00:08:41.639 --> 00:08:44.319 That promise didn't begin in Genesis 22. 00:08:44.539 --> 00:08:49.299 It actually starts way back when Abraham was 75 years old. 00:08:49.439 --> 00:08:51.960 And he was in Genesis chapter 12, 3. 00:08:52.120 --> 00:08:53.460 That the promises begin. 00:08:54.340 --> 00:08:56.079 That God is going to bless Abraham. 00:08:56.819 --> 00:08:59.919 And through him, he will bless all the nations of the earth. 00:08:59.919 --> 00:09:03.740 And in chapter 15, there's the promise again to Abraham. 00:09:04.019 --> 00:09:05.959 But this time, he's promising a son. 00:09:06.360 --> 00:09:09.519 And then in chapter 17, he reiterates the promise. 00:09:11.219 --> 00:09:14.179 God's going to bless all the nations through an offspring from him. 00:09:15.179 --> 00:09:19.639 And then in chapter 18, when Abraham was 99 and then Sarah was 98. 00:09:20.199 --> 00:09:23.639 I mean, we're talking about 25 years after the original promise was made. 00:09:24.699 --> 00:09:25.679 That's a long time. 00:09:25.679 --> 00:09:28.779 That's a long time to be waiting on a promise to be fulfilled. 00:09:30.639 --> 00:09:35.059 It's at that time, God says, hey, in about a year, you're going to have a little baby boy. 00:09:36.620 --> 00:09:37.419 Sarah laughs. 00:09:37.500 --> 00:09:38.239 Ha, ha, ha, ha. 00:09:40.359 --> 00:09:41.319 That's right, Sarah. 00:09:41.459 --> 00:09:42.439 You're going to name him Laughter. 00:09:43.500 --> 00:09:43.899 Isaac. 00:09:43.899 --> 00:09:51.240 25 years later, that promise is fulfilled in a son. 00:09:52.840 --> 00:10:00.019 The promise of this offspring through whom God will bless all the nations. 00:10:00.019 --> 00:10:04.000 That's why Abraham is here. 00:10:04.799 --> 00:10:13.919 To show us an example of someone who through faith and patience held fast to the promise. 00:10:14.259 --> 00:10:15.480 Until it was fulfilled. 00:10:15.620 --> 00:10:16.480 Until it was obtained. 00:10:16.699 --> 00:10:23.699 Now, Abraham didn't live long enough to be able to see all the nations blessed through this offspring. 00:10:23.700 --> 00:10:28.280 But, surprise, surprise, the ultimate offspring of Abraham. 00:10:28.400 --> 00:10:29.180 Do you know who that is?
