faithfulness. 00:07:10.379 --> 00:07:14.459 The big idea for us this morning as we look to Genesis chapter 8 is this. 00:07:15.039 --> 00:07:18.199 God is faithful to all his promises. 00:07:18.199 --> 00:07:25.159 And because God is faithful, God's people respond to the faithfulness of God in two ways. 00:07:25.259 --> 00:07:29.139 It's by waiting on him and worshiping him. 00:07:29.800 --> 00:07:31.259 It's the big idea this morning. 00:07:31.360 --> 00:07:37.180 Because God is faithful, God's people wait on him and worship him. 00:07:37.259 --> 00:07:39.079 So let's look there to our text first. 00:07:39.319 --> 00:07:40.639 Starting here with verse 1. 00:07:40.759 --> 00:07:43.399 First, we see our God is faithful. 00:07:43.620 --> 00:07:45.939 This is the main theme here in the passage. 00:07:45.939 --> 00:07:49.339 We see it in the very first two words of the chapter, don't we? 00:07:49.959 --> 00:07:51.139 But God. 00:07:52.219 --> 00:07:53.800 But God. 00:07:54.819 --> 00:07:59.439 And those that know your Bible, you know, those are two very powerful words, aren't they? 00:08:00.120 --> 00:08:04.620 Again, we end at chapter 7 with destruction and devastation. 00:08:04.720 --> 00:08:06.819 But now with these two words. 00:08:07.000 --> 00:08:09.180 Those two words change everything, don't they? 00:08:09.180 --> 00:08:17.060 Everything that came before, all the wrath and all the judgment, all the destruction, all the devastating waters of the flood, 00:08:17.160 --> 00:08:19.540 all the bad news is now overcome. 00:08:19.959 --> 00:08:22.840 It's wiped away by some very good news. 00:08:23.060 --> 00:08:24.740 But God. 00:08:26.180 --> 00:08:29.960 Those two words, but God, are the hinge here. 00:08:30.199 --> 00:08:34.879 Between the destruction of a couple of chapters earlier. 00:08:50.519 --> 00:08:54.039 Just a few chapters here at the beginning of the flood story. 00:08:54.500 --> 00:08:58.360 God delivered Noah the bad news in chapter 6, verse 17. 00:08:58.360 --> 00:09:06.700 He said, behold, I will bring a flood of waters upon the earth to destroy all flesh in which is the breath of life under heaven. 00:09:07.639 --> 00:09:10.120 Everything that is on the earth shall die. 00:09:10.639 --> 00:09:12.159 But, here's the good news. 00:09:13.060 --> 00:09:17.060 But, I will establish my covenant with you. 00:09:17.899 --> 00:09:19.960 And you shall come into the ark. 00:09:20.100 --> 00:09:23.440 You, your sons, your wife, your sons' wives with you. 00:09:23.500 --> 00:09:24.519 This is a promise. 00:09:25.500 --> 00:09:27.820 God has now spoken a promise to Noah. 00:09:27.820 --> 00:09:31.940 Yes, I will destroy all things because of the wickedness of the earth. 00:09:32.220 --> 00:09:34.600 But, I make you a he's got to do something about it. 00:10:18.659 --> 00:10:19.519 That's not what's happening. 00:10:20.399 --> 00:10:24.659 An all-knowing, eternal, sovereign God doesn't forget anything. 00:10:24.939 Rachel and opens up her womb. 00:10:54.340 --> 00:10:55.440 Exodus chapter 2. 00:10:55.540 --> 00:11:01.420 As we look ahead to Exodus, God hears the groans of his people as they cry out to him in slavery. 00:11:01.419 --> 00:11:06.919 And God remembers the covenant that he made with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob. 00:11:07.339 --> 00:11:12.759 As God remembers throughout the scriptures, what he's doing is he's thinking of his people. 00:11:13.879 --> 00:11:15.839 He is seeing their need. 00:11:16.500 --> 00:11:20.819 And he is determining to take action on their behalf. 00:11:22.039 -->
