have been a nice guy. 00:04:53.280 --> 00:04:54.840 He was pretty decent. 00:04:55.560 --> 00:05:00.040 He didn't make all these people walk back to all the surrounding towns and get their food. there something more here that we're kind of missing about this story? 00:05:10.659 --> 00:05:14.819 Is it just about him feeding these people with loaves and fish? 00:05:14.819 --> 00:05:30.439 And if you've kind of been following this series or doing any reading in the Gospels, you kind of see that the miracles that Christ shows us, they're not just to provide for those needs that kind of seem obvious. 00:05:30.439 --> 00:05:32.839 But they're bigger. 00:05:32.980 --> 00:05:34.959 They're revealing something about himself. 00:05:34.959 --> 00:05:43.919 And as John puts it in at the end of his Gospel, like, he specifically picks these seven signs. 00:05:44.579 --> 00:05:45.319 And he writes, 00:05:46.139 --> 00:05:51.179 And these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. 00:05:52.179 --> 00:05:54.759 And by believing in his name, you may have eternal life. 00:05:54.759 --> 00:06:00.699 And even Mark, in his Gospel, he states that this is the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. 00:06:01.259 --> 00:06:09.800 So explicitly, they're stating something here that's very significant, that they're trying to prove, that they're taking an account of, and they want us to see. 00:06:11.480 --> 00:06:15.939 And that fact is, they want us to see that Jesus is our Messiah, like he's the Son of God. 00:06:16.319 --> 00:06:17.740 That's the point that they're trying to make. 00:06:17.740 --> 00:06:26.040 And not that these people got healed, but not that that's an insignificant thing, but there's something greater that they want us to see. 00:06:26.840 --> 00:06:38.560 So hopefully, through these five flows, we begin to see something greater, that Jesus is this good shepherd, that he's this great and good and loving and compassionate shepherd who provides for his people. 00:06:38.560 --> 00:06:49.259 So, as we begin to look at the text in verse 30, we see here the disciples coming back. 00:06:49.959 --> 00:06:54.019 They're coming back to Jesus to tell of all they've taught and all they've done. 00:06:54.720 --> 00:07:01.600 And kind of looking back early in the chapter in verse 7, Jesus gives them authority over unclean spirits. 00:07:01.600 --> 00:07:12.220 And they go out, and it says, they proclaim that people should repent, and they cast out many demons and anointed with oil, many that were sick, and they were healed. 00:07:12.740 --> 00:07:17.600 So they did all these great signs and doing all these great things the way when Jesus sent them out. 00:07:18.640 --> 00:07:19.820 So they get back. more by their needs than mine. 00:09:58.979 --> 00:10:04.219 And in these verses, we kind of see that as Christ is shaping his schedule 00:10:04.219 --> 00:10:07.079 and what he's doing around the people that he's serving. 00:10:07.279 --> 00:10:12.759 Because he came for really no other purpose than to seek and to save the lost, 00:10:12.899 --> 00:10:15.019 as we read throughout the Gospels.
