differently than me, that has a different perspective

00:24:02.000 --> 00:24:03.000
 as me.

00:24:03.000 --> 00:24:06.000
 And their perspective is just as important as my perspective.

00:24:06.000 --> 00:24:09.000
 And my perspective is incomplete.

00:24:09.000 --> 00:24:11.000
 Do you believe that?

00:24:11.000 --> 00:24:12.000
 Do you believe that?

00:24:12.000 --> 00:24:14.000
 Just ask the question right now.

00:24:14.000 --> 00:24:17.000
 I'm not asking for a show of hands or anything like that, but I'm asking you to introspectively

00:24:17.000 --> 00:24:23.000
 take a look and say, when it comes to my seeing, the way I see Christ's church, that

00:24:23.000 --> 00:24:30.000
 I see all the other people in this church, am I seeing in a way where I realize this is

00:24:30.000 --> 00:24:31.000
 just part?

00:24:31.000 --> 00:24:35.000
 Am I seeing in a way of just saying, this is incomplete?

00:24:35.000 --> 00:24:38.000
 Am I seeing in a way of saying, I'm just one part of the body.

00:24:38.000 --> 00:24:39.000
 There's so many other parts.

00:24:39.000 --> 00:24:41.000
 My part's an important part.

00:24:41.000 --> 00:24:46.000
 My part is needed for the church to be built up, but it is just that it's only a part.

00:24:46.000 --> 00:24:50.000
 And for the church to be built up, each part must do its work.

00:24:50.000 --> 00:24:55.000
 And so I need to do my part, but I can't think that my part is the end all be all.

00:24:55.000 --> 00:24:58.000
 I need to be a champion of the other parts.

00:24:58.000 --> 00:25:00.000
 Are you a champion of the other parts?

00:25:00.000 --> 00:25:02.000
 Do you value the other parts?

00:25:02.000 --> 00:25:07.000
 Are you bearing the burdens of the other parts to see them be healthy in the same way that

00:25:07.000 --> 00:25:10.000
 you're passionate about yourself, judging yourself and you being healthy?

00:25:10.000 --> 00:25:16.000
 If we all judged ourself and got healthy, we could be a part of the body that builds itself

00:25:16.000 --> 00:25:21.000
 up in love together where we're carrying the burdens of other people and we're all seeing

00:25:21.000 --> 00:25:22.000
 clearly together.

00:25:22.000 --> 00:25:25.000
 Are we doing that?

00:25:25.000 --> 00:25:26.000
 Are we doing that?

00:25:26.000 --> 00:25:27.000
 Super important.

00:25:27.000 --> 00:25:33.000
 We have to be careful that we don't get arrogant about what we're seeing because we're seeing

00:25:33.000 --> 00:25:34.000
 in part.

00:25:34.000 --> 00:25:35.000
 Seeing in part.

00:25:35.000 --> 00:25:38.000
 That's just a humbling thing that's always there.

00:25:38.000 --> 00:25:40.000
 It's there for all of us.

00:25:40.000 --> 00:25:41.000
 It's not just some people.

00:25:41.000 --> 00:25:43.000
 It's not like, hey, some of you need to hear this.

00:25:43.000 --> 00:25:45.000
 No, all of us need to hear this.

00:25:45.000 --> 00:25:49.000
 It's not like there's some people who are all the parts and then one person who's a part

00:25:49.000 --> 00:25:50.000
 of the part.

00:25:50.000 --> 00:25:51.000
 No, we're all parts.

00:25:51.000 --> 00:25:53.000
 We all see in part.

00:25:53.000 --> 00:25:56.000
 And so we all need to have humility in our seeing.

00:25:56.000 --> 00:25:59.000
 Say, I only see in part.

00:25:59.000 --> 00:26:02.000
 Thirdly, okay, we're seeing clearly.

00:26:02.000 --> 00:26:04.000
 We're seeing in part.

00:26:04.000 --> 00:26:06.000
 We're realizing that we're humble.

00:26:06.000 --> 00:26:12.000
 Now, when we're seeing and we approach people with our knowledge of their specs, right?

00:26:12.000 --> 00:26:16.000
 And we tell them, hey, there's a spec here that I really think you need to get out of

00:26:16.000 --> 00:26:17.000
 your eye.

00:26:17.000 --> 00:26:19.000
 We need to be gracious and merciful.

00:26:19.000 --> 00:26:21.000
 We need to be gracious and merciful.

00:26:21.000 --> 00:26:26.000
 James 2.13 says, judgment is without mercy to the one who has shown no mercy.

00:26:26.000 --> 00:26:28.000
 Mercy triumphs over judgment.

00:26:28.000 --> 00:26:32.000
 Or in other words, as Kevin Prosh once saying it, the mercy you don't give is the mercy you

00:26:32.000 --> 00:26:33.000
 don't get.

00:26:33.000 --> 00:26:34.000
 Okay?

00:26:34.000 --> 00:26:37.000
 So we have to be merciful in our judgment.

00:26:37.000 --> 00:26:39.000
 Does that mean you don't judge?

00:26:39.000 --> 00:26:40.000
 No.

00:26:40.000 --> 00:26:41.000
 You still have to judge.

00:26:41.000 --> 00:26:46.000
 You still have to render a proper judgment on the spec that you see.

00:26:46.000 --> 00:26:48.000
 It's just you have to do it with mercy.

00:26:48.000 --> 00:26:50.000
 Mercy mixed with judgment.

00:26:50.000 --> 00:26:51.000
 Okay?

00:26:51.000 --> 00:26:53.000
 John 1.14 and 17.

00:26:53.000 --> 00:26:55.000
 John 1.14 and 17.

00:26:55.000 --> 00:27:03.000
 These verses both speak of this really important description of Jesus.

00:27:03.000 --> 00:27:04.000
 Okay?

00:27:04.000 --> 00:27:11.000
 It brings about two important things in the same phrase when referring to Jesus in John 1.14 and 17.

00:27:11.000 --> 00:27:15.000
 It says that Jesus was a man full of what?

00:27:15.000 --> 00:27:16.000
 Just grace?

00:27:16.000 --> 00:27:17.000
 No.

00:27:17.000 --> 00:27:18.000
 Just truth?

00:27:18.000 --> 00:27:19.000
 No.

00:27:19.000 --> 00:27:21.000
 What was Jesus full of?

00:27:21.000 --> 00:27:22.000
 Grace and truth.

00:27:22.000 --> 00:27:23.000
 Okay?

00:27:23.000 --> 00:27:28.000
 And oftentimes in churches you end up, you got the grace people and you got the truth people.

00:27:28.000 --> 00:27:31.000
 And the grace and the truth people don't really like each other very much.

00:27:31.000 --> 00:27:37.000
 Because the grace people think that the truth people are too hard and the truth people think that the grace people are too easy.

00:27:38.000 --> 00:27:43.000
 But Jesus somehow, someway was a man full of grace and truth.

00:27:43.000 --> 00:27:44.000
 And guess what?

00:27:44.000 --> 00:27:46.000
 So should his followers be.

00:27:46.000 --> 00:27:48.000
 So should his followers be.

00:27:48.000 --> 00:27:50.000
 Let me ask you the question.

00:27:50.000 --> 00:27:57.000
 If someone were to talk about you, would they say, so-and-so is a man or a woman of grace and truth?

00:27:57.000 --> 00:28:01.000
 Or would they say, so-and-so is a person of grace.

00:28:01.000 --> 00:28:02.000
 So-and-so is a person of truth.

00:28:02.000 --> 00:28:06.000
 Or would they say, no, this person is a person of grace and truth.

00:28:06.000 --> 00:28:07.000
 That's what you want.

00:28:07.000 --> 00:28:09.000
 Because that's what Jesus is.

00:28:09.000 --> 00:28:12.000
 Jesus is a man full of grace and truth.

00:28:12.000 --> 00:28:14.000
 Are you full of both?

00:28:14.000 --> 00:28:18.000
 And don't be these people who are saying, yeah, that's right, that's good.

00:28:18.000 --> 00:28:20.000
 But I secretly think that grace is better.

00:28:20.000 --> 00:28:23.000
 Or I secretly think that truth is better.

00:28:23.000 --> 00:28:26.000
 It's like, yeah, we're full of grace and truth.

00:28:26.000 --> 00:28:27.000
 Grace and truth.

00:28:27.000 --> 00:28:28.000
 But truth is better.

00:28:28.000 --> 00:28:30.000
 You know, but grace is better.

00:28:30.000 --> 00:28:33.000
 It's like, no, they're both important.

00:28:33.000 --> 00:28:35.000
 You must have both.

00:28:35.000 --> 00:28:38.000
 Are you a man or a woman of grace and truth?

00:28:38.000 --> 00:28:40.000
 Ask the question.

00:28:40.000 --> 00:28:43.000
 And if you're not, then we need to repent.

00:28:43.000 --> 00:28:47.000
 You have to just say, something's off in my seeing.

00:28:47.000 --> 00:28:52.000
 What I'm seeing, if I only have grace, it's not going to go well.

00:28:52.000 --> 00:28:58.000
 Like, if you're a doctor and you're looking at the eye and you're just thinking, well, you know, they have this really bad infection.

00:28:58.000 --> 00:28:59.000
 They'll probably lose their eye.

00:28:59.000 --> 00:29:00.000
 But I don't want to be hard on them.

00:29:00.000 --> 00:29:02.000
 I'm just going to be gracious toward them, you know?

00:29:02.000 --> 00:29:03.000
 Like, they're having a hard time.

00:29:03.000 --> 00:29:06.000
 I'd be like, please don't do that.

00:29:06.000 --> 00:29:08.000
 Can you please care about truth?

00:29:08.000 --> 00:29:10.000
 Like, I don't want you to just be gracious.

00:29:10.000 --> 00:29:12.000
 I want to keep my eye.

00:29:12.000 --> 00:29:22.000
 And if you had someone who just cared about truth and was, you know, banging up your eye and like poking you in the eye and hurting you, you'd just be like, okay, can you be a little bit more gracious in how you're fixing my eye here?

00:29:22.000 --> 00:29:23.000
 Right?

00:29:23.000 --> 00:29:24.000
 You need both.

00:29:24.000 --> 00:29:25.000
 Grace and truth.

00:29:25.000 --> 00:29:28.000
 And Jesus was this perfect blend of this.

00:29:28.000 --> 00:29:29.000
 Perfect blend.

00:29:29.000 --> 00:29:30.000
 Perfect blend.

00:29:30.000 --> 00:29:32.000
 And I won't even say balance of this.

00:29:32.000 --> 00:29:34.000
 Because I don't think Jesus was balanced.

00:29:34.000 --> 00:29:39.000
 He had the, he was more, I like to say, he had the balance of appropriate emphasis.

00:29:39.000 --> 00:29:40.000
 Right?

00:29:40.000 --> 00:29:43.000
 He always knew when to emphasize what he emphasized.

00:29:43.000 --> 00:29:44.000
 And it was always perfect.

00:29:44.000 --> 00:29:45.000
 Right?

00:29:45.000 --> 00:29:49.000
 But it's not like he was walking around saying, I got to make sure I am balanced.

00:29:49.000 --> 00:29:50.000
 No.

00:29:50.000 --> 00:29:51.000
 He was God.

00:29:51.000 --> 00:29:55.000
 And God is perfectly emphasizing all the attributes of his character at the same time.

00:29:55.000 --> 00:29:58.000
 Never suspending one for the other.

00:29:58.000 --> 00:30:02.000
 And we should, and we need to come and cast our burdens on him.

00:30:02.000 --> 00:30:04.000
 And the Bible says, and learn from him.

00:30:04.000 --> 00:30:08.000
 We have to learn from the one who is full of grace and truth.

00:30:08.000 --> 00:30:11.000
 Some of us need to learn a little bit more about grace.

00:30:11.000 --> 00:30:13.000
 Some of us need to learn a little bit more about truth.

00:30:13.000 --> 00:30:14.000
 Okay?

00:30:14.000 --> 00:30:16.000
 Some of us got to learn about both.

00:30:16.000 --> 00:30:17.000
 Right?

00:30:17.000 --> 00:30:21.000
 But ask yourself the question, where am I at in this?

00:30:21.000 --> 00:30:34.000
 And how do people, as I'm functioning in body life and I'm trying to kind of lubricate the gears of my relationships so that they're not rusty and locked up.

00:30:34.000 --> 00:30:36.000
 What is the oil that I'm missing?

00:30:36.000 --> 00:30:38.000
 Is it grace or is it truth?

00:30:38.000 --> 00:30:39.000
 Maybe it's both.

00:30:39.000 --> 00:30:47.000
 But some of us maybe are a little low on the grace oil or a little low on the truth oil and our gears are getting locked up.

00:30:47.000 --> 00:30:49.000
 We're getting locked up in our relationships.

00:30:49.000 --> 00:30:53.000
 And God wants to lubricate those gears so that things flow the way they're supposed to.

00:30:53.000 --> 00:30:55.000
 And it just hums along.

00:30:55.000 --> 00:30:56.000
 Okay?

00:30:56.000 --> 00:30:59.000
 Colossians 3, 12 to 15.

00:30:59.000 --> 00:31:04.000
 Such a beautiful picture of how this is supposed to look.

00:31:04.000 --> 00:31:08.000
 It says, Colossians 3, 12 to 15.

00:31:08.000 --> 00:31:10.000
 It says,

00:31:10.000 --> 00:31:23.000
 Put on them as God's chosen ones, fully and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another.

00:31:23.000 --> 00:31:26.000
 And if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other.

00:31:26.000 --> 00:31:29.000
 As the Lord has forgiven you, so also you must forgive.

00:31:29.000 --> 00:31:32.000
 That's a mouthful right there, right?

00:31:32.000 --> 00:31:35.000
 I mean, that's quite a bit.

00:31:35.000 --> 00:31:40.000
 He's saying, put on these things, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility.

00:31:40.000 --> 00:31:42.000
 But what does it come from?

00:31:42.000 --> 00:31:44.000
 It comes from being God's chosen one, holy and beloved.

00:31:44.000 --> 00:31:53.000
 When you know that God has chosen you and that you are holy and beloved, it helps you to be compassionate, kind, humble, meek, and patient.

00:31:53.000 --> 00:31:55.000
 And to bear with one another.

00:31:55.000 --> 00:31:58.000
 And are we bearing with one another?

00:31:58.000 --> 00:31:59.000
 Are we annoyed with one another?

00:31:59.000 --> 00:32:04.000
 Are we bearing with one another with a sense of forgiveness?

00:32:04.000 --> 00:32:08.000
 If one has a complaint against another, forgive each other as the Lord has forgiven you.

00:32:08.000 --> 00:32:09.000
 How has the Lord forgiven you?

00:32:09.000 --> 00:32:14.000
 Well, if you don't know, then you're not going to be a very good representative of God's forgiving love to others.

00:32:14.000 --> 00:32:18.000
 If you're not living in the awareness of God's forgiving love towards you.

00:32:18.000 --> 00:32:21.000
 Where is your awareness on this topic recently?

00:32:21.000 --> 00:32:25.000
 And I ask the question because we can be one who forget.

00:32:25.000 --> 00:32:37.000
 In fact, it says in another portion of scripture that we end up not adding things to our faith when we have forgotten that we've been cleansed from our past sins.

00:32:37.000 --> 00:32:40.000
 And it says we become nearsighted and blind.

00:32:40.000 --> 00:32:41.000
 Right?

00:32:41.000 --> 00:32:44.000
 Again, this goes back to our seeing.

00:32:44.000 --> 00:32:45.000
 We don't want to be nearsighted and blind.

00:32:45.000 --> 00:32:47.000
 We want to see correctly.

00:32:47.000 --> 00:32:51.000
 Well, that means that we have to not forget that we've been cleansed from our past sins.

00:32:51.000 --> 00:32:56.000
 So what he's saying right here is, you've got to forgive as the Lord has forgiven you.

00:32:56.000 --> 00:32:59.000
 Do some of us need a reminder of how God has forgiven us?

00:32:59.000 --> 00:33:03.000
 Are we a little crotchety when it comes to other people's sins?

00:33:03.000 --> 00:33:06.000
 And have we forgotten how much Christ has forgiven us?

00:33:06.000 --> 00:33:16.000
 Are we like the guy who was forgiven the huge debt and then he demands the $5 from the guy once he gets out of jail and choking him and say, pay all you owe?

00:33:16.000 --> 00:33:18.000
 You know, we don't want to be those people.

00:33:18.000 --> 00:33:20.000
 That guy forgot how much he had been forgiven.

00:33:20.000 --> 00:33:22.000
 We can become those people too.

00:33:22.000 --> 00:33:23.000
 And we become crotchety.

00:33:23.000 --> 00:33:24.000
 We become cranky.

00:33:24.000 --> 00:33:29.000
 We become people that people walk around with like walking on eggshells.

00:33:29.000 --> 00:33:32.000
 Forgive each other as the Lord has forgiven you.

00:33:32.000 --> 00:33:34.000
 So you also must forgive.

00:33:34.000 --> 00:33:39.000
 And above all these, put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.

00:33:39.000 --> 00:33:44.000
 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body.

00:33:44.000 --> 00:33:45.000
 And be thankful.

00:33:45.000 --> 00:33:47.000
 That last part's really important.

00:33:47.000 --> 00:33:51.000
 You might, that sometimes I think maybe people think that's kind of a throwaway thing.

00:33:51.000 --> 00:33:55.000
 You know, you're, you're reading all this list and you're thinking, yeah, I got to be loving and forgiving.

00:33:55.000 --> 00:34:04.000
 But what ends up happening, if you're all these things, but you're anxious about other people's sins, you're afraid of them screwing up our church.

00:34:04.000 --> 00:34:06.000
 And you're afraid of them screwing up their own lives.

00:34:06.000 --> 00:34:08.000
 And you're afraid of them screwing up your life.

00:34:08.000 --> 00:34:12.000
 And there's this subtle anxiety that things aren't right in Denmark.

00:34:12.000 --> 00:34:15.000
 You're not letting the peace of Christ rule in your hearts.

00:34:15.000 --> 00:34:20.000
 And you're making an environment where people don't feel free to be who they are.

00:34:20.000 --> 00:34:26.000
 And you're making an environment that doesn't trust in the grace of God, but trust in our own self-righteousness.

00:34:26.000 --> 00:34:28.000
 It's not a good culture.

00:34:28.000 --> 00:34:29.000
 It's not a good look.

00:34:29.000 --> 00:34:32.000
 We have to let the peace of Christ rule in our hearts.

00:34:32.000 --> 00:34:36.000
 And this is a tough one because let's go back to the theme of what we're talking about here.

00:34:36.000 --> 00:34:43.000
 When you see something that's not right in someone, what happens after you see it?

00:34:43.000 --> 00:34:47.000
 Do you experience peace or do you experience anxiety?

00:34:47.000 --> 00:34:54.000
 When you see something that's not right, someone, are you able to see with peace or do you see with fear?

00:34:54.000 --> 00:34:57.000
 That's an important thing.

00:34:57.000 --> 00:35:00.000
 We can get so hyped up on the fact that we see.

00:35:00.000 --> 00:35:01.000
 Seeing is not that big of a deal.

00:35:01.000 --> 00:35:02.000
 A lot of people see.

00:35:02.000 --> 00:35:07.000
 It's how you see that determines the culture of our church.

00:35:07.000 --> 00:35:12.000
 If we have a bunch of people seeing rightly, but we're seeing with fear and anxiety,

00:35:12.000 --> 00:35:19.000
 we create an atmosphere that is looking to man's strength and ability to hold things up, not to God.

00:35:19.000 --> 00:35:24.000
 We're creating an atmosphere where people walk around on eggshells,

00:35:24.000 --> 00:35:27.000
 wondering if they're doing something wrong.

00:35:27.000 --> 00:35:32.000
 And it's that the whole thing rests on our shoulders rather than people who can walk at ease

00:35:32.000 --> 00:35:35.000
 because the peace of Christ is ruling in their hearts.

00:35:35.000 --> 00:35:40.000
 And even though they're seeing things, even though we're walking around and we're seeing clearly,

00:35:40.000 --> 00:35:41.000
 there's no plank in our eye.

00:35:41.000 --> 00:35:45.000
 We've judged our house first and we begin to see specks in people's eyes.

00:35:45.000 --> 00:35:48.000
 That speck in the other person's eyes doesn't freak us out.

00:35:48.000 --> 00:35:54.000
 Why would I be freaked out if Jesus is ruling on the throne?

00:35:54.000 --> 00:35:58.000
 If Jesus is ruling on the throne and Jesus is ruling over Christ's church,

00:35:58.000 --> 00:36:00.000
 then guess what's ruling in my heart?

00:36:00.000 --> 00:36:01.000
 Peace.

00:36:01.000 --> 00:36:06.000
 And when you see things and the fruit of your seeing is not peace,

00:36:06.000 --> 00:36:10.000
 your seeing might not be all that spiritual.

00:36:10.000 --> 00:36:11.000
 It might be fleshly.

00:36:11.000 --> 00:36:13.000
 Do you hear me?

00:36:13.000 --> 00:36:16.000
 That's just simply Galatians 5 and the fruit of the spirit.

00:36:16.000 --> 00:36:21.000
 If the result of your seeing is fear, you've got to realize you might be seeing,

00:36:21.000 --> 00:36:24.000
 but you're seeing in the flesh, not by the spirit.

00:36:24.000 --> 00:36:26.000
 Not all seeing is seeing.

00:36:26.000 --> 00:36:30.000
 Seeing in the spirit has the fruit of peace ruling in your heart.

00:36:30.000 --> 00:36:32.000
 That's an important aspect.

00:36:32.000 --> 00:36:33.000
 Okay.

00:36:33.000 --> 00:36:37.000
 It's easy to just kind of say, oh, that's just a throwaway at the end of that.

00:36:37.000 --> 00:36:39.000
 I mean, he was pretty comprehensive there.

00:36:39.000 --> 00:36:42.000
 And then he just says, and let the peace of Christ rule in your heart.

00:36:42.000 --> 00:36:43.000
 It's like, no, no, no.

00:36:43.000 --> 00:36:44.000
 Hold on.

00:36:44.000 --> 00:36:45.000
 Hold on.

00:36:45.000 --> 00:36:47.000
 That's a really important aspect of this whole thing.

00:36:47.000 --> 00:36:55.000
 He just did here that in your inmate being compassionate and being meek and forgiving one another, you're doing all that.

00:36:55.000 --> 00:37:05.000
 But if you have this edge about you where you are in fear or anxiety and you can't, you can't function, you can't rest.

00:37:05.000 --> 00:37:07.000
 Maybe you can't even sleep.

00:37:07.000 --> 00:37:17.000
 But with the knowledge of the speck in someone that they don't see or they're not taking care of rightly in your opinion, that's bad fruit.

00:37:17.000 --> 00:37:19.000
 It's bad fruit.

00:37:19.000 --> 00:37:21.000
 And it's a seeing, but it's not seeing by the spirit.

00:37:21.000 --> 00:37:23.000
 It's a seeing in the flesh.

00:37:23.000 --> 00:37:25.000
 The fruit of the spirit is peace.

00:37:25.000 --> 00:37:31.000
 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts to which indeed you were called in one body.

00:37:31.000 --> 00:37:34.000
 You notice that he ties it to body life as well.

00:37:34.000 --> 00:37:35.000
 Okay.

00:37:35.000 --> 00:37:37.000
 This isn't just an individual peace.

00:37:37.000 --> 00:37:43.000
 The peace of the body is dependent on you seeing in a way that trust in the Lord.

00:37:43.000 --> 00:37:50.000
 The peace of the body is dependent upon you seeing in such a way that you can see things that are unsettling.

00:37:50.000 --> 00:37:51.000
 You can see things.

00:37:51.000 --> 00:38:02.000
 And I'm telling you what, the clearer you get in your seeing, whether it's through prophetic gifting or just through judging yourself and walking in divine order, you're going to start seeing things more.

00:38:02.000 --> 00:38:06.000
 Either way, either of those two are going to cause you to see things more.

00:38:06.000 --> 00:38:11.000
 If you don't know how to deal with your seeing, your seeing is a detriment, not a plus.

00:38:11.000 --> 00:38:20.000
 We have to learn to steward the seeing and to bathe it in the peace that comes from trusting in God.

00:38:20.000 --> 00:38:22.000
 You have to trust in him.

00:38:22.000 --> 00:38:28.000
 And, you know, I think that's one thing of just being an elder for all these years.

00:38:28.000 --> 00:38:36.000
 You see a lot of stuff and you hear some horrible stories and you see some really bad sins.

00:38:36.000 --> 00:38:38.000
 And it's not just one person.

00:38:38.000 --> 00:38:45.000
 And then when your church grows, it just means you're seeing more sins and more problems and more big problems.

00:38:45.000 --> 00:38:52.000
 And if your seeing isn't matched with the peace of Christ, you are not fit to be an elder.

00:38:52.000 --> 00:38:57.000
 You're not fit to be a leader who carries that seeing with the peace of Christ ruling in your heart.

00:38:57.000 --> 00:38:59.000
 Because it'll crush you.

00:38:59.000 --> 00:39:10.000
 And many a prophetic person has been crushed because they don't know how to access peace through prayer and the rest that comes from God.

00:39:10.000 --> 00:39:11.000
 Okay.

00:39:11.000 --> 00:39:21.000
 First Peter four, verse eight, um, says above all, keep loving one another earnestly since love covers over a multitude of sins.

00:39:21.000 --> 00:39:23.000
 I've always loved that first.

00:39:23.000 --> 00:39:27.000
 I just feel like it's just such a practical, uh, especially cause I'm a parent.

00:39:27.000 --> 00:39:30.000
 Um, I've screwed up with my kids a lot.

00:39:30.000 --> 00:39:32.000
 I've made a lot of mistakes with my kids.

00:39:32.000 --> 00:39:33.000
 Right.

00:39:33.000 --> 00:39:35.000
 And they remember them for a little while.

00:39:35.000 --> 00:39:36.000
 And then they forget.

00:39:36.000 --> 00:39:37.000
 You know why they forget?

00:39:37.000 --> 00:39:44.000
 The same reason I forgot about a lot of my dad's sins and my mom's they did because my parents love me.

00:39:44.000 --> 00:39:46.000
 And it covers over a multitude of sins.

00:39:46.000 --> 00:39:48.000
 I remember one father's day.

00:39:48.000 --> 00:39:51.000
 And those were one of the most encouraging things I said to my dad.

00:39:51.000 --> 00:39:53.000
 He was asking me what I thought of our upbringing.

00:39:53.000 --> 00:39:54.000
 I said, dad, I loved our upbringing.

00:39:54.000 --> 00:39:58.000
 And my dad could only think of all the ways that he screwed up in our upbringing.

00:39:58.000 --> 00:40:00.000
 I'm just thinking, yeah, I don't remember that stuff.

00:40:00.000 --> 00:40:02.000
 I don't remember that stuff.

00:40:02.000 --> 00:40:05.000
 And then I, what I do remember is you loved us.

00:40:05.000 --> 00:40:06.000
 Did you make mistakes?

00:40:06.000 --> 00:40:07.000
 Yeah.

00:40:07.000 --> 00:40:08.000
 And we can laugh at some.

00:40:08.000 --> 00:40:10.000
 We were laughing about it last time I was with them.

00:40:10.000 --> 00:40:14.000
 We were laughing about, uh, one time my dad flew off the handle, but I'm like, at the

00:40:14.000 --> 00:40:16.000
 end of the day, dad, I knew that you love me.

00:40:16.000 --> 00:40:19.000
 And that covers over a multitude of sins.

00:40:19.000 --> 00:40:22.000
 And, um, that's how body life should be too.

00:40:22.000 --> 00:40:24.000
 That's how body life should be too.

00:40:24.000 --> 00:40:26.000
 It's that, you know, is there sins?

00:40:26.000 --> 00:40:27.000
 Yes.

00:40:27.000 --> 00:40:28.000
 Do we screw up?

00:40:28.000 --> 00:40:29.000
 Yes.

00:40:29.000 --> 00:40:30.000
 Have we done some stupid things?

00:40:30.000 --> 00:40:31.000
 Yes.

00:40:31.000 --> 00:40:38.000
 Christ's church will, but love covers over a multitude of sins.

00:40:38.000 --> 00:40:39.000
 Are we loving?

00:40:39.000 --> 00:40:41.000
 Are we loving?

00:40:41.000 --> 00:40:47.000
 If you're seeing and not loving, what does first Corinthians 13 say?

00:40:47.000 --> 00:40:49.000
 Say you gain nothing.

00:40:49.000 --> 00:40:50.000
 You gain nothing.

00:40:50.000 --> 00:40:55.000
 You can see perfectly, but if you have not love, what good is the seeing?

00:40:55.000 --> 00:40:57.000
 The seeing has to be filled with love.

00:40:57.000 --> 00:40:59.000
 Love covers over a multitude of sins.

00:40:59.000 --> 00:41:00.000
 Okay.

00:41:00.000 --> 00:41:05.000
 Lastly, number four, don't bite and devour one another.

00:41:05.000 --> 00:41:09.000
 Galatians 5, 13 to 15 says, you were called the freedom brothers.

00:41:09.000 --> 00:41:15.000
 Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love, serve one another.

00:41:15.000 --> 00:41:17.000
 But the whole law is fulfilled in one word.

00:41:17.000 --> 00:41:19.000
 You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

00:41:19.000 --> 00:41:25.000
 No, but if you divide and devour one another, watch out that you are not consumed by one another.

00:41:25.000 --> 00:41:26.000
 Okay.

00:41:26.000 --> 00:41:30.000
 This is what I'm talking about where we don't want to create an atmosphere where we're walking on eggshells.

00:41:30.000 --> 00:41:33.000
 You want to serve one another in love.

00:41:33.000 --> 00:41:36.000
 So it says through love, serve one another.

00:41:36.000 --> 00:41:37.000
 Okay.

00:41:37.000 --> 00:41:39.000
 And we got to be careful.

00:41:39.000 --> 00:41:40.000
 We don't bite and devour one another.

00:41:40.000 --> 00:41:42.000
 Where we're crushing people's spirit.

00:41:42.000 --> 00:41:48.000
 Proverbs 18, 14 says a man's spirit will endure sickness, but a crushed spirit who can bear.

00:41:48.000 --> 00:41:51.000
 A crushed spirit who can bear.

00:41:51.000 --> 00:41:53.000
 There's a way we can talk to people.

00:41:53.000 --> 00:41:54.000
 There's a way we can love one another.

00:41:54.000 --> 00:41:59.000
 There's a way we can bring truth and be a speck inspector, which we have to be.

00:41:59.000 --> 00:42:00.000
 We have to judge each other.

00:42:00.000 --> 00:42:03.000
 To have a healthy church, we need people who speak the truth.

00:42:03.000 --> 00:42:06.000
 Who say, hey, you've got a speck in your eye.

00:42:06.000 --> 00:42:09.000
 I think I can see to take it out.

00:42:09.000 --> 00:42:10.000
 All right.

00:42:10.000 --> 00:42:12.000
 But we don't want to crush people's spirit.

00:42:12.000 --> 00:42:14.000
 There's a way to do it.

00:42:14.000 --> 00:42:15.000
 There's a way.

00:42:15.000 --> 00:42:17.000
 And we have to say, God, I don't just want to do your will.

00:42:17.000 --> 00:42:20.000
 I want to know your ways.

00:42:20.000 --> 00:42:27.000
 It says in Hebrews chapter three that God was upset with Israel, not because they didn't do his will, but because they didn't know his ways.

00:42:27.000 --> 00:42:28.000
 It's one thing to know.

00:42:28.000 --> 00:42:29.000
 This is God's will.

00:42:29.000 --> 00:42:30.000
 This is God's will.

00:42:30.000 --> 00:42:31.000
 This is God's will.

00:42:31.000 --> 00:42:32.000
 Yes.

00:42:32.000 --> 00:42:33.000
 Thank you.

00:42:33.000 --> 00:42:36.000
 But do you know the way to bring about God's will?

00:42:36.000 --> 00:42:39.000
 Do you know the way to take the speck out of someone's eye?

00:42:39.000 --> 00:42:41.000
 Do you know how to do that?

00:42:41.000 --> 00:42:43.000
 Do you know how to do it without crushing their spirit?

00:42:43.000 --> 00:42:47.000
 You know, that you pull out the speck, but you poked out the eye.

00:42:47.000 --> 00:42:49.000
 Mission accomplished.

00:42:49.000 --> 00:42:50.000
 I poked out the eye.

00:42:50.000 --> 00:42:52.000
 I got the speck out.

00:42:52.000 --> 00:42:54.000
 Like you poked out their eye, man.

00:42:54.000 --> 00:42:55.000
 They don't get it.

00:42:55.000 --> 00:42:56.000
 They lost their eye.

00:42:56.000 --> 00:42:58.000
 I mean, that's the kind of thing.

00:42:58.000 --> 00:42:59.000
 Like I did it.

00:42:59.000 --> 00:43:00.000
 I told them.

00:43:00.000 --> 00:43:01.000
 I told them what they need to work on.

00:43:01.000 --> 00:43:02.000
 But you crushed their spirit.

00:43:02.000 --> 00:43:03.000
 Okay.

00:43:03.000 --> 00:43:08.000
 We have to, we have to be able to champion one another while judging one another.

00:43:08.000 --> 00:43:14.000
 We have to be able to do it in a way that's brotherly or sisterly or fatherly or motherly.

00:43:14.000 --> 00:43:15.000
 Okay.

00:43:15.000 --> 00:43:20.000
 And a lot of times when we do, when this isn't there and there's a, there's, there's a subtle biting of one another.

00:43:20.000 --> 00:43:24.000
 I think that's almost always symptomatic of not being on mission enough.

00:43:24.000 --> 00:43:31.000
 Because when you're on mission as a church, nobody's thinking about that stuff.

00:43:31.000 --> 00:43:48.000
 And even just hearing the reports of those who went on, on Friday, you know, that it's such excitement, faith, positivity, champion of one another, affirming of how, how things went, you know, just on that little excursion to be on mission to a few people.

00:43:48.000 --> 00:43:49.000
 Nothing crazy.

00:43:49.000 --> 00:43:50.000
 Didn't take a lot of planning.

00:43:50.000 --> 00:43:51.000
 Planning.

00:43:51.000 --> 00:43:54.000
 It just took some people getting out and getting on mission to some people.

00:43:54.000 --> 00:43:59.000
 And I bet you, I bet you guys weren't thinking about all the things that were wrong with Christchurch at that time.

00:43:59.000 --> 00:44:03.000
 No, you're thinking, man, we're on the front lines.

00:44:03.000 --> 00:44:07.000
 You know, we're, we're, we're, we're, we're getting in there and doing what we're supposed to do.

00:44:07.000 --> 00:44:08.000
 We're in the arena.

00:44:08.000 --> 00:44:09.000
 We're preaching the gospel.

00:44:09.000 --> 00:44:12.000
 We're getting in there and doing what a church should do.

00:44:12.000 --> 00:44:13.000
 We're on mission.

00:44:13.000 --> 00:44:14.000
 We're doing what Jesus does.

00:44:14.000 --> 00:44:16.000
 We're seeking and saving those who are lost.

00:44:16.000 --> 00:44:18.000
 We're, we're, we're being a sent people.

00:44:18.000 --> 00:44:20.000
 This is what we're supposed to do.

00:44:20.000 --> 00:44:24.000
 And then you don't get hung up on all those things that we would bite and devour in each

00:44:24.000 --> 00:44:25.000
 other.

00:44:25.000 --> 00:44:28.000
 It's typically symptomatic of not being on mission.

00:44:28.000 --> 00:44:33.000
 This is why as encouraged as I am on all the different missional things that are happening.

00:44:33.000 --> 00:44:37.000
 I still want to say our missional communities need to get on mission together.

00:44:37.000 --> 00:44:40.000
 All the people in the missional community doing it together.

00:44:40.000 --> 00:44:42.000
 We need to make it happen.

00:44:42.000 --> 00:44:43.000
 It's got to happen.

00:44:43.000 --> 00:44:45.000
 General mission is great.

00:44:45.000 --> 00:44:46.000
 I love it.

00:44:46.000 --> 00:44:47.000
 I love it.

00:44:47.000 --> 00:44:49.000
 It's great joining together and doing that.

00:44:49.000 --> 00:44:50.000
 I love it.

00:44:50.000 --> 00:44:55.000
 Each missional community needs to be leading with mission so that it brings, it's like a chiropractic

00:44:55.000 --> 00:44:58.000
 adjustment that brings proper alignment to the whole thing.

00:44:58.000 --> 00:45:04.000
 When people are seeking and saving the lost and looking to that as a missional community,

00:45:04.000 --> 00:45:09.000
 not just a couple people, not just the guys, not just the girls, but the whole missional

00:45:09.000 --> 00:45:14.000
 community is together seeking out lost people and preaching the gospel.

00:45:14.000 --> 00:45:18.000
 It removes the tendency to start biting and devouring one another.

00:45:18.000 --> 00:45:19.000
 Okay.

00:45:19.000 --> 00:45:26.000
 In conclusion, I read a verse that goes with one of our other words that we had for this

00:45:26.000 --> 00:45:27.000
 year.

00:45:27.000 --> 00:45:33.000
 Romans 12, 10 out, do one another and showing honor out, do one another and showing honor.

00:45:33.000 --> 00:45:38.000
 I think of seeing, and I think of seeing correctly and doing some spec inspections.

00:45:38.000 --> 00:45:43.000
 This should be kind of the, uh, the, the overarching mentality.

00:45:43.000 --> 00:45:45.000
 I don't want to just honor people.

00:45:45.000 --> 00:45:47.000
 I want to outdo other people in honoring.

00:45:47.000 --> 00:45:51.000
 Again, it's the only place in the Bible that talks that advocates being competitive

00:45:51.000 --> 00:45:52.000
 with people.

00:45:52.000 --> 00:45:53.000
 Okay.

00:45:53.000 --> 00:45:54.000
 You want to be competitive?

00:45:54.000 --> 00:45:56.000
 Show more honor than the other person.

00:45:56.000 --> 00:45:59.000
 Be more honoring than they were honoring to you.

00:45:59.000 --> 00:46:00.000
 Okay.

00:46:00.000 --> 00:46:06.000
 When we have that kind of mentality and that kind of thinking that creates a culture that

00:46:06.000 --> 00:46:07.000
 anybody wants to be a part of.

00:46:07.000 --> 00:46:12.000
 I want to read a few quotes from Charles Spurgeon from lectures to my students.

00:46:12.000 --> 00:46:18.000
 Um, that I've read, uh, in the past, uh, when I did the evil suspicions message message,

00:46:18.000 --> 00:46:21.000
 because I think it's really good in closing.

00:46:21.000 --> 00:46:25.000
 And he says, many, a friend has been transformed into an enemy by being suspected.

00:46:25.000 --> 00:46:31.000
 He says, it would be better to be deceived a hundred times than to live a life of suspicion.

00:46:31.000 --> 00:46:37.000
 He says, suspicion is a moral evil and injures the character of the man who harbors it.

00:46:37.000 --> 00:46:43.000
 And he says, learn to disbelieve those who have no faith in their brethren, suspect those

00:46:43.000 --> 00:46:45.000
 who would lead you to suspect others.

00:46:45.000 --> 00:46:51.000
 Definition of suspicion is that the act or an instance of suspecting something wrong without

00:46:51.000 --> 00:46:53.000
 proof or on slight evidence.

00:46:53.000 --> 00:46:56.000
 In other words, the synonym for suspicion is mistrust.

00:46:56.000 --> 00:47:01.000
 And I think that the Lord wants us to trust each other more.

00:47:01.000 --> 00:47:05.000
 That doesn't mean you have to ignore the speck in their eyes.

00:47:05.000 --> 00:47:09.000
 It's that we're just trusting that God is working in people's lives.

00:47:09.000 --> 00:47:12.000
 That he who began a good work is faithful to complete it.

00:47:12.000 --> 00:47:16.000
 We don't wait for people to arrive before we trust them.

00:47:16.000 --> 00:47:17.000
 Right?

00:47:17.000 --> 00:47:18.000
 Otherwise, no one would get married.

00:47:18.000 --> 00:47:19.000
 Right?

00:47:19.000 --> 00:47:26.000
 You think 20 something people are really trustworthy people to get to make a lifelong covenant

00:47:26.000 --> 00:47:27.000
 for the rest of their lives.

00:47:27.000 --> 00:47:29.000
 It's like, really?

00:47:29.000 --> 00:47:31.000
 Clearly, there's reasons to doubt that.

00:47:31.000 --> 00:47:32.000
 Right?

00:47:32.000 --> 00:47:34.000
 But we do it all the time.

00:47:34.000 --> 00:47:35.000
 Right?

00:47:35.000 --> 00:47:38.000
 Young people get married all the time and make a covenant for life.

00:47:38.000 --> 00:47:39.000
 How do they do that?

00:47:39.000 --> 00:47:41.000
 They trust one another.

00:47:41.000 --> 00:47:42.000
 In their weakness.

00:47:42.000 --> 00:47:43.000
 In their brokenness.

00:47:43.000 --> 00:47:46.000
 And then after they're married, they think, oh my gosh.

00:47:46.000 --> 00:47:49.000
 There's a lot of things to mistrust here.

00:47:49.000 --> 00:47:50.000
 You know?

00:47:50.000 --> 00:47:51.000
 But I made a covenant.

00:47:51.000 --> 00:47:53.000
 I said I was going to work with these people.

00:47:53.000 --> 00:47:56.000
 And I'm not saying we're in a covenant with each other and we're married to each other.

00:47:56.000 --> 00:47:57.000
 I'm not saying that.

00:47:57.000 --> 00:48:01.000
 But I think for a church to be healthy, we have to trust weak, broken people.

00:48:01.000 --> 00:48:06.000
 And I'm not advocating being blind to the specks in their eyes.

00:48:06.000 --> 00:48:08.000
 You heard me what I just taught.

00:48:08.000 --> 00:48:10.000
 Take specks out of people's eyes.

00:48:10.000 --> 00:48:13.000
 But we're going to have to trust people in their weakness and their brokenness.

00:48:13.000 --> 00:48:14.000
 That God is working in them.

00:48:14.000 --> 00:48:16.000
 That God is building this church.

00:48:16.000 --> 00:48:19.000
 And I'll tell you, trust breeds trustworthiness.

00:48:19.000 --> 00:48:25.000
 Skepticism breeds anxiety and insecurity.

00:48:25.000 --> 00:48:30.000
 When you trust people, it emboldens them and helps them be who they are.

00:48:30.000 --> 00:48:34.000
 This is why parenting, you have parenting where you're constantly suspicious of your kids

00:48:34.000 --> 00:48:37.000
 and you're constantly correcting every little thing and you're never affirming them.

00:48:37.000 --> 00:48:39.000
 You're not raising secure kids.

00:48:39.000 --> 00:48:46.000
 You have to bring affirmation and trust at some point in time in their life or they're going to be very unhealthy kids.

00:48:46.000 --> 00:48:49.000
 Okay, it's the same way with the church.

00:48:49.000 --> 00:48:52.000
 And this is why 1 Corinthians 13 7 says,

00:48:52.000 --> 00:48:59.000
 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

00:48:59.000 --> 00:49:00.000
 Are we doing that?

00:49:00.000 --> 00:49:02.000
 Are we believing all things?

00:49:02.000 --> 00:49:03.000
 Are we bearing all things?

00:49:03.000 --> 00:49:04.000
 Are we hoping all things?

00:49:04.000 --> 00:49:05.000
 Are we bearing all things?

00:49:05.000 --> 00:49:05.000

00:49:05.000 --> 00:49:05.000

00:49:05.000 --> 00:49:05.000

00:49:05.000 --> 00:49:05.000

00:49:05.000 --> 00:49:05.000

00:49:05.000 --> 00:49:05.000

00:49:05.000 --> 00:49:05.000

00:49:05.000 --> 00:49:05.000

00:49:05.000 --> 00:49:05.000

00:49:05.000 --> 00:49:05.000

00:49:05.000 --> 00:49:05.000

00:49:05.000 --> 00:49:05.000

00:49:05.000 --> 00:49:05.000

00:49:05.000 --> 00:49:05.000

00:49:05.000 --> 00:49:05.000

00:49:05.000 --> 00:49:05.000

00:49:05.000 --> 00:49:05.000

00:49:05.000 --> 00:49:05.000

00:49:05.000 --> 00:49:05.000

00:49:05.000 --> 00:49:05.000

00:49:05.000 --> 00:49:05.000

00:49:05.000 --> 00:49:05.000

00:49:05.000 --> 00:49:05.000

00:49:05.000 --> 00:49:05.000

00:49:05.000 --> 00:49:05.000

00:49:05.000 --> 00:49:05.000

00:49:05.000 --> 00:49:05.000

00:49:05.000 --> 00:49:05.000

00:49:05.000 --> 00:49:05.000

00:49:05.000 --> 00:49:05.000

00:49:05.000 --> 00:49:05.000

00:49:05.000 --> 00:49:05.000

00:49:05.000 --> 00:49:05.000

00:49:05.000 --> 00:49:05.000

00:49:05.000 --> 00:49:05.000
