--> 00:03:07.059 Number four is a community. 00:03:07.579 --> 00:03:11.819 And I'd love it if by the time we go away we've got those four words sunk deep down 00:03:11.819 --> 00:03:14.579 and we can 00:04:20.000 You also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood 00:04:20.000 --> 00:04:26.680 offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus nation, God's special possession, 00:04:39.420 --> 00:04:46.279 that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 00:04:46.939 --> 00:04:51.699 Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God. 00:04:51.699 --> 00:04:58.620 Once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. 00:04:59.240 --> 00:05:02.019 So let's get our head around this idea of the church being a home. 00:05:02.259 --> 00:05:06.779 Well, we've sung already such a helpful song which helps us understand this. 00:05:06.860 --> 00:05:09.699 We've sung that Jesus Christ is the cornerstone. 00:05:09.699 --> 00:05:12.759 And that's the idea in this passage here. 00:05:12.819 --> 00:05:19.180 That we can have in our minds the idea of the church as a building where Jesus Christ is the cornerstone. 00:05:19.459 --> 00:05:24.360 The stone that is absolutely essential in terms of holding the whole thing together. 00:05:24.639 --> 00:05:31.439 But that every single one of us are also invited to take our place as stones in this building. 00:05:31.439 --> 00:05:37.000 But it's not just some kind of house where nothing's happening, which is why I'm describing it as a home. 00:05:37.180 --> 00:05:39.199 Because we're described as living stones. 00:05:39.319 --> 00:05:45.000 And there's something that's not static, but that's really dynamic
